It was a new day as the ghostly tour bus neared the next city on Ember's world tour. With the passengers, Danny was going over some notes he recently made about his travels, while Ember was busy dealing with Danielle.
"You really need to start brushing your hair more often, Mini-Pop," stated the rock diva as she ran a brush through the little one's hair, trying to get rid of the knots that had formed.
Said little one pouted as she sat on Ember's lap, trying not to flinch when a knot was pulled. "I don't see why I should. I don't care about looking pretty!"
This only made Ember roll her eyes as she continued her task. "It's not about looking pretty. It's about looking decent and yes, there's a difference. You don't want to look like a slob, do you?"
"…No," replied Danielle, looking off to the side.
"Then you need to brush your hair everyday," stated Ember, finishing up and tying the ghostling's hair back into a ponytail. "There. All done."
"Thanks, Ember!" chirped Danielle with a beaming smile before hopping down to go play with her plushies.
With the little one now occupied, Ember went over to sit next to her Baby-Pop.
"Whatcha working on, Baby-Pop?" she asked, looking at his notebook.
"I'm more or less working on a journal, recording everything we've been through on this vacation," replied Danny, looking up to the fiery girl. "I figured it would be a good idea to have something more than just photos to remember this."
"You make it seem like we're nearing the end. There're still plenty of cities we'll be visiting, Baby-Pop," said Ember with a smirk.
Danny let out a chuckle. "Good to know. So where will be visiting next, my Dancing Flame?"
"Wherever the wind takes us, Baby-Pop."
The Halfa wasn't sure how to take that.

Danny could only roll his eyes as the bus entered the city limits, watching as they passed by a windmill just outside of the city.
"And people say my puns are bad," said Danny, referring to Ember's clue earlier.
"They are bad, Baby-Pop. Don't deny it," replied Ember teasingly.
"Agree to disagree."
Finding a parking spot, the trio exited the bus and took in their surroundings.
"So where are we exactly?" asked Danielle, looking at a nearby canal.
"We're in Amsterdam, Mini-Pop. It's the home of windmills, tulips, and wooden shoes," explained the fiery girl.
"Surprisingly, those are mainly used to get tourists to come and visit. There's more to Amsterdam than that," added Danny as he looked up landmarks on his phone. "For example, there's the Royal Concertgebouw, which I'm guessing is where Ember will hold her concert."
"Damn right it is! If Pink Floyd could do it, so can I!"
"There's also a pair of museums close to each other that we can visit; the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum. There's a third museum near them called the Stedelijk Museum, but it's been closed for renovation."
"Anything else we can see?" questioned Ember, crossing her arms. "There has to be more than just museums here."
Letting out a chuckle, Danny continued. "We can also go see the Munttoren and even take a boat ride down the canals."
"I know you said that they're pretty much tourists traps, but is there a windmill we can visit?" asked Ember. "It just feels wrong to be in Amsterdam and NOT see a windmill."
"There's the Gooyer, which is the tallest windmill in the Netherlands."
"Perfect!"
"I think we should go check out that area over there first!" stated an excited Danielle, pointing in a certain direction. "There's a LOT of people over there so something fun must be happening!"
Looking towards where the ghostling was pointing, Danny and Ember paled at what it was. Having more knowledge of the world than the little one did, the teens knew exactly what that place was, especially since there were red lanterns hanging from various poles in said area. Quickly grabbing the child who was already trying to make her way over there, they rushed off into the other direction, wanting to keep her as far away from that district as possible.

After finding a hotel and buying a plushy Holstein cow dressed as a milkmaid to pacify the ghostling, the trio was currently on a boat, drifting down the Singel, one of four famous canals of the city.
"It's surprising that these canals are what's considered the most famous landmark in Amsterdam," said Ember, leaning into Danny while his arm was around her shoulders.
"Well Amsterdam is known as the "Venice of the North" because of these canals, so I can see why they would take pride in them," replied Danny, before noticing that they were coming up to a place he read up on when doing research. "Let's stop here for a bit."
The girls were confused as to why Danny wanted to stop here, but followed him off the boat anyway when they reached a dock. Danny then led them to something Ember didn't think she'd ever see.
"Is this…a floating flower market?" questioned the rock diva, looking at the many flower stalls that were floating on the water.
"Yup. This is the Bloemenmarkt, the world's only floating flower market," explained Danny with a smile. "I figured it'd be an interesting place to visit."
"What kind of flowers are these again?" asked Danielle as she looked at the cup-shaped blossoms.
"These are tulips, Danielle, and as Ember mentioned before they're considered a symbol of the Netherlands."
"Planning on taking some authentic Netherland tulips home with us, Baby-Pop?" questioned Ember with a teasing smirk.
She raised an eyebrow when he returned the smirk. "Something like that."
Ember watched as her Baby-Pop went around the stall and picked out red and purple tulips to be made into a bouquet. She wondered what he was up to and would soon get an answer after he paid for the flowers.
"So for what reason would you get these anyway, Baby-Pop?"
His smirk became a smile as he held out the bouquet to her, much to her surprise. "What reason do I need to get you flowers?"
"Wh-What?" she stuttered out, a slight blush on her face.
"The red tulips symbolize passion and love, while the purple tulips symbolize royalty. The perfect combination for my Dancing Flame, the Rock n Roll Queen."
The blush on Ember's face intensified and her core pulsed a mile a minute as she accepted the bouquet. This was the second time her Baby-Pop has given her flowers and for no reason other than he wanted to. Hell the first time he did it back in London they weren't even dating and he did because he cared for her.
"Thank you, Baby-Pop. I love them," replied Ember before leaning up to kiss him, which he gladly returned. When they separated one concern did pop into her head. "But wouldn't have been better to get these later? I don't want these to wither from carrying them around all day."
"Well, I couldn't wait until later to get them for you," said Danny with a slight blush on his face as he rubbed the back of his head. "Plus, I'll just have a doppelganger take them back to the hotel room and put them in some water while we explore the rest of the city."
A slight grin appeared on Ember's face. "Sounds like a plan, Baby-Pop."
While Danny discreetly created a doppelganger and had it take the tulips back to the hotel, Danielle had a question about something that caught her eye.
"Hey, Danny? Is there supposed to be something flying around the clock tower over there?"
The teens looked at the ghostling in confusion before looking towards where the Munttoren was, only to see that there was indeed something, or in this case someone, flying around it.
"Why? Why can't we just have a normal vacation for once?!" hissed out Ember, glaring at the ghost that she KNEW would be ruining her time here.
"It'll be asking for a lot, but if we're lucky this ghost won't be hostile," replied Danny with a sigh. "I'll go check it out."
"Just be careful, Baby-Pop."
Giving Ember a quick kiss on the cheek, Danny then made sure no one was watching as he transformed and then went invisible to fly over to the Munttoren to confront the possible threat.
He REALLY hoped it wasn't a threat.
As he got closer to the clock tower, he got a better look at the ghost. It was a girl, the same age as him and Ember. She had pale skin and flowing blonde hair. Her outfit…showed a LOT of skin. She wore a light blue jacket over a black bikini top, with a VERY short black skirt, as well as black heels.
Stopping just a few feet from her, Danny tried to get her attention. "Um, excuse me?"
Red eyes turned to him in surprise before they turned into a sultry look. "Well hello there, handsome! What brings you over my way?"
With a slight blush at being called handsome, Danny cleared his throat before continuing. "I actually noticed you flying over here and I…"
"Wanted to spend time with me? I'm sure we can…come to a deal," she replied with a flirty grin.
'…And that's my cue to get out of here,' thought the Halfa, wanting and needing to get back to Ember ASAP.
Before he could take off though, the girl grabbed onto his arm.
"What's your hurry, stud? Don't you want to spend time with little ol' me?" she asked, fluttering her eyelashes.
"I don't even know your name," replied Danny, giving her a narrowed look.
"Oh, silly me. The name's Winona," she answered with a wave of her arm, creating a small breeze that wasn't natural.
'Okay, so she's a wind elemental ghost. Fitting for a country filled with windmills,' thought Danny before prying Winona off of him. "Look, Winona, I only came over to see if anything was wrong and seeing as there's not, I really need to get back to my girlfriend."
This only made Winona let out a huff. "Oh please. You wouldn't be the first guy with a girlfriend to come to me, so don't try to act all noble on me."
"…I'm out of here," stated Danny in a deadpan tone as he took off, leaving behind a pouting Winona.
Even though he couldn't hear her, she spoke. "Don't think you can get away from me that easily, stud."
If only Danny knew what was to come during the rest of his stay here.

Much like the Singapore chapters I had a hard time with this one. Whereas with Singapore I had trouble with the landmarks to showcase, with Amsterdam I had trouble coming up with a villain. Every other "Ghost of the Day" that has been featured in this story had something to do with the city they debuted in. I had no idea what to do for Amsterdam, at least until I came up with Winona.
Originally she was going to be a male ghost named Zephyr. He was still going to be a wind elemental and would actually try to steal Ember away from Danny…and that was it. He didn't really have anything to do with Amsterdam unless you count him being a wind elemental.
I went with Winona instead mainly because I realized that Danny doesn't have any female villains anymore. After the end of the series, Spectra and the Lunch Lady are the only female villains he has now since Ember, Kitty, Desiree, and Dora are all now on Danny's side. That I felt I could do a bit more with her than I could with Zephyr.
Anyway, the song this chapter's title in based on is…
"Amsterdam, The First Days" (3:10) – Brainbox
Give it a listen to when you get the chance. Also, now that I have a villain for this city, I should be able to get the second half out a lot sooner.
