He would help.
But...
"Kagome," Hawks closed his eyes, rubbing his hands through his hair, "The HPSC lost possession of your backpack," He said honestly and Kagome stayed her impassive self, "They don't know who stole it and that's why you were put in my care. They didn't think they could keep control of you without the expectation of a reward at the end of a mission," He sighed tiredly, "If they just treated like you like a human being instead of a dog..."
"It would not have changed things," Kagome waved off Hawks' mutterings, "When I first gained consciousness, all I had were animalistic instincts – the vicious need to ward off strangers and form my own pack since I could not find my own. It may not make sense to you since I'm not even Inu but a Miko, but I lived in an Inu-structured pack for many years and it must have engraved itself into my unconscious."
Hawks hummed, taking the information and absently wondering if the Hero Hound Dog would understand any of this and made a note to visit him, "Someone could have stolen your backpack for revenge for an assassination job you completed, a low-level Hero could have been watching you and took it to entice to become their sidekick, or a Villain stole it to get you to join them. Those are the main theories that I've come up with. Of course, it could be something else entirely, but it's unlikely."
Kagome's eyes looked distant, "Those items would appear as ordinary everyday things to someone, but in my hands, they can become deadly weapons," Her expression appeared pained for a split second, "I believe they were given to me by my pack mates."
"I'm telling you now," Hawks turned, letting his wings rise, "This mission might be more complicated than you might think and a long term one. Don't expect to complete it in one day," He moved over to the girl, "All right, Miko-chan?"
"You can call me 'Kagome'", The girl blinked, confused at the sudden switch as he wrapped his around her waist, "I give you permission."
"All Heroes need a Hero name~" Hawks flapped his wings and they were off from the top of the building and he laughed when Kagome let out a huff, "Yeah, yeah – I know you totally turned down the Provisional Hero License Exam, so you aren't technically a Hero, but the world thinks you're my sidekick now! Your 'Hero' name is Miko, whether you like it or not."
Kagome did not respond to that, and to Hawks' dismay, completely changed the subject, "I wish to see the Fire Oni now. I need to tell him of my backpack. Those items need to be recovered," She took a peek at him, "And you can settle on who is Beta of the pack."
"You want me to fly all the way to Shizuoka!?" Hawks almost stumbled in the air, "Do you know how far that is for me to fly?! I'm not a machine, I do get tired!"
"Then let us go by machine," Kagome muttered, "I am sure we can get airplane or train tickets," She looked thoughtful for a moment, "Perhaps you are Delta material?"
"What does that mean?!"

Gold eyes gleamed while sharp fangs glinted as a maniacal grin crossed her face as her legs kicked carelessly in the air while her hands almost reverently stroked the Sensu folding fan sitting on the bar counter.
"Come get your toy, Doggie~!"
