On a stage inside the Orb Duel School, five face-down cards were lined up on a large blackboard. On cue, David Xadashi and Lisa Drake both showed up and began speaking to the audience for only a brief amount of time.

"Well, everyone, it's that time, once again," began David. After a brief beat, he added to that, "Yep, you guessed it, 'This week's noteworthy cards'!"

"The fun definitely keeps on getting funner and funner!" said Lisa playfully, before she and David held their arms out at the blackboard with the five cards (still showing their backing) lined up, "And now, the new cards!"

The five face-down cards on the blackboard all automatically turned over and revealed themselves to be:
-'Inzektor Exa-Stag' (Xyz Monster Card)
-'Morphtronic Impact Return' (Trap Card)
-'Naturia Camellia' (Effect Monster Card)
-'Evolzar Dolkka' (Xyz Monster Card)
-'Naturia Molcricket' (Effect Monster Card)

"Hey, that's an interesting one," observed David, staring at the middle card ('Naturia Camellia'), "I believe that's a new card you've picked up just recently."

"That's the one," confirmed Lisa, before reading one of the card's effects, "If you would Tribute a monster(s) to activate a 'Naturia' monster's effect, you can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the GY instead," She grinned proudly, "Sending two cards from your Deck to the GY is a small price to pay to keeping your 'Naturia' monster out of the GY."

"I guess so," shrugged David, before he and Lisa turned to face the audience, "Do not believe that Lisa-chan's new card is the only thing you'll like in this duel!"

"My Aunt and Uncle both have some good cards to show off, too," put in Lisa, "Oh, and so does Dave here," She and David started waving goodbye, "And now, have a good night, everyone!"

The audience cheered and clapped in response.

Title: All-Star Battle Royale

Opening up in one of the Orb Duel School's cafeterias, two days had passed since Carlie had been saved from the control Muruta Azrael of Blue Cosmos and, more importantly, the Dark Signers had over her, along with the conclusion of James R.'s duel with Sherry ending with his defeat. David was currently eating lunch on his own and doing some enormous amounts of thinking. What was he thinking? He was silently thinking about what Sherry said about the Signers needing to become stronger in hopes of taking down the Dark Signers. David was perfectly aware that Vincent was now one of them. He may have defeated Vincent just before Sergey attacked Orb, and Vincent most likely joined the Dark Signers very soon after he was defeated, but as utterly pathetic as David believed Vincent was for joining the Dark Signers just to get revenge, now that Vincent had likely obtained new powers, part of David wondered if he, at his current level of power, would be able to defeat him once again? More to that, he also wondered what lengths would Vincent go in order to provoke him or hinder his spirit now that he was practically unhinged?

"Yo, what's shaking, kid?" The voice of Lisa greeted.

David turned and saw a grinning Lisa standing beside him on his left before she sat down at the table.

"Lisa-chan…" murmured David, "Nothing much, I'm just doing some thinking."

"Thinking?" quizzed Lisa, losing her smirk, "Thinking about what?"

"A great many things," answered David, "Mostly about what Sherry-san told all of us, especially Hogan-kun. How we must exceed our current capabilities and become better duelists in order to defeat the Dark Signers?"

"Yup, I remember her words," admitted Lisa.

"And then there is the matter of my old nemesis, Vincent," continued David, "When Fudo-san found and brought Ashima-san back safely, he informed me that Vincent had joined the Dark Signers."

Lisa frowned in response, but remained silent.

"I already loathed him for all of the torment he inflicted towards me in my youth," As that was said, David clenched his right hand into a fist and stared at it, "However, him kidnapping and subjecting you to humiliating torture was the last straw," Lisa listened to the vow he made, "And now he went off the deep end and joined with our sworn enemies! I swear, no matter what, I will defeat Vincent in my duty as a Signer."

"Dave…" whispered Lisa, before smiling again and wrapping her right arm around her boyfriend's shoulders while leaning in closer, "Come on, you know we'll stop him and the other Dark Signers easy!"

"Lisa-chan?" peeped David.

"Besides," Lisa went on, "I'm not even worried," When the surprised David made no effort to say anything back, she pressed on still, "Sherry might have been right about us needing to become stronger, and we definitely will, between now and our future battles. I promise you that!" She let go and had one more thing to say, "Anyway, I have some good news on how to get our minds off the Dark Signers for at least a little while."

"Good news?" asked David again.

"Yup! My Uncle Daxter and Aunt Tess both are coming for a visit!" explained Lisa, now looking really happy, "I told them I want to introduce them both to you and my three fellow Orb duelists."

David couldn't help but smile slightly, considering he found that welcoming news to be a good distraction from the current troubles he and his fellow Signers had with the Dark Signers. However, when he heard Lisa mention 'fellow Orb duelists', that raised a question he had about a certain red-haired young woman of the group…

"That reminds me Lisa-chan, how has Mayura-san been doing for the last two days?" The aqua blue-haired boy pressed, which caused Lisa to go from cheerful to glum in an instant when the question was brought up, "Have she and Hogan-kun made up by any chance?"

"Nope," replied Lisa, shaking her head, "Mayura has been staying far away from James since his loss to Sherry. She's still pretty mad at him."

"An understandable response after a display of that magnitude," acknowledged David, "What Hogan-kun did and said to Sherry-san went really far."

"Damn right," agreed Lisa, but managed to smile again, "But I'm sure she'll forgive him soon. For as long as Asagi and Juri both have known her, Mayura isn't someone who would hold onto bad feelings for too long."

(elsewhere…)

Speaking of Mayura, she was currently in Orb's gym and going about with her vigorous boxing practice. Wearing her gym clothes of a white t-shirt and gym shorts, Mayura, while also wearing boxing gloves, punched at the large punching bag viciously without stopping for a breather. She wasn't alone in the gym, for Asagi, also wearing the exact same gym clothes but with the lower half of her shirt tied up slightly in order to show off her midriff, had joined her for a work out and helping to keep her company. Sitting on a nearby chair, Asagi watched as her tomboyish best friend punched at the punching bag again and again, growing worried as it went on without taking time to take a breather.

"Um, Mayura, are you sure you're okay?" Asagi asked with concern.

"I told you before, I'm fine!" grunted Mayura hotly, without taking her eyes off her boxing practice, "I'm just peachy!"

"That's not what I see," countered Asagi, but then, while closing her eyes, thought it would be better to not upset Mayura any further, "I just don't like seeing you acting like this… You're obviously still hurting over James's hostile attitude towards Sherry."

That part was correct; she knew that Mayura was still very angry with James R., and likely would remain so for at least a few more days—but Mayura, as hot-headed as she could be, was often a perky, cheerful young woman like both Juri and Asagi were. Just then, Asagi had an idea…

"Mayura, I have some news that might help cheer you up," she offered.

Not stopping with her boxing practice, Mayura simply grunted another response to say she was listening.

"Well, Lisa texted me not long ago," The voice of Asagi began, holding up her cellphone, "She told me her Aunt and Uncle are coming for a visit, and she wants to introduce us, Juri, and Dave to them," She tried smiling (weakly), "Don't you think that sounds exciting?"

Thankfully, that seemed to do the trick; Mayura stopped punching at the large punching bag and calmed down enough to listen to Asagi with great interest. Relieved that Mayura was calm and interested in meeting Lisa's Aunt and Uncle, Asagi smiled for real and stood up from the chair she was sitting on before trying to hand Mayura a towel to see if she wanted it.

"Thanks," accepted Mayura. After removing the boxing gloves, she took the towel and started to use it to wipe her sweaty face and hands, "So, any idea on when they will be arriving?"

"Sometime tomorrow afternoon," answered Asagi, as she then tried making another offer, "Wanna hit the showers, now?"

"Good idea," Mayura said, while lifting her right arm and sniffing at the armpit before quickly facing away from it due to the sweaty, smelly smell, "Phew! We both reek."

"Excuse me?" snapped Asagi jokingly, leaning in with her hands on her hips, "You were the one doing most of the sweating with your boxing workout, you know!"

The two best friends started firing off playful banter as they grabbed their stuff and left for the women's locker room.

(elsewhere…)

The next morning, Lisa, the three Astray girls, and David all were hanging out at a coffee shop, talking things over before heading inside for breakfast. They would go to the meeting spot where Lisa's Aunt and Uncle both would arrive after lunch.

"Lisa, can you tell us what your Aunt and Uncle are like again?" asked Juri.

"Again?" chuckled Lisa, "You know, Juri, this happens to be the fifth time today you've wanted me to tell you guys about my relatives," She cheerfully shrugged, "But what the heck, I'll gladly tell you about my Uncle Daxter and Aunt Tess once more. They are…" Her eyes then widened, "…here?!"

That caused Asagi, Juri, Mayura, and David to all look nearby. Pulling up to the side of the road were two Duel Runners. The first was bright orange accented by darker orange lightning bolts, and seemed to emanate electricity from its frame. The second was dark red with white accents, coupled with a rather powerful sounding engine. The rider of the first Duel Runner was a young, lean-looking man with messy orange hair. He was wearing a light orange vest, three-quarter length denim shorts, a pair of aviator's gloves, and thick combat boots. Strapped to his back was what looked to be a large staff of some kind.

"Are those two your relatives?" breathed David.

"They sure are!" Lisa confirmed, smiling widely, "Come on, let's go see them."

Over with the two adults, the man (Daxter) removed his goggles and looked around the place before he heard a voice calling out to him. He looked nearby and saw a familiar teenage girl with pink hair running towards him.

"Lisa!" greeted Daxter.

"Uncle Daxter!" Lisa exclaimed excitedly, rushing over to the orange-haired man and embracing him, "You and Aunt Tess 'are' here!"

"Heya, kiddo!" Daxter said again, ruffling Lisa's hair, "How's my favorite trooper? Been kicking some ass out there?"

"Oh, you bet!" Lisa responded proudly, "You should've seen how we-"

But as she tried continuing her sentence, she immediately found herself being cut off and glomped by the woman accompanying Daxter, with her face being squished into the chest of the newcomer. She had light blonde hair, blue eyes, and wore a green, midriff-revealing motorcyclist suit with its long sleeves rolled up to her elbows, blue fingerless gloves, a red scarf, and a purple headband. The suit had its chest region mostly unzipped, allowing her to show off her breast cleavage.

"Oh, Lisa!" The woman cooed, while shaking Lisa side to side, wrapping her arms tighter around Lisa in a vice grip, "How I've missed you!"

"Nfffssstu sssffee yuuu tuuu annn Tffff," Lisa managed to say with her face buried in the woman's cleavage.

"Hey, hey, Tess baby," interrupted Daxter, trying to separate his wife from his niece, "Don't squash the champ."

"Oh! Sorry about that," The woman, named Tess, smiled sheepishly, as she released Lisa from her clench hug, "Can't help the attitude sometimes."

Lisa stumbled back a few steps to regain her composure and inhaled deeply after her brief lack of oxygen. Everyone else (Asagi, Mayura, Juri, and David) just stared blankly at what they just witnessed.

"Guys, I want you to meet my Uncle Daxter and Aunt Tess," began Lisa proudly.

"'sup, peeps," Daxter greeted, bringing a hand to chest proudly, "Lieutenant Colonel Daxter Drake of Spargus Unit. Five time national vehicular combat and racing champion, ace relic hunter, and survivalist extraordinaire!"

"A Lieutenant Colonel?" blinked Juri.

"You're Goddamn right!" said Daxter, loudly and profanely, "Any piece of scum who tries to fight me will get his ass handed to him so fast, it would make their heads spin!" He then eyed the three Astray girls, "So, who might you three girls be?"

"Err… I'm Asagi Caldwell," stammered Asagi, introducing herself while slightly off put by Daxter's attitude.

"Mayura Labatt," put in Mayura, equally put off.

"And my name's Juri Wu Nien," finished Juri neutrally.

"They've been my best friends since I started attending Orb," stated Lisa.

"Yeah? You've been teaching 'em all you know?" Daxter pressed Lisa, earning some raised eyebrows from the Astray trio.

"Well, actuall-" mused Lisa, raising a finger

"I bet you came in swingin' on the first duel and totally wiped the floor with the poor sap who was up against you!" Daxter carried on, interrupting the short sentence.

An annoyed-looking Asagi was about to interject, but Tess cut in just in time.

"Lisa was always a people person, so I'm sure you all got along great!" encouraged Tess, before directing her attention to something else—rather playfully, might I add, "So, who's the lucky guy you've been telling us about?"

Lisa then grabbed David's hand and brought him to stand next to her in front. Faced with the new faces, David tried to smile even though he was very nervous.

"Uncle Daxter, Aunt Tess, this is Dave Xadashi, my new boyfriend," Lisa admitted pleasantly.

David, meanwhile, was mentally pondering on what to say to both adults. He could see Daxter and Tess awaiting a response; both looking him over, the former with some judgment and the latter with more curiosity. Rubbing the back of his head nervously, David attempted to break the ice without looking or sounding like he was provoking the two of them.

"Um… hello…" gulped David, scratching the back of his head, "It's a pleasure to meet-"

But before he could even finish his sentence, he found himself locked within the same tight embrace of Tess that Lisa had been in, with his face buried in her cleavage as a result. With widened eyes, David tried to pry himself free, but Tess kept him held tight with unnatural strength.

"Oh, aren't you just the sweetest thing?!" grinned Tess, "So great our Lisa found herself the perfect guy! Don't you agree, Daxter-Waxter?"

"He certainly has the attitude of a good lad," commented Daxter.

David was now starting to feel lightheaded; Tess's crushing grip coupled with the close contact to her very partially shown breasts was beginning to greatly overwhelm him. Thankfully, Tess finally released him from her hold after swinging him around a few times, to which he began to stumble backwards. Seeing him beginning to lose his balance, Mayura and Juri quickly rushed up and caught him just as he started to fall backwards, with a look of stupefaction plastered clearly on his red face from lack of oxygen from the tight hug and embarrassment from the thing we'd like to call Marshmallow Hell.

"Well, enough of this crap!" boomed Daxter, "Is there a nearby place where we can grab some grub? I'm friggin' starving!"

"Urrrgh… this coffee shop sells breakfast foods, sir," deadpanned Mayura.

"Eh? It does?" blinked Daxter, before smirking and resumed being himself, "Well, $*#^, I didn't know that! Let's go and get some food!"

"We'll be right with you two," claimed Lisa, as Asagi, Mayura, and Juri nodded in agreement, "We just need to discuss something first."

"Suit yourselves. Just haul your asses inside whenever you're ready."

And thus, Tess and Daxter both went inside the coffee shop to grab a bite to eat. The Astray trio, meanwhile, were left deeply surprised and bemused by the very colorful characteristics the two arrivals had—which included Tess's flirty, overly affectionate gestures along with Daxter's own personality and, more importantly, his foul mouth. David simply remained in a stupor from being face first in Tess's chest.

"Wow… Now we know where Lisa got some of her attitude from," commented Juri.

"And not to mention her rather dirty mouth," cracked Asagi.

"Aren't Uncle Daxter and Aunt Tess both the best?" grinned Lisa.

"Weeeell…" mused Mayura, being unable to figure out how to respond to that question.

"I believe I witnessed…Heaven…" said David absentmindedly yet goofily, still reeling from enduring (and partially enjoying) the very same hug Lisa got from her well endowed Aunt, "Tess-san is particularly affectionate…and very blessed in certain assets, indeed."

"What was that?" Lisa pressed, overhearing the perverted comment and causing David to look a little freaked out, "Dave, I can't believe you said that about my Aunt! I thought you were better than that!"

"S-Sorry, Lisa-chan!" apologized David hastily, "It was a accidental slip of the tongue!"

Lisa shook her head, "It's a habit my Aunt has," she sighed, before glancing at a nearby clock and realizing something, "Hold on, if it's only 11:15 in the morning, then how could Uncle Daxter and Aunt Tess both be here already? Maine is five or so hours away from Connecticut."

"Well, why don't we go inside and ask them about it?" suggested Asagi.

And it was agreed to.

(inside…)

Inside the coffee shop, Lisa, David, and the Astray trio joined Daxter and Tess for breakfast. As they all ate, Lisa pressed the important question to her Uncle.

"Uncle Daxter, why are you and Aunt Tess here early?" she asked, "When you were talking to me on the phone, you said you'd be here in the afternoon."

"Huh?" quizzed Daxter, looking up from his donut and at Lisa, "Well, to tell you the truth, kiddo, Tess and I weren't actually visiting from Maine, but we actually arrived from New York City."

"New York City?" pondered Juri.

"Yup," confirmed Daxter, "Almost the entire 'All-Star Squad' is stationed there acting as private security at the request of the state governor Rex Godwin following the unprovoked attack on the Orb Duel School…" As he finished his explanation, Tess nodded in agreement, "…in Hartford about two months ago."

"This is freakin' amazing!" cheered Lisa, "Now I know the reason why Mom and Dad both were called away! Plus they're somewhat close by—well, them and practically my entire extended family are, too, which means I…" She looked towards David, Asagi, Mayura, and Juri, "…can introduce you three and everyone else when I get the chance!"

"There will be plenty of time for that," reassured Daxter, "Seeing as the squad isn't looking to relocate for at least a while."

"On that topic," cut in Juri, having a question of her own to ask, "what is it the both of you do as part of 'The All-Star Squad'?"

"Well, Ms. Meganekko, I'll tell you," offered Daxter, while Juri looked a little confused at being called something like that, "As Lieutenant Colonel, I rank just below my brother Jak, who," He leaned back fondly at the mention of his duties, "as we know, is Lisa's Dad. Spargus Unit is in charge of maintaining the ground vehicles, scouring the deep desert for artifacts, and experimenting with new combat enhancing substances invented by our 'sage', so to speak."

"Sage?" Lisa pondered, quickly realizing who Daxter was referring to, "Oh, you mean Papa Samos?"

"Yup! Ol' green stuff is still kicking about," Daxter responded, winking.

"If I may ask, what exactly are these 'combat enhancing substances'?" asked Asagi curiously.

"Ah, ah, ah! Sorry, blondie, but that is classified," declined Daxter firmly, raising his hands and waving them with the palms exposed, "I can't tell Lisa, you, nor your friends."

"Blondie?!" thought Asagi, feeling annoyed over being called 'blondie'. She shook her head and decided to drop the thought, "Oh, I see. Sorry for asking."

"As for me, I'm the armorer of the Haven unit," Tess brought up, continuing Juri's original question, "I build weapons and gear, manage distribution, and maintain them to a perfect working order."

"Awesome!" admired Asagi.

"I know, right?" squealed Mayura.

As good as the current conversation was, Daxter quickly grew bored of the discussion, and, with a mischievous gleam in his eyes, looked towards Lisa to make an offer to her.

"Say, Lisa, I've been meaning to ask you…" said Daxter, causing Lisa to look curious, "How far have your dueling skills improved? Have they gotten any better?" He then looked proud and imposing, "Let's see them in action, for I challenge you to a Turbo Duel!"

"Oh, you do?" grinned Lisa, "Actually, I've a better idea," She directed her attention towards both Tess and David, "Well, Uncle Daxter, how about Dave and I face you and Aunt Tess?"

"Lisa-chan?!" gawked David.

"Lisa?" pondered Tess.

"That way, we can make it a two against two duel!" continued Lisa, "Whaddya say, Uncle Daxter?" Daxter listened to his niece's request, "Shall you and Aunt Tess take on Dave and I?"

"You know, Lisa, that does sound like a good idea," accepted Tess, being the first to accept the offer, "It would give me an excuse to fight alongside my Daxter-Waxter."

"You sure know how to energize a guy, Tess baby!" flirted Daxter.

David, meanwhile, looked unsure. Sure it would be fun to duel alongside his new girlfriend against her two relatives, but there was also the fact this would be his first time teaming up with her, and he didn't know how well they'd do as a team.

"Go on, Dave," offered Juri.

"Team up with Lisa," added Asagi, "Show those relatives of hers your skills as a duelist! We know you wanna…"

"We're not gonna stop you from having a good time," finished Mayura.

David thought about it and realized that this might be the opportunity to help him and Lisa grow stronger as duelists. At last, he faced Lisa, Daxter, and Tess, giving them his answer.

"Very well, I welcome this challenge with great anticipation so as to witness your dueling prowess firsthand," nodded David. When Daxter and Tess both blinked in response, he said it in simpler terms, "Ahem! That means sure I'll join in the Turbo Duel."

"Yay!" cheered Tess.

"Attaboy, Dave!" encouraged Lisa.

Daxter grinned, "That's what I like to hear," he commented, before eyeing the Astray trio, "But you know, kid, you seem to be very popular with those three young ladies."

"(何?!) Nani?! (What?!)" cried David in Japanese, blushing, "I-I-I have no idea as to what you are inferring! I mean, make no misconstruction, I think Asagi-san, Juri-san, and Mayura-san each are very attractive young women, but…" He looked in the Astray trio's direction, as they listened with curiosity, "…I think of them more as older sister-like figures like how they treat Lisa-chan as a younger sister figure."

"Oh?" smirked Mayura, having heard that David finds her, Asagi, and Juri to be pretty, "Is that so?"

"Then why don't you tell us which of us three you find to be prettier, Dave?" flirted Juri.

"Come on, out with it!" requested Asagi, wrapping her arms around David and getting up close to him, "Tell us who the prettier girl is."

A flustered-looking David had a look that signaled he was not going to answer the question. Did that stop the three Astray girls from wanting an answer? Not at all.

"Answer us, Dave!" Asagi, Mayura, and Juri each dared at the same time.

But David knew exactly the kind of old and cliched game they were playing, and wasn't planning on giving them the satisfaction of playing along with it. Realizing David had no intention of going along with their little game, Asagi, Mayura, and Juri each gave up and pouted. Lisa chuckled and faced her excited-looking Uncle and Aunt.

"I guess that confirms it," she shrugged, before getting aggressive, "Bring it on!"

Daxter and Tess both smiled with anticipation.

(elsewhere…)

Later on inside Orb's Turbo Duel stadium, Lisa, riding Strike Rouge and David, riding The Wild Card were lined up at the starting line; Daxter and Tess were next to them one their own respective Duel Runners.

"This is gonna be friggin' wicked!" smirked Daxter, as he revved up his engine and caused several sparks of electricity to discharge from the frame.

"Lisa-chan, is it wise for your Uncle to be using a Duel Runner that is quite clearly sparking?" David asked with concern.

"Totally," reassured Lisa, "Uncle Daxter's been handling electric weapons and gadgets for years; it can't hurt him."

"Damn straight!" exclaimed Daxter, loudly and proudly, "Lisa and kid, say hello to my Duel Runner, 'Orange Lightning'—zazaziing!"

He finished that bit off with a fast body jolt. In the stands, the Astray trio were joined by Matt, Ashima, Zack, and Mr. Kisaka.

"Say, Matt, any idea why Carlie declined to come watch the duel?" asked Asagi.

"Carlie's spending time with her family, since this is their last day visiting Hartford," answered Matt.

"She deserves to spend time with her parents and brother," acknowledged Zack, narrowing his eyes darkly as he brought up some very dark events from not long ago, "After all the horrible crap the Dark Signers put her through…"

"If you ask me, I'm glad Carlie came out of that horror an even stronger individual," admitted Ashima, before looking glum, "Stronger than somebody like me…"

"Rest assured, Ashima," comforted Mr. Kisaka, which caused the young Indian woman to look over, "You will regain your strength to duel in due time."

Still frowning, Ashima looked back at the track and truly hoped that would be the case. Back on the track with the four Duel Runners, Lisa was going over the rules for how the tag team Turbo Duel would work.

"The rules are simple," The pink-haired girl began, "Both sides share 8000 LP and Speed Counters."

"Speed Counters?" wondered Tess.

"I think they're part of that new ruling for Turbo Duels," figured Daxter.

"Oh."

"Right you are, Uncle Daxter!" confirmed Lisa, "We also share fields and GYs, and we cannot declare an attack until all four duelists take at least one turn."

"When you put it that way, let's get down to it!" declared Tess.

In the stands, Zack watched while folding his arms with an eager grin on his face. Back on the track, all four duelists got to work setting up the field for their Turbo Duel.

"Field Spell, 'High Speed World', set on!" Lisa, David, Tess, and David all announced at once, before they pressed a button on the dashboard of their respective Duel Runners.

On the monitors of Strike Rouge, The Wild Card, Orange Lightning, and Road Blade, a whole new Spell Card materialized and activated.

"Duel Mode, engaged," came a computerized voice aboard the four, respective Duel Runners, "Autopilot activated."

From there, all four Duel Runners became surrounded by a purple dome as autopilot activated. As the timer ticked to the final seconds, and the small audience waited…

"Turbo Duel!" The voices of Lisa and David began.

"Acceleration!" The voices of Daxter and Tess both finished.

As soon as the timer reduced zero, all four Duel Runners tore down the track. It was shown that Tess's Duel Runner, Road Blade, was extremely fast and built for speed—it was able to get far away from the other three Duel Runners before the corner was even turned. Even as her Aunt got very far ahead, Lisa still felt thankful she added some improvements to Strike Rouge earlier on to help speed it up. Pretty soon, Road Blade crossed the finish line first, with Strike Rouge coming in second place. Orange Lightning came in third, and The Wild Card was in last place.

"Duel!" David, Lisa, Daxter, and Tess all announced at once (LP: 8000) x2.

In the stands…

"It's finally starting," mused Matt.

"Let's see what Daxter and Tess both play for Decks!" came from Mayura,

Back on the track…

"It's my turn!" yelled Tess, drawing a card, "Draw!"

Turn One: Tess Drake (Team LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Inzektor Dragonfly", "Inzektor Centipede", "Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow", "Inzektor Ladybug", "Inzektor Giga-Mantis", and "Inzektor Hornet"
Speed Counters: 0

Her drawn card was a Monster Card known as 'Inzektor Hornet'. She added the card into her hand, took another from there, and placed it onto her Duel Runner.

"I Summon 'Inzektor Dragonfly'!" announced Tess.

Appearing onto the field was a human male wearing a black bodysuit with bits of red armor, red boots, gloves, a pair of dragonfly-like wings sticking out of back, and wielding a blaster (Level: 3/ATK: 1000/DEF: 1800). In the stands, the Astray trio looked surprised to see an 'Inzektor' monster, while Zack silently believed this was going to be good. On the track, Lisa knew that her Aunt played an 'Inzektor' Deck, silently hoping that David was ready for it. On the other hand, Tess was far from being done with her turn.

"From there, I'll activate the first effect of my monster!" While speaking, she readied another card ('Inzektor Ladybug') in-between her fingers for the brief explanation before placing it onto her Duel Runner, "Once per turn: I can equip 1 'Inzektor' monster from my hand or GY to this card. I equip 'Inzektor Ladybug' to 'Inzektor Dragonfly'!"

Appearing onto the field as a spirit was a human male wearing a red/black bodysuit with a red helmet and a red discus as a weapon. He then merged with 'Inzektor Dragonfly' and energized him.

"This activates 'Inzektor Ladybug's' second effect!" continued Tess, just as 'Inzektor Dragonfly' grew stronger in every way (Level: 3 → 5/ATK: 1000 → 1500/DEF: 1800 → 1900) "While this card is equipped to a monster, that monster's Level is increased by 2, also it gains ATK/DEF equal to this card's ATK/DEF," She then smiled with confidence and revealed another power 'Inzektor Ladybug' had, "But 'Inzektor Ladybug' has a third effect…"

"A third effect…" whispered David.

"While this card is equipped to a monster: I can send this Equip Card to the GY, then target 1 face-up monster I control; I must increase that target's Level by 1 or 2," explained Tess, before holding up her card ('Inzektor Ladybug'), "I send my 'Inzektor Ladybug' to the GY…" She sent the card to the GY, "…and raise 'Inzektor Dragonfly's' Level by two!"

'Inzektor Dragonfly' maintained the Level boost, but lost the ATK and DEF boost (ATK: 1500 → 1000/DEF: 1900 → 1800).

"Just peachy," thought Lisa, "All Aunt Tess needs is one more Level 5 monster…"

"Next, I'll activate the second effect of 'Inzektor Dragonfly's' second effect!" Tess declared, holding up a card ('Inzektor Giga-Cricket') she took from her Deck, "If an Equip Card(s) is sent to my GY while equipped to this card (except during the Damage Step): I can Special Summon 1 'Inzektor' monster from my Deck, except 'Inzektor Dragonfly'," She placed the card onto her Duel Runner, "Come, 'Inzektor Giga-Cricket'!"

Appearing onto the field was a mechanical, cricket-like, female monster standing on two legs (Level: 5/ATK: 2000/DEF: 1300). From there, the Overlay Network appeared in the center of the track, absorbing both of Tess's monsters.

"I overlay Level 5 'Inzektor Dragonfly' and 'Inzektor Giga-Cricket'!" The voice of Tess proclaimed, just before something exploded out of the Overlay Network, "Xyz Summon! Rank 5! 'Inzektor Exa-Stag'!"

Appearing onto the field, as the Xyz Summon ended, was a humanoid, yet also robotic-looking, stag beetle monster (Rank: 5/ATK: 800/DEF: 800).

"That monster doesn't look too threatening," thought David, before shaking his head, "No, I shouldn't think that. Most monsters with low ATK tend to pack powerful effects."

"Now to give my monster an upgrade!" said Tess, readying one more card in her right hand. She placed the card onto her Duel Runner, "I equip 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow' onto 'Inzektor Exa-Stag'!"

An advanced-looking mechanical weapon that was a cross between a laser blaster and a crossbow appeared in the hands of 'Inzektor Exa-Stag'.

"'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow'?" pondered David.

"I must equip only to an 'Inzektor' monster," observed Tess, just before 'Inzektor Exa-Stag' gained some power (ATK: 800 → 1300), "It gains 500 ATK," She grinned cheekily, "Oh, and there's a second effect to watch for… My opponent cannot activate cards or effects in response to the activation of the equipped monster's effects," The End Phase then came for her, "I shall call it a turn!"

"It's my turn!" announced Lisa, drawing a card.

As it was the second turn of the duel, both teams gained their first Speed Counter:
-David/Lisa: 0 → 1
-Daxter/Tess: 0 → 1

Turn Two: Lisa Drake (Team LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Naturia Molcricket", "Naturia Forest", "Naturia Sacred Tree", "Naturia Tulip", "Exterio's Fang", and "Naturia Ragweed"
Speed Counters: 1

Lisa's drawn card was a Monster Card known as 'Naturia Ragweed'. She added the card into her hand (which contained 'Naturia Molcricket', 'Naturia Forest', 'Naturia Sacred Tree', 'Naturia Butterfly', and 'Exterio's Fang'), and took another card ('Naturia Molcricket') from there.

"From my hand," The voice of Lisa was saying, as the 'Naturia Molcricket' Monster Card was placed onto a Monster Zone on the Duel Runner, "I'll Summon 'Naturia Molcricket'!"

Appearing onto the field was a small, cartoonish-looking cricket monster (Level: 1/ATK: 0/DEF: 0).

"I will now activate 'Naturia Molcricket's' first effect!" declared Lisa, "During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): I can Tribute this card; I must Special Summon 1 'Naturia' monster from my Deck," She held up a card, which was quickly revealed to be two cards, "If my opponent controls a face-up monster(s) with the highest ATK on the field, I can Special Summon 2 instead."

"Two monsters?!" recoiled Tess.

"Oh, you bet," grinned Lisa, just before 'Naturia Molcricket' faded away in a blue streak, "I offer 'Naturia Molcricket' as a Tribute…" She placed both cards onto her Duel Runner, "Appear now, my monsters!"

Appearing onto the field were both 'Naturia Horneedle' (Level: 4/ATK: 1800/DEF: 100) and 'Naturia Camellia' (Level: 4/ATK: 1400/DEF: 700).

"That's another new one," remarked Daxter.

"That's card collecting for you," boasted Lisa, before taking a card from her Deck, "I'll show you and Aunt Tess the first effect of 'Naturia Carmellia'! If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: I can…" She sent the card ('Naturia Sunflower') to the GY, "…send 1 'Naturia' card from my Deck to the GY."

"What could that 'Naturia' card be?" thought David, "Lisa-chan definitely knows that Deck better than anyone else, so she must know what she's doing."

"I Set two cards face-down…" concluded Lisa, motioning her right arm near the Spell & Trap Zones of her Duel Runner. This caused two face-down cards to appear on the field in-front of Strike Rouge before fading away for later use, "…and end my turn!" She looked up with a confident, fiery look in her eyes, "Alright, Uncle Daxter, do your worst!"

"You should watch you say to me," retorted Daxter with a grin on his face, before drawing a card, "It's my turn!"

Both teams gained their second Speed Counter:
-David/Lisa: 1 → 2
-Daxter/Tess: 1 → 2

Turn Three: Daxter Drake (Team LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Evo-Karma", "Evoltile Odonto", "Evo-Miracle", "Evolsaur Diplo", "Evo-Force", and "Evo-Singularity"
Speed Counters: 2

Daxter's drawn card was a Trap Card called 'Evo-Singularity'. The rest of his hand contained 'Evo-Karma', 'Evoltile Odonto', 'Evo-Miracle', 'Evolsaur Diplo', and 'Evo-Force'. Still smirking, he added his drawn card into his hand and picked another card to play.

"My first card!" bellowed Daxter, slotting the card into his Duel Runner. This resulted in a Spell Card called 'Evo-Karma' materializing face-up on the field in-front of Orange Lightning, "I activate the Continuous Spell, 'Evo-Karma'! When a monster(s) is Special Summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster I control, my opponent cannot activate cards or effects."

"An 'Evoltile' monster?" quizzed David.

"Yup, my Uncle Daxter plays an 'Evol' Deck," confirmed Lisa, as faded images of cards from the 'Evoltile', 'Evolsaur', and 'Evolzar' archetypes moved in the background as she explained a bit about it, "It's three separate series of FIRE monsters that focus on evolving from Reptiles into Dinosaurs, and then finally into Dragons," She then directed her attention to her own Uncle, "Uncle Daxter, did you forget a little something, hm?"

"No, I don't think so," shrugged Daxter absentmindedly.

"Oh boy…" groaned Lisa, before reaching over and poking a button on her Duel Runner, "Counter Trap, open!" The first Set card reappeared on the field, then flipped face-up and revealed itself to be… "'Exterio's Fang'!"

"Aw crap!" realized Daxter.

"If I control a face-up 'Naturia' monster, and have at least 1 card in my hand: I must negate the activation of an opponent's Spell/Trap, and if I do, destroy it, then send 1 card from my hand to the GY," explained Lisa, who then held her right hand out, "'Evo-Karma' will be negated and destroyed!"

The face-up 'Exterio's Fang' Trap Card fired a beam at the face-up 'Evo-Karma' Spell Card behind Orange Lightning, striking and destroying the card, much to the dismay of Daxter.

"Now to send a card from my hand to the GY," joked Lisa, before taking a card ('Naturia Ragweed') from her hand and sending it to the GY, "Mmm… This one can go."

Daxter groaned, while Tess wasn't exactly thrilled that her husband's first card was destroyed before he could even use it.

"Daxter, focus!" scolded Tess, "You can't let her outsmart you!"

"Don't worry, babe, that was just a warm up," reassured Daxter, "I'm gonna shape up starting now!" He took another card and placed it onto his Duel Runner (sideways), "I Summon 'Evoltile Odonto' in Defense Position!"

Appearing onto the field was a turtle-like monster based on the extinct turtle genus known as Odontochelys (Level: 2/ATK: 500/DEF: 1200).

"Nice try, Uncle Daxter, but you helped me again," taunted Lisa.

"How did I help you-?" quizzed Daxter.

"My 'Naturia Camellia' has a third effect," Lisa answered, "If my opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s): I can Special Summon 1 'Naturia' monster from my GY," She took a card ('Naturia Sunflower') from her GY and held it out, "Resurrect, 'Naturia Sunflower'!"

Appearing onto the field was a cartoonish-looking sunflower monster (Level: 2/ATK: 500/DEF: 0). Initially surprised by his niece countering him again, Daxter recovered and continued with his turn.

"The effect of 'Evoltile Odonto' activates!" exclaimed Daxter, taking another card from his hand and readying it, "When this card is Normal Summoned: I can Special Summon 1 'Evolsaur' monster from my hand," He placed the card ('Evolsaur Diplo') onto his Duel Runner, "Come, 'Evolsaur Diplo'!"

Appearing onto the field was a purple dinosaur known as a Diplodocus (Level: 4/ATK: 1600/DEF: 800).

"When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster: I must target 1 Spell/Trap my opponent controls; I must destroy that target," explained Daxter, going over his monster's only effect, "Now, Lisa, let's see how you like people destroying your own cards!" As he gave the command, 'Evolsaur Diplo' started to lower its neck towards Strike Rouge, "'Evolsaur Diplo', destroy my niece's remaining Set card!"

Lisa's remaining Set card reappeared on the field beside Strike Rouge, and 'Evolsaur Diplo' devoured it whole. Rather than be upset from her card's destruction, Lisa instead smiled over it.

"Why, thank you, Uncle Daxter," she praised sarcastically, "You just helped me out again."

"Hold up, I just helped you again?" peeped Daxter, "What did I do, this time?"

"The Trap Card you destroyed is a little something called 'Naturia Sacred Tree'," replied Lisa, holding up her card ('Naturia Sacred Tree'), "By destroying it, you've activated its third effect."

"What the frig?!" panicked Daxter.

"If this card is sent to the GY: I must add 1 'Naturia' card from my Deck to my hand, except 'Naturia Sacred Tree'," commented Lisa, before drawing a card and seeing it was the 'Naturia Pumpkin' Monster Card, "Thanks a ton, I got a hold of one of my favorite cards."

Daxter remained stunned that he messed up again, but then, to try and save some face, started speaking as though he meant to do that.

"S-Sure," insisted Daxter, "But I was only going easy on you. This time, I won't hold back!" To prove it, he held his next card ('Evo-Force'), "Spell Card, 'Evo-Force'! I must Tribute 1 'Evoltile' monster; I must Special Summon 1 'Evolsaur' monster from my Deck," He slotted the card into his Duel Runner, "It is treated as if it was Special Summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster!" 'Evoltile Odonto' faded away in a blue streak, "I Tribute 'Evoltile Odonto' and Special Summon 'Evolsaur Cerato' in Attack Position!"

Appearing onto the field in the older monster's spot, was a gray and yellow dinosaur known as a Ceratosaurus, with a double-helix within its tail (Level: 4/ATK: 1900/DEF: 1400).

"'Evolsaur Cerato's' first effect!" announced Daxter, "When this card is Special Summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster: It gains 200 ATK. This is gonna give my monster an ATK of 2100."

"Bzzt! Wrong!" interrupted Lisa.

"Eh!?"

"The effect of 'Naturia Horneedle'!" The pink-haired girl went on, as focus turned to her 'Naturia Horneedle', "When my opponent Special Summons a monster(s) (Quick Effect): I can Tribute 1 other face-up 'Naturia' monster I control; I must destroy that monster(s)," She then held up another card she controlled ('Naturia Camellia'), "Next, the second effect of 'Naturia Camellia'! If I would Tribute a monster(s) to activate a 'Naturia' monster's effect, I can send the top 2 cards of my Deck to the GY instead."

"Oh, come friggin' on!" whined Daxter.

"Daxter, what is the matter with you?!" yelled Tess, growing increasingly annoyed.

A smug-looking Lisa drew the top two cards ('Ancient Radiance' and 'Naturia Beans') of her Deck and sent them to the GY. In the stands, the Astray trio looked bemused as Asagi and Juri both sweatdropped over how seemingly bad of a duelist Daxter seemed to be.

"Man, Daxter really doesn't seem like a very good player," remarked Mayura.

"Don't be so sure about that," warned Matt, "Daxter might not be making the best of plays, but he probably shouldn't be underestimated just for that."

"I second that," agreed Zack, "Something tells me these misplays are being done on purpose or something."

"On purpose?" pressed Mr. Kisaka, "Hmm…"

Back on the track, Lisa looked certain that she would destroy 'Evolsaur Cerato'. Suddenly, the look on Daxter's face morphed into a more triumphant look.

"I have you now, Lisa," murmured Daxter.

"Huh?" wondered Lisa.

"From my hand, I'll activate a Quick-Play Spell, 'Evo-Miracle'!" continued Daxter, holding another card ('Evo-Miracle') up, "I must target 1 monster that was Special Summoned by the effect of an 'Evoltile' monster; this turn, it cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects."

"That means the effect of 'Naturia Horneedle' won't work!" realized Lisa.

'Naturia Horneedle' fired off a stinger, striking 'Evolsaur Cerato'—but nothing happened to it. In the stands, Mr. Kisaka and the three Astray girls were very surprised by what they saw.

"I don't believe it!" began Mayura.

"Daxter just pulled a Lisa Drake!" put in Asagi.

"Well, at least we know now where she got her smarts from," finished Juri.

With 'Evolsaur Cerato' safe and sound, its ATK went up slightly (ATK: 1900 → 2100).

"That's my Daxter," swooned Tess.

Nearby with David on The Wild Card, he overheard the flirty comments made by Tess towards Daxter and rolled his eyes. A minute ago, Tess was annoyed with Daxter over the mistakes he made, and suddenly she is swooning over a single good play made by him? There was a word he wanted to say to describe the moment, but it likely wouldn't have been a polite thing to say.

"Say, baby, is it alright if I use your monsters?" asked Daxter confidently.

"Just say the word, Daxter-Waxter!" accepted Tess.

"Sweet! I activate 'Inzektor Exa-Stag's' effect!" Daxter rejoiced, and held his right hand out. A material floating around 'Inzektor Exa-Stag' faded away as it started to do something, "Once per turn: I can detach 1 material from this card, then target 1 monster my opponent controls or in their GY; I must equip that target to this card. This card gains ATK/DEF equal to half the original ATK/DEF of the monster(s) equipped by this effect," Focus was shifted towards the 'Naturia Horneedle' on Lisa's field, "Lisa, your 'Naturia Horneedle' is coming with me!"

"And thanks to 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow', you can't activate cards or effects in response to 'Exa-Stag's' effect!" reminded Tess.

'Inzektor Exa-Stag' held both hands out, unleashing a hypnotic ray that possessed 'Naturia Horneedle' and lured it over to Daxter and Tess's field. Before long, 'Inzektor Exa-Stag' absorbed the power of Lisa's monster and grew stronger (ATK: 1300 → 2200/DEF: 800 → 850).

"And now the real fun begins!" rejoiced Daxter, as the Overlay Network reappeared again and absorbed both 'Evolsaur Diplo' and 'Evolsaur Cerato', "I overlay Level 4 'Evolsaur Diplo' and 'Evolsaur Cerato'!" Something shot out of the Overlay Network, "Xyz Summon! Rank 4! 'Evolzar Dolkka'!"

Appearing onto the field, as the Xyz Summon sequence ended, was a silvery-looking dragon with wings and sharp claws (Rank: 4/ATK: 2300/DEF: 1700). A face-down card then materialized on the field beside Orange Lightning (on its right) before fading away for later use.

"I Set one card face-down and end my turn!" concluded Daxter. He then looked over his shoulder at David, "Alright, kid, it's your turn! No pressure, now!"

"Right, no pressure…" uttered David, before drawing a card, "(僕のターン!) Boku no tān! (It's my turn!)"

All four duelists gained another Speed Counter:
-David/Lisa: 2 → 3
-Daxter/Tess: 2 → 3

Turn Four: David Xadashi (Team LP: 8000)
Deck: 54
Current Hand (6): "Morphtronic Boarden", "Gadget Box", "Morphtronic Boomboxen", "Morphtronic Celfon", "Morphtronics, Scramble!", and "Morphtronic Impact Return"
Speed Counters: 3

David's drawn card was the 'Morphtronic Impact Return' Trap Card. He then looked carefully at his hand, which contained 'Morphtronic Boarden', 'Gadget Box', 'Morphtronic Boomboxen', 'Morphtronic Celfon', and 'Morphtronics, Scramble!'.

"Great!" thought David, adding the card into his hand and taking a different one ('Gadget Box') to play, "From my hand, I'll activate 'Gadget Box'!"

He slotted the card into his Duel Runner. This caused a large metallic box to appear on the field.

"'Gadget Box'?" frowned Daxter.

"I wonder what 'that' does…" added Tess innocently.

"When this card resolves, I must place 3 Morph Counters on it," explained David, before pointing forward, "Now!" The metallic box gained three glowing orbs (Morph Counters), "Three Morph Counters have been added, all waiting to be used by us both!"

"But what is the purpose of this card?" pressed Daxter.

"I'm glad you asked," grinned David, before explaining the second effect of his 'Gadget Box' Spell Card, "Once per turn: I can remove 1 Morph Counter from my field, and if I do, Special Summon 1 'Gadget Box Token'. I cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck while this Token is on the field, except Synchro Monsters," From there, an orb from 'Gadget Box' blinked away, "I remove a Morph Counter from 'Gadget Box'…" He then motioned right arm about and held the hand out, "…and Special Summon a 'Gadget Box Token'!"

Appearing onto the field was a robot with six mechanical arms (Level: 1/ATK: 0/DEF: 0).

"Now to add another monster," David went on, before placing a card onto his Duel Runner, "I Summon 'Morphtronic Celfon' in Attack Position!"

Appearing on the field was a large cellphone, but then morphed into a humanoid robot (Level: 1/ATK: 100/DEF: 100).

"Attack Position? With only 100 ATK?" mused Daxter.

"I activate my 'Morphtronic Celfon's' Attack Position effect!" proclaimed David, just as the numbers on 'Morphtronic Celfon's' body started lighting up one-by-one before beginning to slow down, "Once per turn, during my Main Phase: I can roll a six-sided die, excavate that many cards from the top of my Deck, and if I do, Special Summon 1 excavated Level 4 or lower 'Morphtronic' monster, ignoring its Summoning conditions, also shuffle the rest into the Deck."

The buttons soon stopped flashing and landed on three, allowing David to take the top three cards of his Deck and look them over. They were 'Morphtronic Cord' (Spell Card), 'Morphtronic Mix-up' (Trap Card), and 'Morphtronic Remoten' (Tuner Monster Card). The final card caught David's attention since it was a Level 4 or lower 'Morphtronic' monster.

"Now I'll Special Summon a Level 4 or lower 'Morphtronic' monster from my hand," With that said, David placed the card onto a Monster Zone on his Duel Runner, "Come, 'Morphtronic Remoten'!"

Appearing onto the field was a large remote, which then turned into a humanoid robot (Level: 3/ATK: 300/DEF: 1200).

"A Tuner…" whispered Ashima.

"Is Dave going for a Synchro Summon?" wondered Asagi.

"I tune Level 1 'Gadget Box Token' into Level 3 'Morphtronic Remoten'!" The voice of David went on.

Asagi gasped, "He is!"

Back on the track, 'Morphtronic Remoten' turned into three Synchro Rings, which hovered over, lowered, and surrounded 'Gadget Box Token' before turning it into a single orb of light. The symbols 1 + 3 = 4 were shown briefly.

"Synchro Summon!" shouted David, as the single orb of light turned into a massive beam of light, "Come, 'Morphtronic Earfon'!"

Appearing on the field, as the Synchro Summon sequence ended, were two mechanical earphone monsters. One resembled a boy, and the other resembled a girl—but they were still one and the same monster (Level: 4/ATK: 1200/DEF: 1800). In the stands…

"'Morphtronic Earfon'?" puzzled Ashima.

"Now that's definitely a new one," observed Matt.

"Wait, I remember seeing Lisa giving Dave that card!" recalled Asagi.

Back on the track…

"'Morphtronic Earfon's' second effect!" declared David, as 'Morphtronic Earfon' produced some earphones and gave them to 'Naturia Sunflower', "If this card is Special Summoned: I can target 1 face-up monster on the field; I must treat it as a Tuner until the end of this turn."

"'Naturia Sunflower' is now a Tuner monster!" realized Tess.

"Oh, but we cannot have any of that, you two!" interrupted Daxter, all while a material from 'Evolzar Dolkka' faded away, it charged up, and fired off a blast of fire towards 'Morphtronic Earfon', "The effect of 'Evolzar Dolkka'! When another monster's effect is activated (Quick Effect): I can detach 1 material from this card; I must negate the activation, and if I do, destroy that monster!"

"Not so fast, Daxter-san!" cut in David, "I activate the special ability of Lisa-chan's 'Naturia Sunflower'!" 'Naturia Sunflower's' face started glowing, "When my opponent's monster effect is activated (Quick Effect): I can Tribute 1 'Naturia' monster and this card; I must negate the activation, and if I do, destroy that card," He pointed forth, "But there's also 'Naturia Camellia'!"

"He's right," agreed Lisa, as David sent two cards ('Morphtronic Vacuumen' and 'Morphtronic Cameran') from the top of his Deck to the GY, "If you would Tribute a monster(s) to activate a 'Naturia' monster's effect, you can send the top 2 cards of your Deck to the GY instead."

'Naturia Sunflower's' glowing face fired off a solar-like beam towards 'Evolzar Dolkka'.

"I'm several steps ahead of you youngsters!" bragged Daxter, "Once again, I'll activate the effect of 'Evolzar Dolkka'!" The final material floating around 'Evolzar Dolkka' faded away, and it charged and fired off another blast of fire—this time towards 'Naturia Sunflower', "When another monster's effect is activated (Quick Effect): I can detach 1 material from this card; I must negate the activation, and if I do, destroy that monster."

The second blast of fire roasted 'Naturia Sunflower' alive, while the first flame blast finally struck and destroyed 'Morphtronic Earfon'. As upset as he was that he failed to use his new monster properly, he was at least relieved to have gotten 'Evolzar Dolkka' to use up all the materials it had attached.

"Daxter-Waxter, you've done it again!" beamed Tess, happy her husband pulled off another successful combo, "You make me so happy!."

"Well, baby, if you like that, you'll definitely love this!" smirked Daxter, before resuming his focus on the duel. His Set card flipped face-up in-front of Orange Lightning and revealed itself, "I activate a Trap, 'Evo-Singularity'! I must target 1 'Evoltile' monster and 1 'Evolsaur' monster in my GY; I must Special Summon 1 'Evolzar' Xyz Monster from my Extra Deck, and if I do, attach those monsters to it as material!" He then held up two cards ('Evoltile Odonto' and 'Evolsaur Cerato') taken from his GY, "I target the Level 4 'Evoltile Odonto' and 'Evolsaur Cerato'!"

The Overlay Network reappeared, and both Monster Cards were released from Daxter's hand and absorbed into it. Before long, something shot out of it.

"Come forth! Rank 4! 'Evolzar Laggia'!" commanded Daxter.

Appearing onto the field was a silvery dragon similar to 'Evolzar Dolkka', only with six wings instead of four (Rank 4/ATK: 2400/DEF: 2000). An ATK of 2400 was high for this point in the duel, but David was quick to respond to it.

"The second effect of 'Naturia Molcricket' activates!" The aqua blue-haired boy blurted, just as 'Naturia Molcricket' reappeared on the field (Level: 1/ATK: 0/DEF: 0), "If my opponent Special Summons a monster(s) from the Extra Deck, or I Special Summon a 'Naturia' monster(s) from the Extra Deck, while this card is in my GY: I can Special Summon this card."

"And that's not all, because now 'Naturia Camellia's' third effect can be activated, as well!" explained Lisa, "If your opponent Normal or Special Summons a monster(s): You can Special Summon 1 'Naturia' monster from your GY."

"Quite right, Lisa-chan!" nodded David, before holding his right hand out, "Come forth-!"

"Come forth nothing!" cut in Daxter, causing David to gasp, "I activate 'Evolzar Laggia's' effect!" Both materials faded away from 'Evolzar Laggia', and it let out a roar before charging and firing off a blast of fire, "When a monster(s) would be Normal or Special Summoned, OR a Spell/Trap Card is activated (Quick Effect): I can detach 2 materials from this card; I must negate the Summon or activation, and if I do, destroy it."

"Both materials?!" cried Lisa.

With that said, 'Naturia Camellia' got roasted by the blast of fire, leaving David upset with himself for getting another of his partner's monsters destroyed unintentionally.

"Sorry, Lisa-chan…" apologized David.

"Don't worry about it," dismissed Lisa, smiling, "I'll get more monsters onto our field," To prove it, she held her right hand out, "I activate 'Naturia Molcricket's' first effect!" Two cards ejected from the Deck, which were taken, "During the Main Phase (Quick Effect): I can Tribute this…" She then held both cards ('Naturia Mantis' and 'Naturia Rosewhip') up, "…card; I must Special Summon 1 'Naturia' monster from my Deck. If my opponent controls a face-up monster(s) with the highest ATK on the field, I can Special Summon 2 instead," Both cards were placed sideways onto separate Monster Zones on the Duel Runner, "Show yourselves, 'Naturia Mantis' and 'Naturia Rosewhip'!"

Appearing onto the field were the cartoonish prey mantis (Level: 4/ATK: 1700/DEF: 1500) and the greenish cartoon-like rose monster (Level: 3/ATK: 400/DEF: 1700).

"'Naturia Rosewhip's' effect!" declared Lisa, "My opponent can only activate 1 Spell/Trap Card each turn."

"Now I'll Set two cards face-down and end my turn!" finished David, slotting two cards into his Duel Runner at the same time, "We've all taken a turn, meaning we can officially attack and see who has the better strategy."

Daxter, Tess, and Lisa each nodded in agreement. All four Duel Runners crossed the finish line again and began another lap. Neither side had taken a LP hit, but that would likely change starting now.

"It's my turn!" announced Tess, drawing a card.

This rewarded both sides another Speed Counter:
-David/Lisa: 3 → 4
-Daxter/Tess: 3 → 4

Turn Five: Tess Drake (Team LP: 8000)
Deck: 52
Current Hand (4): "Inzektor Centipede", "Inzektor Giga-Mantis", "Inzektor Hornet", and "Resonance Device"
Speed Counters: 4

Tess's drawn card was a Spell Card called 'Resonance Device', but the second her turn began…

"I activate a Trap, 'Morphtronic Impact Return'!" exclaimed David, as his first Set card reappeared on the field in-front of The Wild Card, flipped face-up, and revealed itself, "I must target up to 2 Spell/Traps my opponent controls; I must shuffle 1 'Morphtronic' monster from my hand into the Deck, and if I do, shuffle that card(s) into the Deck."

"You know what that means, right, Aunt Tess?" joked Lisa, "Dave will shuffle a 'Morphtronic' monster into his Deck, then target both your 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow' and 'Naturia Horneedle' and shuffle them into the Deck."

"But, Lisa, your 'Naturia Horneedle' is a Monster Card," reminded Tess.

"How quickly you forget…" dismissed Lisa, shaking her head, "While in a Spell & Trap Zone, Monster Cards are treated as Spell or Trap Cards."

"It's a simple rule," added David, holding out a card ('Morphtronic Boarden'), "I shuffle 'Morphtronic Boarden' back into my Deck…" Behind Road Blade, both the face-up 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow' Spell Card and the 'Naturia Horneedle' Monster Card sank into the field, "…to send 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow' and 'Naturia Horneedle' both into your Deck and Lisa-chan's Deck respectively, Tess-san!"

"I get back 'Naturia Horneedle'!" acknowledged Lisa, holding out her retrieved card ('Naturia Horneedle') before inserting it into her Deck, "Plus, with its Equip Card gone," She pointed forward, "'Inzektor Exa-Stag's' stats return to normal!"

That was true… Without 'Naturia Horneedle' or 'Inzektor Crossbow - Zektarrow' being equipped to 'Inzektor Exa-Stag', its stats both went back down (ATK: 2200 → 800/DEF: 850 → 800).

"What a shame, right, Aunt Tess?" teased Lisa.

"Just because 'Inzektor Exa-Stag's' ATK and DEF are back to being 800, doesn't mean I'm going to give up on it like this!" insisted Tess, "Just you both wait, the battle is yet to begin in earnest!"

In the stands, Matt, Ashima, Zack, Asagi, Mayura, Juri, and Mr. Kisaka all listened and watched with anticipation. Which team was going to win out? Well, it's too soon to tell, seeing as the Turbo Duel had just begun.

Phew! The original draft for this chapter was so long (nearly 20000 or so words) that we have decided to make this Turbo Duel a two parter. Expect the second part of the duel to be posted later the next day.
