A/N: EDIT: Seems this idea flopped. Oh well. Was more a test than anything else.
Wanted to update "Shed no Grace on Me", and two other bigger stories today, but I'm still feeling out of it. In a daze, as it were.
I swear, it feels like all I do is work, work, WORK sometimes. And when I don't, I sleep.
Case in point, I wasted most of today sleeping. Also forgot to eat.
Aaaaand now I don't have time to write properly before work!
*flips desk*
As ever we're still sticking to the "Embers" rule here, folks. If folks don't like this...well, I won't continue something no one likes. Every review, every comment, no matter how large or small, keeps me writing in spite of my busy work schedule. I don't get days off anymore, so I try to respond when I can, but lately it feels like this has become a job in and of itself; albeit one I don't get paid for, one that it is often thankless...
So here we are, a fragment that never came, so on, so forth, etc...
As ever, I own no quotes, references, media or memes.
Hopefully this puts a great big smile on your face.
Again, this is a teaser. For what, you ask?
Read and see.
"I won't stop. This is a war. And I...want more."
You managed to summon me while I was still alive, good on ya.
But now our contract's up; I've got a war and a wife to go back to~!"

A Most Unlikely Usurper
The dragon roared.
Kotomine Kirei felt the noise rattle his very bones from on high.
A great black beast descended through dark clouds, quite possibly the largest he'd ever seen in his life. And there, standing atop its head...!
He glimpsed tawny blond hair and knew who it was. Dragon aside, only one servant was this bold, this brash. And why wouldn't he be? All the others were dead. Only he remained. He who had taken on all challengers, he who had felled them with wit and will, he who had stood aside and waited until this moment.
He who finally made his move. Wretched, clever servant.
"Jeez!" A merry voice filled the blighted sky. "You guys really made a mess of things this time around! How'd you let it get this bad?!"
A golden flash was his only warning, followed by the rasp of drawn steel escaping its sheathe.
Rider vaulted off his mount and alighted nimbly before him. Kirei raised an arm-
Said arm flew through the air.
The rest of him splattered to the ground, cleaved in half.
Golden boots trod over him. Kirei followed him with a bleary eye. "No...!"
"Well, you know what they say. you want something done right, do it yourself."
A hand swept out As he looked on aghast, a golden hand grabbed the black grail, that mass of twisted of darkness that would give birth to Angra Mainyu. Squeezed. Twisted. A servant shouldn't be able to touch the grail without being weakened. Absorbed. And yet as Rider -Usurper!- continued to squeeze, the creature within howled in pain.
"Its a shame, really." Rider hummed, ignorant to its cries. "I really thought I could use this wish to help her. But there's no point in it now, is there? A wish with this thing would just kill the world.
The sound grew higher, sharper, shriller, until...
.
..
...with an awful keening sound, it popped like a soap bubble.
"Aaaand done," Rider hummed, "There. I did my part! Now I can go back to Rhaenyra with a clean conscience." he thumbed his chin, looking toward the horizon, where the sun was even now being its slow ascent. The long night was over at last, and he didn't even seem to care. "Wonder how she and the kids are doing..."
Kirei gurgled wetly at his feet. "Damn...you...!"
"Oops. Almost forgot." Keen blue eyes swept back to regard him. "Can't have you surviving. "Let 'em have it, girl! Dracarys!"
His mighty partner reared back, jaws gaping wide. Flame flickered within.
Kotomine Kirei had time for one last thought. Fire and blood.
His world dissolved into a haze of napalm.
And he knew no more.
A/N: The fate of this teaser depends on you, and its bloody obvious where it comes from.
*cough* House of the Dragon/Naruto crossover *cough*
In short, its a potential tease for a different story that may or may not come down the line.
And there we go. With luck, I'll see you guys and gals again in a few hours, time and life permitting.
Or not. I don't know. Need to have a word with my bosses(s) about all this extra work.
So...in the immortal words of Atlas...
...Revieeeeew, Would You Kindly?
No previews once again.
So terribly tired.
R&R! =D
