Hello everyone! How are you all doing? I'm here with a new chapter to this story. Something you might like a little, but it will be something that kind of changes my system of how the story arc works. But before it begins, let me ask you guys a question after so long, which is this:
Does anyone remember Rachel, Amandla, and Pierce? Aka Carla, Bia, and Tiago? Well, it's been almost 7 years since Rio 2, and by now, if they were to bring them back for any possible Rio continuum, could we really be expecting to see the same young blue triplets we know and love? Or will they be a little more grown up?
Also, I remember when I published my last chapter, I asked if you guys had any ideas on how to help this saga continue. How come no one has given an answer yet? Or even an answer to the other one about what you wanted the next chapter to be about? …(Cricket sounds)… Oh well. The chance to respond to those Qs are still open. But until then, is anyone up for reading?

Chapter Forty Five: Real in Rio Again Part 4
Just when things seemed to go according to plan…they end up being an "out of the frying pan and into the fire" moment. That was what one certain cockatoo thought.
It was pitch black for a moment, everything was unseeable until the pair of eyes started opening, and it was revealed to be Nigel the Cockatoo's point of view. He opened his eyes, stood up from the floor he was laying on, and tried to stay up as he felt a headache bothering him. But by disregarding it, he stood on his talons and focused on his surroundings.
He had his wings held on the bars of a cage, just a few inches taller than him, and he looked terrified as he knew he was at the smugglers' hideout again, in the room where all the other birds were locked up. Making him become shocked to see them all again so soon. He turned his head, trying to observe the whole room while his cage was on the floor and against the wall where the window was. He saw many small and big birds, some old, many young, and strangely, he noticed that one of them was a bat.
"I was framed! They got the wrong guy!" The bat said, and then Nigel heard one other macaw say, "Pretty bird! Pretty bird! I'm a pretty bird! Hahaha!" Making Nigel feel a little creeped out. Then he looked straight and saw his friends.
Blu and Jewel were inside their own cage, and so were Rafael and Eva, Mikka and Leo, Angel, Carlos and Sophia, Nico, Pedro, and Luiz. Every pair, individual bird, and dog was in their own cage, and unlike the ones Nigels didn't know, they were asleep. Nigel felt confused, but looked around again, making sure there was no one else around to listen, and he whispered, "Guys?" The group didn't respond, so Nigel tried again. "Guys! Guys! Wake up!" He said the last words in annoyance.
Then to his surprise, another voice came up. "I wouldn't bother with that, handsome."
"Huh?" Nigel looked up, poking his head out of his cage, and saw the one bird he feared to see again. "You. It's…it's you."
"Yeah, it's me. Hehe." It was the female cockatoo, laughing at his response, and then she performed an acrobatic jump from the roof of the cage to the floor.
"Whoa." Nigel mumbled, feeling impressed by her move.
"Hmhm." She chuckled again, and then said, "So good to see you again, but I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Chama. That means flame, by the way."
"Uh, hi…Chama." Nigel felt his heart beating, noticing how beautiful she looked.
"I have to be honest…when I first came upon you guys, I was kind of expecting less of a fight. But boy, did you prove me wrong."
"Wha…? Oh. I remember. You snuck into our place and knocked us out."
"Sure. If you wanna give the abridged version."
Two hours ago…
While Blu and Jewel were safe inside the hospital, and their adoptive parents stayed outside the building, the rest of the gang were also safe in their place. Luiz's garage. Where Rafael, Eva, Nico, Pedro, Luiz, Angel, and Nigel were hanging out. All of them were inside the garage doing their own things.
Nigel was working out, doing some crunches while holding onto a sealing beam, and seeing his friends sitting around watching TV. Not playing through the news that was on earlier.
Angel, Blu's younger adoptive sister, was with them. But unlike them, she had her wing tip tapping on the floor and showing a worried face. Until she finally said something. "Hm." She turned over to Nico and Pedro. "Hey guys, I know this makes me sound like a worry wart and all…but you sure Blu and Jewel will be safe?"
"You kiddin', girl?" Pedro responded. "This is Blu and Jewel we're talkin' about. Those two are capable of handling anything."
Nico, "Plus, they're with Linda and Tulio at the hospital near the jungle. What man-made place can be safer?"
Angel, "Well…I don't know. Look I know you guys are confident for many reasons, but this is my brother I'm thinking about. He, as well as Jewel and you guys, have done a lot of good for me ever since I was born. I just don't like the idea of him putting himself in danger."
Eva, "Trust me, sweetie, we don't either. Mom and Dad, and Mikka and Leo didn't feel sure of it. But like Pedro said, they can handle anything."
Angel, "But not everything. Hm…" Angel sighed. "You know what, could you guys give me a moment alone? I think I need some air."
"Sure." The four friends replied, not appearing to have any problem with her going out, and she did. But not too far past the exit.
Angel walked out of the garage, thinking about her brother, and Nigel saw her walking out. He wanted to continue his work out, and felt he needed to do otherwise. So he let go of the beam, and hovered near Angel.
"Excuse me, Angel?" Nigel got her attention.
Angel turned and said to him, "Uh, sorry Nigel. I said I wanted to be alone."
"I know you did. But can I at least say something before you do?"
"Okay?"
"As you already know, I'm the one who discovered where those smugglers and captive birds were, and informed you all about it. But I'm not the one who suggested Blu and Jewel use themselves as bait."
"I know, I'm not blaming you for this or anything, if that's what you're thinking."
"I'm aware of that." Nigel chuckled. "I'm just telling you that like you, I don't want to see our friends get hurt either. While I may not know what it's like to have a brother, I know what it's like to have close friends. Blu and Jewel have pretty much been the first ones to me. And not just since the night they found and helped me, but in my life entirely."
"Huh, what do you mean?"
"I might've mentioned this to you before, but…before Blu and Jewel, I was a South American idol. The star of a famous blockbuster called 'Fly Hard.' I also had a TV, I was (and still technically am) over one foot too, and had nearly everything I wanted. Until they got some pretty parrot to fill my shoes. And because of that, I hit rock bottom, and I thought it was going to stay that way until I met your brother. If it weren't for him and Jewel, I…I don't think I'd be the bird that I am right now."
"Wow." Angel mumbled. "I…I mean you told that story before, but I didn't think you felt like that about it."
"Yep. They're my friends almost as much as yours. I don't want to think about putting them in danger, but they chose to do this. And I don't want to see those birds go through a hardship even worse than what I went through. In fact…there's also another reason why I wanted to help. Something that's been bothering me since I found that place, and I haven't told anyone else yet."
"Okay, what is it? If you feel like it's something that's bothering you, then just tell me. It's okay."
"Alright." Nigel breathed in for a moment, and let go, feeling he was about to confess a bad feeling. "Angel, when I found their hideout, seeing that nightmare of a scene made me think about…WHOA!"
Nigel was interrupted when a sudden purple streak flew past between him and Angel.
"What the…? HEY!" The two turned and heard that coming from Nico, who then yelled, "What happened to the TV?!" The seven friends were surprised to see their whole TV set broken.
"What the heck was that?" Angel asked.
Nigel, "I don't…hang on." He looked over at the other side of the street. He saw the buildings, street lights on, but the rest of the area was too dark. "Angel?"
"Yeah?"
"Get down!" He helped Angel duck down before another purple streak appeared. They thought it was coming towards them, but instead it aimed up and shot at one of the garage's light bulbs.
"Whoa." Nico and Pedro said in shock.
"Boys? What's going on?" Eva asked in fear.
Rafael put his wing on her shoulder, and before he could answer, another lightbulb went out. Then another, and another. Whatever was causing it kept repeating with all the lightbulbs inside until the garage was pitch black.
"Okay, now I'm scared." Said Luiz, and everyone knew how he felt.
No one could see anything, and felt their talons or paws shaking. So Nigel took Angel's shoulder and whispered, "Don't move. Whoever's doing this is not shortsi-OW!" He felt something suddenly hit his top beak, and it ricocheted to Angel's mouth.
"Whoa! Gah!" Angel felt the thing go down her throat, feeling it was hard to swallow until she did it and sat down, gasping for air a little.
"Angel, are you alright?"
"I-I-I don't know. What the heck was that?"
Nigel looked again to the other side of the street, seeing a dark alley between the street lights, feeling suspicious until he gasped, "Angel, let's run!" He took his friend's wing and they ran inside.
Nico hovered up and said, "What's wrong, ya see something?!" He felt like panicking until something flew through the air again and zoomed into his mouth. "Ugh!" He swallowed it too. Then he fell, somehow being unable to hover any further.
"Ow!" Nico said. Luiz and Pedro moved up to his side to help, but two more of those things flew into both their mouths next.
"Ugh! Dang, that's gross!" Pedro complained.
"Stay behind me, sweetie." Rafael told Eva, to which she did, but as she peeked at the alley, she became the next victim. "Eva!" Rafael panicked and helped her up before she fell. "Nigel, what-?" Then Rafi got shot next.
All of Nigel's friends were shot with the purple things that ended up in their mouths, and they all started feeling sleepy. Including Angel, who was unable to stand up.
"N-Nigel?" Angel stuttered.
"Angel! Stay with me, it's okay." Nigel tried helping her up, before she started to fall asleep. "Nigel…" was her last word, and as she was unconscious, Nigel gently placed her down and checked her pulse. Which seemed slow but good, making Nigel sigh in relief but fear to look back at the alley.
So he finally yelled, "HEY! Whoever you are, enough of these tricks! Leave my friends alone now!"
"Aww…" Nigel suddenly heard another girl's voice. "…sorry friend, but I unfortunately can't afford that now. Luckily for you though, I ran out of ammo."
"Huh?" He was confused, until he felt a strong force push him down. "Ow!" He was able to turn and was surprised to see the female cockatoo, Chama, pin him down.
"Oh wait, I lied. I still have some left." She carried one of those purple pills in her wing again, and was ready to drop down into Nigel's mouth. Making him freak out. Until he used his talons, and pushed her stomach. "Ow, what the…?!" Then he forced her to do a front flip over him.
"Whoa." Chama suddenly chuckled. "Normally I'm the one who surprises people."
"Well…now y-you're not the only one." Nigel stuttered out of embarrassment.
"We'll see about that." Chama smiled, and tried to throw her next pill at Nigel, but unlike the others, he successfully dodged it. So he hovered up to avoid her.
Chama felt impressed, and hovered next, trying to strike at him. Nigel avoided every attack, but felt tired while racing through the whole garage.
"Come on, what's the hurry, tough-guy?!" Chama said.
Nigel, "My hurry is that you're attacking us for nothing! What do you want?!"
"Now where's the fun in telling you? Haha!"
The two cockatoos continuously flew through the area inside. Nigel did his best to not let her get close, but then by approaching one of the shelves, he stood his ground near a small (literal) bucket of bolts. Chama saw him and just landed on the second closest ceiling support beam, giving a cocky grin.
Nigel peeked at the bucket and said, "So you like playing military covert, do you?"
Chama chuckled, "Sure. I don't really call it that, but sure."
"Then try this on for size!" He took one bolt out of the bucket at time, trying to fire at Chama like she did to them…but Nigel did not fire right. Every bolt he threw just went around Chama, so she didn't move an inch and not even crack a smile. And once he threw the last bolt, Nigel was out of breath.
"Huh. Now I know how stormtroopers feel."
"And now that you're done…" Chama smiled again, and speedily dived down at Nigel. "Ah!" The two screamed, while falling from the shelf, and were in immediate close combat. With talons and wings, they tried fighting each other but none of them could make a scratch on the other.
Then finally, Nigel pinned her down. "You're done!" He yelled, hoping he was able to stop her from hurting anyone, until he heard choking. He noticed he was holding her down near the throat hard, making him worry and decided to let go of fear and pity. After that, he stared at her coughing, afraid that he was going too far.
So he said, while carefully approaching her, "I'm…I'm sorry, ma'am. I-I didn't mean to hurt you like that, or at all, for that matter. I was just protecting my friends."
"Your…your friends?" Chama looked confused, but stood up and breathed slowly while rubbing her throat. "Is that what it was about? Because to me it looked like you enjoyed hurting me."
"What? N-No, never. I never want to hurt anyone."
"I don't know. I've seen that kind of fire in people's eyes before. It's almost…" She stopped herself at her words. She began moving closer to Nigel, moving her talons slowly, walking toward him, and making him a little uncomfortable. "…it's almost…"
"What are you doing?" Nigel asked, feeling too scared to move.
"Your eyes. Like I said, I've seen the kind of fire in people's eyes like yours, but compared to yours…they don't seem long lasting."
"What?" Nigel had his cheeks burning red, and felt himself experiencing a sensation unlike any other. He remembered dating so much in his old life, but what he was currently in was not the same. "What…what do you plan to do now?" That was the only thing he could say, and still felt his talons shaking.
"Maybe…" Chama began speaking more slowly. "…I can look a little closer. See if there is anything different in those beautiful eyes as you said."
"B-Beautiful?"
"Oh yeah. I will admit, it's not everyday a girl gets to come across a bird's eyesight like yours. Which makes me feel good enough…to…do…" She shut her eyes too, and Nigel felt she was going to kiss his cheek. So he turned his head, expecting what he thought would be a good feeling after that fight. Until…
"…THIS!" Chama yelled, causing Nigel to turn, and let her hit him in the head with the bottom end of a wrench. The hit was so hard that Nigel fell on his back. His ears were ringing and he couldn't control his head or thoughts. But only saw Chama smiling down on him, and heard her say, "Sorry, buddy. It's nothing personal, but what is personal…" She leaned her head closer to his, "…is that I make sure I get what I want, and my bosses get what they deserve." Then suddenly she winked at him, confusing Nigel…until she hit him again, that time…out cold.
Once Nigel finished focusing on that flashback, he looked back at Chama, who was still smirking at him.
Nigel growled and asked, "Did I also forget to mention that you hit me in the head? Extremely hard, in fact!"
"Yeah, sorry. In my defense, I was going to make it easy on you by giving you all these pills." She made one of those purple pills appear on her left wing like a magician.
Nigel was surprised and gave her another question in anger. "What the heck are those?"
"Nothing dangerous. Just special medicine that vets normally use to help the animals go to sleep for a bit. However these specific maggots are a little more delicate since they keep them asleep just a little longer." She looked at Blu and Jewel. "Yep. I'd say they'll be out until later in the early morning. Perhaps 4am."
"Then why am I awake now?"
"Because, genius, you never took one of these. I only brought you in with them 'cause I knocked you out good. Fighting is pretty much a major league sport for me."
"Okay, but…grr! I don't get it. How on earth did you find us? How were you able to find Blu and Jewel?"
"Oh please. If you must know one thing it's this: I've seen your work, Nigel. I've seen a lot of your appearances on TV and I have to admit, I'm a big fan. Though, while I know you're a great actor, I also know that you're not good at doing the actual part. Like being a spy for that matter. That night when you came over and saw this little prison, I saw you by the window!"
Her words shocked Nigel to the core. "What? How's that possible? I made sure I'd stay out of sight."
"Maybe, but unlike you, I've done real spy work in my work. I was able to notice your feathers and talon stand up while hiding near the window edge. Then when you flew away, I was able to stay below you and follow you to your home. Just to see if you were tattle on my bosses. And thankfully…my waiting paid off."
Nigel understood more of what she meant. "You followed me to the club."
"Oh yeah. I followed you to the club, stayed outside the tent while hearing you tell your friends, and heard everything about your plan on how to set these birds free and make my bosses go to jail. By having Blu and Jewel bait themselves, putting new cameras in the room where they would catch my bosses' faces, or that Fernando kid's face, and then have your other friends follow them to the hideout where they could work together to unlock all the cages undetected. And I have to admit…if I was like one of those incompetent bad guys from your shows, your friends' plan would've worked with flying colors. But it didn't since I was able to inform my bosses of everything and knock all of you out to bring you here. Not including those two humans who are only knocked out and still in the hospital. So, boo-hoo for you and hurray for my bosses."
"Hey!" Nigel yelled. "No offense, but are you out of your mind?! Do you seriously feel comfortable about this? Look at these birds and other creatures in cages here. Many of them have friends and family, and they won't be able to see them again. You'll let your smuggling bosses take them away to who knows where."
"Wow. You know I haven't thought of that. But if I'm being honest, I don't care. Because like I said, I only care about getting what I want and making sure my bosses get what they deserve."
"And what is it that you want exactly? What can those kinds of humans possibly give you that would make all of this madness so satisfying? And also, 'making sure they get what they deserve'? What on earth does that mean?"
"Nothing that concerns you." Suddenly, Chama winked again, confusing Nigel again. "All you need to know is that if you want you and your friends to stay safe, you stay here and don't touch anything. Just…go with the flow." Chama then turned her back, planning to walk away.
"My friends are going to feel very differently about that when they wake up."
Then Chama stopped, and said without turning, "Your friends? Are you talking about the same friends you put in danger?"
"What? No, I never-"
"I'm sorry but it looks like you did. Maybe if you all had stayed in the garage or that jungle room together, you would've had a better fighting chance against me. Or better yet, if you had left well enough alone, not telling your friends about our project in the first place, you guys would've been safe all the way. Blu and Jewel would be safe and unscaved. So would all your other amigos. But nope, you did what you thought was right but did it the wrong way. Let's see if they'll feel good about that when they wake up."
Nigel wanted to protest, but as she said that, he looked back at his unconscious friends and replayed everything in his mind at what happened. He still remembered the time when he met Blu and Jewel, and had the best experiences with them and the rest of the gang…but saw what his chance to repay them all resulted in. A chance to unwillingly leave their home forever. So he brought his head down in shame, and imagined Chama smiling at him in a mockery gesture as she hovered away to the next room.
"What have I done?" Nigel mumbled. Then he thought of something else. "Wait. Fernando? Who is Fernando?"
But unbeknownst to him, as Chama moved to the next room, she sat on someone's shoulder. It was the shoulder of her main boss of the three smugglers all together, who laughed and said, "Nice work, Chama."
"Yeah, nice work, Chama." Mumbled one of the other smugglers sitting on a couch from the other side. Chama heard him and made a small threatening squawk. Then she heard the third one ask, "Hey boss, remind me again, what ever happened to the kid that was supposed to bring the two macaws?"
"Aw, who cares? All that matters Chama was able to get the job done, and amazingly did it without his help, even by bringing those extra animals in. Something that will hopefully give us a big bonus when the moolay rolls in." The boss chuckled with excitement.
"Yeah. 'Moolay.' It's always about the 'moolay.'" Chama thought to herself, and hovered to the ceiling beam next, where she looked through an open vent to take a look at the outdoor area and was deep in her own thoughts. "I don't think I've ever seen any humans that didn't care about anything that was better than money. But hey, I don't care what they think. All I care about is making sure they get what's coming to them on the plane, and hopefully Fernando can help with that later." As she was still thinking that, she looked up at the moon, admitting something big about herself to herself. And if Nigel had heard that, he would've thought something else besides the situation he and his friends were stuck in…before the next part.
More Notes & Disclaimers:
• "Chama": That's her. The female cockatoo that is Nigel's replacement and crush. At first I thought about naming her Gabi, after our frog friend, but if someone else already did that, this alternative seemed better. That or some other reason. So, this OC of mine is named Chama the Cockatoo. Which is Portuguese for "flame." But for the record, I again state that I haven't read any other fanfictions with female cockatoo, so I don't know how similar Chama will be to your OCs.
• "and still technically am": Even though Nigel still went through rock bottom, Blu and Jewel found him and helped him get his mojo back in 2007. So because of that, he became humble…and cleaner and stronger. Which means in this timeline, he looks different from the way he does in the movie.
• "other side of the street": In the first film, unless I wasn't paying attention enough, Luiz's garage looked like it had a wall in front of it instead of buildings. The second movie looked like the opposite. So if I'm right, then in this version, I'm just gonna stick to the front door neighborhood buildings idea.
• "front flip": Think of it as a combat technique similar to that point in the Lion King. When Simba pushed Scar over to make him off the cliff.
• "stormtroopers": LucasFilms and Disney IP.
Yeah you may have noticed some funny references there. Plus some drama. So now, how do you guys suppose Good Nigel will handle this situation for his friends? We'll find out soon. In fact…
Remember when I said I would be publishing my stories the same way DisneyPlus is with their seasons? Well, I'm still gonna do that, but this current story arc, which recreates the first film, is going to take a while and I want to work on other things too. So, let's say this arc is like a saga, and I'm going to finish the first arc of this saga in the next chapter. From there, I'll continue the Rio Movie adventure later on.
The next chapter will be the final part of "Real in Rio Again", and I'll work on it again after my other stuff. So it's kind of like what IDW did for Sonic when they made the Metal Virus Saga. A single saga that had multiple story arcs together. If that makes sense.
Also, for more details: At that part where Chama explains how she found out about everything, trying picturing it as another flashback scene if you want to read it again.
So for this new week now, unless you prefer to stick to reading what I published here, take a look at some of the new things I shared everywhere else.

Oh! And three more things:
To answer your question, Alex my friend: Yes, I have been watching the Book of Boba Fett. I've been able to see that, the Bad Batch, and the many other Star Wars and Marvel excitement from DisneyPlus. Again that's pretty much what's inspired me to continue my stories the way I'm doing now. Plus, I may even be forming them the way IDW comics does it with their series on Sonic and MLP.
To StormKnight, I know you sent an idea for what might come. Thank you, but I won't be using that idea. It is interesting though, and the idea of owning a breeding stock makes that character seem a little more rough than the previous foes that Blu and Jewel faced.
And you know what? Maybe for that part in the last chapter when Blu and Jewel are doing that role playing game, perhaps I can use that as like some kind of epilog when this saga is done.
Until then, see you next time. Let me know if you have other questions or ideas, and thanks again for reading and liking. And I'll be checking out other stories too.
