Chapter 4: Xorrn

Staring up at the ceiling, Anakin would sit leaning back on his chair bored that he had to sit in this meeting he cared nothing about. He would drift off not hearing what was being said in the meeting only wanting it to end so he could head back. Obi Wan would notice it and tells Anakin through the force to sit up and pay attention. Anakin relentingly gave into the order as he thought. As the meeting continued Anakin was having a hard time doing nothing. He wanted action for his first mission and not this boring mission. Obi Wan also not really paying attention to the meeting as he felt Anakin's frustration. Obi Wan would stand him suddenly "My apologies Senators and Prime Minister but my padawan must leave to let the Council know what is going on." As Everyone looked towards Obi Wan. "As I remain here" as Obi Wan continued. Anakin would look happier about what his master just said knowing it meant he could just wait at the ship for Obi Wan to return. Getting up from his chair Anakin would say "At once" as he quickly got out of the room. Obi Wan would sit back onto his chair saying, "Well let us continue then." As he would then listen to what the meeting was about.

Anakin, with a better feeling, thinks he should talk with Barriss to tell her that the mission is boring. He would remember he took the comm link on him so he would pull it out happy to be talking with Barriss finally, as it felt like days when the meeting actually, was about three hours long. Anakin would turn it on as he says "Barriss are you there." As he said with a soft tone hoping no one heard him as in was right in front of the door of the room where the meeting was taking place. He would then hear Barriss stumbling with the commlink to turn it on. As he said again "Barriss can you hear me." with a louder tone but not to make it loud enough for Barriss to hear but no one around him. Barriss with so much emotion saying "Yes, I am here what's going on" with a more concerned tone in her voice like she was afraid Anakin was going to talk about what they just said. "Oh Great!" Anakin would say with excitement knowing he can talk with Barriss. "Wow that was a quick first mission?" Barriss would say with a soft chuckle. Anakin would sigh saying "no the mission is still on but was told to wait at the ship" while laughing continue he would say "well heading back to the ship so we can have some private time to talk." Barriss would be shocked to talk she thought what does this mean as she continued pondering "Oh Okay" as Barriss pulled it out with a nervous tone. Anakin with a quick tone would say "okay talk to you in a bit." As he ended the call. Barriss was afraid she wouldn't turn off the commlink and sit on her bed confused and afraid. Anakin would put his commlink in his pouching thinking he kept it on but accidentally turns it off without Anakin and Barriss noticing it.

Barriss sitting there pondering on what Anakin wants to talk about. Then she thought about her life, she thought that she respected her Master, but she was VERY strict. She thought I essentially must devote myself to trying to emulate her. I must hide my hair, show no emotion and become feverishly in tune with the Jedi Code. I accepted that is what was expected of me, and no one wanted to be my friend because they knew I wasn't meant to have any. I pretended to be above friendship and connections, but deep down, I wanted companionship just as much as anyone else. I never asked to be isolated from my peers, and luckily, Anakin understood that. And when I saw him there all those years ago, I know he knew what I was going through as much as I knew it was the same for him about her. Barriss sat there on her bed fiddling with the com link.

Anakin would head towards the ship leaving capitol building he would end up walking through the market. Walking through the market Anakin would see stalls of vendors noticing that it was made of different alien species. Much like Tatooine Anakin thought, Slaves were everywhere as their masters' barked orders. Anakin hated seeing this it made him think about the days were he and his mother were owed by Watto. The anger was building up within Anakin so much that Barriss could feel it all the way at the jedi Temple. Barriss felt rage but not hers. Anakin would then see a slave selling vendor it was a Zygerrian. He was about to whip a young human woman. As Anakin looked at the slave, she looks similar to his mother but more afraid. Barriss then feeling sorrow but again it was not hers. Then an Anger filled up both of them, with Anakin seeing the woman whipped by the Zygerrian's electro whip. As the Zygerrian threw his hand over his head readying the whip for another hit on the woman. He would suddenly drop the whip and fall to his knees grasping his neck as he was choking by the force. Looking up he would see Anakin reaching out with his hand using his thumb and index finger to force choke him. Barriss feeling Anakin's rage would take the commlink and talk into it saying, "Anakin can you hear me? please stop!" not knowing they were communicating through the force. Anakin in a trace as he chokes the life out of the slaver would start to hear a soft voice it would say again "Anakin can you hear me? please stop!" Anakin now more fixated on the voice as he calls out "Barriss?" In somewhat confused but thinking its coming from the commlink. "Yes," she replied "please stop I can feel your pain, but this isn't your way." Anakin shocked by the reply, but he understood "its not the jedi way as he said releasing the slaver. She replied, "yes but its also not your way." Anakin would look down saddened but happy he had a friend like Barriss being there for him as the slaver got up to pull out a blaster. Obi Wan would suddenly feel a disturbance in the force. He would get out of his chair "My Apologies Prime Minister and Senators, but I must leave for a bit I shall return." Obi Wan would leave the room abruptly as the senators looked on in confusing. As Obi Wan raced down the hallway he would think to himself Anakin what have you gotten yourself into now?

Barriss feeling the rage subside as it started to feel like peace and warmth. "Thank you Barriss for being you." Anakin would say to Barriss unknowingly through the force. Barriss would reply "And thank you for being you Anakin." Anakin continuing looking down in total trace with Barriss and didn't notice the Zygerrian was positioning his blaster toward Anakin. The Blaster would go off with Anakin looking up then quickly at his chest as a spark of yellow lightning would come out of. Barriss sitting in her room would feel the shot and also see a spark of yellow lightning in the same spot as Anakin. But looking toward the Zygerrian with smoke coming out of a little hole over his heart as he slowly dropped to the ground. Obi Wan would come as he would see the Zygerrian lying on the ground and Anakin standing there confused. "Anakin what happened?" shouted Obi Wan as he got closer to Anakin. Anakin shaking in confusing would stutter out "I… I.. I don't… know." Obi Wan seeing fear and confusion in his padawans eyes, looking over to the slave he would ask "does anyone know what happened?" as no one said a word instead looking away from Obi Wan as soon as he said it. But in the back of the vendor shop a door would open with another Zygerrian would coming out of a room in the back. What this Zargan what happened here looking towards the slaves the noticing the two Jedi. "Oh, sorry you just saw that. we were just closed." As the Zygerrian said nervously while shutting the vendor shop closed. Obi Wan would then look back at Anakin putting his hand on his Padawan "Sorry for accusing you" saying in an understanding tone. Anakin shaking in the same place he was in it was like all his nerves were froze and his feet were in concrete. "Anakin?" Obi Wan said more concerned this time. Anakin would finally look up at him "Its… Okay… Master…" as he could barely pull it out of him. Obi Wan would take his hand off Anakin's shoulder as he would say "Okay Anakin go back to the ship and we will talk about this later I must go back to the meeting." Anakin would nod his head and continue towards the Ship Hangar. As Obi Wan would look until Anakin was out of his vision then look around the spot wondering what happened here. Obi Wan would start walking towards the building. But a huge burst of force energy would burst out of the spot with only Obi Wan feeling it as it almost knocked him over. Looking back at the spot now pondering What happened?

Back at the Jedi Temple in Barriss room. Barriss would be in the same stunned position as Anakin but kneeing beside her bed. But as the force burst happened on Xorrn Barriss would collapse in a short coughing fit but every cough would burst out a little puff of black smoke. Falling on the floor holding her gut she would try to get her composer. But after a while she would get up sitting back on her bed, she tried to get the commlink but would drop on her bed as she was passing out from the event. As she tried grabbing it, but her eyes would close as she felt asleep. Also, in the Jedi Temple Yoda would be walking towards the Jedi Archive. As he was walking other jedi would pass by him with a confused look on their face as Yoda as be a hermit lately not talking to anyone. Many believe it was because of his former apprentice leaving the order, or Qui Gon and Yaddles death. But suddenly Yoda would fall against the wall of the hallway as he felt the anger, sorrow and then after the peace and love coming from the force as it was very strong to him. He would almost fall over but Master Aayla Secura would catch him. "Master Yoda what's wrong?" Aayla ask with a concerned look on her face. "Nothing it is" Yoda would say as he tried getting his footing. "Go I Must Jedi Archives I need to be." As Yoda tried walking, he would almost fall of again. Aayla catches him once again would say "well at least let me take you there." She commands knowing Yoda can't walk. "Fine you can" Yoda replies now holding Aayla's arm as she helped him, they walked towards the Jedi Archives. Aayla looking upon Yoda with concern as they walked.
