The bat had gotten stuck in a commode, apparently he had one girl so scared that she knocked him into a toilet but luckily she didn't stay behind to flush him. Lucy gagged when she saw the bat squiring about in the can and realized what she was going to have to do.

"Fishing a bat out of a toilet." She said making rubber gloves magically appear on her hands. "My life has reached an all time low."

Her gloved hands plucked the soggy bat from the commode and when he didn't move, she gave him a little poke.

"Hey, are you alive or what?" She asked.

The bat suddenly started to cough up water and when he became oriented again, he jumped from her hand and took the form of Natsu. Natsu who was now soaked in toilet water, which made this all the more embarrassing for him.

"Oh hi Lucy." He grinned nervously.

"What the hell are you doing here?" Lucy asked him. "And why are you walking around during the daytime? You're a vampire. You should be disintegrating into ash right now."

"Unless of course I wear this."

Natsu produced a tube from his shirt and handed it to her Lucy.

"Anti-Solar?" She read the label.

"It's sunblock for vampires. My brother invented it." Natsu explained. "It gives every species of nosferatu, a coating that reflects all forms of solar energy away from their bodies. Cool huh?"

"Impressive." She admitted. "So why are you here? Even if you have a way to protect yourself from the sun, it's still dangerous for you to appear in the mortal realm like this. Surely you know how mortals feel about the supernatural? And what are you doing flying around in the girls bathroom, you pervert?"

Natsu blushed.

"First of all, flying in here specifically was an accident. Zeref's sunblock may prevent me from getting fried like an egg, but it's still hard for me to see in the sunlight. Second, I came to here to make amends for the last accident I caused. You know, when I flew into your face and caused you to crash into a dumpster?"

His blush increased and he rubbed the back of his neck nervously, recalling the rather embarrassing mistake.

"Make amends?" Lucy said skeptically. "How?"

For a moment he heard a voice in his head speak to him. A voice that sounded very much like his brother's and it was telling him that he shouldn't be doing this. That pursuing a witch, especially one that comes from the Fiore bloodline was just asking for trouble. According to both monsters, magic-users, and even mortals, if any man dared to take up a Fiore woman, he would live briefly in the euphoria of her love until meeting an untimely and tragic fate. This was mostly due to Anna, her daughter, and her granddaughters having a past of getting back at those who were foolish enough to break their hearts. But despite the rumors, Natsu was still drawn to Lucy beyond all reason. He was so gone, he couldn't come back if he wanted to.

"Well tomorrow night is a blood moon and do you...Do you know what happens in the Other Realm when there's a blood moon?"

Now back in the day, in the Mortal Realm, it was believed that a blood moon was when witches, vampires, werewolves, goblins, and other creatures would gather together to hunt for human flesh or cast wicked spells. So the mortal women and children would spend the nights safely hidden in their homes while the mortal men would go out to protect their villages and towns from these threats by either slaying the creatures or leaving them offerings. But in the Other Realm, these creatures would gather together and throw wild and thrilling celebrations. Ones with bonfires, dancing, and music. It was basically their way of being proud of their race as opposed to how the mortals viewed them.

But as the mortals forgot the existence of the paranormal with time and as the monsters and magic users grew to dislike each other, the celebrations and the hunts or offerings ceased entirely. Well...Almost entirely.

"Yes I know what they do." Lucy said. "They have a big party, or they used to. They stopped having them after magic users and monsters stopped getting along. Witches and warlocks couldn't stop casting hexes and curses, werewolves got too vicious and gluttonous, and vampires became too snobbish and overcome with bloodlust. No offense."

"None taken. But you know, some of us still have those parties."

"You do?"

"Yeah. Those of us who just want to have fun and don't really care for all prejudice shit. I celebrate it every year with some friends of mine and I swear to you, it's one of the biggest and most exciting events ever."

"So?"

"So I was wondering..." He twiddled his thumbs anxiously. "I was wondering if maybe you'd want to go with me this year?"

"Like as your date or something?" She asked him.

"Yeah."

"Tempting offer." She said. "But I don't date vampires. It's nothing personal, your species just isn't known for being a monogamous one."

"Mono-what? You mean that kissing disease?"

"No." She chuckled. "What I mean is, vampires have a history of filling around and taking more than one lover. I've heard that they'll take multiple lovers even if they're married. Am I wrong?"

Natsu wanted to deny it but he couldn't because she was right. Vampires were charming, romantic, and extraordinarily good-looking, but not very faithful. Hell, his father was still married but he had his own harem. This was because vampires had descended from bats who were a polygynous species, so vampires were typically not satisfied with just one partner for life. Though shockingly, Natsu's mother had always been true. Even when she was given permission to take a few lovers of her own, she refused have any man except for Natsu's father.

"It's because my family on my father's side descended from the Yellow-Winged Bat, one of the few bat species to mate for life." She had explained to her sons when they asked her about it once. "I guess I take more after that side than the Jamaican Fruit Bat on my mother's side."

Zeref must've taken after that side too, because he had never shown any interest in taking a lover. At least not until he met his study girlfriend Mavis, a vampire who descended from the Albino Bat species, and since meeting her, he had shown no interest in any other female. Now Zeref was quite a catch, handsome and intelligent, comes from an impressive family. Other lady vampires would throw themselves at him and yet he only had eyes for Mavis. Natsu wasn't sure if he had inherited that same faithfulness gene.

"Alright so we won't make it a date." Natsu said. "Invite your cousins and we'll just make it a group of friends hanging out."

"I might go for that." Lucy said. "But I don't know about Erza and Juvia. Erza always thought events like that lead to chaotic, drunk feasts and Juvia's half mortal, so I'm not sure if she'd fit in or not."

"Well if none of you want come, I understand. I was just trying to be nice and make it up to you all for the trouble I've caused." He said. "But if you change your mind, I'll be staying in that old, deserted, smoke-house that's about a mile away from your house. In the back woods."

"Okay. I'll let you know what we decide and- Wait a minute, how do you know where I live? And for that matter, how did you even find me here?" She asked suspiciously. "Have you been following me?"

"Umm..." Natsu blushed for a third time. "Actually I've been tracking you. But it's not what you think, I wanted to apologize to you last night so I sniffed out where you live, but I forgot that your kind sleeps at night. So I waited until morning, but I overslept and that's how I ended up coming here."

"That's creepy, and I think illegal in some areas of the world."

"I know but I didn't know any other way to talk to you. I swear to you, I'm not a stalker or anything like that. I promise."

Lucy didn't look fully convinced. She was almost certain that he was one of those perverse, stalker vampires she had read in horror-romance novels. It was probably only a matter of time before he creeped into her bedroom at night while she was asleep and put the bite on her neck.

But that suspicion didn't stop her from noticing his impressive physique. Or his tan skin which was most unusual for a vampire or his high cheekbones or his wide black eyes or his generous mouth or that perfect smile full of crooked teeth that she thought had to be the most adorable thing she had ever seen. It strange was, his teeth were terribly uneven and out of place yet his smile couldn't be more perfect.

"I have to get back to class now." Lucy said. "And you should probably get out of here before someone sees."

"Are you ever going to talk me again after this?" He asked.

"We'll see." She said. "I'll have to talk my cousins about it, see if they think you're a creep or not."

"That's fair I guess. See you later then, hopefully."

He turned himself into a bat again and flew out the window.
