"I wanted to be close to you, without waiting to be ready for more." In realising that complications sometimes lead to something that seems simpler, but is actually more complicated, Rick and Kate have to face their feelings once and for all.

She spends most of her nights with him. He slides out of bed at the crack of dawn to make her coffee while she gets ready. She rewards him with a warm tilt of her lips, only now it's followed by a soft kiss and a murmured "I love you" against his ear.

Contains spoilers for "Always". Inspired by a thought floating around Tumblr: Alexis comes home in the aftermath of events in "Always", and we see how she deals with things as they're unfolding. No beta, again- but I tried my best.

The morning after Kate comes to Castle's apartment after being soaked in the rain.
