AMY POV
I continue to eat the food as I look out the window, wondering how my kingdom was doing.
"Hopefully Rouge keeps everyone sane while I am gone… I do miss being home though. I hope Axel is recovering okay as well…Yikes I just remembered he kissed me too… I don't know how I feel about that anymore" I think as I bite a piece of a grape.
"I also hope my dad isn't freaking out too much as well… Honestly before I left maybe I should have told him because I am all he has…I miss him."
My eyes hit workers who are carrying tables on the sidewalk.
"I am guessing that must be for the party… "
I move closer to the window watching everyone move around busily.
I hear a knock on the door causing me to jump. I run to the side of the bed in a hurry. I crawl under the bed and my hand hits a box. I push the box aside and then I move deeper under the bed until I am fully covered. The doorknob twists and doesn't open. I watch the door carefully and then the sunlight flickers on the box that was under here with me causing me to look at it.
The black and has sliver locks on it, on the top of the box it has the fire emblem on it but this time instead of the symbol being gold it was white, which made me curious to why it was different.
I look at the door once more and then I slowly pull the box to me. I shake it and I hear rattling inside.
"It sounds like… jewelry or glass" I think in my head as I continue to look at the mysterious box.
My thumb hits something paper at the bottom of the box and I turn it upside down gentle. A note appears on the bottom of the box and I start to read it.
"For when you are ready for the sun, the moon will follow in a bliss and rage"
I cock my eyebrow in confusion as I read the riddle. The door opens and I place the box back down on the ground. I see black shoes and black pants moving into the room carefully.
"Princess? It's me Knuckles" he says moving across the room to set something down.
I sigh in relief and I move from under the bed. I look at the box once more. I shrug and I roll from under the bed and onto my feet I shake the dust from my head, and I look ahead to Knuckles who watches me come from under the bed.
"Nice hiding spot" he says causally.
"Thanks, it was very last minute" I say moving closer to him.
I notice the stack of papers on the desk causing Knuckles to look back at them as well.
"Yeah that's Sonic paperwork he has to do." Knuckles says scratching his head.
"I guess that's what you get when you just up nd leave the kingdom out of nowhere" I say jokingly.
Knuckles expression changes causing me to walk a little closer.
"Is everything okay" I ask.
He shakes his head and responds.
"Yeah everything is fine… The prince is just hard to be around sometimes"
"Oh, did something happen?" I question folding my arms in concern.
"Nothing new… just Sonic being distant as usual.
"… distant? Why would he be distant I feel like he would be pretty open with you guys" I say.
Knuckles looks at me then thinks about what to say next.
"Just family issues. Nothing to major" he says.
I nod my head and my mind starts to wonder about the expression he had.
"Just family issues… seems like a lot more than that… maybe I should ask Sonic later about his family… since he is from the fire kingdom about the stories must be pretty gruesome. But who knows" I think but I change the subject by smiling.
"So are you here to discuss the plans for the party" I say walking to a table and a chair that was placed by the piano.
Knuckles eyes lighten up and he follows me to the table.
"Yes, indeed Princess." He says.
Knuckles reaches in his pocket and pulls out a small bottle of black liquid and I am guessing this is the "24-hour dye that will be in my hair".
"This is the hair dye. Black as you ordered and all you have to do is follow the instructions. Black hair simple. But now for the dress, I am not super sure on what kind of dress you would like or even if this dress will fit you, but I am going to get it right now. I'll bring it through the window so no one will see me coming in Sonic room with a dress which would be very suspicious". He says while pointing to the door.
"Alright and how will I get to the entrance of the party" I say.
"Well I will just take you from the window as well and to the entrance. Then we will walk in causally with our masks on of course"
I nod and clasp my hands.
"Okay I got it! I am going to go dye my hair right now" I say grabbing the bottle and standing.
"Sweet, while you do that, I am going to go get the dress for you" He says standing up and walking towards the doors.
I grab the knob to Sonic's bathroom, and I enter it. I place the hair dye on the counter, and I look at my hair. It's still has a wet look to it and my curls are shinning from the light in Sonic bathroom. I turn on the water putting my head in it making sure it all gets wet again. I lean back up looking at myself in the mirror and I make sure that my hair is nice and wet. I grab the bottle of hair dye and I read the instructions.
"Wet hair. Apply dye. Wait 5 minutes. Wash." I say out loud.
I squirt the dye into my hair and the coldness from the bottle slowly touches my scalp causing me to shiver. I squirt a lot more of it in my hands and I place it through my hair repeatedly.
I cover my entire head in it and then I look in the mirror.
"Wow" I say softly looking at my now black hair.
The black makes my blue eyes pop a lot more and makes my tan skin looking brighter. I smile softly at my new look and I wait 5 minutes for it to sink in. I wash my hands getting the black dye off and it comes off with ease. I shake my hands then I look around the bathroom waiting for my hair to dry. I turn around back to mirror and I stare myself. I slowly look down to the brown cabinet and I open it.
Sonic hygiene items appear. An unused toothbrush and toothpaste.
I grab them both and I start to brush my teeth.
"I am sure he wouldn't mind" I say as I brush my teeth.
I spit into the sink and I rinse my mouth, getting all the toothpaste out and then I place my toothbrush in the cabinet for later if I ever needed to use it again. I look at my hair and I think about how long its been.
I think 3 minutes has passed so I sigh in boredom waiting for my hair to black out. I bend down on the floor and I open more drawers. I look in and I see scissors, aid kits, and toilet paper. Normal necessities for a person.
My eyes slowly wonder to the door.
"But what was in that box he had" I think to myself.
I stand up slowly and I walk to the door.
"Wait maybe I shouldn't snoop around… If I wanted to know I am sure he would just tell me… right?" I think.
I shake it off and I decide to focus back on the party that was very soon based on how dark the sky was getting. I walk back to the sink and I wet my hair. I look in the sink to see no black dye coming so that means that it's in there for 24 hours now.
I lean up and I look at my black soaked hair. I grab a towel and I dry my hair while walking out of the bathroom. I look out the window waiting for Knuckles to appear. I notice that the sky is getting darker based on the sun leaving for the night.
I catch the moon and I feel my energy boost up.
"The moons feel so great"
I close my eyes and I soak in the moonlight until a I hear knock on the window. I open my eyes and I see Knuckles holding a black dress bag while floating in the sky with his fire.
I open the window quickly allowing him and he touches the floor, looking at me in amazement.
"Princess black suits you well!" He says while smiling.
I smile at his comment and thank him.
"Knuckles is so nice to me; I can see why Sonic keeps him around"
I also notice that Knuckles has on a grey suit with a purple buttoned up shirt, but his suit is buttoned up halfway.
"You look great as well" I say crossing my hands behind my back.
"Thank you, Princess, and here is your dress. I hope it's too your liking" he says handing me the dress bag.
I take the dress bag in excitement and I run to the bathroom to put it on. I hang the dress bag on a towel rack and some of the bag touches the floor. I unzip and the color of the dress makes me drops my mouth in awe.
"Is the dress okay for you" I hear Knuckles ask through the door.
"It's… it's perfect!
SONIC POV
I sigh as D'Coolette goes through my hair one more time with gel and a brush making my quills slick and shiny. My leg starts to shake in anticipation to head to the party and watch over Amelia. D'coolette moves in front of me one more time with a comb in her mouth studying over my hair. She grabs a short piece of my hair in the front and it hangs out on my forehead. I look up at it and I blow at it as it tickles my face.
"Sonic no stop. I am finished so don't mess up my work" She says causing me to groan and stand up.
"So, does this mean I am done?" I ask already walking towards the door not caring if my hair is done or not.
"Yes, I am done so go ahead and run off now" She says while waving her hand at me and cleaning up.
"Thank D" I say, and I take off down the hair heading to the party. I pass the kitchen and many chefs and maids are running back and forth making sure all the food was ready to go for the guests. I move out of the way as a big cake passes me. I follow the big cake to the party room, and I notice my father is near the entrance of It causing me to sigh again for the fiftieth time. I try to hide until I hear my name get called causing me to walk up to him.
"Hello father" I say bowing slightly and a big grin appears on his face. His friends beside him bow to me and I do the same making sure to avoid any more lectures.
"Sonic you dapper than ever!" MY dad says causing me to nod at in agreement.
My dad's friend an older Cheetah places a hand on my shoulder.
"Welcome back to the kingdom hero! Without you we would have not been protected by that water bending scum" He says causing me to just fake laugh and smile.
"He better not be talking about Amelia" I think
"Yes, Sonic we all of the fire kingdom are very proud of your hard work to ensure the safety of the kingdom! We will soon have a great king in our hands!"
Says an older purple elephant patting me on my shoulder as well.
"Yes, thank you for all your kind words" I say.
"Sonic my son! Let me have a word with you" says my father.
I nod and I follow him into the ball room which was big enough to fit more than 150 people. I look around at the decorations placed in the big bronze room. Blue Tassels hang from the ceiling and sliver paper diamonds spin from the ceiling, making the place look nice and sparkly. There a lot of tables as well draped with a sliver tablecloth with plates and water filled glass ups on them. The silverware is nice and shiny as well as it is placed on a white napkin.
My father continues to walk into the ballroom passing multiple tables and chairs. I also notice a big open area which I am guessing it is for music. There is also a stage were a band was tuning their instruments getting's ready to play. In front of the dance floor is a big golden chair with a red cushion with a crown beside it. I sigh as I realize that the seat must be for me and my father is about to give me some long talk about how proud he is of me.
"Sit here son" he says happily.
I walk up the stairs to the seat and I sit down.
My dad steps back and looks at me in awe.
"Sonic… your mother would be so proud to see here and your actions for saving the kingdom" my dad says.
"Yeah she would" I say blankly, resting my hand on the chair and sinking into a bit letting my legs spread out.
"Sonic- "
"Sonic! Sit right the guests are heading here as we speak" says Cheyenne appear behind my dad.
"You took the words right out of my mouth Cheyenne" says my father looking back at Cheyenne and Cheyenne bows.
I look at Cheyenne and a flashback from earlier today floats through my mind. I shrug it off by looking elsewhere at the maids doing last finishing touches.
"Why can't I sit how I please? It's my party" I say in annoyance.
"You are looking presentable is right as well" Cheyenne says moving closer to me.
He goes behind my chair and pulls me up making me sit more up in my seat.
I sigh loudly and I try to stand up, but I get pushed back down.
"No Sonic there is no time for running off. You just have to sit here and greet all the guests, say your speech and then you can do as you please" says Cheyenne.
"Wait, ALL OF THEM" I say loudly in confusion.
"Yes Sonic! They owe you everything since you practically protected the kingdom "says my dad.
"Oh my god- "
"Oh Sonic!" says a feminine voice at the stairs.
Cheyenne and my dad move out to way to show Blaze in a deep red dress. The dress is was a spaghetti strap dress that hugged her curves nicely and showed off her muscles in her arms. The bottom of her dress also had a slit showing his muscular leg and sliver pump. She also had sliver earrings and a little bit of make-up. Her purple hair was also down instead of a ponytail she usually has it. She also has on a red mask that matched her dress.
She bows to my dad and Cheyenne and they greet her with a smile and complements of her dress.
"Sonic what happened to the suit I picked out" she says.
"Oh D' Coolette made a suit for me and I forgot to tell you about that. Don't take it personal and you look beautiful by the way" I say smiling at her.
She smiles and flips her hair in confidence.
"Thank you, Sonic."
Music starts to play setting the mood for party and guess start to enter with their significant other, families and friends. Different color dresses enter the room and start walking towards my platform.
"Alright it's starting! "Cheyenne says in excitement clasping his hands together. Cheyenne moves besides me making sure to protect like he always does.
"I will be sitting in the royal area so you can have all the attention" My dad says walking off to his seat.
"I guess I should go too" Blaze says coming closer to me.
"Uhm" I think in my head as she inches closer to my face. She looks at my lips but then and kisses me on the cheek instead.
She leans back and looks at me with a different expression causing me to say something, but she walks away quickly allowing the first guest to greet me.
A family of orange racoons bow to me and I immediately bow back as well.
"Thank you, Prince Sonic, for protecting us!" the kids say in unison causing me to smile.
I kneel down to them and pat both of their heads.
"No need for thanks. I would always protect my loyal citizens if it's the last thing I do." I say strongly.
"I mean it" I think in my head.
They both smile brightly, and they move on down the stairs to go sit at the table.
20 minutes later of greeting my guests I get a lot of nice compliments and stories about how I have inspired them to go out do the things they thought they couldn't do. I thought party was going to be pretty awkward and uneasy, but everyone is so welcoming that I left unannounced. It makes me feel happy.
"But what would make everything better is if I could see Amelia."
I shake and thank more guests as they walk by and then Jet walks up with a woman beside him. He looks at me smirking already and I chuckle at him. He gives me a handshake and looks me in the eye.
"About time you grow some balls" he says eyeing my suit.
"Yeah, so you better not fuck with me then" I say jokingly.
He smiles sincerely and pulls me in for a hug.
"I am glad you are back man" he says
I nod and smile, and he turns, walking down the stairs allowing more guests to come greet me. Surprisingly D' Coolette appears next not looking at me first but looking at her work that was on my body. Her eyes finally meet mine and she hugs me tightly.
"Prince you so wonderful!" She says and I thank her. Her husband comes up as well and bows to me, thanking me for my sacrifices.
"Thank you, sir and your wonderful wife is letting me, celebrate my return with a very nice suit so thanks for supporting her in every way" I say.
D'Coolette eyes glisten in happiness.
"Thank you so much Sonic… but I think I might have some competition from a girl who came in behind us" she says pointing that direction and walking off with her husband.
"No one is better than you D!" I say watching her walk away.
"What dress was she talking about- "
My mouth drops as I watch Knuckles walk in behind two other guests with a girl with black hair and an aqua dress on. The dress was off the shoulder with Toole cascaded down her arms and it connected to her middle finger. The rest of her dress hugged her figure and was sparkly, trailing down to her feet. My eyes meet to hers through her mask and they shinned a bright blue.
"Um, prince Sonic" says an elderly couple in front of me.
A burst of heat comes from me causing multiple guests to look my way and I shake my head.
"My apologizes, I have zoned out because of my bestest friend Knuckles appearing" I lie feeling my face burn in embarrassment.
I hear some laughs in the room as I continue to talk to the elderly about whatever, but I was not really paying attention because of who I saw.
"Yes, thank you guys so much" I say with my leg now shaking in eagerness.
Another couple walks to me and I eye Knuckles and Amelia talk it off pointing at things while laughing.
"Prince Sonic it is so great to see you again" Says a big muscular cat.
"Likewise, Big" I say quickly wanting to get this conversation over with.
"I am thankful that you are back so the now the kingdom will be at rest. Every day at town central I would spread the word of you finally coming back home and protecting us once again. Everyone was worried but I wasn't because I knew that you would come back safe and sound and I am so glad that you did. And of course, you look rather dashing once again, your suit makes you look like a superhero! Which you are of course!"
Big continues to get closer as he talks causing me to feel uncomfortable.
I here Cheyenne step up and motion Big down the stairs.
"Sonic has to do his speech soon after this last guest behind you so please take the time to talk to him after the event" Cheyenne says threathingly and politely in a way.
"Oh… right the Prince is the Prince after all. Good luck on your speech Prince Sonic"
"Thank you Big" I say awkwardly.
He walks off and then Knuckles walks up with Amelia.
Knuckles picks me up and hugs me hard causing me not to breathe.
"Knuc..kles"
"Sonic we are so glad you are back" Knuckles says enthusiastically.
"Tha..nks" I say and Knuckles pulls me closely.
"Don't forget the plan" he whispers secretly.
He drops me on the ground and then steps back introducing his date.
"This here is Fourtie" Knuckles says placing his hands on "Fourties" back pushing her forward to me to introduce herself.
Fourtie courtesy and stands back up nicely.
I stare at her though my mask and I feel butterflies fly through my stomach.
"Welcome back home prince and you look well in your suit! Nice to know that you are doing well." She says naturally smiling at with those pretty white teeth.
"Fourtie works at the flower shop by the bakery in town" Knuckles says introducing her to me.
My eyes trace down to her to body, but I wake myself back up quickly and I respond.
"Nice to meet you Fourtie. Thanks for coming to my celebration" I say offering my hand out for her to take.
She places her hand in mine and bring it to my lips. I feel my heart pound as I kiss her hand. I smell some kind of perfume she has on her hand as her skin comes close to my nose. I move away from her hand and I slowly let it go.
Knuckles takes Fourties hand backing away a bit.
"Good luck with your speech!" Knuckles says heading to his seat with Amelia.
"Thanks" I say lowly as I watch them walk away. I watch Amelia from the back and think about how beautiful she looks.
"She looks so stunning… It's different seeing her what she usually wears but this is a whole different level" I think as this is my first-time seeing Amelia in a dress.
Cheyenne clears his throat causing me to look at him.
"She was something, wasn't she?" he says while crossings his hands behind his back since all the guests were seated and chatting away about the event and me.
"Oh- Yeah she seems nice. I am happy for Knuckles" I say straighten my suit, trying to act natural.
"Well it is time for your speech Sonic. I am sure you will do fine" Cheyenne says opening a handout for me to step up so everyone could see me.
I look at Cheyenne and I remember what I said to him earlier.
"Cheyenne I am sorry about earlier; I didn't mean what I said. I know you are trying to help, so I am sorry" I say standing up.
He smiles at me and brings me in for a hug. I hug him back, knowing that he was the one who always had my back even when times were bad. At least I had someone who tried to protect me and treat me as a human.
"It's alright Sonic, we can talk about this later but for now your people need to hear your voice. Use it wisely and push forward your power in the way you want it to go" he says releasing me and stepping forward.
Cheyenne raises his hand in the air and the starts to get quiet and filled with shushes. He waits until its completely silent and then starts to speak.
"Thank you all for coming to today. Our prince shall share some words about his gratitude of your kind words and welcome's back to the kingdom. Please turn your full attention forward for your Prince. Prince Sonic of the fire kingdom."
Cheyenne moves back giving me the floor space and the room fills with claps. I stand up and I make sure my suit looks great as I step up to speak. I look around at all the faces and they are all smiling and anticipating me to talk. I open my mouth and my voices booms through the room. Like a true prince should sound.
"Good evening loyal citizens… before I begin to express my appreciation for you all showing up today. I like to say a special thanks to the staff who set this up for me. I am eternally grateful for your hard work and I always will be as you continue to support the kingdom. The kingdom holds a very special place in my heart as you all would know since I went out unexpecting to stop an evil man for harming anymore fire benders because you all our all I have" I say looking at everyone.
"Yes, I know some could not make it but spread the word that I am thankful that each and every one of you kept me in your prayers and thoughts every moment while I was gone. It touches my heart to see you all here last minute to celebrate my return. I would not want to celebrate with anyone else other than the citizens of the fire kingdom because like I said you all are all I have." I blink slowly taking a breath from talking.
"After I found out my mother passed… I was totally lost. I woke up in that hospital bed with bandages and many nurses watching me. Flowers filled the room I was in and I was told many visitors wanted to see me but that I could not only see one person a time so many of you came to see me and that is when I truly realized that my soul reason, purpose, every breath I take is for you all to have a peaceful life. Which every day I will continue to give to you all until the world ends. Even when I become king and then the next one before becomes it, I will always make sure the fire kingdom is taking care of and its people are safe." Claps start to form in the ballroom causing me to stop talking and smile at my people. It then dies down and I start to speak again.
"After that day when I heard my mother was no longer here. I promised to protect and serve you all more than a prince but as a friend, mentor, neighbor, all of the above because I want everyone here to live safe lives and that you won't all have to be fear ever again"
I place my hand on my heart and I stand strongly looking at my citizens.
"I am deeply sorry for scaring you all. I promise to be more vocal about situations, so you won't have to go through this again. I know you guys will forgive me because of your heart but I don't want anyone to go through that ever again, I am truly sorry. I am most grateful that you are still by my side today and I promise to keep the fire kingdom safe at all costs. Thank you" I say bowing my head to my people.
An applause starts to fill the room and I smile slightly as they clap for me. Cheers also start to echo as well, and I mouth "Thank you" to everyone. I wait for it to die down and I speak once more.
"Alright now let's celebrate on the recurring protection and peace for the fire kingdom" I say, and the applause starts again.
The music starts up causing the guests to get up and dance and mingle back up and I turn to Cheyenne who is looking at with a teary eye.
"You did great, Sonic" he says proud.
"Thanks" I say proudly.
"Now go enjoy the party" he says.
I nod and I turn around heading down the stairs and the first person I see is my dad. He pulls for a big hug and I hug him back as well.
"Great speech son! It touched all of our hearts" he says.
"Thanks, I really just winged it-" I say.
I get caught off by a Blaze hugging me tightly.
"Sonic! Your speech was so great!" she says letting me go from the hug.
"Did I look nervous" I say, and she shakes her head "no".
"But you did look very handsome in that suit" she says lowly taking my head and pulling me away from my dad.
"You kids have fun!" my dad says letting me be kidnapped by Blaze.
I look at Blaze wondering where she was taking me, and she takes me to the middle of the dancefloor. She grabs both of my hands and the music starts be played louder.
"Come on. Dance with me." she says joining the crowd of dancing people.
"Ah, you know dancing isn't my thing" I say looking around and people are starting to notice I am near them.
"Come just move to the beat" she says while dancing.
I start to move to beat just to get her off my back. She starts to laugh as I join in dancing and I smile a bit too at her happiness. We dance for a full song and then stop once it's over.
"Yo, Sonic" I hear someone says and I turn around to see Knuckles in a nice suit with "Fourtie" be his side.
"Hey Knuckles "Blaze blurts out clinging to my shoulder and pulling me to approach them. Blaze pushes her chest close on my arm as we walk to them.
We stand near and I can feel Amelia eye's looking at me.
"Fuck"
Blaze notices Fourtie and looks back at Knuckles in annoyance.
"Well aren't you going to introduce her to us" she says.
Knuckles rolls his eyes and responds.
"Well Sonic has already met her but since you are so important then I will. This is Fourtie, my date for the night". Knuckles says.
"Nice to meet you Fourtie! Your dress is so gorgeous" Blaze beams.
"Thank you so much, Blaze and it's nice to meet you as well. You look rather beautiful next to the Prince" Fourtie says.
"Thanks love." Blaze says.
"So,are you too dating? Because wow you two look so beautiful together tonight, almost like you guys have been dating forever" Fourtie says.
Knuckles gives me a look and I look around awkwardly knowing that "Fourtie" is probably very angry that Blaze is wrapped around me so hard.
Blaze looks to me and starts to blush.
"Well, Sonic and I have been lovebirds since high school but since he is a prince and all he told me he wants to wait a bit but he always keeps me close to him, isn't that right Sonic" she says looking at me with her gold eyes.
I try to think of what to say without digging myself a deeper hole, but nothing comes to mind.
"Yeah, we have known each other for a while, super close" I say.
Fourtie smiles at us and blinks at me twice through her mask.
"Fuck, I dug myself a deeper hole" I think cursing in my head silently.
"Well me and the lady are going to go get something to snack on, don't want all that food to go to waste" Knuckles says clearing the thick, uncomfortable air.
"Yes, you two have fun… well it already looks like you two are already having a lot fun so enjoy the rest of your night" Fourtie says linking arms with Knuckles, taking the first step and walking away first.
"Thanks" I say softly as I watch her walk away after that comment.
"Wow Knuckles really snagged himself a beauty and also I don't know why I think I have seen her before" Blaze questions putting her fingers on her chin.
I look at Blaze quickly realizing that she is trying to figure out something she doesn't need to find out.
"I can't let her think about who that was" I think
I grab her lower back pulling her close to me catching her off guard and she starts to look deeply into my eyes.
"Come with me to talk to some citizens" I say while making eye contact with her.
"Alright" she says softly.
I grab her hand and we walk more into the crowd and I star associating with the citizens. I talk to them and my eyes trail to Knuckles and Amelia talking over some food.
AMY POV
"Wow this food is great" I say as I eat the steamed vegetables that were seasoned with garlic and shredded parmesan.
"Yeah it is. I love parties here; the chefs always go crazy. Oh! You should try some fire flakes!" Knuckles says offering me some from his plate.
"Fire flakes? I question moving my fork to his plate.
I take some and place it in my mouth. Automatically my mouth starts to feel like it's on fire and my eyes start to glow wide. Knuckles looks at me with a confused expression.
"Are you alright- "I move past Knuckles and I run to the punch bowl.
I search for a cup, but I don't see one. I move my hands over the punch and I almost water bend it to my mouth, but I stop myself mid moment.
"Here is a cup" says a voice and I turn around taking it without saying thank you.
I pour myself some punch and I drink it down quickly. I sigh in relief as my mouth stops burning.
"My my I don't think I have ever seen a fire bender get flustered over some fire flakes" says the voice causing me to turn around and look up.
"Cheyenne hey!" says Knuckles running up to us and he eyes me carefully.
"Good evening Knuckles. Is this your date I saw when you greeted Sonic?" he says while smiling.
"Yes, this is Fourtie and Fourtie this Cheyenne, Sonic's Captain of the royal guard since he was a kid so practically knows Sonic in and out" Knuckle says.
I place the food down in embarrassment and I bow immediately.
"It's such an honor meeting you and thank you for the cup" I say quickly.
"It is an honor meeting you as well, Knuckles here is a fine man so I know you must be a very special woman" he says while laughing.
I laugh with him as well trying to seem as normal as possible, but something isn't sitting right with this guy. Knuckles joins us in laughing and Cheyenne stops slowly and stares at me, looking into my eyes through my mask. I clear my throat at the awkward silence. Knuckles steps in front of me and grabs my hand while pointing to our seats.
"Well we are going to continue to eat our food at our seats. You have fun Cheyenne." He says and grabs my hand squeezing it , pulling me away from him.
"Alright you two enjoy" he says and turns away grabbing himself a plate.
I notice Knuckles walking quickly to our seats and pulls out a chair for me to sit in.
"Thank you" I say as I sit down.
Knuckles says nothing and sits beside me, stuffing his face to max. I look at him confusingly and the music starts to blast louder over the party causing more and more people to get up and dance. I take the time and look around for Sonic to see how his date was going. I clench my hands in my lap as I think about Blaze's body on him so closely.
"I feel so jealous. I know I can't blow my cover but this sucks. Blaze is all on him like they are dating but they aren't right? I really can't tell anymore. Why won't he just tell her he isn't interested and live his life "single". Ugh, this party isn't fun anymore" I think as I sigh softly.
"Why aren't you two dancing" a familiar voice says. I look up at his green eyes through his mask and he looks at me through his. I remember all of the sly comments I made causing me to look away in embarrassment.
"Oh, we are just watching the scene, ya know" Knuckles says looking at Sonic.
Sonic nods and then he looks at me again causing me to look away. I hear Knuckles sigh and he stands up.
"Hey I am going to go get a beer or something, I'll be back" He says.
I try to think of something for him to stay and not leave me alone with Sonic, but nothing comes to mind. Sonic sits down in front of me and I look up to his eyes.
"Are you enjoying the party?" he says causally"
"Not as fun as you are" I say in happy tone hoping he would catch on to my anger.
He chuckles and his green eyes look down to my lips.
"Who said I was having fun" he says back to me amusingly almost breaking code of how we are supposed to really act so I wouldn't get caught.
"That purple cat seems like she is making your time great, so I just guessed" I say looking off into the party looking for Blaze.
"Hm, jealously" Sonic says quietly while smirking as he looks at the napkin on the table.
"Psh, me jealous? I shouldn't be jealous; I am not yours apparently" I say causing him to look at me. His eyes look hungrily causing me to blush a bit.
"Why is he looking at me like that." I think
I feel a small heat coming from him, but it soon stops as Knuckles places four beers in front of Sonic while he holds one in his hand for himself.
"ALRIGHT SONIC TIME TO DRINK UP, CELEBRATION TIME" Knuckle says loudly causing some people to look over at the commotion. Sonic slowly looks away from me and smirks. I blush madly at his smirk then moves to Knuckles face while grabbing a beer.
"Why am I blushing so hard" I think.
"Fine, I'll have one beer" Sonic says, and Knuckles looks at him irritatingly.
"Sonic come on you have to have more than just one! It's your party" Knuckles says and moves to get open the other beers for him. Sonic shakes his head and laughs, he then moves the beer bottle to his mouth and chugs it.
I watch him chug down the beer in confusion on how he could do that and his eyes flicker to mine as he finishes it and places it on the table.I look away quickly again and Knuckles then hands him another and people start to crowd around him. He chugs that one quickly as well.
"Hey! Let's do a toast for my best friend Sonic" Knuckles says out loud causing everyone to grab their glass and some of the maids were walking around making sure to give our small cups of alcohol for everyone. A cup gets placed in front of me and I see that Blaze is the one who offered me it. I smile thank you and I take the cup as well. We wait around until everyone has a glass or cup and the music dies down.
"This toast goes to our Prince, Sonic. Without him I don't know where I would be, and I am grateful to call you a close friend" Knuckles says will talking to Sonic.
"Thanks man" Sonic says smiling at Knuckles while raising his glass.
Everyone else follows Knuckles in the process so I follow as well,
"For Sonic" Knuckles yells clinking his glass with Sonic.
The noises of clinking glasses and cups go through out the room and everyone sips their drink.
I sip some of my drink and I look back to Sonic who is chugging his third beer. He slams it down and everyone cheers causing me to look at everyone confused like.
"Fire kingdom parties are quite usually"
"ALLRIGHT NOW LET'S PARTY" Yells Knuckles causing everyone to cheer back and head back to the dance floor as the music rises.
Knuckles runs into the crowd leaving me at the table with Blaze and Sonic.
Sonic stands up about to go dance and grabs his 4th beer and his eyes catch me and Blaze's.
"Woo! Look at you! Turning it out." Blaze says smiling at him.
"You two should come turn it out with us on the dance floor, come on. I hate dancing so this is only chance to dance with me" Sonic says amusingly.
"Definitely! Fourtie are you coming?" Blaze asks while standing up.
"Uhm." I say thinking if I should dance or not so I wouldn't blow my cover.
"Oh, come on! Let's go live it up a little" she says.
"Okay." I say smiling a bit standing up.
Blaze grabs my hand and I grab my drink as well before I am taken away into the dance floor and Sonic follows behind me in the process The lights cut off and party lights created with a rock ball with holes in it as it spins around letting small flickers of light touch the dancers below, are now appearing making it hard to see anyone on the dance floor but moving bodies. Everyone starts to jump and dance as Blaze continues to squeeze her way deeper in the dance mob. Blaze then stops and turns around, dancing and jumping to the music like everyone else was. I start dancing as well, Blaze gets pulled away by another girl and turns around to dance with her. I continue to dance with the random people while sipping my drink and then I feel a body move closer to my butt. I turn around quickly to see a blue hedgehog and green eyes looking me in amusement through his mask.
"What is he doing he is going to blow our-"
He grabs my hands and starts dancing to the music while pulling me closer to him. I try to dance to until his hands move to my hips causing to look at him the eyes. He moves closer to me leaning down to whisper in my ear.
"No one can see us… its okay" he says as I smell the alcohol in his breath.
I grab his hands and I remove them from hips causing him to stop dancing.
I get on my tippy toes and I whisper in his ear.
"I think you are drunk, and we can't blow our cover" I say.
He looks at me after my comment and nods in agreement, but he still looks at me like he did earlier, like he wants to devour me. He his goes down and he reaches for my hand, but it's is cut off by Knuckles jumping in between us.
"What are you guys thinking" Knuckles says loudly causing me to blush madly. Knuckles looks at the beer in Sonic's hand and takes it from him causing Sonic to pout.
"I think you are done drinking for the night" Knuckles yells.
Suddenly the music stops playing fast upbeat music and it slows down, starting to sound romantic. I look around and I start to see couples dance together. I turn my attention back to Sonic who is looking at me. Knuckles then clears his throat and takes my hand.
"Would you like to dance, Fourtie" he asks.
I look at Sonic once more and I notice that he seems kind of hurt.
"Yes, I would like to dance" I say while not looking at Knuckles.
He pulls me away and brings me away from Knuckles. He places his hand on my back and grabs my hand as I place my hand on his broad shoulder. We swing side to side as the beautiful song continues to get played.
Knuckles spins me around and dips me catching off guard because I didn't know he could dance. I giggle a bit and Knuckles leans into my ear.
"Hey… don't break cover. I know you like him, but we have to remember the plan" Knuckles says.
I blush and nod. We dance more to the song and my eye hits Sonic and Blaze dancing together. Blaze is leaning into Sonic chest and Sonic is holding her close. I clench onto Knuckles shoulder as I feel a pain in my chest. Knuckles looks the way I am looking and then looks back saying something, but I can't hear him because of the loud music.
"They look so happy with each other" I think.
I watch Sonic's hand move down her lower back causing me to stop dancing. Blaze then leans up and places a kiss on his lips causing me to drop my hand from Knuckles shoulder.
"Fourtie!" Knuckles says to me causing me to look at him slowly.
"So, he does like her? Then what am I really to him?" I say looking at Knuckles for answers.
Knuckles says nothing and looks at them again.
"He kissed her… he really did… what am I too him? I feel so… hurt" I think.
I look at Knuckles who is already looking at me.
"Can you take me back. I think I am done" I say and Knuckles sighs.
"Alright, come on" Knuckles says comfortingly.
I take his hand and he pull me from the crowd. I feel a pair of eyes on me, but I continue to look down, avoiding any eye contact.
"Knuckles wait! Are you leaving already?" I hear Blaze say.
I clench Knuckles hand moving closer to his arm.
"Yeah the lady is tired, so I am going to take her back home" Knuckles says.
"Aww alright. Well it was great meeting you Fourtie" Blaze says.
I turn around and she hugs me gently, I hug her back. I turn around quickly before Sonic can say anything to me. Knuckles walks out of the ball room exchanging goodbyes to some members of the castle.
We make it outside, and we walk to the side of the castle in silence. I look up at the moon gleaming above us.
"You okay" Knuckle says quietly as we walk.
I shake my head no as we continue to walk.
"Well, thanks for being my date for the welcome back party. It was fun and we have to do this again sometime… ya know the sneaking around thing." He says happily.
I smile slightly and nod.
We make it to the end of the castle. Knuckles takes his shoes off, leaving them on the pavement and then turns to me offering his arms.
"All aboard" he says causing me to chuckle.
I hop in his arms and he starts to fly in the sky heading towards Sonic's room. The flight there makes my black hair flow in the night air as we land on the window seal of Sonic's room. He opens the window and places me carefully on the floor.
"Okay well I am going to head back. Have a great night" Knuckles says bowing to me.
I walk up to him and I pull him in for a hug. He hugs me back as well and I place a kiss on his cheek causing him to blush a bit.
"Thank you for protecting me Knuckles, once again" I say smiling at him.
"Anytime and you can just leave the dress here. I will come get it later tomorrow" he says and opens the window, jumping out and flying back around to the entrance. I watch him fly away and then I walk slowly to the bathroom. I turn on the light and I start to take off the dress. I put it back in the bag and I zip it closed.
I head to the cabinet and I grab my toothbrush again, brushing the alcoholic taste in my mouth. I stare at myself as I brush my teeth.
"Idiot" I think as I brush my teeth.
I spit and rinse my mouth; I place my toothbrush back and I look around for my clothes I left in here. I find them placed on the floor and I put them back on. I walk out of the bathroom and into the dark, quiet bedroom.
I look around and then I sit on the ledge with the moon light comforting my confused feelings. I look outside studying the castle. Everything was so tidy more than I would imagine as I look out. There are benches, patios, lawn chairs and a beautiful garden in the back. I hear a unlocking from the door of the bedroom causing me to look that way. My heart thumps on who I think it is causing me to stand up and move to the bathroom. I get in the bathroom and the door opens. I peak my head out to see a slightly drunk hedgehog was looking around in confusion.
"Amelia" he whispers quietly closing the door behind him.
I blush and I walk out of the bathroom, making my way to sit in my spot I was in earlier. I don't make eye contact with, but I do continue to look outside to fight the awkward tension.
The silence in the room lasts for 10 seconds until Sonic finally speaks.
"Some party that was" he says.
I don't say anything, but I turn around fully to the window trying to show him that I do not want to speak to him at this moment.
"Amelia, I didn't come on to her. She came on to me" he says blurting out the hole in the wall.
I still say nothing as I look outside causing Sonic to sigh.
"Me and Blaze aren't a thing- "
"Okay, so if you aren't then why were you constantly touching her, and you kissed her" I am looking at him like he is an idiot.
"Because that is what she does all the time! I didn't kiss her, she kissed me and- "
I turn around fully looking at him angrily.
"Then just why not tell her that you don't like her like that" I say with my hands in the air.
"Because I don't want to give anything away. That would be weird if I just didn't "like" her as soon as I got back with doing this mission with you." Sonic says.
"Whatever. I don't think you are understanding anything that I am saying because all the things I had to witness when you knew I was going show up, sucked so I have every reason to be angry at you right now. And DON'T try to give me an apology."
"You aren't understanding me either!" Sonic says
"What is there for you to make me understand after what I saw? You just gave me proof that you still like her in a way which is why you can't let her down! So, this conversation is so pointless right now!" I yell at him.
Sonic looks at me with annoyance and then his eyes light up.
"... So, you just want more proof that I only like you" he says as he bends down taking off his shoes.
"That would be nice but what proof could possibly help after what I saw" I say back irritatingly.
Sonic says nothing and drops his shoes on the floor. The look in his eyes change as he takes off his suit jacket showing off his muscular build under his buttoned up. His eyes go back to how he looked at me at the party. Hungry.
He drops his jacket to the floor and slowly starts to walk to me not taking his eyes from mine. I watch him walk and the way he is walking to me makes me blush a bit as I am not sure on what is to come. He makes it close to me and gets on one knee.
"What are you- "
His warm hands grab my ankle and he bring it up to his lips, he kisses down to my feet causing me to blush and I try to yank my foot back, but he doesn't let go. He looks at me confused as I try to get free from his grip.
"Wha- wh- what are you doing" I say embarrassed at him kissing my feet.
"About to show you proof" he says emotionlessly.
Before I get to say anything else, he pulls me closer from the ledge and starts to kiss my toes. He then places another warm hand on calf and rubs down it slowly causing me to blush even more. He licks my toe causing me to gasp and his eyes meet up with mine. I try to think of the words to say but nothing comes to mind. He licks in between my big toe and my 2nd toe causing me to me to hide my face.
"Why can't I tell him to stop" I think as he kisses the bottom of my feet.
His eyes then move to my shorts causing me to close my legs. He looks at me amused and place my leg down, leaning closer to kiss my thighs. A tingle shoots through my body causing me to put on hands on Sonic shoulders.
"Stop! We can't do this here" I say quietly.
Sonic looks to the door and then look back at me.
"But you don't believe me when I say my feelings for you are real. So, at this moment I don't really care who hears what. You can yell and moan all you want until I prove my point" he says looking me in the eye deeply and passion.
"Besides you pissed me off as well, so now I have to make sure you remember somethings"
