Chapter 6: Late Night Talking
Later that night, every single Viking was now fast asleep. The first thing everyone did was erect tents providing them warmth and shelter for the night.
The Haddock Twins are sleeping in their tent with Toothless and Midnight with them while the Night Fury cubs are sleeping close to them on the floor with a book over Hiccup's face while Hicca fell asleep at her desk, working on an anti-venom for Grimmel's dart. Toothless was laying on his back gently chewing Hiccup's leg wiggling his right back leg in the air, Midnight was on her side next to Hicca, and the Night Fury cubs were sleeping on each other.
'Pst, sister.' Midnight then suddenly awoke when she heard someone outside and when she sat up, she accidentally nudged Hicca a bit in the process as she turned in her sleep.
"Midnight, five more minutes." Hicca said half-asleep.
Midnight flinched a bit for almost waking up Hicca as she quietly walked towards Toothless as she nudged him away.
'Toothless, wake up.' Midnight roared gently.
Toothless lifted his head, 'Wha, is it breakfast already?' He warbled groggily.
Midnight rolled her eyes playful at her mate from his words as she walked up to his head and licked his head, that made Toothless wide awake as he got up, but accidently made Hiccup fall to the floor, waking him up.
"Toothless, no, it's too early," Hiccup yawned before falling back to sleep on the ground.
'Where's the Typhoomerang?!' Toothless asked, looking left and right. Before turning to Midnight and realizing she woke him up. 'Midnight, do you know what time it is?' He asked crankily.
Midnight gave an apologetic look to her mate. 'I know, I'm sorry. But I heard someone, and they called me 'sister'. I think it must be one of my pride.' She explained quietly.
Before Toothless could question his mate, he sniffed the air and found a very familiar scent.
'Wait, I do smell their scents. They are close.' Toothless said as he quietly got off of bed as he and Midnight turned to their kids who were still sound asleep. 'Should we wake the young ones?' He asked Midnight if they should wake up their cubs since this is one of their own.
'Let them sleep. They're still young, and they are gonna need all the energy they need in case this Grimmel character finds us.' Midnight said, wanting their hatchlings to sleep.
They then poked their heads out of the tent and saw some kind of movement. Their curiosity got the better of them as they ventured outside and began sniffing the area.
Midnight and Toothless then turned around and appearing in front of them was Midnight's brother which made Midnight extremely excited she began dancing around flapping her wings at the sight of her family again.
'Brother! You're here!' Midnight warbled happily.
Her brother then hissed quietly, 'Keep your voice down. There are humans everywhere.' He growled quietly to his sister , not comfortable being around this many humans.
Midnight immediately staffed and felt extremely embarrassed. 'Sorry.' She cooed quietly to her brother as her mate spoke.
'What are you all doing here? At this time I mean, the kids are sleeping. We know you and the rest of the pride were following us but why come to us now?' Toothless asked in curiosity.
'Dad sent me to fetch you, it's time we have a talk. But not here, too many humans around. Come now.' Midnight's Brother warbled quietly as he and the rest of the pride then walked off.
Taking her brother's words, Midnight and Toothless then began to follow the other Night Fury through the tents keeping a close eye on him and then accidentally bumped their heads on a post.
'Ow!' Both Midnight and Toothless yelped in slight pain from the bump.
They briefly lost track of her after that little oops and began searching for her once again. They looked underneath a partially completed hut and saw Midnight's brother looking back at them underneath. 'This way.' He said before rushing off again.
They watched as he disappeared into the woods and they quickly followed him. But then Toothless heard a tree branch being stressed and looked up to see Valkyrie looking down at him. 'Valkyrie?' He warbled in confusion.
Valkyrie then gestured with her head for him to follow her before she leapt off the branch and ran in a different direction. Toothless looked behind him where Midnight was running after her brother before turning back to where Valkyrie ran off, conflicted about who to follow.
Toothless then sighed, 'Sorry, Midnight.' He then followed after Valkyrie.

Hiccup then left his tent yawning after noting that Toothless and Midnight had vanished while the Night Fury cubs continued to sleep.
Hiccup then turned to his sister as he walked up to her. "Hicca, wake up." He said as he nudged his twin.
Hicca slowly lifted her head and smacked her lips, "Wha, what is it?" She asked, still feeling sleepy.
"We have a problem, Toothless and Midnight are gone." Hiccup pointed out as he pointed to their tent while the Night Fury cubs were still sleeping.
"What?!" Hicca called out in surprise by this, now fully awake as she looked at the tent and saw that only the Night Fury hatchlings are still here but their parents aren't. "Where did they run off to this time?" She asked.
"I think I have a feeling on where they went." Hiccup said as he and his sister walked out of the tent and saw two trails on both sides, each leading to different directions. "Oh gods, they split up? They never split up like this." He pointed out since Toothless and Midnight wouldn't go separate unless they are with their riders or if the Haddock Twins are in danger.
"Then it looks like we should as well." Hicca said. "You take that path while I take the other." She added while pointing to the direction Midnight went, picking that side while Hiccup pointed to where Toothless went.
"Good idea. Let's go." Hiccup agreed as they began searching for their dragons as they split up.

Midnight pushes through the foliage until she notices that Toothless is no longer behind her.
'Wha, Toothless, where did he go?' Midnight warbled in confusion on where her mate just went. She then sighed in annoyance, 'What is that scalebrain doing now?' She asked herself, wondering what Toothless is doing this time.
'Midnight, come on. Everyone's waiting.' Her brother called as he kept on moving. Midnight didn't want to leave her mate behind but she knew she'd never get a chance to talk to her family like this again.
Midnight sighs as she makes her choice. 'I'm sorry, Toothless.' She said as she followed after her brother.
They eventually make it out of the forest and down to the shore where they see the rest of the Pride waiting down below.
Midnight smiled at the sight of her family. 'Mom, Dad, everyone! I am so happy to see you all again!' She warbles as she takes a step towards them, apparently forgetting about the ledge in front of her and slipping on the sand. 'Oh Nadder spines.' Was all she could say before she slid down the ledge, rolled across the sand, past her family and stopped by the water.
Hicca then stood back up and turned to them, 'I meant to do that.' She said as the Cubs and the Juveniles did some dragon-like laughing.
'Alright, enough funny business.' Midnight's father warbled as he got the six youngsters to stop laughing by giving them a stern look, as they immediately stopped. 'Now Midnight, let's talk about you and that human.'
Midnight then perked up at the mention of Hicca. 'Uh, sure, what about her?' She asked nervously, knowing what he was gonna ask.
Hicca kept herself downwind and quiet as a mouth, so the pride wouldn't spook the Furies, "How do you know them, girl?" She asked silently, curious about her dragon's relationship to the Pride.
'Well for starters, why did you and your mate go back and save her and the other one when we got them off you two?' Midnight's father asked with a raised eyebrow.
'Because they're our friends.' Midnight said with as much seriousness as she could. The Pride looked at her and then at each other before they all started making laughing sounds. 'What's so funny?' Midnight frown.
'Those humans are your friends? Yeah, and Whispering Deaths like sunlight.' One of her brothers warbled jokily with a smile as he laughed.
'Yeah, actually it's Screaming Deaths that like sunlight. I've actually met one, kinda cranky, no joke.' Midnight warbled with a raised eyebrow.
One of her sisters looked at her and noticed that she was not joking. 'Wait, you're serious?' She asked in surprise. Midnight just stared blankly as the rest of the pride stopped laughing, 'Holy Eruptodon, she is.'
'Why would that human and the one with your mate be your friend?' Midnight's mother asked in curiosity.
'They helped us end the tyranny of the Red Death, showed their people that other dragons aren't monsters and saved our lives more times than I can count. They even helped my mate and one of my hatchlings fly again when they got shot down.' Midnight explained.
Midnight's father then raised a suspicious brow, 'And who was it that shot your mate down, exactly?' He asked.
Midnight then flinched and glanced around nervously, 'Do I really need to answer that one?' She asked nervously.
'Yes.' Midnight's father said suspiciously.
Midnight then gave a nervous chuckle as she looked around. 'Hehehe. Yeah, uh, funny story. Heheh, uh, it was when we were still at war and forced to find food for the Red Death,' She explained as she notice Hicca trying listen in, 'We were distracting some of the men when suddenly Toothless got hit by bolo and crashed into the forest.'
'And who was it that threw that bolo?' One of her aunts asked.
Midnight then got really nervous as Hicca leaned closer, "Wish I knew what they were saying." She said before she accidentally knocked some rocks over the edge.
When the rocks landed on the sand the pride perked up, 'What was that?' Midnight's elder brother asked as they turned to where she was before she ducked down.
"Oh Thor." Hicca muttered quietly, mentally smacking herself for her clumsiness.
Midnight sniffed the air and noticed the scent was Hicca, she widened her eyes that Hicca is here and is hiding behind the rocks, guessing that she and her brother must've noticed that they were gone.
'Hicca, why now?' Midnight whispered as her father then gave a close look at where the rocks fell.
'Stay here. I'll take a look.' He said, padding over to the ledge.
'Wait. Dad, dad, wait. I don't think you should…' Midnight tried to get her father to stop, but it was too late as Midnight's father then looked at the otherside of the ledge and growled as he saw Hicca.
"Um, Hi?" Hicca squeaked, holding up a hand.
'YOU!' Midnight's father roared as Hicca tried to run for it but he grabbed her belt and dragged her over to the Pride as he hung her upside down in his mouth.
"Nice to meet all of you Furies." Hicca said nervously as the Pride looked at her in surprise.
They then turned to Midnight who was giving a nervous gummy smile, 'Oh, uh, what's she doing here?' She asked innocently.
'Is this the human you are referring to as friend?' One of Midnight's nephews asked as he played with her hair like a cat toy.
Hicca chuckled from the Night Fury playing with her hair. "Good to meet you too. And go easy on the hair." She said as she gently pushed the Night Fury away as she looked at Midnight's father. "Uh, now that I am introduced to your Pride, could you please put me down?" She asked politely.
Midnight's father raised an eyebrow at Hicca before facing Midnight since she knew her best.
'Dad, she means no harm. Put her down.' Midnight told her father while giving her a serious expression.
Midnight's father rolled his eyes as he opened his mouth, releasing Hicca as she fell to the floor.
"Whoa!" Hicca yelled in surprise as she got up and looked at Midnight with a smile. "Thanks for the support, girl." She said with a smile as she patted Midnight as her dragon purred from the touch.
The pride were confused by Hicca's actions, it wasn't like any contact they saw humans do before when humans and dragons come in contact with each other.
Hicca then looked at the pride as she examined each and every Night Furies presence around her. "You nine and the two Light Furies are the very first Furies besides Midnight and her family that me and my brother have seen in years." She said as she got close to them as they then growled at Hicca, who stopped as she was surprised by their growl, remembering when she and Hiccup first met Midnight and Toothless as she was familiar with this. "It's okay. I mean no harm." She calmly said to the Pride as Midnight roared at her family gently to tell them that she's friendly.
Hicca then thought of a way to look at Midnight's father, who was growling at her suspiciously as she slowly walked towards him.
"You must be the leader of this Pride. Since you are a Titan-Wing Night Fury, right?" Hicca asked the male Titan-Wing, who perked up that this human knew that he was the leader of his pack. "From your reaction, I take it you are." She said as she got close to him.
'Stay back!' Midnight's father growled as his mouth glowed, powering up a plasma blast. Hicca slightly took a step back from that as she realized what he was about to do.
'Dad, don't! Please! She's not gonna harm us!' Midnight warbled to her father as she got between him and Hicca.
Hicca looked at the titan-wing, seeing the protectiveness and loyalty in his eyes. She bore a determined look and placed a hand on Midnight's shoulder, "It's okay girl, I'll be fine." She was assured as Midnight looked unsure to leave Hicca to face her father's wrath as Hicca turned to Midnight's father as she got in front of Midnight and faced the male Titan-Wing. "I know you don't trust me, and I know you have an awareness of humans since your kind was nearly hunted to extinction thanks to Grimmel the Grisly, and I don't blame you." She said determined as she got close to him.
Midnight's father looked at Hicca in surprise by her determination and how she knows a certain human that tries to hunt down their kind. He looked at Midnight as she nodded in assurance that Hicca is friendly as he turned and looked at Hicca again.
Hicca then raised a hand to him as she turned her head from his as she looked away with her head down, similar to how her and her brother did the same thing with Midnight and Toothless six years back.
Midnight's father saw the gesture as he looked at her hand with curiosity as he sniffed her hand, sensing no lie or deception on her, but truth, honesty and bravery and loyalty as he then closed his eyes as he pressed his muzzle on Hicca's hand, releasing a deep, purr-like rumble, giving Hicca his trust.
Feeling it, Hicca turned her head and saw the Titan-Wing snout press on her hand as he purred, clearing, earning his trust as she sighs in relief.
She then pulled away as Midnight's father looked at her, now seeing not the hunter but surprisingly his own daughter. He then started making gagging noises and jerking his head up and down.
Hicca frowned as she recognized this behavior. Midnight's father then barfed up a half-eaten fish in front of her, having eaten dinner when he and his Pride first landed here.
"Oh, gods. This again?" Hicca muttered under her breath. "I hoped that I wouldn't do this again, but clearly I should've suspected this from a Night Fury." She added, should've remembered this behavior since it was clearly something that she and her brother want to forget. Seeing no choice around this, Hicca gulped as she picked up the half-eaten fish. She slowly brought up her mouth and bite into the fish, she shivered from the taste. 'Oh, I almost forgot about that taste.' She thought to herself, not missing the taste as she chewed on her bite.
Midnight chuckled at Hicca, having a familiar feeling on how she and her mate did the same thing with the Haddock Twins when they first bonded.
Hicca didn't swallow just yet as she turned to the Titan-Wing, 'What's the matter? Just swallow, like this.' He warbled as he gulped down.
Hicca did as he gestured and swallowed the fish, "Uhh, yum." She moaned, clearly not missing this as she gagged a bit, trying hard to not throw up as she weakly smiled at the male Titan-Wing Night Fury.
Midnight's father tried to smile back, but had trouble doing it as Midnight chuckled as she and Toothless had a hard time smiling in the past as Hicca chuckled at the Titan-Wings reaction.
"This is just like how me and my brother first met Midnight and Toothless alright." Hicca said with a smile, she then remembered how Midnight was interacting with the Pride as she walked up to Midnight's father. "So, I notice that you and your Pride somehow knew Midnight. Care to tell me how?" She asked. "Even though you can't talk and I don't speak dragons, how about giving me a sign to confirm my questions?" She suggested.
Midnight's father nodded as he warbled a bit. 'Sure thing, young one. What do you need me to do?' He asked, even though Hicca couldn't understand him.
"Nod your head for yes, shake for no." Hicca instructed as she showed him how.
Midnight's father nodded his head in confirmation, understanding what he needed to do.
"Okay, so my first question is, did you and your pride meet Midnight before?" Hicca asked as the Titan-Wing male nodded yes. "Are you friends?" She asked, as he shook his head no, which made Hicca surprised by that. "But if you aren't friends, then that can only mean you're…" She trailed off as she widened her eyes in shock as she realized what he was saying. "... Are you, along with the Pride, a family of Midnight?" She asked in shock.
Midnight then walked over to the Titan-Wing and nuzzled him as her father nuzzled back while nodding to Hicca, whose eyes were still widened.
"Your Midnight's father!?" Hicca asked in shock.
'That's right.' Midnight's father nodded with a slight dragon-like chuckle.
"Oh my Thor! That is amazing! You're all Midnight's family!" Hicca squealed in excitement and amazement as she looked at the Night Furies around her before running up to her dragon, "We finally found your family." She said in joy as Midnight purred in response.
'That's right, Hicca. My family is here.' Midnight purred in response.
Midnight's father looked in a little amusement at this sight as he gave a dragon-like chuckle.
Hicca then let go of her dragon as she turned to Midnight's father with a smile. "So that's why you toss me out of Midnight, you thought I was harming your daughter." She realizes as she gives a dull tone. "By the way, you and Daybreak dropping me and my brother out of the sky is not really cool." She pointed out as the male Titan-Wing gave a sheepish chuckle, realizing now that was rude of him as Hicca then smiled. "But I forgive you. It wasn't the first time me and Hiccup fell through the sky, which I'm pretty sure won't be the last." She added with a little chuckle.
Midnight's father looked at her in surprise as from that and the sudden forgiveness as he turned to Midnight in surprise as his daughter shrugged sheepishly with a chuckle, telling her father that it is true.
"But for you, you need a name." Hicca said, which surprised the male Titan-Wing that she would name him as she inspected him. "I don't know about the rest of your pack, but I'll name you first. Mmmm. You clearly are the leader, brave, fierce, and clearly protective from what I can tell…" She listed out, while feeling familiar about Midnight's father behavior, a feeling she hadn't felt in a year as she then thought of a name for Midnight's father. "I will call you… Stoick. Name after my deceased father, former chief of Berk." She said while giving a sad look as remembering her departed father while trying to fight back the tears.
Midnight's father, now named Stoick, is surprised by the name and how Hicca clearly said deceased, clearly saying he passed on not too long ago, judging from Hicca's reaction.
"You have my father's bravery and personality, and I think he would be proud for me to name a dragon after him." Hicca said with a small smile as Midnight went up and nuzzled her rider in comfort, missing Stoick as well as Hicca hugged her dragon.
Stoick looked at his daughter and her rider as he gave Hicca a sympathetic expression, having a similar feeling for when he thought he lost Midnight all those years ago.
(Flashback)
Young Midnight and her brother were wrestling, building up their strength while their parents and aunts watched them and their siblings slept.
Midnight let a squeaky roar at her brother, declaring herself as the new alpha as he did the same.
Stoick looked amused but then he heard the sound of fire and then turned to see trees falling. Then charging from the falling trees are Vikings with their weapons raised as they surround the Pride.
The Pride then took defensive stances as they growled at the Vikings, but then from out of nowhere, acid then spit in front of them as flames appeared. Stoick then turned and saw two Deathgrippers and a man dressed in black with Crossbow in hand.
"Ah, a Titan-Wing, hmm?" He noted as loaded his crossbow, "Round up the others, but this one is mine." He then whistled as the Deathgrippers hissed and charged.
Stoick then fired a plasma blast at the two Deathgrippers as he blasted them back. He then pounced on a Viking trying to attack his mate and family as he whacked them away with either his wings or tails, being taken fast for them to keep up since he is a Night Fury, a Titan-Wing at best, which makes this tougher for the hunters.
Just then, a Deathgripper then got the surprise of Stoick as he then slashed his tail at Stoick by his face, which gave him a scar across his eye as he roared back in pain as he rubbed his face with his paw.
Stoick regained his bearings as he saw through his undamaged eye as the two Deathgrippers closed in on him as Grimmel gave an evil chuckle while a Storm brewed above them.
"You have more spirit than the other Night Furies I killed, Titan-Wing." He said as he aimed his crossbow at him, "That'll make bringing you down all the more gratifying." He added with an evil smirk.
Stoick eyes widened from what Grimmel just said as he turned and saw his pack being surrounded by Vikings and at Grimmel as he aimed his crossbow at him. Stoick's eye went slit as he then closed his eyes while giving a roar as he started to focus as electricity from the storm started to build up around him.
Grimmel eyes widen in shock by this as he was very surprise by what Stoick is doing. "Wha-what is happening!?" He was shocked by this.
Stoick then gave a loud roar as more lightning channeled around him as his body then burst into an electricity, which blew the two Deathgrippers, Grimmel and the Vikings away as they were knocked to the ground, still alive but stunned from that sudden surprise attack.
With the humans and Deathgrippers down and Storm getting worse, Stoick turns to his pride. He roared telling them to leave. The pride nodded and took flight, with the hatchings clinging to their mother's back.
The pride flew away from the hunters and the Deathgrippers as Grimmel recompose himself as he got up with a groan as he looked up and saw the pride getting away as he glared at them.
"No! I will not let these beasts get away from me!" Grimmel yelled out in rage as thunder struck as rain started pouring down as he got up and aimed his crossbow at the pride as he fired his dart at them.
The dart flew into the air as it headed straight towards the Pride as it then struck Young Midnight as she roared in pain as she felt dizzy as she passed out and fell from the sky into the ocean.
Midnight's mother saw her daughter falling as she roared in panic, which made the whole Pride turn to her and saw Young Midnight falling. This made them yell in panic as Stoick looks on with wide eyes as he try to flew down and save his daughter, but the thunder and rain is making it hard for him to see, especially with only one eye as Young Midnight then fell into the ocean as Stoick dived in, desperately searching for his daughter as he swam around, trying to find any sign of her as he gave a desperate roar for her use his echolocation ability to see through the ocean, but to no sigh of his daughter, running out of air, he flew up and joined the rest of his Pride as he looked down in the ocean in despair.
He could never abandon his daughter but he had to think about the rest of his family as well. So with great reluctance they all flew away toward the nearest island, but with one less family member.
Grimmel saw them fly away as he gave a small smirk, while the rest of the Pride managed to get away, he at least had the satisfaction that he managed to get one of them.
"One less beast to deal with." Grimmel said evilly before he whistled and he and his Deathgrippers left. "And no trouble from my twin either, a good hunt all the same." He added with a smirk.
While flying across the ocean, Stoick gave a desperate expression as his mind was filled with hatred and sorrow for what the human and his dragons did to his daughter as he roared off to the heavens in despair for losing a family member.
(End of Flashback)
Stoick then saw how Midnight went from a young adolescent to a beautiful adult in the years since he last saw her.
Hicca and Midnight then separated from each other as she looked at Stoick as she gave a chuckle. "You are really happy to have found your daughter, right?" She asked with a small smile.
Stoick said nothing as he got close to Hicca and Midnight as he curled around them while giving them a comforting hug as he purred in response.
Hicca chuckled as she gave Stoick a hug of her own as Midnight nuzzled her father. "Thanks for the comfort. I'm just really glad that you are all now together." She said with a smile, but the moment didn't last long as Hiccup's voice called out.
"Hicca! Where are you?!" Hiccup's voice called out in the distance.
This made Stoick and the rest of the Pride widen their eyes as they then took to the sky while Stoick roared at Midnight to come with them, but Midnight shook her head as she can't leave her rider, mate or her kids behind as Stoick sighs and seeing that there's no time to argue as he and the Pride flew away, leaving Hicca and Midnight behind.
"No, no! Wait! Come back!" Hicca called out to the Pride as they flew away as they blended in at the dark nighttime. Daybreak and Moona looked back at them for a moment before flying after the rest of pride.
Midnight watches her family, along with Daybreak and Moona, fly away as she gives a sad cooed as she watches them go as Hiccup and Toothless appeared behind them, with Valkyrie and Mira with them.
"Hicca!" Hiccup called out as he, along with his dragon, Valkyrie and Mira came to them as Toothless came next to his mate and nuzzled her as Hiccup came to his sister. "There you are. What happened? I saw the Pride fly away." He said, having seen the Pride flew away on their way here.
"There's something that I have to talk to you about, bro." Hicca said as she gave a shock expression.
"Well, there's something that I must talk to you about as well." Hiccup said as he looked at Toothless and then at Valkyrie.
"Well for one, what's Mira and Valkyrie doing here?" Hicca asked in surprise at seeing Mira and Valkyrie again.
Hiccup gave a small chuckle as he spoke. "There's something that I have to tell you." He said as he started explaining his side of the story.
(Linebreak)
Sometime before, around the time when the Haddock Twins went looking for their dragons, Toothless is following Valkyrie through the forest as he eventually came upon a cliff where he saw Valkyrie near a pond with Mira next to her with a fire to keep her warm and a tent to sleep in as she roasted some fish she caught earlier.
Mira turned as she saw Toothless as she smiled at him. "Ah, the King of Dragons here at last. Come sit down next to us. Have some fish. We have so much to talk about." She said politely to Toothless as she offered him some fish she roasted already.
Toothless looked at them in confusion as he felt unsure about this, but knowing that Valkyrie and Mira can be trusted, he walked up towards them as he sat down next to Valkyrie as Mira gave him some fish.
"There you go. Have a nice warm meal." Mira said with a smile.
'Uh, thanks.' Toothless warbled as he then ate one of the fishes as he then widened his eyes at the taste. 'Oh my Thor, these fish taste delicious!' He roared in joy at the taste as he ate some more.
Mira chuckled from Toothless' reaction as she and Valkyrie smiled at him. "They are delicious because these fishes are Night Fury's natural favorite meal." She answered with a smile.
'I told her that.' Valkyrie warbled with a smile.
"She really did." Mira added as she smiled at her dragon.
Toothless stopped eating as he looked at Mira in surprise. 'So, you really can understand us dragons?' He roared in surprise.
"Indeed I can. I've been around dragons and Valkyrie since I was a little girl, I managed to pick up on how to speak to dragons. I'm a sort of a Dragon Whisper if you will." Mira explained with a smirk.
Toothless looked at Mira in surprise from that as he warbled. 'Wow. I didn't know that was possible.' He said in amazement.
"Trust me. It wasn't easy. But after much trial and error, I finally manage to get it right." Mira said with a small smile before it turned into a frown, "But this isn't about me, this about you, well you and Valkyrie."
Toothless eyes widened in surprise as he turned to Valkyrie as she looked guilty.
'Me and Valkyrie. Why? What's this about?' Toothless warbled in confusion.
What they didn't know is that Hiccup appeared behind them as he watched from behind a tree and looked in surprise.
"Mira and Valkyrie. What are they doing here?" Hiccup said in surprise. "And what do they want with Toothless?" He asked in curiosity as he watched.
Valkyrie then turned to Toothless, 'Tell me Toothless, what do you remember of your family? Before you met Midnight.' She asked as Toothless was caught off guard by her question.
'My, my parents?' Toothless repeated as he thought before frowning, 'Honestly, not much. I was just a hatchling when I last saw them. I remember hearing their voices but I don't remember their faces.' He warbled sadly as he looked down in sadness. 'There are times when I wonder if they even loved me at all or just flat out abandoned me.'
Valkyrie shook her head however, 'No. They loved you with everything they had. Your father loved you even more than his own life.' She warbled. 'I saw myself that he cared nothing about what happened to himself as long as you were safe.'
Toothless raised an eyebrow at Valkyrie when she said that. 'How, did you know that?' He asked.
Valkyrie realized what she said and sighs, knowing there was no going back now, as she speaks again. 'I know. Because I was there.' She revealed.
Toothless widens his eyes in shock by this. 'You knew my father!?'He asked in surprise. 'Were you friends with him?' He questioned.
Valkyrie looked at him with a small smile. 'Oh, I was more than just his friend. I was…' She trailed off as she looked at Mira, who was gesturing her to tell him as Valkyrie sighs and spoke with a small smile at Toothless. 'I was his mate.' She revealed.
Toothless' jaw dropped when she said, 'What?! But then that means your, my.' He trails off as he looks at Valkyrie, who is giving him a small smile, as he looks at Mira, who nodded her head to him with a smile. 'You're my mother!?' He asked in shock.
'It's good to see you, son.' Valkyrie warbled as she nuzzled Toothless.
Toothless didn't nuzzle back however. He couldn't believe it. His mom was alive this whole time? And she never came back for him?
'Wait, wait, wait! Hold on! If you're really my mother, then why didn't you ever come for me!?' Toothless roared out in a demanding tone as he separated from his mother while giving a judgmental look at her.
Valkyrie looked at her son in surprise as she then gave a guilt look while looking down at the ground. 'It's a.. It's a complicated story.' She warbled in a sad tone.
Mira gave Valkyrie a comforting pat on her dragon as she looked at Toothless. "It's not what you think, Toothless. Your mother had a tragic past that she's been trying to forget." She said in a calm tone.
From his hiding spot, Hiccup was surprised, "Wait, did she say mother?!" He whispered in shock.
Toothless looked at his mother and Mira as he could see the guilt and sympathy expressions on their faces as he took a deep breath and calmed down a bit as he looked at them. 'Then tell me why you never come back for me, Mom. Why didn't you look for me? Of all times, of all places for 21 years?' He warbled, wanting to know why his mother never came looking for him before when he was young.
Valkyrie sighs as she then speaks. 'You have the right to know, son. So let me start, at the beginning…' She said as she began to tell her backstory on why she left her son alone.
(Flashback)
Valkyrie was laying down while a young Toothless was on her back playing with his own tail.
'You were just a young hatchling when it all happened. A very curious hatchling as well.' Valkyrie narrated as she chuckled a bit.
Toothless then spotted a lone fireworm pass by, he rolled over and looked at it curiously. The fireworm saw him and scurried off as the baby dragon followed after it, he pounced and looked under his paws but didn't see the Fireworm was gone.
He then saw it scurrying away and chased after it, but then he bumped into a big black leg. He shook his head and looked up.
'You were always one to jump right into adventure, never paying attention to your surroundings, often getting yourself into trouble.' Valkyrie narrated.
'I still do.' Toothless confirmed, having a feeling he was like that when he was young.
What Toothless saw was a full grown male Night Fury, with long ear flaps and yellow eyes who looked down at him with amusement.
'And usually, your father was there to make sure you stay out of trouble and be sure to not put yourself in any harm, but he often would join you on your fun since he was like that when he was your age, often going out on adventures to show an act of bravery from time to time.' Valkyrie added with a heartful chuckle.
Toothless leapt up to his feet and wagged his tail excitedly. He ran around his father while the adult Night Fury watched him with amusement before the two shared a quick nuzzle.
'It was like there were two of the same dragon in one place. Heheh, and your father would do anything to protect the ones he cared about. Especially you, Toothless.' Valkyrie added as she gave a small snort in sadness.
Valkyrie then walked up to her mate as they each gave each other a loving nuzzle while Toothless ran outside to explore.
'I thought our happy life would last forever…but it didn't.' Valkyrie said as her tone turned to sadness.
'What happened?' Toothless asked.
'Grimmel happened.' Valkyrie answered.
Toothless then came to a frightening stop as he heard a terrible growl and ran back the way he came as a pair of Deathgrippers chased after him.
Toothless parents heard the noise and turned around to see the scorpion-like dragons chasing after their hatchling. Toothless' father then turned to his mate and roared to her to get their son and herself to safety while he distracted them.
'Your father told me to get you to safety while he stayed and fight them off, but I didn't want to lose him, but he wasn't asking me. Perhaps if I didn't listen, I could've prevented what came next.' Valkyrie said.
Valkyrie was conflicted on her mate's words, but she knew that she would need to get their hatchling out of harm's way as she grabbed Toothless in her mouth, placed him on her back and flew off to find a place to hide. Toothless looked back and saw his father fighting the Deathgrippers but was steadily getting overwhelmed. He cried to his mother to go back for him but Valkyrie didn't listen and just kept on flying trying to block out her mate's dying roar.
'You begged me to go back to save your father, but I heed my mate's words to get you to safety. But then I was cornered by those Deathgrippers. Turns out there were more of them than I thought.' Valkyrie said.
Valkyrie was then surrounded by three more Deathgrippers as they roared at the two Night Furies as Valkyrie huddled her son close to her for his protection as the Deathgrippers were about to shoot their acids at them.
'But before the Deathgrippers were about to shoot at us, we were saved by… her.' Valkyrie said while looking at Mira.
The Deathgrippers then each got shot by darts made by their own venoms as they roared and went limp as they fell to the ground.
Valkyrie looked at the Deathgrippers in surprise as she looked down and saw a young Mira holding a crossbow and riding on a Monstrous Nightmare as she looked up at Valkyrie. "You two okay?" She asked in concern.
Valkyrie looked at Mira in surprise as she looked back at Toothless, who was still crying but was unharmed as she turned to Mira and gave her a nod in saying that they are alright.
"Great. Now follow us. We are gonna get you and your hatchling out of here." Young Mira said to Valkyrie as the female Night Fury nodded as they all flew away, but not before Valkyrie turned around and looked back as she gave a sad expression that her mate is truly gone. Mira saw the female Night Fury's expression as she gave her a sympathy expression. "I'm sorry about your mate. That monster Grimmel has been hunting down more of your kind for a long time. I've been trying to stop him, but his Deathgrippers are making it hard." Mira said before another dart flew past them and then looked down to see Grimmel glaring at them, pointing his crossbow at them with the dead body of the Night Fury behind him.
'I wasn't sure if I would survive, so I was forced to make a hard choice in order to protect you.' Valkyrie said.
Valkyrie then flew over the Monstrous Nightmare and dropped little Toothless onto its back.
Mira was surprised by this as she looked at Valkyrie. "Wait, wait. What are you doing?" She asked the female Night Fury in surprise.
Valkyrie gave little Toothless a small nuzzle and a gentle lick as he looked at her in scared confusion. She then roared to the Monstrous Nightmare to get her son to safety, as far away from Grimmel as possible.
Mira can tell what Valkyrie was saying as she spoke. "I can't leave you behind with that Psycho," She said before leaping onto Valkyrie's back and she looked at the Nightmare, "You heard her, get that hatchling to safety as far away as possible."
The Monstrous Nightmare was confused at first before it roared in understanding and flew away.
Valkyrie watches the Monstrous Nightmare fly away with her hatchling as little Toothless cried out to his mother as Valkyrie gave him a teary smile as he watched them go as they disappeared into the distance as she then cooed to Mira on her back.
"I know. But you did the right thing. He will be safe and grow up safe from Grimmel. I know that he will be okay." Mira said as she gave Valkyrie a gentle touch as the female Night Fury purred at the touch.
"MIRA!" Grimmel's voice yelled out as Valkyrie and Mira turned and looked down as Grimmel is aiming his crossbow at them with his Deathgrippers around him as they are hissing at the two. "How many times must you stand in my way of my goal for a better world!?" He demanded angrily.
"As long as you desire to hunt down these beautiful creatures, I'll stand against you to my very last breath!" Mira answered as she drew out a sword and Valkyrie powered her plasma blast. The young woman then gave a battle cry and Valkyrie roared loudly as they dove towards the hunter.
(End of Flashback)
Toothless looked at them in surprise as he was shocked by the story while looking down while processing the whole thing.
'I thought we wouldn't make it when we fought those beasts and Grimmel, but we survived and managed to get away. But not without reminders.' Valkyrie warbled as she placed one of her paws on her face where her lightning bolt scar was, indicating that she was wounded by either Grimmel or the Deathgrippers when they fought and survived. 'You would've joined your father if I hadn't sent you away, son. It was for your own protection.' She said as she gave a sad tone.
'I-I thought you and dad never wanted me and abandoned me when I was young. But I was wrong, you did it to protect me.' Toothless said in amazement as Mira and Valkyrie gave him a nod as he then spoke again. 'But there's still one question I should ask. Why? Why did you stay away for so long? Why didn't you come look for me?' He asked his mother, wondering why Valkyrie never came looking for him when he was safe from Grimmel all this time.
Valkyrie sighs as she speaks again. 'Believe me, son. I would do nothing then to find you once you are safe from Grimmel. But with that hunter and his predatory dragons still out there and hunting down our kind, I knew that no Night Fury or any other dragons in the world would be safe from. So I partnered up with Mira to save as many of our kind from Grimmel as we could.'
"We then brought them to the one place Grimmel could never hope to reach, the ancestral birthplace of all Dragons." Mira explained.
"The Hidden World." The three then turned to see Hiccup who made himself known, "That where you've been taking all those dragons you rescued, right?" He asked in amazement.
"Chief Hiccup." Mira said in surprise as Toothless looked at his rider in surprise that he's awake and saw the whole thing. "How much have you heard?" She asked in curiosity.
"Possibly the whole time to the part where I heard that your dragon is Toothless' mother, but the rest is dragon talk while you spoke up where all the Night Furies you've rescued are in the Hidden World." Hiccup explained as he walked down to them. "But can you tell me the rest of the story that our dragons were talking about since I couldn't understand them. Because from what I saw, you can understand dragons, which is pretty amazing." He said in awed.
Mira gave a chuckle as she spoke. "Sure. I'll give you the quick version since you didn't hear. And yes, I can understand what dragons are saying. But here's what Valkyrie was saying to Toothless." She said as she then explained the whole story that Valkyrie said to Toothless.
After retelling the whole story, Hiccup sat on the ground while looking at his dragon in shock. "So what you are saying is, that Valkyrie is Toothless' mother, his father was killed by Grimmel, and that your dragon gave Toothless to a Monstrous Nightmare that brought him to Dragon Island while you and Valkyrie stayed to hold off Grimmel and his Deathgrippers and then started saving every Night Fury from him and bringing them to the Hidden World so that they can live in peace?" He guessed the whole thing in a short version.
Mira and Valkyrie looked at Hiccup as Mira spoke. "Yeah. That's pretty much the whole story." She confirmed as Valkyrie nodded in agreement.
"Oh my Thor. This… this is alot to take in." Hiccup said as he came to his dragon while patting him as Toothless purred at the touch of his rider. "But wow, now we know where the Night Furies were and it looks like you found your mother, bud." He said as he looked at Valkyrie.
Toothless then separated from his rider as he looked at his mother in curiosity. 'But there is one question I need to ask mom. How did you know I'm your son? It has been years since you last saw me.' He warbled out on how his mother knew that he was her son.
Valkyrie gave a dragon-like chuckle as she spoke. 'How were you able to recognize your kids after so many years?' she countered.
Toothless then realized what she meant and looked sheepish, 'Ooh, right. My bad.' He warbled while looking embarrassed, forgetting how he and Midnight manage to recognize their kids after five years is by smelling their scent.
Mira chuckled in response as Hiccup looked in confusion. "What did they just say?" He asked Mira for translation.
"Oh, Toothless just asked his mother how she was able to recognize him after all these years and she answered it was by smelling his scent back on OId Berk." Mira explained with a small smile.
"Oh. Hehe. That would explain her reaction." Hiccup said with a light chuckle as he then turned to Valkyrie as he approached her slowly. "Well, it's nice to meet you, Ms. Night Fury. It's an honor to meet the mother of my dragon." He said as he gently raised his hand at her.
Valkyrie saw this, but instead letting his hand touch her snout, Valkyrie gave Hiccup a nudge and then gave him a big lick to the face.
"Ah! Okay, you are definitely Toothless' mom alright." Hiccup said with a slight chuckle as he wiped Valkyrie's saliva off his face.
Mira and Toothless chuckled at that as Mira spoke. "She knows all about you and your sister, Hiccup. Like I said, you and the Dragon Riders stories are spread across the entire world, and we're pretty impress on how you and your sister, along with the rest of your friends, manage to save so many dragons, taking on Viggo's Dragon Hunting operations, fought Krogan and his fliers, and defeating Drago and his Dragon Army while rescuing dragons, we're proud to know that the children of Stoick the Vast are helping dragons and stopping those who see them as weapons." She said with a smile.
Hiccup made a sheepish smile and rubbed the back of his neck, "Well how about we find my sister and you compliment her yourself." He suggested.
Mira smiled at the suggestion. "I would gladly would. But speaking of which, where is your sister?" She asked.
"We split up to follow the two paths to find our dragons. She went looking for Midnight in the other direction." Hiccup explained.
Toothless then remembered, 'Midnight!' He then ran off to find his mate.
"H-Hey bud! Wait up!" Hiccup called out as he ran after his dragon.
Mira then gave Valkyrie a look. "Did your mate ever do this when he's worried about you when you disappeared?" She asked.
Valkyrie chuckled in response. 'Trust me, Mira. My mate was much like Toothless when we first became mates. And I see that he got that from his father.' She warbled in amusement that her son has so much of his father in him.
The two then followed after the younger pair.

A little bit later, after reuniting with Hicca and Midnight, they all walked back to the village as they each told each other both sides of their story.
"So, wait. The Pride of Furies are actually Midnight's family, and the male Titan-Wing is her father?!" Hiccup asked in shock. "And you named him after dad?" He added.
"Yep, surprised me too." Hicca answered. "And I'm surprised to know that Valkyrie is Toothless' mother. Talk about families finding each other." She was shocked when Hiccup told her his story.
"Man, it's just one surprise after another lately." Hiccup commented before he turned to where they disappeared, "And I'm guessing they flew off when they heard us."
"Yup, I can tell Midnight wanted to go with them, but she couldn't leave without Toothless and the kids." Hicca said before looking at Toothless, "And Toothless can't fly without you."
"But that Pride won't go anywhere near Toothless if I'm around." Hiccup commented, once again regretting damaging Toothless' tail.
"It's a shame you can't give him his old tailfin back." Mira said.
Then the Haddock Twins got an idea, "Maybe we can." Hiccup smiled.

The next morning, Raeda was waiting on the cliffs of the island and smiled when she saw a Razorwhip and Boneknapper flying towards her and riding on their backs were a beautiful black haired woman on a Razorwhip and a Berserker Warrior on the Boneknapper. A minute later, they landed on the ground and dismounted their.
"Heather, Ragnar." Raeda smiled, approaching her.
"Raeda," Heather said and they gave each other a hug.
"I see a warming welcome after a long flight." Ragnar said as the two shook hands.
"How was your ride over, you two?" Raeda asked.
"Uneventful, but we had to fly all night on our dragons to get here," Heather yawned.
"You Berkians sure went far from the other islands, that's for sure." Ragnar commented as he stretched. "I'm still a little swore on sitting on the saddle all morning." He added.
"Well, it took a whole day for us to get here. But I'm glad you both made it." Raeda said.
"Your letter told us that you're resting here until the Haddock Twins find the Hidden World," Heather said as Raeda guided her towards the settlement.
"That's right, though practically everyone wants to stay here, I can't say I blame them," said Raeda
"Only Hiccup and Hicca would come up with a plan this crazy," Heather sighed.
"When has their plans never been crazy from the stories you told me, Heather?" Ragnar commented with a wave of his arms.
"Good point." Heather said, getting what Ragnar is saying.
"Anyway, Hiccup and Hicca are at the makeshift forge Gobber set up." Raeda said to them. "They look like they're working on something." She a

Back at the makeshift outpost, Hiccup and Hicca were in a small workshop with their old plans for the automatic prosthetic tail fin, but with some few adjustments.
Astrid then arrived and looked at the diagram before turning to the Haddock Twins. "Oh… Someone hasn't slept." She commented.
"Yeah. Well, those Night Furies won't let us within a mile of them," Hiccup said as he began screwing in some screws. Toothless was scratching himself, so hard that his scales began to shed and fall off.
"I may have earned Stoick's trust but other humans he's still suspicious of." Hicca added as she picked up some of Toothless' scales, "And Midnight won't go anywhere with them until Toothless can fly on his own."
Astrid realizes what Hiccup and Hicca are saying. "And neither of us will be getting any sleep or finding the Hidden World until Toothless could fly with the rest of his family." Hiccup added.
Toothless and Midnight then pushed the Haddock Twins as they sighed so they could look through the magnifying glass to get a better look at the tailfin.
"Hey!" said Hiccup laughing. "What do you think of that? Yeah." He said to Toothless.
"The very thing we made for you Toothless, soon, you will fly with your family again on your own and be with other Night Furies." Hicca said to them with a smile.
The Haddock Twins managed to push to the side as Hicca grabbed a bowl.
"You two tried this once before," Astrid reminded them as Hicca then placed the black scales into the bowl. "He didn't want it."
"Well, until now he didn't have a permanent reason to," Hiccup said and looked at Toothless. "Right, bud?" He asked his dragon.
Toothless responded by spitting into the bowl and then Hicca began mashing the scales like she was grinding bread.
"He only wanted the tail so he and Midnight could find our helmets and get to the nesting grounds to have their babies." Hicca added, "After that he wanted to use the manual tail, because he wanted Hiccup to fly him instead on his own."
Mira then looks at the automatic tail fin and plans as she and Valkyrie are both intrigued by the Haddock Twins' design. "This tail is amazing for you two. I've never thought you could actually build a prosthetic tail that a dragon can actually move on their own." She said in amazement.
"Well, it wasn't easy. Believe us, this is a complicated piece of gear and it took us all day and night to even make just one of these." Hicca said. "Last year, we made this very same thing for Darkie, but with a few modifications." She added while pointing at Darkie, who is playing with his siblings.
Valkyrie smiled at her grandchildrens as she watched them wrestle.
Mira smiled as well as she looked at the Haddock Twins. "Well, it's great that you two can help dragons fly again. Because everybody knows that if they can't fly, they can't get away. Meaning…" She said but the Haddock Twins finished for her.
"A down dragon is a dead dragon." The Haddock Twins both said in agreement. "Trust us, we know. Gobber told us." Hiccup said as Hicca finished grinding the scales.
Astrid leaned on the table and looked at him intrigued. "Hm…"
"What?" Hiccup asked, noticing the look in her eyes.
"No. Nothing," Astrid said to Hiccup as Hicca began painting the tailfin with the liquid-scale formula from the bowl to make it fireproof. "I'm-I'm impressed. I mean, look at you two. Embracing change, I am proud of you."
"Well, he's my best bud," Hiccup said. "I want him to be happy. And besides it's just until He, Midnight, and the kids bring them back."
Mira frowned, "Bring them back?" She repeated..
"This kind of stuff happened before with Midnight and Toothless. We shared a strong bond with each other that is unbreakable and they usually help dragons understand us and they return to us." Hicca explained as she finished painting the tail.
"Yeah. That's pretty much how strong our bond with our dragons are. They are our best friends." Hiccup finished as he then promptly kissed Astrid on the forehead and as she and Mira gave them a worried look by what the Haddock Twins just said and shook their heads at them.
"The more things change the more they stay the same." Heather said as she, Ragnar and Raeda approach them.
"Heather! Ragnar" Astrid beamed and rushed over to Heather and gave a big hug and gave Ragnar a warrior handshake.
"It's nice to see you too, Astrid," Heather giggled.
"I see that you two are setting up a settlement after finding this place." Ragnar commented while looking around the camp and the construction of the village.
"It's suppose to be temporary until we find the Hidden World." Hicca said to Ragnar.
"How's Dagur and Mala?" Hiccup asked.
"The Dragon Trappers haven't attacked them, in fact we haven't seen any sign of them since they landed on Berk," said Heather.
"Speaking of which," Raeda said as she looked at Hiccup and Hicca gravely. "Heather and Ragnar did a flyby over Berk and it's not good." She said with a grim tone.
"While flying by it, we saw that Berk has completely burned to the ground." Ragnar said dreadfully.
"Not a single building in the village is left, not even the forest was lucky. The whole island is uninhabitable." Heather added sadly as she held her arm as Ragnar went up and place an arm over her in comfort.
Everyone around them were utterly silent while Mira gave a sigh and closed her eyes, having a feeling who burned down Old Berk.
"Grimmel." Hicca said grimly, already knowing who burned down their old home.
"At least we got away," Hiccup sighed.
"Listen, I get you both are trying to find the ancient dragon homeland, but I'm not sure this will work," Heather started, "Do I need to remind you both of what happened to my father when he stayed in Vanaheim." She reminded them of what happened to her father when he stayed in Vanaheim.
"He was alone, this time there's hundreds of Vikings." Hiccup pointed out.
"Yeah, there's enough to look out for one another and for the next generation." Hicca added.
"And there will be 10 times as many dragons than on Dragon Island," Raeda added.
"Raeda and Heather are right, you two." Ragnar said in agreement. "We don't even know the dragons there are friendly to humans."
"Plus I'm a little more concerned about what would happen if the Trappers find it, it will be a gold mine to them." Raeda finished in concern.
"You guys worry too much. Trust us, it will work." Hiccup said.
"Yeah, we made it through impossible odds before. So this isn't new to us." Hicca assured.
Hiccup then picked up the tailfin as he tested it out. "All right, Toothless, fire when ready!" Hiccup had inadvertently placed the tailfin in front of Gobber.
"Oh!" Gobber cried and Hiccup opened up the tailfin.
"Uh, Hiccup…" Hicca called out when she saw Gobber behind the tailfin, but it was too late to tell her brother.
Toothless then promptly fired a plasma blast at the tailfin to test to see whether it was fireproof. When Hiccup retracted the tailfin he discovered a charred Gobber behind it.
"Well, I guess you both know the tail is fireproof." Gobber said, putting the smalle fire on his mustache out while giving the Haddock twins an angry look.
"Oh. Sorry, Gobber." Hicca apologized sheepishly as she and her brother looked back at him with sheepish looks. Gobber then began walking off, no doubt to continue his work with the makeshift forge.
Hiccup then promptly turned towards Toothless. "Okay, Toothless."
Toothless then began to run around crazily and had an excited look on his face, nearly knocking Gobber off his feet. Gobber narrowed his eyes at the male Night Fury and raised his hammer prosthetic and gave him a warning look.
"Okay. Okay. Okay. Yes, I know. Shh, I know. Shhh," Hiccup said calmly as he tried to get his dragon under control. He finally stopped for about 30 seconds allowing Hiccup to attempt to put the new tailfin on. "Okay, I know."
Sadly Toothless was still rather excited and was moving his tail constantly making it almost impossible for Hiccup to attach the new tailfin.
"Please, this is not helping," Hiccup said to Toothless.
"Calm down Toothless. Let Hiccup attach the tailfin before you get too excited." Hicca said to him as she turned to Midnight, who is very excited for her mate to fly again. "Midnight, can you calm Toothless down until Hiccup is finished?" She asked her dragon.
Midnight nodded her head with a small roar as she walked over to Toothless as she nuzzled her mate to calm him down, which worked as Toothless calmed down from his excitement as he stopped moving his tail.
"Thank you, Hicca and Midnight." Hiccup thanked her sister and her dragon as he then started his work.
"Well, well, well." Eret said with a small smirk as he returned with lumbar. "Somepeople are excited."
Hiccup nodded as he began to attach the tailfin and then began to adjust it. "Uh, they're fresh out of their family reunion. Now they gotta find 'em like crazy."
"Only we're the ones going crazy," Gobber said as he hammered away. "The sooner they bring back that pride, the better."
"Yeah, but to do that, Toothless will need to fly without me so the pride doesn't fly off or leave them behind cause Midnight won't leave without Toothless and their kids." Hiccup said.
"Stoick and his pride may be comfortable with me, but they still don't trust other humans. So we can't keep Toothless, Midnight and their kids away from them." Hicca added. "So, time to give this new and improved baby a shot."
Hiccup finally managed to attach the tailfin and Toothless began to examine it, opening and closing it excitedly.
'Haha! It's just like the old thing and Darkie's.' Toothless warbled in excitement.
'Yeah, but with a few adjustments to make it look like the original. Like you never lost your tail at the beginning.' Midnight warbled in amazement at how well the Haddock Twins made the automatic tail to look just like the original.
"Atta boy!" Hiccup beamed. "Looking sharp, Toothless. So, what do you think, bud? Bring the family home for dinner…" He then began to perform a terrible impression of his father, "…by sundown at the latest."
Midnight then began to nuzzle him with her face and then finally gave him a big hug. 'Oh thankyouthankyouthankyou!' She warbled happily.
"Okay, okay! Save it for your folks!" Hiccup laughed as he managed to get her off. "Go on, get out of here!"
"Your family's not gonna find themselves." Hicca added with a chuckle.
Midnight then called to the younglings to come. Toothless then followed his mate as the family began to run off, but they stopped briefly and looked back at the Haddock Twins.
'Are you both sure we can go?' Midnight warbled at them, unsure that they could leave their riders.
'Yeah. Are you both going to be okay?' Toothless asked as well as their kids looked unsure themselves.
The Haddock Twins looked at the Night Fury family as they gave assurance smiles at them.
"It's okay," Hiccup assured them.
"Go on, you 8 Night Furies. Go spend time with your family. You all earned it. We'll be fine." Hiccup added with a smile.
Toothless then looked at his mother in confusion. 'Aren't you coming mom?' He asked his mother.
Valkyrie chuckled as she looked at her son. 'No son, it's okay. You go and get to know your mate's family, son. I'll stay here with Mira to look after your riders while you all have some fun.' She said, going to look after the Haddock Twins with Mira while they are gone spending time with the Pride.
'Thanks, Mom!' Toothless replied excitedly to his mother as he and the rest of the family nodded as they then took off, for a few moments, Toothless had a bit of difficulty staying airborne, it had been a long time since he was able to fly on his own. However, with the help of Midnight making sure he stayed balanced and reminded him how to use his tail like his original one by flexing her own. Toothless quickly adjusted to the new tailfin as the Haddock Twins looked up at their dragons with large smiles.
Everyone around the Haddock Twins then looked at them a bit shocked by what they just did.
"Well, um, carry on." Hicca said awkwardly.
The Haddock Twins then took in a heavy sigh and everyone went straight back to work.
