The Key Wish
Chapter 1: The Abyss
The Darkness…
The Fog…
The Void…
A pair of blue eyes awaken from slumber to find themselves surrounded by a dark endless void covered in fog. The owner of these eyes look to the ground in both amazement and fear for not only do they see that they are not on any solid ground but the void in which surrounds her still, but they are neither falling down or rising up, almost as if they were on a solid platform. Believing they are in no harm, the eyes examine the body of the person they belong to for signs of any physical injuries. The body in question appears to be that resembling a young female teenager, perhaps around the age of fourteen to fifteen years old. Black hair hangs over her head reaching to just below the back of her neck. The only clothes she appears to be wearing are a black coat with two silver drawstrings and beads hanging from the end, two black gloves, and two black heeled boots.
She was unharmed despite what had happened moments before she had arrived in this empty black abyss, the moments that became the worst moment of her "life". This girl was a replica created by a group of incomplete people that go by the name of "Organization XIII", to use for their own malicious deeds. What they did not count on was for this replica to gain an identity of its own, having its own appearance, its own hopes, its own friends. But by realizing the dangers her existence will bring, she had forced her best friend, a teenage boy by the name of "Roxas", in a life-or-death battle with the purpose of absorbing him completely should she win or by ending her own existence should she lose for the revival of the Hero Of Light, Sora.
Recalling the events and choices that led up to this moment, she raises her hand, clenching it into a fist, and holds directly over where the heart would be, shutting her eyes. She uttered a single word that was the only proof that her life had existed.
?: "...Xion…"
The young replica, called Xion, opens her eyes and begins to walk forward, with no set destination in mind, only the idea to walk…walk…walk. After what felt like several minutes she stops walking and continues to look around for anything beyond the void, beyond the fog.
Xion: "Hello? Is anyone there?" She yells out. "Naminé? Riku?...Sora?"
A deafening wave of silence is all she hears and the wave of fog continues to move forward with no end in sight, much like Xion mere moments ago. She looked down on the ground and sighed in sadness. She knew the price for returning to Sora to restore his memories, but she never expected this amount of loneliness. She sat down, hugged her knees, and shut her eyes once again.
Xion: "Why did things have to happen this way? I know that it had to end this way, but still…" She thought to herself. "All I really wanted was to spend every day with my best friends. But, now I'll never get to see them again."
?: "That's how fate operates."
Startled by the unexpected voice, Xion quickly opened her eyes and stood up trying to find the source of the voice.
Xion: "Who's there?! Show yourself!" Xion demanded with a hint of fear as she looked all around trying to find anybody else lurking in the void.
?: "Now now, let's not get upset. I will show myself peacefully, so please do not get so riled up."
As the mysterious voice finished its sentence, the fog began to twist and turn, swirling into a single point, creating a tornado-like vortex of fog. The fog then dispersed all around Xion as if a bomb went off and no longer did she see just the void, but also sparks and glimmers of light, creating something close to the night sky. It looked so believable that even a few specks of lights shot through the "sky" as if they were shooting stars. Understandably, Xion was taken aback by the sudden change of scenery and was both confused and amazed.
Xion: "Wow…" Xion said while still almost at a loss for words.
?: "It is beautiful, isn't it?"The voice said, closer than before.
Xion quickly turns around and finds a humanoid shape of pure light, almost giving off the appearance of a woman but with no face or any distinguishable features of any kind, surrounded by a thick but sharp aura of darkness. Xion was taken aback by the stranger's appearance and once again finds herself at a loss for words. She continued to stare at the stranger in awe until the mystery woman spoke up.
?: "But a beautiful creation like this is not so easily witnessed. Only ever seen by few people in even longer years. It is as I said before, that is how fate operates. Mysterious, yet cruel."The stranger said wisely yet with a hint of sadness in their voice.
Xion, who finally snapped out of her bewilderment, moved closer to the stranger while also keeping enough of her guard up to hopefully avoid an attempt this stranger may make on Xion's life.
Xion: "Who are you and where am I?" Xion asked with both uncertainty and curiosity.
?:"My dear, the question is not who we are, but what we are." The stranger replies cryptically.
Xion was a little annoyed with her vague answer. The truth is she did not know what this stranger was or what powers they hold to be able to turn a void into a starry night, thus she was always cautious of those with incredible power such as the stranger's, while her own power was severely drained away after her battle with Roxas. Xion had no chance of winning or surviving a fight with this stranger, and Xion knew that fully well.
Xion: "Please, I don't have the patience for riddles. Just tell me who you are, or at least what you are!" Xion asked in an almost demanding tone.
?:"I am unable to answer the question of who I am, because I am not my own unique individual. I merely am an existence, created from a great and wonderful power, to act as a guide to those who fall into the abyss of oblivion. That is what I am." The stranger replies with honesty.
Xion's eyes widened with shock at her answer, though not so much of who this stranger was, but where they were.
Xion: "Abyss Of…Oblivion?" Xion asks with worry in her voice.
?: "Yes. It is as the name suggests, this void is the place where all those whose existence comes to an abrupt end before their proper time is reached. But with you, you are a very unique case." The stranger replied. You are not like the people who have come here before you. In fact, you are not even fully human, aren't you?"
Xion while still worried, had enough observation skill to notice that this stranger not only knew of Xion's situation, but of what Xion was. How exactly did this stranger know that she was a replica? This kind of perception and awareness, Xion's chance of standing against this stranger just went farther down. Realizing this, Xion knew that lying would most likely be pointless as this stranger would undoubtedly see right through her, leaving only one option.
Xion: I'm…not a human. I'm a replica created by a group of Nobodies called "Organization XIII." Xion says honestly.
?: "Is that all that you are?" The stranger asks.
Xion: "Huh?" she asks in confusion.
?: "Is that all that you are, little one? Just a toy created to carry out the orders of her masters?" The stranger replies.
Xion was beginning to get upset. They had only met for a short time and already she had begun to criticize her?
Xion: "What's that supposed to mean?! You know, I am so tired of everyone looking down on me and calling me a "puppet", "flaw", and a mistake! You don't know who I am or the things I've done!" Xion shouted.
?: "Then tell me, toy. Who or what are you if not a toy?" The stranger asks, sticking her hand up to what would be her cheek.
Xion was on the verge of lashing out at the stranger for her taunting, but knows full well that if she attacks, she will not survive, so using what sense of reason she has left, she calmed herself and began to look back at the memories she's made until now.
Xion: "I am number XIV of Organization XIII. I am a wielder of the keyblade. I am a girl who has had everything ripped away from her for the sake of someone else. I am also someone who no longer exists in the memories of all that I have met. But more importantly, I am someone who was extremely lucky to have two of the most wonderful friends a replica-no, a girl like me could ever hope for! My name is Xion, and I am not a sham, not a toy, nor am I a mistake! I am me, nothing else!" Xion yells with determination and frustration.
?: "Well then, Xion, that was quite the beautiful answer. A little lengthy, but beautiful nonetheless." The Stranger says with a tone that led Xion to believe that if the stranger had a mouth, she would be smiling.
?: "Now tell me, Xion. What is it that you're so afraid of?" She asks intriguingly.
Xion, being thrown off from her anger, sat there in confusion. What was the point in all these questions and why was she so interested in Xion. She knows the stranger said that her being there was unique compared to others but-...At that moment, the metaphorical gears in Xion's head began to turn. If there were others, wouldn't Xion have seen at least one by now and remembering back to what this stranger said earlier "I merely am an existence, created from a great and wonderful power, to act as a guide to those who fall into the abyss of oblivion. That is what I am.", was this stranger giving Xion an opportunity to escape from this void? Noticing the stranger was still waiting for an answer, Xion looked deep inside and gave a response.
Xion: "Losing all the memories and the friends I've made in my life." She replies honestly.
?: "What is the one thing you care about more than anything else?" The stranger replies almost as if not acknowledging Xion's previous answer.
Xion sat in silence thinking of her true, honest answer, but of course the answer was all too simple for her.
Xion: "My best friends. Roxas & Axel…they mean everything to me. Which is why it was so painful to leave them the way that I did." She replies honestly, yet with an obvious soreness in her throat.
?: "Xion, what do you wish for?" The stranger asks in a tone that lets Xion know it was the last question, at least for a while.
Xion: "I…" Xion begins. What would she wish for? To be brought back, only to know that nobody; not her friends, not her enemies, no one remembers her? Would she wish that everyone did remember her, only to know that it would cause more suffering to her friends knowing they could never be reunited again. This was so hard for the girl to think about. To be free, to be remembered. After a long moment of silence, she chose an answer she knows she can be happy with. "I wish that my best friends, Roxas & Axel, will be safe without me. I want them to live their happiest lives knowing that they're ok. I know Roxas and Axel will have to go away in the end, but until then…I want them to be safe and happy." Xion replies, ending with a smile followed by a tone tear streaming down her eye.
?: "Once again, a lengthy but beautiful answer Xion." The stranger says, once again in a tone that makes Xion believe she is smiling.
In an instant, a large flash of light appeared below Xion and the stranger, causing Xion to shut her eyes while covering them with both her arms to ensure she does not go blind. After the light fades, Xion uncovers her eyes and begins to slowly open them, revealing an extremely large silver stain glass platform. Surrounding the platform were various Nobody emblems while surrounding a layout of Where Nothing Gathers. Right above, shows a large ring with a portrait of Xion sitting down as if on a comforting ledge slightly holding her head with her right hand. Around her portraits were four similar portraits of select individuals, three that she knew very well as Saix, Xemnas, and Xemnas. As for the fourth, was a portrait of the boy she inevitably returned to; Sora.
Xion: "What…What is this?" Xion asks in astonishment.
?: "That my dear, is what has been known as the "Dive To The Heart" or "The Station Of Awakening" as others have called it. Some even believe it as the physical manifestation of their hearts, and this one, Xion, is yours." The stranger answers.
Xion: "But…But I shouldn't have a heart." Xion says with disbelief.
?: "My dear, even a hollow puppet can be given a heart, or can even grow one itself. The feelings you felt, the memories you hold, the friends you cherish, all are signs of a growing heart deep inside. All it takes is for one to nurture it. After all; hearts are a great source of untapped power." The Stranger replies.
Xion stood there once again at a loss for words, instead stood in awe and simply stared at her Station Of Awakening with a small smile. After all this time of trying to complete Kingdom Hearts to gain a heart for herself, here she was growing one for herself just by being around her friends everyday in happiness.
?: "There is still so much for you to do, Xion. Yet so little time, but please take your time, Xion. Please step forward." The stranger said.
Xion, while still keeping her guard up, proceeds to walk closer to the stranger as instructed. Seeing the stranger as not a threat, Xion knew that while she could trust her a little, it didn't mean she couldn't keep her caution. As Xion stops in front of the stranger, the stranger lifts her arms up into the air and if on cue, three pedestals begin to rise up from the station of awakening.
?: "Power still sleeps within you…" The stranger begins to say.
The pedestal on her left, now contained a red and black shield with an emblem of what appeared to be a mouse head on the front.
?: "If you give it form…"
On cue, the second pedestal to her right now held a green staff with a blue crystal in the shape of the same mouse head on top of it appeared above the pedestal.
?: "It will give you strength." The stranger concludes.
Finally on the pedestal behind her, appeared a sword with a golden pommel and a blue grip. Along the hilt was once again that same mouse symbol. Xion was beginning to see a theme here but decided to keep it to herself.
?: "Choose wisely." The stranger said.
Xion looks at all three weapons, deciding which one to choose. She walks up and examines each one, thinking of which weapon would best suit her, or at the very least, one which she needs to improve on. With that thought, she moves toward her desired option and picks up the weapon.
?: "The power of the warrior. Invincible courage. A sword of terrible destruction. You choose this power?" The stranger asks.
Xion gives a nod, she knew that if she were to return home, she would need to be a lot stronger to take down her enemies just in case the Organization was still around and up to no good. The sword disappears in a flash of light from her hands, surprising Xion in the process as she wasn't expecting that.
?: "Your path is set. Now what will you give up in exchange?" The stranger asks.
Xion once again examines the remaining two options in deep thought. She begins to walk up to the staff knowing that while her magic would be weaker, she could still use them as distractions because she needs as much defense as she could. She holds up the staff and begins to hear the stranger once more behind her.
?: "The power of the mystic. Inner Strength. A staff of wonder and ruin. You give up this power?" The stranger asks, once again receiving a nod from Xion. "Your path is set." Like the sword, the staff also disappears in a flash of light, not surprising Xion as much this time. "You choose the power of the warrior, you give up the power of the mystic. Is this the form you choose?" She asks once more only to receive another nod from Xion. With a flick of her wrist, the three pedestals begin to sink back into Xion's Station Of Awakening, making Xion back away from the sinking pedestal. Xion turns to face the stranger once more asking the obvious question that anyone would ask in this moment.
Xion: "Why are you asking me these questions? Are you preparing me for something?" She asks.
?: "Was there ever a moment in your life where you were able to wield the weapon by the name of "The Keyblade"? The stranger asks.
Xion: "Well, I'm not sure anymore." She says in sadness. Xion attempts to summon her keyblade, but due to returning to Sora, she finds herself unable to anymore. Xion sighs but continues her answer. "I suppose since I was a replica, I guess my keyblade was an imitation too. So I guess, I never really did have a keyblade of my own."
The stranger begins to float towards Xion, causing Xion to take a few steps backwards.
?: "My question was not "whether or not your keyblade was real or not". My question was "were you able to wield a keyblade before?" the stranger asks once again.
Xion was lost in thought, she could not remember any moment where she truly did carry a keyblade besides the one she has always worked with. It was then that the young replica remembered that she did indeed wield a keyblade. During the day Roxas gave her his keyblade till she could remember how to summon her own, an act she would always be grateful for.
Xion: "...yes. Yes I did wield a keyblade at one point in my life. I was unable to summon my previous keyblade for a long time, so he gave me his to use for a full mission. It was then I could summon my previous keyblade." Xion replies. Xion proceeded to make a small giggle of the following day's memory. "I remember the next day, I was so happy to have that keyblade again, I started to wave it around like a victory flag. Much to the amusement and annoyance of some of the other organization members." Xion said.
?: "Hmm, sounds like a good memory indeed." The stranger replies with a small chuckle.
Xion: "But, that still doesn't answer my question from before. Why all the questions and having me decide what to choose and what to exchange?" Xion asks once more.
?: "The truth is, I wanted to see if you are worthy enough to wield a keyblade of your very own." The stranger answers.
Xion: "It's a nice thought, but I don't think it would matter if I wielded a keyblade or not. I'm stuck here in the Abyss, aren't I?" Xion asks. She knows full well that having a keyblade here would be pointless, so she needed to confirm if her previous deduction was accurate or not.
?: "Indeed, having a keyblade in this beautiful empty space would be pointless. Therefore, I may know of another area where it could be best suited." The stranger says.
Xion: "Wait, does that mean…does that mean I get to go back home?!" Xion asks hopefully. The stranger however shook her head, making Xion's head lower soon after.
?: "Well…it's not impossible for me to return you to The Realm Of Light, I am afraid now is not the best time to do so." The stranger says.
Xion: "What do you mean?" Xion asks.
?: "You see, after your battle with your dear friend, nearly all the power you once had, is no longer there. If I were to send you into The Realm Of Light once more, there would be nothing to stop you from being destroyed as easily as the wind carries a lone leaf."The stranger replies.
Xion: "So what should I do?" Xion asks half-heartedly.
?: "In order for you to return to The Realm Of Light, strong enough to withstand the darkness, you will need to become stronger. Stronger than you have before, but not through means of absorbing the power of your friends, but through your own strength." The stranger replies.
Xion: "So, how do I do that? The only way I can think of getting stronger, is by the training Roxas mentioned when he was in one of the worlds…what was it called again? Olympus Coliseum? But you already said I couldn't go back to The Realm Of Light." Xion said.
?: "If you had let me finish what I was saying young one, I would tell you that I know of a place where one can grow stronger through strength and will alone. With that kind of growth, not only will your heart get stronger, but your body and soul will too. Strong enough to withstand the forces of darkness and the organization should you ever return to The Realm Of Light."The stranger explains.
Xion: "A place like that exists? But wouldn't the organization know about a place like that? It would make the Heartless so much stronger and there would be no shortage of Nobodies." Xion said a little worried.
?: "This world is out of reach of both the Nobodies & the Heartless. Much like how they cannot enter the Realm Of Sleep. There will be no need to worry about them in the world I will send you to." The stranger said assuringly.
Xion: "The Realm Of Sleep?" Xion asks. Understandably, this threw Xion for a loop since the only realms she was aware of were The Realm Of Light, The Realm Of Darkness, and The Realm Between. To find out that more realms existed began to interest Xion more and more. Perhaps there was more than even the organization knew, and now she might have the chance to be the first of The Realm Of Light to experience such a thing. This line of thinking caused Xion to smile in anticipation.
?: "Excited are we? Well try to hold onto that feeling while you can, for the task ahead of you will not be easy, for it is not The Realm Of Sleep that you will be traveling to."The stranger said.
The stranger raises her arms and suddenly the stars seem to fly in a single direction with incredible speed, almost as if the stars were going in one direction, or Xion was traveling to another location away from the stars. In amazement, she couldn't help but stare at the stars as they flew as fast as shooting stars with a large smile on her face. Shortly after, they arrive at a large blue sphere with large specks of green and white surrounding multiple areas of the blue sphere.
?: "This is the world I will be sending you to, Xion. It is a lively world where the inhabitants are not all that powerful compared to the organization, but their untapped power and potential inside is incredible. They use a form of power called "ki", which is also known as their "latent energy" or "fighting power", some even call it their "life force". They use this power for a multitude of reasons. For example, the simple act of flying or for the most devastating of attacks. It can be used for good or evil, depending on the wielder of ki and their ambitions. In that sense, I suppose ki is not all that different from the power of light or darkness. They are polar opposites, yet they exist side by side trying to overthrow the other." The stranger explains.
Xion: So what is this world? It looks so much different from the worlds that I've been to. Usually in a world like "Twilight Town", there is usually some section of the town or area sticking out to show the general idea of the land, though it is much larger than one thinks. But here, it's just a giant blue ball." Xion asks.
?: "As I've said before, this realm is different from the ones you're used to, thus the shape of each world in this realm will not be depicted as the ones you know already. Another note to share, the inhabitants do call these areas "worlds" as well, they more commonly refer to them as "planets". However, while you are there, much like back in The Realm Of Light, you must not let on the fact that you are from another world or another realm. They will most likely not believe you even if you were to show them your powers and you may be locked away or hunted down by the inhabitants. While they are not the mightiest, their curiosity is dangerous to mess with." The stranger said. "This planet in particular of untapped power, is called "Earth", it is one of endless planets in what I call "The Realm Beyond". The stranger continued.
Xion: "The Realm Beyond…" Xion repeats in amazement. "So where do I begin? If this world is anything like the others, it could be quite large and I don't know where to even start." Xion said
?: "Once you are there, your objective is to find a young man considered to be this world's champion. If you ask him to train you, I have no doubt in my mind that he will happily accommodate you, Xion. This man in question loves the thrill of a good battle, thus making him a wonderful teacher. He is also pure of heart so it will also be very hard to miss him, in fact if keyblades existed in this world, he would be a wonderful candidate for such a blade. That will be your starting point, find this champion and ask him to train you to become stronger." The stranger replies.
Xion: "What's this champion's name?" Xion asks.
?: "I could tell you that, but instead I believe I will give you a challenge of finding him without a name." The stranger said. Xion looked to her like she was about to object. "The organization often sent your friend Roxas on scouting missions, this led to him memorizing and discovering things not only for himself but for your organization as well. Think of this as a scouting mission to get a lay of the land and a feel for the world." The stranger says.
Xion: "This search would be a lot easier if I had a name to go on! I could be searching forever before I could even have a chance to get stronger!" Xion says with worry.
?: "Do not worry, Xion. I will send you close to the area where he lives. He often travels around the land for supplies for himself and his family, you will be sure to encounter him. Do not think lightly of yourself, your senses of observation are sharp, how else would you have known I was going to help you leave this place?" The stranger replies.
Xion: "I guess you're right on that." Xion lowered her head and crossed her arms, still unhappy for her having to scour the world for one man. Xion almost immediately widened her eyes and gasped in shock. "Wait, you knew what I was thinking the whole time?" Xion asks in disbelief, having the stranger let out a small chuckle.
?: "Child, you are not the first to try and pry information out of me, and I assure you, you will not be the last. But yes, I knew what you were thinking in a sense. I cannot read your mind, but I have had years of experience to spot someone with keen observation such as you. Now then, continue on with your mission." The stranger said. "I will give you two more pieces of info to go on to search for. First, this champion in question wears an orange outfit with a blue belt, it is an outfit of the school where he learned his martial arts. Second, if you cannot find this individual right away, look for a young boy with a monkey-like tail. He is a very shy child, but he will lead you directly to the champion almost right away." The stranger explained.
Xion: "Look for the orange champion, or a tailed boy…ok, I understand. Find either one of them, ask the man to train me to get stronger. How long will this training go for?" Xion asks.
?: "I am unsure of an exact time of when you will be strong enough to handle both the darkness and the organization. In fact, this training could take months and strengthening your heart could take longer." The stranger replies.
Xion: "What?! But I don't have that kind of time!" Xion yells. "I mean, I know Roxas has to return to Sora eventually, but something bad could happen to Axel and I don't want to lose him too." She continues.
?: "Xion, if your friends were to go away, there will be another time for which they can return to The Realm Of Light." The stranger said. This piece of info not only caused Xion to look at her in surprise but also gave her a small relief. "However, if you want them to return with no trouble or complications to stop you, I'm afraid the process will take time to grow strong enough. But I believe that this info will give you something to strive for, a goal to set, a dream for the future." The stranger said.
Xion: "It does…I'm sorry for yelling earlier, I was just worried for my friends." Xion apologizes. The stranger responds first by merely waving her hand as if saying she need not worry.
?: "I understand fully, if roles were reversed, I would be worried for them as well. But seeing as this is your journey and not mine, you must be the one to complete it in as long or as quick as you like. The journey ahead will be long and perilous but it could all be worthwhile in the end for when your friends once again see not only you, but how powerful you have become in the process." The stranger said, causing Xion to grow a large smile at the thought of her seeing her beloved friends again. "Now then, Xion, are you ready to go to Earth, find the champion, and train under him to get stronger for your friends?" The stranger asks. Without hesitation, Xion shakes her head in determination while forming two fists in anticipation.
Xion: "I'm ready! Ready to find this man and get stronger so I can not only get back, but protect my friends!" Xion answers.
?: "Before I send you to Earth, I have a present for you."The stranger says. Xion tilts her head in confusion as to what this present could be. The stranger raises her hand and immediately a blinding light shines in front of her hand, causing Xion to shut her eyes. When she opens them, she is shocked to find what she finds floating in front of her. She sees a sword like weapon, the handle is black with both ends capped with white. The guard is alternating light and dark gray, with the edges at the bottom tipped with black circles and a black crescent moon in the center, and the edges on the top capped with black stars. The base of the blade is light gray with black. The blade is black with gray stars of varying sizes, and the teeth are similar to a familiar weapon that she knows all too well.
Xion: "Is…is this?" Xion asks in astonishment.
?: "Yes, Xion. A keyblade, one just for you. While the shape does resemble the one used by Sora and your friend Roxas, its powers are its own. It may be even stronger than the one called "Kingdom Key". I will be sending you with not only this weapon, but with a few spells as well. The spells of Fire, Blizzard, and Thunder will be at your command to use as you see fit, but only through training will you unlock more spells and their upgraded variants. However what makes this keyblade special is that in times of crisis, this keyblade will upgrade your spells to their mightiest form. It will not work all the time, but it could turn the tables at a moment's notice" The stranger explains.
Xion slowly takes the keyblade, all the while thinking of everything she and her previous keyblade have gone through. The days that passed, the Heartless she's slain, the memories she's made, the sunsets she basked in with her dear friends. Her previous keyblade led to the moments she gave up her life for her friends, with this keyblade, she decides will be the one that helps get them back. With the keyblade fully in her grasp, she feels an immense but comforting power building up inside, one she fully welcomes.
Xion: "Thank you, for everything you're doing for me. I'm not sure if there's any way I can pay you back for what you're doing." Xion says with a grateful tone and a smile while looking at the stranger.
?: "It is as I said, my dear. I am a guide that leads all who enter The Abyss Of Oblivion. It was nothing special at all, just fulfilling my role." The stranger replies. Xion begins to look as if she's deep in thought about something.
Xion: "Are you the only guide here or are there more of you?" She asks curiously.
?: "There is no need for other guides, since I'm able to sense when someone has entered here. With my powers, I am also able to talk and guide multiple people at once. Thus there are no others besides me." The stranger replies.
Xion: "Well then, if you're the only one, how about…I give you a name?" Xion says. The stranger gave no indication of surprise, just merely stood there before speaking again.
?: "There is no need for me to have a name, for once I guide others out of this abyss, they never do return. If they never return, there is no reason to give them a name to address me with in the first place." The stranger explains.
Xion: "But, doesn't it get lonely here all by yourself? When I first got here, I thought I was going to be all alone. The first few minutes of wandering aimlessly in this place, was beginning to get unbearable to me that all I wanted to do was run and leave this place. But hearing how you've been here all alone without other guides for all these years, makes me think you've been here without a single friend. You've helped me in a way not many others are willing to do, so I want to repay you the best way I possibly can. By giving you two things." Xion explains.
?: "I am curious, you said "two things". One I know is a name, but what is the other?" The stranger asks. Xion proceeds to smile widely.
Xion: "A friend." Xion replies with a goofy grin similar to Sora's. This response led the stranger to gasp in surprise. This was the first time someone has offered to be the stranger's friend. While she did not need either friends or a name, this nonetheless caught her off guard.
?: "You want me as a friend? Why? I have already guided you to where you needed to go in order to return, so why ask me to be a friend?" The stranger asks.
Xion: "It's true you helped me, now I want to help you. You offer so many things to the people who come here, I want to offer you something too. Not because it's a trade or anything, but because it's the right thing to do. For a while as a replica, I had no attachments. Just carry my orders, return to the castle, wait for the next day. But then I met Roxas, he gave me ice cream, showed me a wonderful spot with a beautiful sunset, and became my friend. When I was all alone, he gave me friendship when I didn't think I would need it. I wanna give you that kindness too, because while our pasts are different, I want to spend the present and future as your friend. Just because you can handle being alone here, doesn't mean you should. It's ok to at least have one friend." Xion explains happily.
For the first time since this whole meeting, the stranger was at a loss of words. True she led others to where they needed to go before, but Xion was the first to offer her such kindness in the form of friendship and was truly adamant on it. Breaking off the silence, the stranger let out a small amused chuckle.
? "You're dead set on this whole friendship with me aren't you?" The stranger asks.
Xion: "I am! I really do want to be friends with you." Xion walks to the stranger and takes the stranger's hand into both of her own. "I also want to talk with you some more, share some more moments with you. This isn't something to repay you for, this is something I want to do. I want to share my happiness with you, just like how Roxas shared his happiness with me." Xion continues.
The stranger said nothing else, merely stared at Xion and her own hand that was still being held by both of Xion's. After a few moments of silence, the stranger finally broke it.
?: "Well then Xion, what would you call me should you give me a name?"The stranger asked. Removing one of her hands from the stranger, she places it under chin and begins to think hard. In a few moments of more silence, she snapped her fingers.
Xion: "Well, since we met here in this Abyss, I think we should give you the name…Abby! Yeah, Abby of The Abyss." Xion said cheerfully.
Silence once again took over the conversation as it did many times before, but as soon as it arrived it vanished quickly because something happened that Xion was not expecting. The stranger began to laugh, leaving Xion a bit puzzled.
?: "I was not expecting a childish answer like that. "Abby of The Abyss?" You chose the name because it was close to "abyss", didn't you?"The stranger asks before proceeding to laugh once more. Causing Xion to pout hard, you could almost see the steam coming out of her ears.
Xion: "Hey, I put a lot of thought into that name! Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to laugh at me for it!" Xion yells while crossing her arms while continuing to pout. The laughter began to die down and the stranger began to catch her breath.
?: "Once again, you misunderstand Xion. I said it was a childish answer, I did not say it was a bad one. Besides, it is the first time I've ever been offered, who am I to turn it down. I will graciously accept the name Abby, and I will gladly be your friend."She said placing her hand on top of Xion and began rubbing it, messing up Xion's hair. Xion giggled.
Xion: "Well then, I hope we can talk again…Abby." Xion said, sticking her hand out for a hand shake.
Abby: "I would very much like that too, Xion." Abby said, accepting the handshake. Afterwards they let go and Abby began to float backwards. "It is time for you to go now…my friend. I wish you the best of luck on your journey, and who knows…maybe we will talk again in the future. Until then, this is farewell." Abby says before stopping.
Abby raises her arms into the air, causing a large light to appear below Xion. Xion, realizing this means her time with Abby was over, began to wave at her new friend from the abyss with a smile on her face.
Xion: "Until we meet again, Abby. I'll be looking forward to that day!" Xion said happily. A large pillar of light surrounded Xion and engulfed her. As the light began to fade, Xion was no longer standing on her Station Of Awakening, instead Abby found herself once again alone in the Abyss. Though she was not sad, for she was not truly alone anymore. She had a friend she looked forward to seeing again.
Abby: "You certainly are a child Xion. A pure, happy child. I can't wait to see the person you'll grow to be." Abby said staring off at the projection of Planet Earth before fading away herself and her job in guiding the young replica, was completed.
End Of Chapter 1
A/N: Wow, that was a lot longer than I thought it was going to be! But besides that, welcome everyone to my first ever fanfic. As you probably read in the description, this is a fanfic which focuses on Xion traveling to the Dragon Ball universe in order to regain her lost power and to grow even stronger. I've seen many Kingdom Hearts X Dragon Ball Z fanfics, but I don't think I've ever seen a completed one before. Either they consist of 1 chapter or they were never completed or still being made, I don't know.
What I want to do is introduce this fanfic to y'all and see how you enjoy it and considering this is my first time doing a fan-fiction, I am not all that well-versed in grammar and storytelling. Therefore some constructive criticism and help would very much be very appreciated. I will however keep these rules in mind.
1: The main focus will be on Xion as this is her own adventure, so I will hardly be taking in the viewpoints of other characters, though that does not mean there won't be at all. 2: Abby will most likely be my only OC since I don't wanna have to memorize and place a bunch of different OC's all over the place. 3: Xion will be the only one to have the keyblade. Why? This makes her character stand out a lot more as Abby said before, there will be no Heartless or Nobodies in The Realm Beyond. Also another reason is that nearly all of the DBZ characters are masters or professionals of hand-to-hand combat, thus it'll be weird to suddenly switch their fighting styles from hand-to-hand to swordplay.
One more thing, as much as I like the name of it, I will take in name suggestions for this fanfic. As much as I like the name "The Key Wish", it's honestly lacking in impact, so if you have any title suggestions that come to mind, feel free to suggest them. Who knows, if I already chose a title and the suggestions are still good, I'll most likely have them as chapter names.
I think that's everything now, so I hope you all like it and I look forward to making more chapters and seeing what battle and antics Xion gets in with the Z-Fighters, if she can find them. See you all next time!
