Hey everyone! How are you doing?
This is it. The final part of this arc before I continue the saga later, after releasing some more stories that hopefully you guys will find fun. Also, nevermind what I said earlier about how I was going to publish these arcs, or what I planned to publish further. I'll stick to whatever order I want and leave it at that without being too specific…for now.
Anyway, let me just point out to you guys that for everyone who sent a comment after my previous chapter, thank you. Thanks for always responding to my tales here, and know that I will respond to your current comments at the bottom A/N. Until then, let me also say to you that this chapter may be a long one, and it's going to leave you confused at the end.
(Please leave a comment and enjoy!)
Chapter Forty Six: Real in Rio Again Part 5
"Whoa…ow…kid electrocuted me? What happened?" Those were the very words that came across a certain someone's mind before he opened his eyes, and saw himself in a shady area. It was early in the morning, and felt weirded out with what happened, until he was able to recall everything. He was Blu. And he remembered trying to stay somewhere safe with Jewel. Only for them to still be caught in the way they didn't intend.
When Blu had opened his eyes, he looked around, seeing the whole area with birds inside cages. Then he heard a sudden clank and turned right. He saw a tall human trying to pick up a cage, and another one doing the same thing. It looked like they were talking, or listening to a third human that was in the other room, but Blu had trouble hearing them. He felt confused, and a little dizzy.
After a few seconds of looking around more, Blu looked forward and saw Nigel. Making him suddenly feel focused. "N-N-Nigel?" He tried speaking, but was still a little weak. "N-Nigel!"
Nigel the Cockatoo turned as he barely heard it. So he stood up, showing a worried look. "Blu?"
"N-Nigel? W-What's going on?"
"Oh." Nigel felt scared to explain. "Blu, they knew! They knew we were baiting them, so they captured us all. And it's…it was my fault!"
"W-What?" Blu couldn't hear well, but could see that Nigel looked guilty. "What is going on?" He looked up again, seeing the humans coming closer to his cage while carrying the others. Then he looked down to see Jewel still asleep, so he knelt down and tried shaking her. "J-Jewel? Jewel, wake up. I think we're…I think we're…" Blu felt himself beginning to collapse.
"Blu? Blu!" Nigel saw, trying to get his attention again, only to see him fall next to Jewel. "Blu!" Nigel shook his cage. Then one of the smugglers came down and picked up his cage. It was the leader, who replied, "Well, well, I guess we got a fighter here, boys." Nigel glared at him, wanting to fight back hard until he saw Chama land on his shoulder. Unlike before though, she didn't show any smug look. She just glared at him back and shook her head. As if she was warning him about something else. So Nigel stood still as he watched the humans still take everyone away, feeling more saddened than before.
Blu was still laying down near his wife, but losing consciousness. He tried hard looking into her face. "Jewel…Jewel…we're…in danger. I don't know what to do…without you." He slowly kissed his wife's cheek, and moved closer to her, hoping to keep her close. Until he finally fell back to sleep.
A few hours later, Blu opened his eyes again. "Whoa…" He moaned and mumbled, trying to sit up. "…that's a big doozy. Maybe this is how humans feel when they drink too much soda. Ugh." Finally after his last moment, he felt fully conscious. So he rubbed his eyes, and after opening them completely to look around…he became 100 percent awake. Because he knew he was no longer in the shady area, which was the smuggler trio's hideout. It was the inside of a small cargo plane.
"What the heck?" Blu whispered and once again saw Jewel asleep inside his shared cage. Then he saw Nigel in front of him. Each cage was on top of a large box next to the door to the cockpit.
Blu planned on speaking to his friend. But before he could, he was more focused on Nigel's expression. The cockatoo had his head down, looking sad and guilty. Making Blu confused, but ignored it as he was ready to speak.
"Psst! Nigel!" Blu whispered, hoping the smugglers and other cockatoo weren't around. "Nigel."
Nigel heard him and turned around. "Blu, you're awake?"
"Yeah, same as you. But never mind that. Help me out here. I think the rest of our friends are asleep, so I need you to help me open this cage."
"How? Last I checked you were the one who learned more about human things, including cages. Plus I'm more than two feet away from you while stuck inside my own cage. So I repeat the question: How am I supposed to help? And on top of that, why should I when I'm only gonna make things worse?"
"Say what?" Blu questioned. "What do you mean make it worse? Why would you ever-?"
"Because," Nigel interrupted. "I'm the reason why she found us."
"Huh? Nigel, you're not making any sense."
"Hours ago, before you…barely came to, I had a chat with our captor. The other cockatoo who attacked us. Her name is Chama, and she told me she knew. She knew about our plans."
"What? H-How's that possible?"
"Because she saw me. She saw me the other night when I discovered their hideout. Then when I wasn't looking hard enough, she followed me until I was able to talk to you all. So she knew of everything that we were planning and decided to get back at us. So…like I said, this is my fault."
"No. Nigel, there's no way this is your fault."
"And yet here we are. If I had chosen to leave well enough alone, then we wouldn't be in this mess."
"But everyone else in here still would be stuck. Do you not see that?"
"I don't know everyone here though."
"But you do know us. We've known each other since that night Jewel and I met you. You were in a tough spot, and since we didn't know then, we could've left there. But instead we chose to help you. We did that because it was the right thing to do. Just like what you did for us when you warned us about everyone getting captured."
"I know. That's pretty much the main reason why I did it. As like a repayment for what you and everyone else in our group did for me. And yet Chama made me see otherwise. I just led us into a big disaster.
"Nigel, that is not true. If there's one thing I know about you it's the fact that you're strong and kind-hearted. You have done a lot of good since you became a part of this family. So you have to believe me when I say that this is not on you, Nigel. We may be stuck right now, but we can still get out of this. We can wake everyone up, come up with a plan, get out of the cages, and set ourselves free. Everyone. And when this is all done, just remember that it happened because you never gave up. You helped us by freeing these birds and making sure these smugglers don't bother us again. So are you going to trust me and help me out here, or are you just gonna listen to a bird you've known in a shorter amount of time than you have with us, your friends?"
Nigel focused on Blu and his words, making them sync in deep. Knowing he was right. Blu and Jewel helped him when he had it rough, and he only wanted to help them and others too. So with that, he showed a determined look and nodded to Blu.
"Then what are we gonna do?"
Blu smiled, seeing his friend willing to keep moving forward. So Blu looked around the area more, and saw a fire extinguisher, giving him the best idea. "I think I know a way."
Sometime later, "Jewel. Jewel, come on. Wake up. Sweetie…" Blu tried waking up his wife, and softly patted her cheek before she came to.
"W-What? Blu?" Jewel opened her eyes, and yawned. "What's going on? Wow, my head hurts."
"It's okay, honey. I felt too when I woke up. But it won't last long."
"Huh?" Jewel looked around, and was suddenly shocked. "What the heck?! Blu, where-?!"
"Shh!" Blu responded and whispered, "Not so loud. Jewel, what do you remember from last night?"
"Last night?" Jewel tried to whisper. "Well…I remember we were inside the breeding room. Talking to each other and playing our game. But then…that cockatoo girl came and attacked us. Did she lock us up here?!" She began to look angry.
Blu noticed and replied, "Yes, she did, but-"
"Oh! When I see her again, I'm going to claw her eyes out and continue there by ripping her-!"
"Sweetie, sweetie, calm down! Believe me, I'm way past ticked off as you are, but we have a way to get out."
"What?" Jewel suddenly calmed down. "How?"
"Look." Blu pointed to a hook that was caught on the top of their cage, which was attached to the fire extinguisher. Then he said in a cocky tone, "As Nico and Pedro once said to me, 'I'm gonna pop this thing open like a soda can'." He made a determined grin, and then pushed against the extinguisher, hitting it repeatedly until it fell, and pried the bars on top of Blu and Jewel's cage. "Yes!" Blu cheered, and that and the extinguish woke the rest of the gang up.
"Huh?" "What the heck?" "I'm up! I'm up!" They all said. Nico, Pedro, Raf, Eva, Luiz, Angel, and the four parents were awake.
"Where are we?" Leo asked.
"Somewhere we can get out!" Blu smiled, and he and Jewel slipped through the opening. From there, they hovered and climbed around every spot, unlocking all the cages. Freeing everybody, including Nigel.
"Now this is poppin'!" Nico said as he was helping out.
"Good work, my friend." Nigel told Blu.
"Thanks. But we're not done yet."
"Yo, Birds." Luiz spoke as he was out of his cage. "How are we gonna get outta metal bird's belly here?"
"Don't worry. I'm gonna open the hatch. You guys just stand clear and get ready!" Blu gave the order, and as he flew up, he pulled the lever for the hatch.
The hatch opened, slowly going down, but as it did so, Blu heard a screech and saw Chama's talons trying to open the door from the cockpit. He worried she would come before they could leave, but before anyone could…
"Uh…Blu? You might wanna look ahead." Rafael said in fear.
Blu, "What, what's wro…ong?" He, like everyone else inside, saw the clear open view when the hatch opened, but the view was very clear. Because all they saw was the morning sky, clouds, and the ocean. No sign of Rio de Janeiro or any land at all. So he yelled out to a frozen Nigel, "Nigel? Nigel!" Then the cockatoo finally turned to him. "You were awake longer than the rest of us! How long have we been flying before I woke up?"
Nigel stuttered, "I-I-I don't know! I'm guessing over an hour, but-"
"An hour?!" Blu and the gang yelled.
Jewel, "We've been in this plane for over an hour and you didn't say anything to wake us up?!"
Blu, "Hey! Hey! Hey!" He hovered down and defended him. "Calm down, it's not his fault. I think…" He looked at the view again. Then sighed. "I think there's no other choice. We're all gonna have to fly out of here now!"
"What?!" Mikka said. "Blu, there's nothing out there, how are we gonna survive with-?"
Carlos, "Hang on! I think there is something out there! Look!"
Blu stepped in, looking a little closer (without touching the hatch), and saw a cloud in the distance moving. Once it moved over, everyone saw what looked like the city. So he said, "Uh…I think that's Rio! Maybe we didn't get that far off after all!"
"What?" Nigel said with confusion. "That's not possible, I know we've been gone for much longer than this. This can't be-"
Blu, "No, no, it's okay, Nigel. Despite what it is, I think it's better than here. Go, go, go!" He called out to every bird, and they flew out after Pedro cheered, "FREEDOM!" Everyone flew out gracefully, feeling excited to be home free. Unaware that some of the gang themselves stayed behind.
Luiz, "Well this has been pretty awesome. But, uh, how am I gonna get off? I can't fly?!"
"Maybe I can help with that." The group turned and saw their other friend, Kipo. He hovered and firmly grasped on Luiz, trying his best to carry him while they were far up in the air.
"WHOA!" Luiz chanted. Even though Kipo felt it was difficult, he tried his best to carry the excited bulldog. Keeping it straight with his altitude and making sure to not let go of Luiz despite the weight. But Luiz saw it as another hang-gliding experience. "Whoo-Hoo! I love Rio!"
Jewel, "You think they'll be okay?"
Blu, "I believe so. Luiz has had Kipo carry him through similar rides before. But now us, who is left? Nigel? … Mom, Dad, Angel, Rafael, Eva, Carlos, and Sophia?" He gave an attendance roll, and everyone nodded. "Alright. You guys head out. Get to safety. Jewel, do…uh…do you think could-"
"Carry you? Anytime. I know we can always figure it out and make it work."
Angel, "Hang on, you want us to get ahead? Are you sure, bro?"
Blu, "Yes, don't worry. I know it's pretty high, but we can do this. Trust us."
"But-" Angel wanted to protest, not wanting to see his brother in any danger like what they just went through. But then she felt a wing touch her shoulder, and turned to see it was Nigel.
"Trust them." He said.
Then Sophia, "Are you sure? You'll be okay?"
Blu, "Definitely. We'll figure this out together."
Angel and the other four were still unsure, but knew there was no other way. So Leo hovered to Mikka, and soon brought her and himself to the air, successfully flying up. Then Carlos and Sophia nodded, ready to go up. Once they left, hoping for their kids to catch up, Angel and Nigel still stayed behind.
Angel, "Be sure you catch up quick, okay?" Blu nodded to her request, and she flew off.
Nigel was ready to go next, but as he opened his wings…
"STOP!" A girl screamed. The three birds turned, and they saw it was Chama. Making them angry and terrified. She jumped from the boxes and walked to them, slowly saying, "What…do you think…you're doing?!"
"How about getting away from the likes of you?!" Blu snapped.
"No, you're not! You weren't supposed to escape this early!"
"Say what?" The three questioned.
"Listen to me! I hijacked the plane! I did all of this just to fool those three!"
Jewel, "What are you talking about? All you've been doing was trying to hurt us and lock us up in here! Now you're saying you're trying to help us?"
"Yes! You don't know what these kinds of people are capable of. I only captured all of you as a way to help make sure you would be brought somewhere safer and to make sure these creeps wouldn't find you again."
As Chama was talking, Jewel noticed one of the straps from the cages. So she slowly moved up to it as she kept talking. Then Nigel said, "That doesn't make any sense. If you're trying to help us, then why didn't you say anything? Why didn't you ask for our help or free us while we were still in Rio?"
"You wouldn't understand."
"Understand what?"
"You don't know me or the kind of work that I do. So it wasn't worth explaining."
Blu, "Well sorry, but somehow I doubt that."
Jewel, "Just like how I doubt you'll like this."
Chama turned, and noticed Jewel talking, before she suddenly threw the straps at her. "Ah!" They ended up tangling her, making her struggle, and then Jewel pounced on her. "Nigel! You get Blu out of here and-"
"What?! No!" Blu responded and attempted to run up to Jewel to help. Only for Chama to suddenly jump, and kick Jewel from the side. That move hit her so hard that she flew across the room and hit the wall.
"Ah!" Jewel reacted in pain, and as she planned to get up…a cage fell on her left wing…breaking it harshly. "AH!" She screamed.
"Jewel!" Blu was shocked. He ran over to help her.
"Oh, my wing."
Nigel just stared in horror, and so did Chama. But he didn't notice as he approached her and yelled, "WHAT IS THE MATTER WITH YOU?!"
"No, I didn't mean to-" Chama tried explaining herself, but as she stuttered, the cockpit door opened and Marcel the smuggler leader tripped in the process.
"YOU!" He yelled and tried getting up. Only for Chama to free herself from the straps and fly up to his face. "AH! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" He tried fighting her, while being confused as the three birds were.
"What the?" Blu, Jewel, and Nigel mumbled.
"Just go!" Chama yelled while still fighting. "Get out of here!"
The three were more confused, but just decided to listen. Blu gently helped Jewel up, and said to Nigel, "Come on, Nigel. We need to go. See if you can carry Jewel on your back, and you can carry me with your talons. Nigel? Nigel!"
Nigel looked at Chama and Marcel still fighting while they were standing away from them. Then when he heard Blu, he responded, "Huh? What?"
"You need to carry us both out of here!"
"I…I…no, I can't! Chama needs help!"
"What about Jewel? Her wing is broken!"
"Why can't you carry her then?"
"Because I still can't fly properly! I can't stay in the air if I get even half this high."
"How do you know? Look, Chama is in danger and you two need to go! You carry her!"
"I can't! I've tried, and I still can't do that."
Then Jewel spoke, "Why do you even want to help her, Nigel?! Despite what she's doing now, she's the one who started this!"
"No…I am. She says she was trying to help us, and she's currently fighting for us. Which means I ruined her chances of doing that and keeping all of us safe. So If what she's saying is true, then I can't leave her!"
Blu, "But Nigel-"
"No 'buts'! I'm doing it! You two are my friends. The best ones I've had in my life. I know you're capable of doing a lot of good, so you have to trust me." Blu and Jewel felt more hesitant about it until Nigel finally said, "I'm going to do for her what you two did for me. Now go!" He flew up, and joined the fight.
Meanwhile, Blu and Jewel looked at each other. Both were feeling too scared. Then they looked at the outside view.
Jewel, "Blu?"
Blu, "Yeah?"
To his surprise, Jewel kissed his cheek.
"I know you can do this. Just try."
Blu gulped, feeling otherwise, but knew that the confidence that his wife showed was enough. So he quickly hovered and carried Jewel with his talons…as they jumped off. The two were in the air. Feeling themselves already fall through. Blu was trying to keep his balance, gliding through as best as he could, but before they were close to the water, Jewel struggled, releasing herself from his talons, and turned to embrace Blu with her wings.
"Whoa! Jewel, what are you doing?"
"Blu, I wanted to do this just in case. I want you to know that I love you! I love you so much, and I never want to let you go."
"I…I love you too, Jewel. But right now we're falling and, if you don't mind me saying, you're being just a little crazy."
"Then I guess we really are a loving match. I say we're chained to each other birds!" Then, she kissed her husband in a surprise attack while making a deep smile.
As they continued falling, Blu felt mesmerized by the kiss. And remembered a long time ago of a similar fall Blu had when he fell out of his tree. But by focusing more on the kiss, he closed his eyes and started opening his wings differently. Then when they reached the water…Blu hovered higher, and higher, and higher until he was able to fly all the way.
After releasing the kiss, Jewel was brought back into her husband's talons and saw everything. "Blu…you're flying!"
"Wha…I-I mean, I am? I AM! Whoo-hoo! I-I can't believe it!" Blu continued going higher, finally feeling the proper ability to fly going through him without a problem.
Then Jewel replied, "Believe it! Nigel was right."
"Wait, Nigel? Right, Nigel. Are…are you sure, he'll be okay?"
"To be honest, I don't know. But he's a tough one, and he did give us the chance to escape. Let's just hope he's right about that other girl."
"Me too. But hopefully…hopefully we'll both find out soon if he's okay, and hopefully we'll have this adventure over before the next one begins."
"Oh? And what exactly is our next adventure, my handsome hero?" Jewel grinned, knowing what Blu meant.
Blu flew through the air more, coming closer to the city saying, "Getting ready to raise our kids in our home, Rio de…" But then he noticed something odd. "Wait a minute. That's not Rio!"
More Notes & Disclaimers:
• "…kid electrocuted me?": Haha. Think of that as like an easter egg. Just another Spider-Man reference.
• "when they drink too much soda": So far, I do not write about characters getting drunk, and making Blu think that idea is just soda seemed more "General Audience" friendly.
Now, as for that last statement: OOH! Did I give you guys a twist, or what? Blu, Jewel, and the whole family have been set free, but somehow they are no longer in Rio. What's going to become of them? How will they get home? What of Nigel and Chama? Was Chama telling the truth? Was she really on their side all along? And what about Linda, Tulio, and Fernando? What happened to them? Many questions, and they will be answered next time. A lot of this, in the past, was not my original plans, in fact I kind of made up what I could along the way. But you guys will be able to find out next time after I take care of other stories.
Including some old and new ones like…"A Grand Day Out…with the Young Six" or "Sonic the Hedgehog(s)." Which may or may not be in that order. You'll know soon if you want to read them. Now, for your comments, let me just say…
(Just for laughs, pretend you're all soldiers in line and I'm your military sergeant doing an inspection.)
MonsterJamVadim, my friend, I am a fan of the Jurassic Park franchise and I've been able to catch up with Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. I say they're both cool, and hopefully the next movie and season will be exciting too. However, I may not create a fan-fiction based Camp Cretaceous, but I might develop some stories with similar plots/elements.
Alexriolover95, what do you think of that? You've been wondering if Chama will switch sides and join Nigel and his group, but this reveals the alternative. The next chapter may show her more as not a villain, but more like a self-righteous vigilante. Plus, with what you said about Rio 3 finally coming, I looked on Wikipedia, and saw a mention of it on the DisneyPlus articles. YES! So hopefully if DisneyPlus does make it, and it turns out to be what we hoped (including better than Ice Age 6), then that would be awesome! However, if that's coming up, then what do you think will happen to the thought of Nico and Pedro getting their own show? Will it still be made at all?
StormKnight089, thanks for your comments again. For your stories, I have at least started with the prologue of your 2nd story again, but it will take me a while to catch up. Plus, like I said in my ComeBack message, I will be occupying a lot of my time with other things to watch and read. As for your question, there are tons of stuff that I like that come from before, after, and during the 2000s. Now, for "1900s" I'm not sure if that is a typo or if you mean "1900-1999." But there are numerous tunes I liked from that century too. I like "Iris" by the Goo-Goo Dolls, and I'm not familiar with everything "ACDC" related. Thanks again for the comments though, my friend.
RIO2Lover100, thanks for the comment again, and good to see you're still invested too.
Crexis the Purple Macaw, thank you for reading and already being invested in one of my tales.
To one of the guests, rest assured I will "do more" in the future. But I'll be writing and reading more stories at my own pace.
To one of the guests, that I'm assuming is really named Laura, thank you for sending a request but as I said earlier, I will not be making any stories based on Camp Cretaceous but in the future, maybe try something similar. As for your comment about Ash and Serena, thanks for that also. :)
In fact, I might make a post that shows more details on my favorite pairs (and you may see my other recent post: "EQoftheDay: Earlier Collection"). That being said, if you guys want, just remember that FFN is not my only online social playground. You can find me on DeviantART, Instagram, Twitter, Wattpad, and YouTube. Please be sure to add a FOLLOW to my pages if you like my work.
So with that, thanks again for your love and enjoyment for this story and more, and see you next time.
