What's up, everypony? I'm back again with another chapter of my first Felidae fic, "Felidae: My First Murder Case". In the last chapter, Bluebeard led Maddie and Francis to Deep Purple's body after running into Kong and his lackeys. All of which Maddie kept her composure. In this chapter, Maddie is going to see some familiar faces. Who will they be? Let's find out. Disclaimer: I DO NOT own Felidae. I only own my OCs.
Chapter 5: The Sect, Felicity, and the Family
When we got back to Francis' house, we were sleeping in Gus' room trying to sleep. Although, I can't imagine how he could sleep with all that snoring. But it wasn't even that that was keeping us awake. It was something else. Something horrifying. I was the first to wake up. I got up, stretched, and went out into the hall. I heard what sounded like cat yowls. Yowls of pain. When I walked down the hall, I saw that the door was cracked open. I stopped because I instantly knew it was The Claudandus Sect. They were in the middle of their ceremony. I heard Father Joker preaching from the way he was shouting.
Just in case they got hostile, which I knew they would, I remembered the sword from the artifacts room. I knew I had to get it. Somehow, in my mind, I thought it would prove to be a life saver if need be. I quickly but quietly ran past them and to the room. Thankfully, I didn't take me long to get there. I quickly walked in there and looked around for the cat statue. When I saw it, I walked towards it. As soon as I did, I quickly picked up the sword and looked it over. I then held it out in front of me, and slowly removed it from its holster.
As soon as it was completely out of its holster, I held it up in the air and swung it around a little. Also, I could've sworn I heard a voice. It sounded feminine. It said, "You now have my sword, pure one. Use it wisely."
After that, I quickly put the sword back in the holster and strapped it around me. I ran out of the artifacts room and dashed off to find Francis. I didn't have to look long when I saw him going upstairs and decided to follow. It was a few seconds when I found the room he was in. He was looking down at The Claudandus Sect's ceremony. I could tell he was looking at it in disbelief and fear. I quietly walked to him and tapped his shoulder. He turned to me.
"Maddie?"
"Hey. What's going on?"
"You tell me."
I looked down below and saw what he was talking about. The cat whom I knew to be Joker was powering some kind of machine that sent out electrical currents. I knew what was happening and I felt pain as we were watching. I was snapped out of it when Francis tapped my shoulder and pointed down. When I looked down again, not only did we see Kong and his buddies there, but Bluebeard as well. I was looking for so long that I lost my balance. Thankfully, Francis kept me from falling, but not before a little debris fell onto Joker's head. When it did, he looked up and saw us!
"TRESPASSER! IN THE ATTIC!" He yelled.
That alone was our cue to leave. We ran until we saw a hole in the ceiling which had a long wooden plank. We heard the cats yowling furiously coming after us. We looked at each other and nodded as we quickly climbed up the plank. We almost fell but we managed to climb up through the hole. Francis and I looked around at the place and saw an operating table and multiple surgical equipment.
"Enough to equip a hospital, I'll give it that." Francis said.
"You can say that again." I said.
We heard the attic door being pushed up and by the Sect members. I turned to Francis with a look of urgency.
"There's no time to look around, Francis. We need to find a way out, and pronto!" I told him.
We looked until we saw a hole in the roof leading outside. We quickly rushed to it. Francis was the first to get out. He turned back to me as I reached out for his paw. As I was about to grab it, the Sect members burst through the attic door screeching with anger and advancing toward us. When I saw that, I screamed with terror! Thankfully, I grabbed Francis' paw just in time.
"PULL ME THROUGH!!!!" I screamed.
It wasn't easy, but Francis managed to pull me through. We looked at each other.
"Thanks."
"Anytime."
We turned back to the hole and realized to our horror, the Sect members burst through it ready to chase after us some more.
"Oh shit! We gotta go NOW!" Francis yelled.
We then started to run. One of the Sect members tried to corner us, but we changed our direction quickly. We ran and jumped as quickly as we could. We even climbed up a drain pipe. We were almost cornered when we almost fell off a wooden plank. We turned to see one of the Sect members running towards us. He jumped at us.
"Oh no, you don't!" I yelled, angrily.
Without hesitation, I jumped up and kung fu kicked the Sect member with a loud "HI-YA!" and he flew back and dropped like a bag of potatoes. I looked behind us and saw a tree. I turned to Francis.
"Francis! Follow my lead!" I yelled.
We both jumped in the tree trying not to fall to ground. We jumped from two more rooftops until we ended up at a certain house. I instantly knew who's house this was. Before I could think any further, Francis dragged me back behind the chimney near the skylight. We could hear the Sect members closing in on us. I turned to the skylight window.
"Psst... Francis." I whispered.
He turned to me I told him that the window might be pushable.
"Are you sure?" He asked.
"Only one way to find out." I replied.
The two of us put both of our forepaws on the window.
"Okay... On three... One... Two... Three."
We pushed the window and surprisingly enough, we fell through and landed in the house on the floor. I landed on my belly and Francis landed on his side. We watched as the Sect members ran past the window.
"Phew. At least we escaped." I said.
"You can say that again." Said Francis.
We suddenly heard a sweet voice.
"You two are new in the neighborhood. Aren't you?" It asked.
We turned to see a white she cat with a gold collar sitting in a chair.
"Yes. That's right." Said Francis.
We walked towards the chair.
"The name's Francis." He introduced.
"My name's name's Maddie Shimamura." I said.
"Friend or foe?" Asked the cat.
"Friends. Friends forever." I said.
The cat turned to us and I instantly recognized who it was. It was Felicity. She was my second favorite cat from the movie. I always felt bad when she didn't survive her encounter with the murderer.
"Friends who fell suddenly out of the sky." She said.
Felicity jumped out of the chair and walked past us toward the window.
"Well, not exactly." Francis said, "Only through the skylight, not from the sky. We were escaping lunatics from The Claudandus Sect. They objected to us watching their ceremony."
"That sounds typical of them." Felicity said, "Has it gotten light outside yet?"
"Yes, but surely you can see that for y-" Francis started to say.
We jumped up on the windowsill and got a good look at her icy blue eyes.
"Oh. You're blind." Francis said with a remorseful tone.
"You think?" I thought.
"I'm not blind."
"Then what..."
"I just can't see."
She jumped off the windowsill and walked towards the fireplace.
"Do you ever go out?" Francis asked.
"No. Though not a day of my life goes by. Not one day that I haven't wished I could see this world evil and cruel though it is." Said Felicity.
Francis put his paw over Felicity's left paw.
"I'm sorry." He said.
"Why? There are much worse things Francis. We can get used to anything. Except having to live in a dog kennel possibly." She told him, which caused the three of us to laugh.
"Hey, Felicity?"
"Yes, Maddie?"
"Just curious, have you always... well... you know..." I tried to say.
"Been blind? Yes. From birth." Said Felicity, "But you know what? I see pictures. Pictures in my mind."
"Wow." I said.
"What kind of pictures?" Asked Francis.
"I see these people grouped around me." Felicity said, "And they're so big, tall, and somehow bright. One of them bends over me. He smiles and then he has something that glistens in his hand. Then terrible pain. Then I fall asleep."
I saw Felicity wipe her eyes and sniffle a bit as if she was about to cry. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't about to cry myself. I felt really bad for her. She never got to see anyone or anything in her whole life. I almost started sobbing right then and there, but by some miracle I managed to hold back my tears.
"I don't think you were blind from birth." Francis said, "I'd say that some human has done something terrible to you."
"But that can't be." Said Felicity, "The human race is the kindest there is. Who else would give a useless thing like me a home?"
"Hey, hey, hey, hey. You are not useless! You are the kindest, unique, and most warm-hearted cat in the neighborhood if not the whole world. And to top it off, you see pictures in your head that possibly no one else can. If that doesn't spell uniqueness, I don't know what does. So, no. You're not useless. You are a unique, and I mean, a UNIQUE cat!" I said.
I walked over to her, and before realizing what I was doing, I instantly wrapped her in a hug which surprised both her and Francis. Felicity most of all. She probably had never heard anyone say anything so inspiring to her in all her life before. And before I knew it, I felt her foreleg wrap around me meaning she was returning the hug. I let a few stray tears fall down my face. I looked at Francis who was smiling warmly. We suddenly heard a voice.
"You have the kindest heart there is, my loving daug
There was only one person I know who always called me that. Felicity and I broke the hug as all three of us turned to see two cats standing by the fireplace. The first one was black with white stripes and had blue eyes and the second one was white with a black left paw and had green eyes. I was a little confused when I started walking towards them.
"Who are you?" I asked.
They both looked at each other and chuckled. Then they turned back to me.
"Why... We're you're parents, Maddie." Said the first one.
It was when the first one spoke that I instantly recognized them. They were clearly my parents, Takeo and Reiko. I turned back to Felicity.
"Are they..."
Felicity nodded.
"Yes."
I quickly turned back to them and quickly walked towards them with tears running down my face. When I got close, we instantly hugged each other tightly. I was both happy and surprised to find my parents here in this world just like me. And to top it off, they were also cats.
"Madeline Shimamura. Where have you been all this time?" My dad asked.
"It's... a little hard to explain, Dad." I said, How did you and Mom get here?"
"We can't remember." Mom said, "All we remember is that we all woke up in the neighborhood and had no idea where you were. We've been sending Arlene and Tara out to find you, but they've always came up short. But despite that, we're glad you're okay."
"I'm glad I'm okay too." I said, "Wait a minute, you said Arlene and Tara are here too? What are they doing here?"
Dad shook his head.
"We don't know. We asked them and they didn't know either. We sent them out to find you again a few hours ago and they usually come back. But for some reason, they didn't." He said.
"Where are they?"
"Somewhere in the neighborhood, I guess."
We then heard Francis clear his throat. We turned to him as he walked towards us.
"Oh, silly me. How could I forget? Mom, Dad, I'd like you to meet my friend, Francis. He's trying to solve a murder with me and another cat named Bluebeard helping him." I said.
My parents were surprised.
"There's a murderer on the loose?" Asked Mom.
"Unfortunately, yes." Francis replied, "As a matter of fact, the murders have been going on for a while. I used to think it was uncontrollable sex, but something tells me it just might be something else."
"It might be." Said Felicity.
We all turned to her.
"Do you know anything about The Claudandus Sect?" Francis asked.
Felicity shook her head.
"Not much. Only that they pray to a dead martyr called Claudandus, a brother, who lived around here many years ago and was tortured by men all his life. Tormented horribly." She said with disgust.
Suddenly, I realized something and turned back to my parents.
"Wait a minute. If you guys, Arlene, and Tara are here... then that must mean..."
All of a sudden, we heard a loud "HI-YAAAAAA!!!!!" coming from beside me. I turned and grabbed the assailant by the leg and slammed him down on the floor. I looked down to see a little black and white kitten with blue eyes groaning and slowly getting up. Judging from the voice, I could tell who it was. I smiled slyly.
"Next time don't yell loudly when trying to get the drop on me, Koji." I told the kitten.
The kitten who I now knew to be Koji looked up at me with a disappointed look.
"How did you know it was me?" He asked, a little irritated.
"There's only one kid I know who would try to sneak attack me like that." I said.
Koji shook his head.
"Wait a minute... sis?!"
"That's right. It's me."
"Wow!"
He walked around me and looked me over.
"Wow. You're a cat too? Huh. Wait until Arlene and Tara hear about this." He said.
"I'm sure they already know, son." Dad said.
I felt a paw on my shoulder and turned to my mother who had kind of a sad look on her face. I could tell she wanted to tell me something.
"Sweetie... there's... something I need to tell you." She said.
"What is it?" I asked her.
We all heard the skylight window creak open and looked up to see Bluebeard looking down at us.
"Why did you two run off? The brothers just wanted to talk." He said to me and Francis.
"I bet they did with three hundred volts loosening our tongues right?!" Francis asked, now irritated.
"Yeah, but that's not all. One of them was knocked out cold and had some teeth missing. When he came to, he said that some crazy white cat kung fu kicked him. Was that Maddie?" Asked Bluebeard.
Francis was now confused.
"Kung fu kick?"
He turned to me and I shrugged my shoulders. He brushed it off and turned to Felicity.
"I'll be back soon. Real soon. But right now, I've gotta get something straight with my friend." He said.
He was about to jump up to the skylight but then he looked at me.
"Aren't you coming?"
"Yeah, I'll be with you in a second."
I turned back to Felicity, then to my family. I walked to my parents with a solemn and firm look.
"Listen, guys." I began, "I need you to do something for not just me, but for Francis as well; please try to protect Felicity with all your might. I hope not only she survives, but I hope you survive as well. I cannot lose you again. Promise me that you'll protect Felicity and yourselves no matter what."
My parents instantly knew what I was talking about. They remembered me when I was sad about Felicity dying when I first saw the movie and how they comforted me. They nodded.
"We promise." They said in unison.
I nodded and turned to follow Francis.
"Madeline." Said my mother.
I turned to her.
"Take your brother with you."
I was surprised.
"What? Why?"
She walked towards me and whispered in my ear.
"Because, even though he may have some of the same skills as you, he's still a novice and isn't ready for combat. We need you to take care of him and train him well. Even if we die. Promise us that. Okay?" She asked.
I reluctantly nodded.
"Yes, ma'am." I said.
Koji walked towards me.
"I'm ready when you are, sis." He said.
And with that, I picked him up by the scruff and followed Francis out of the house. When Bluebeard saw Koji, he laughed a little.
"Heh heh. Hey, who's the little munchkin?" He asked, trying to be funny.
"Hey! I'm not a little munchkin!" Koji shouted.
I tried not to laugh, but I heard Francis and Bluebeard laughing. Little did I know, this would be the last time Koji and I would ever see our parents. And it was not a pretty site.
