The LoudBusters
Ok my loyal readers here's crossover of a different type... This time I've added Ghostbusters to my Loud House story hybrids. But this is based off the Ghostbusters/Ghostbusters 2/Ghostbusters: The Videogame (Realistic version)/Ghostbusters: Afterlife timeline. What if during the stream crossing that defeated Gozer in the first film damaged the dimensional fabric between the Ghostbusters dimension and the Loud House? Sending ghosts in their world. Now Lisa will be the one alongside Liam & Lucy in creating the tech to capture and contain the spooks. Frankly if Elisha Gray and Alexander Bell can both independently create the telephone then Lisa Loud can develop the proton pack equipment. Rated K+ for mild innuendo, a dark tone/plot, scary monsters, or frightening monster descriptions.
- chapter 1 - Crossed Streams
The great city of New York was in utter chaos, the Ghostbusters ceased fire and ran off. Stay Puft was caught in the blast wave, blowing up, too. Massive amounts of marshmallow residue shot out everywhere raining down on civilians. They all ran for cover as the white goopy residue rained down. A firefighter tried to put out some residue on fire with an extinguisher. Walter Peck himself was the victim of a large glob of Stay-Puft marshmallow goop. He screamed up a storm as you'd expect.
Soon the skies over the city cleared. The roof was in ruins. The other dimension was long gone. In fact, the other side of the building was visible through the structure. The Terror Dogs were statues once again. All of the Ghostbusters were slathered in the residue. Breaking open the Terror Dog's stone skin Dana & Louis were rescued safe and sound. "Are you okay?" Ray asked Louis.
Still, he'd no clue who they were. "Who are you guys?"
In a simple matter of fact tone Ray told him. "We're the Ghostbusters."
Instead, Louis looked at them, puzzled. "Who does your taxes?"
Eventually Peter led Dana away. Ray, Egon, and Louis started to walk off. Though Ray was impressed more like fascinated by the events that just transpired. "You know, Mr. Tully, you are a most fortunate individual."
The accountant figured himself lucky just to survive whatever he did just then. "I know."
Still Ray was happy about Louis' encounter with Gozer even mentioning another bizarre event. "You have been a participant in the biggest interdimensional crossrip since the Tunguska blast of 1909."
Still numb over the whole Gozer incident Louis just agreed. "Felt great."
Ever the very bizarre study of science Egon had this request complete with deadpan delivery. "We'd like to get a sample of your brain tissue."
Still dazed and confused from his Gozer possession Louis simply agreed. "Okay."
As the others walked on Winston threw up his hands and cheered. "I love this town! Ha ha!" Happy as he loved New York he clapped catching up to the others.
But... What the four heroes didn't know much less predict was after the streams were crossed it reversed the Gozerian's temple doors. The action ended up weakening the dimensional fabric. Thus, allowing supernatural entities of all sorts to escape to another world. Another dimension in fact, one completely unprepared for the ghastly horrors ready to be unleashed upon it. But one young boy and his friends who always had a plan might just be the one group to save it.
And this is their story...
-begin Hot Night by Laura Branigan
-Royal Woods, Michigan USA
In the small town of Royal Woods, the residence 1216 Franklin Avenue the Loud family's only son Lincoln along with his friends were bored. Despite finishing middle school, the six couldn't think of a single thing to spend their summer break. But all that was far from the six young teens mindsets. They were bored out of their collective skulls; summer had just started, and they'd thought up every possible idea on what to do. Even Lincoln the so-called ''The Man with the Plan'' was stumped. Nobody wanted to swim, ride bikes or even hang out at Gus' Games and Grub.
The six of them were sitting underneath the big tree in Lincoln's backyard. "Ahh dang it I'm bored... " Stella yawned out bored.
"Me too Stellers... " Liam said flicking a flower bud off a stem.
"Geez nothing worth doing around here during the summer.'' Rusty complained too plucking a clover off the grass.
"Yeah. I actually wish Chandler would come back from military school. There would be SOMETHING to do.'' Lincoln agreed.
"Yeah, ever since yer sis built those farming robots haven't had much to do on the farm lately.'' Liam added.
"Maybe the library can help. Maybe we can think up a new hobby there. Books might be full of ideas.'' Stella suggested.
Then suddenly the group were jolted by a loud booming sound only a few blocks from them, high in the skies. A large bolt of lightning tore its way through the calm air. That puzzled the youths, there wasn't supposed to be a storm today. "Huh that's weird. They using dynamite or something?" Zach finally said, making quick glances at his friends. "Wasn't supposed to be a thunderstorm today."
Despite looking like a lightning bolt with no incoming storm, the sky on the bolt's opposing side looked red like kind of creepy game level. But as fast as the weirdo flash appeared it vanished without a single trace. But... A small ball of gas managed to slip through the hole. The wispy orb of gas floated around the group then took off deep into town.
Turning to his pals Rusty finally spoke up. "Did you guys all see what I just saw? That orb thingy just went towards the library.'' Rusty said.
"Guys let's follow it. Got nothing better to do." Lincoln suggested as he took off on his bike after the thing.
Shrugging his friends took chase after him, following his lead. After a decent ride they arrived at the library. The gaseous orb then hovered around the basement door, then passed through them. "Well to me looks likes it went into the basement. Lots of limited-edition novels were recently sent down there.'' Clyde recalled from a newspaper article.
Since it vanished into the basement, there wasn't any way for the group to catch it, Rusty gulped. "Huh. Well, it... it's gone now. Let's go home guys.'' Rusty complained cycling along, ready to walk back home.
Riding up next to him and smacking his taller redheaded friend upside the head Zach was disappointed by Rusty's slacker attitude. He'd been whining all day for something exciting to turn up and now he wanted to head home? The heck? "Dude! You were the biggest one here complaining there wasn't anything to do today, remember? Quit dragging yer butt. Let's go look inside.''
-and soon
Soon the group parked their bikes at the library, hoping to find whatever it was snuck into the basement. Things down there were quiet... too quiet. The mood was tense. So much even the tiniest sound was liable to make the kids jump halfway out of the skins.
Slowly Lincoln led the way down the stairs to the basement stacks first with Clyde by his side, then Liam, then Stella who took out her cellphone. Zach was close behind him also phone in hand. The whole group was serious and focused. Rusty came down last eyes rolling, lacking any interest in this whole thing. He started to make scary hand gestures at Zach, who simply glared at him. They found an incredibly tall stack of books in an aisle a few feet from them.
"Look over there fellas." Liam said pointing at them.
Fiddling with his glasses Clyde swept a few glances around the stack. "This is big, Zach."
Surprisingly Zach recognized the strange stacking of books. "Weird. This is... Symmetrical book-stacking. Just like what happens in that haunted village Pluckley in England."
The fact a British town was haunted gave Lincoln chills; he knew Luna & Lucy would love the place. Well Lucy would enjoy the activity as the rocker would just enjoy the culture.
Frankly though Rusty was not impressed by all this spooky nonsense. "You're right Zach. Completely right, people can't possibly stack a bunch of books like this here."
Suddenly Stella turned to shush him. "Shut it! If something's really here we don't want to startle it away. We gotta shut our traps. In other words, be quiet."
Being the ever-royal smart alec the redhead gave Stella a military salute. "Yes ma'am. Spook the spook away. Heheheh... " Rusty chuckled at the idea.
"Will you dry up? Seriously.'' Liam said scowling.
As they walked alongside green wood bookcase creaked. Suddenly falling down face first behind them onto the floor, missing them all by a hair! Rusty yelped and hopped back a little. They all stared at the bookcase. As the dust kicked up in the air, Rusty calmly looked to Clyde. "This happen to any of you guys before?" Rusty asked ever so casually.
"First?" Rusty asked Lincoln and Clyde both nodding 'yes'. He glanced at Stella who also nodded. "Thought so... " He smirked as everybody glared at him.
Scowling Zach slowly nodded another 'yes' and they continued on. They emerged from the aisle and went down the next aisle. The shorter redhead held out his hand to the others to stop. He stepped out of the aisle, looked around to his left then turned right, and his jaw dropped in surprise at what he saw. The orb from before was now some sort of ghostly woman. But a very slender attractive librarian. The kind who looks better in glasses than without. She was looking at the limited-edition novel rack.
Instantly Rusty knew exactly who the ghost was, Ruth Olivette. A very famous model (and dead) who was first discovered at this very library. Even after her modeling career brought her fame & money, she still came back to Royal Woods donating hundreds to the library. The place of her big break. Eventually age got the better of her, passing away while trying to take a quick nap.
"I don't believe it you guys. It's a ghost. A full torso apparition and it's really here in the library.'' Clyde whispered.
"Not only that but that's Ruth Olivette, a super famous model. And uh guys just one question? Now what do we do?" Rusty asked them not having the foggiest idea what to do next.
Quickly Clyde took out a notepad and started jotting down notes. Annoyed Rusty smacked it right out of his hands. "Cut it out!" The notes end up scattering all over the floor.
"Ok guys now we've found a spook. What do we do now? Do a dance? Tell a story? Take it on date?" Rusty sarcastically asked them all.
"We've gotta make contact somehow. One of us should actually try talking to it. I think that's a start." Zach suggested.
"Great idea. Let's go for it." Lincoln said.
The whole group looked to Rusty, who glared at them over the silent vote. He walked out of the aisle. Quickly Liam and Clyde followed and quickly snapped photographs with their cellphones. "Alright let the ladies' man show you guys how it's done.'' Rusty huffed to them walking to the spook. "Uh hey there. Name's Rusty Spokes. But call me Rusty all my friends do. What's your name? Where ya from? I mean originally hotstuff?'' Rusty told her, despite knowing full well who she was.
The lady phantom simply shushed him to be quiet. "Shush.'' It shushed Rusty, he scowled at his pals.
Sulking back to the group they couldn't contain themselves on how spectacular Rusty's fail was. "Real slick there Rusty. Open mouth insert foot.'' Zach joked.
To that Rusty again glared at him, figuring no one had any better ideas left. But then Zach spoke up. "Ok guys I got an idea. Just follow along.'' Zach told them to follow his lead. "Stay close."
Slowly the other followed closely behind Zach as he readied his plan. "LET"S GET HER!" Zach yelled out lunging at her.
"ARRRROOOOOOGHHHH!" The spook then reared up roaring bloody murder at the six youths.
"AHHHHHHHH!" They all screamed at once in terror and ran out of there like their pants were on fire.
-shortly
After the group had tired out, they plopped themselves down at a nearby grassy side of the street, they rested and finally began to process just what happened just then. "Holy shamoley! THAT was scary guys." Zach said falling to his knees.
"Got that one right Zach... I'm still shaking." Clyde admitted his knees still shaking.
"Well, we can't say there wasn't anything cool going in town now. Right?'' Stella pointed out. That comment made the boys just glare at her, with a few scowls thrown in for good measure. "But uh I was kinda fuzzy on how that was supposed to work. Get her?'' Stella sassed him.
"Yeah, Zach real scientific.'' Clyde complained.
"I dunno I guess I kinda got excited... But we all saw a ghost. How cool was that?'' Zach pointed out.
"I bet it'd be swell if you'd make a career outta catching 'em. Wonder how much those science guys would pay for one?'' Liam said offhandedly.
But the mentioning of being paid to catch ghosts got Clyde's mind brainstorming. Sure, Hunter Spector truly believed in the supernatural, but time and money constraints meant he'd faked a lot of it. And he hated doing that, but Lincoln recalled some research the spook investigator had been doing. "Y'know Mr. Spectre's been mentioning some theoretical research about capturing a ghost and studying it permanently. I mean in theory. In his containment devices their ectoplasm disintegrates. Maybe Lisa could take a look at his notes and build something better?'' Clyde pointed out.
"Except Lisa doesn't believe in the supernatural. She hates ARGGH! and still doesn't believe Lori about Shanks Bogey at her college." Lincoln said shooting the idea down. But his face softened.
He did have a little idea on how to get the little genius on board the train to spook central. "But I know just the way to do it. I'll tell her she's too cowardly to build it. It'd be too challenging for her. She's too competitive in science to say no.''
-Loud residence
The group headed back to Lincoln's place and went about requesting the currently seven-year-old Lisa's assistance. Naturally she and Darcy were busy creating some homemade putty. She figured as long she was a science genius; she'd make it fun for Darcy. "Hmm? A ghost at the library? Elder brother just how foolish do you believe me to be? Enough to fathom imaginary tales of the supernatural? I will not construct equipment to help you pursue your fool's quest.'' The young genius declined having anything to do with him & friends' inane gobbledygook.
"Yeah, ghosts are scary in movies but not real.'' Darcy chimed in stretching her fresh putty.
"Feh... Says you." Stella grumbled pointing at the young brainac.
"Dang it... " Both Zach and Rusty muttered.
The only boy in the family figured Lisa would say that kind of thing. Time to really push her proverbial buttons Lincoln thought. "Well, if you can't do it ya can't do it Lisa.'' Lincoln said cheerfully mocking her.
That remark did it, she immediately perked up eyeing the group of friends. "You doubt my scientific know-how on building advanced hardware?'' Lisa said glaring at the group.
"No offense Lisa but yeah.'' Clyde said.
"Yup.'' Liam agreed.
Even Stella added to the goofy mockery. "True that.''
That did it, Lisa was now glaring daggers & scowling at the group. One bad pet peeve of hers, was never to mock her scientific capability. "Fine. If you obtain significant data on this ''entity'' from the library I will construct your necessary equipment. But only once you've done so and not before. C'mon Darcy our next project will be a viscous play liquid. Street name: Slime.'' Lisa said going up the stairs.
"Yay slime!'' Darcy cheered chasing after her.
Seeing how easy it was to convince Lisa Lincoln's friends were stunned. "Like I said nothing to it when you know how to push the proverbial pet peeves. I'm just that good at convincing."
And thus, the teens quickly got ready for their return to the library stacks, something Rusty was dreading. Meanwhile though the friends didn't know it at the time, but they'd been watched. By Lucy, she'd been hiding inside the fireplace, upwards into the chimney shaft. "A ghost? At the library? Hmm... yes, yes indeed.'' Lucy rubbing her chin in thought happening to overhear what the six were talking about with Lisa.
Normally she'd pop up without warning spooking those around, this time aged eleven the family poet was going to find out what all this was really about. One way or the other Lucy Loud would find out. Were ghost reports really popping up all over the town? She'd soon find out, she'd a meeting with Haiku and Rocky in about an hour. See what they thought about it. For now, she'd keep silent.
-to be continued
Now first off, I didn't plan for this fic to take a lot from Ghostbusters: Afterlife. But the undertones are there though. Also, this is set during the summer vacation after Lincoln's circle of friends finish 8th grade. First few chapters will be the gang starting things up: building the equipment, getting a vehicle, tools, containment unit. Then the first big job comes in at Royal Woods Spa. Yes, there will be sliming. Lots of sliming. Know that the ghosts can and will be sliming people. No firehouse though, but they'll be using some random unused bunker Lisa built sometime. As for ghosts? Many will be from the two-cartoon series, the games, and even the IDW Comics. A few will be original creatures from my own mind.
I hope you'll enjoy this story so please review it. Please read and review this and my other stories which range from: Yokohama Night Monsters, Power Rangers Dimension Legends, Loud House: Rise of Akira, ELG The Series, EL Digital Saviors, Cybertronian Invasion, Loud House Build Fighters, and Maverick Hunter KLN to satisfy your craving for bizarre crossovers. This is the bit where I mention saying good night, folks and take care this has been writer TURP signing off for the night. I hope you enjoy this new crazy story.
