He sighed.
'What is she doing?' Hawks thought, worried as four of his six feather pinned Miko to her seat as Ryukyu was introduced, 'Just what the hell kind of jobs has she been doing all this time?'
He had a Deputy to yell at.
"Ryu...?" Miko was muttering to herself and he tuned out all other noises to try to figure what she was saying, "Slashed. Bits. Pieces," He noticed she was shaking and then he blinked, hearing the faint humming noise coming from the sword strapped to her side, "What? I-it's– it's not him?"
Ryukyu took her place on stage and Miko looked up.
"It's not him," Miko relaxed in her seat and Hawks let out a breath, allowing his feathers to loosen their grip on her person, "Thank you, Kurikaramaru."
'Who is 'him'?' Hawks wondered, scratching the back of his head, 'Someone else with a dragon-based Quirk?' He let out a breath, 'Looks like I got a lot of research to do.'
He had missed the next few Heroes who had been introduced after Ryukyu, but he didn't care much as he knew their little speeches were nothing more than PR talk. However, he perked up when Miko sat forward in her seat rather eagerly and he almost took a step back when it looked like there were stars in her now glittering eyes.
"NO. 5! RABBIT HERO: MIRKO!"
"E-ears," He could see Miko struggle to stay in her seat as Mirko flicked her hair arrogantly, "I want to... touch them."
'What...?' Hawks could feel his brow twitch as his wings ruffled in irritation and he side glared Mirko, 'They're just rabbit ears! They hold nothing over my wings!'
Again, with his thoughts, he missed the introduction of the few other Heroes, and unconsciously softened his tensed state as he threw his arm to the back of his head, disappointed when Miko didn't react to his own introduction, "What an exaggeration." He rolled his eyes at the hostess' enthusiasm.
"HE'S BEEN IN THE TEMPORARY POSITION, BUT NOW HE'S THE NEW TRUE NO. 1 HERO: ENDEAVOR!"
The audience cheered and settled down until an older woman walked out onto the stage and Hawks sighed when he realized it was the Hero Public Safety Commission's President.
Nobody saw it coming.
"Kurikaramaru!" Even his feathers could not keep up with her speed as Miko surged from her seat towards the stage with her sword drawn, clearly intent on slicing the President's throat.
"Miko, stop!" Hawks shouted as multiple feathers soared towards her to subdue her and took a step back in horror when Miko was forced to stop her attack by a wall of flames, "Endeavor-san, don't!"
Miko had to manoeuvre in an awkward manner in order to avoid the flames and it was in that moment that her legs were kicked out from beneath her and a boot, seemingly on fire, pressed down hard on her stomach, limiting her movement, "Flaming Oni!" She growled.
"Madame President," Hawks helped the woman up as she had fallen down in shock, "It's best if you leave now," He looked on in worry as Endeavor kept Miko in her place. He glanced around at the other Heroes who had prepared to defend the President also, only to be beaten by the Flame Hero.
"I did not know she would be here," The President sighed, looking at Miko with pity and perhaps even dread, "This is awful." She simply said and Hawks handed her off to another Hero to be escorted off stage and looked at for any injuries suffered.
"Who are you, little brat?" Endeavor glared down at the girl, "Are you with the League of Villains?" He demanded, increasing the heat of his boot just a little more, though the girl seemed utterly unaffected.
"Wait, Endeavor-san!" Hawks quickly moved towards the towering man, but his golden eyes widened and he felt droplets of blood land on his face, "Miko, no!"
"Kurikaramaru!"
