Hi, everypony! And welcome to the second chapter of my first Felidae story, "Felidae: My First Murder Case". Last chapter, we got to meet our protagonist, Madeline "Maddie" Shimamura as a human. We also got to meet her family and her friends. But now, this is where the Felidae part of the story happens. What's going to happen to Maddie in this chapter? Let's find out, shall we? Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Felidae. I only own Maddie.

Chapter 2: So, yeah. I'm a cat now

I don't know how it happened. But as soon as I turned on my side, I didn't feel my bed. Instead, I felt concrete. Hard, wet, solid, concrete. When I felt it, I woke up and looked around to check my surroundings but I couldn't see anything. It was pitch black! I got up, looked around, and I called for my parent's names. But there was no answer. I called Koji's name, still no answer.

And when I got a whiff of where I was, the scent hit me like a ton of lead. It smelt like a combination of moldy pizza and spoiled milk. I gagged so hard and I knew I had to get out of there. Finally, while I was searching for a way out, I saw a light up ahead. Out of desperation, I ran towards it at a really fast pace. The light kind of hurt my eyes so I closed my eyes a little.

When I could see clearly, I could see that everything looked bigger than usual. And to make matters worse, I realized I didn't know where I was. I sure as hell wasn't in my cul-de-sac.

"Where the hell am I?!" I thought.

I started to walk slowly still scared out of my mind. I walked a little further when I realized I stepped in a puddle. Here's where things started to get a little bit awkward. When I looked down to see what kind of puddle I stepped in, I noticed that my right foot wasn't a human foot but a cat foot! I gasped and stepped back a little. I started breathing heavily a little. I put my paw on my head and- wait a second, PAW?! I looked at my both my hands. Only they weren't hands anymore. They were white CAT PAWS!!!!

"No. No, no, no, no, no. This can't be real! I can't really be a cat. Am I?" I asked myself.

Just to be sure if my hunch was correct, I slowly walked to the puddle. Then I crouched down and saw my reflection in the water. To my surprise, I saw my face had changed from a human being to a white cat with green eyes! I gasped and stepped back from the puddle. I shook my head.

"No. This has to be a dream. It just has to be!" I thought.

I just stood there, trying to figure out if this was a dream or reality. I then remembered something; I remembered that cats have claws. I figured if I used one of my retractable claws on myself, maybe I would wake up. It sounds crazy, but it's worth a try. I looked at my left paw and unsheathed one of my new claws. I looked at my right foreleg and decided that I was gonna use my claw on it. I looked at my claw, then at my foreleg, then at my claw again. I took a deep breath.

"Well, here goes nothing." I said.

I slowly brought my claw to my foreleg and gently ran it across is a little. But when I did, I felt pain. I squealed when I felt it. I saw that my foreleg was bleeding a little. That was when I came to the realization that this was no dream. This was... real!

"How did I get here?!" I thought, "What happened to me?! And most importantly... WHERE IS MY FAMILY?!!!!"

I started hyperventilating a little while holding my head in my paws as I dropped to my knees. I then closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before calming down. I rose to my feet and started walking. I stopped when I realized something; I realized I was walking on two legs! Crazy, huh? I mean I was really amazed when I was walking on two legs even though I was a cat. It was a miracle I didn't fall on my either my face or my butt.

At first I thought about running or walking on two legs, but then I thought it would be wise to do it on all fours just in case other cats see me. They'd probably give me weird looks if they saw me on two legs. After getting on all fours, I started walking slowly at first. Then faster and faster. Then I started to jog and I eventually broke into a run. I ran and ran a few miles until I came across a stone wall. I instantly recognized it just by looking at it.

"This must lead to Francis' neighborhood." I thought.

Wanting to see it for myself, I jumped up on to the wall. When I did, I saw that I was right. This was Francis' neighborhood.

"Holy cow."

I stood there. Awestruck at what I was seeing. It was a pretty average looking neighborhood. Houses, front yards, backyards, trees, the usual stuff. Our cul-de-sac had fences but not stone walls. That was the only thing that was different. I shrugged my shoulders and figured the least I could do was get the layout of the land. And with that, I started walking across the wall. A couple of hours later, I was a little bit tired from all of my walking.

So I decided to stop and sit down to catch my breath. For a few minutes, everything was fine. But then, I caught a scent. It smelled like rusty nails. It was when I smelt it again that I realized it and my eyes widened. It was the smell of... blood. I slowly turned to my right. I really wished I didn't. Because when I did, what I saw made me gasp with horror. It was the dead corpse of a black cat. The worst part was that its throat was slashed with blood coming out. I instantly recognized the cat as the first murdered cat I saw in the movie; it was Sacha.

I didn't want to, but for some reason, I found myself walking towards the body out of curiosity. When I got close, I got one little whiff and my stomach churned. Sacha's body smelt like it had been there for hours. I then heard voices. Two voices that I recognized. And I knew whom they belonged to. They were discussing whether he was killed by a human or another cat just like in the movie.

But when the other cat said; "I don't think a can opener did it. This bugger's throat's been shredded, not cut." That was when I accidentally opened my big mouth and said out loud, "Oh, gee, ya think?" I quickly looked up to see the other two cats whom I knew to be Francis and Bluebeard staring at me.

"Just who the hell are you?" Bluebeard asked me.

I stuttered a little bit, trying to find the right words.

Um... M-My name is... Madeline." I introduced.

"Madeline?" Asked Francis.

I nodded.

"Yeah. Madeline Shimamura. But you may call me Maddie." I said.

The duo looked at each other, and then back at me.

"Shimamura? Huh. That's an unusual last name for a cat. Hell, it's kinda unusual for a cat to have a last name at all." Bluebeard said.

I was about to say something, but then I realized he was correct. It was usually normal for an animal to not have a last name. Let alone a cat. But the only problem with that was I wasn't a cat to begin with. I was a human being!

Bluebeard started to leave, but glanced back at Francis.

"Hey, little smartass. What do they call you?" He asked.

"Francis."

The manx turned away and scoffed. After he left, Francis turned and walked past me, getting ready to explore the neighborhood. After he took a few steps, he stopped and turned to me.

"Want to explore the town, Madeline?" He asked me.

I nodded.

"Sure, Francis. And you may call me Maddie." I said.

Author's Note: Looks like Maddie has a new life to try to adjust to. Sorry for being gone for so long. I've just had writer's block out the wazoo and severe lack of motivation. Despite all of that, I'm back and NO I have not cancelled my stories! Sorry about that. Anyway, Maddie's story doesn't end here. We've still got a long way to go. Hope you all enjoyed this chapter and please be sure to share, read, and review. Keep watch for the next chapter. Constructive criticism is welcome. Until next time, see you later, my fellow bronies and pegasisters!
