Arizona Robbins looked at the grey door of her ex-wife's New York City apartment. She lifted her hand to knock on the door before slowly lowering it.

She shifted her weight to favor her right leg as she rested her left hand on the frame of the door. She hung her head as she let her mind wander three thousands miles and a decade before.

She used to knock on Callie's door back when they were first dating before she was given a key and told to come over whenever she wanted. It was right across from the hospital which always beat the fifteen minute drive to her place.

She didn't knock because they lived together but then a plane fell out of the sky and up became down and left became right. Callie had to knock on the bedroom door that she banished her from. God, she hated herself for that. For making Callie feel unwelcome in her own home. For making Callie feel unwelcome in their marriage. She shook her head at her past actions that led her to now.

She didn't need to knock and now she did.

She lifted her hand up again but instead of knocking she traced over the number on the door.

It was almost comical that Callie was living in another apartment that was number 502. The same number that once had been their home. Now it hung on the apartment that Callie had to herself.

She and Sofia flew in after she walked April down the aisle to Matthew. She managed to see Alex and Jo before she and Sofia had to go to the airport to give him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek. A flight that saw her hiding the panic she felt from being on a plane again by focusing on Sofia for the nearly six hours. Callie met them at her new apartment so she could take Sofia for the night.

A night that saw her looking a crossed at the building that housed her daughter and ex-wife more than she did any unpacking.

She showered, put her leg on, and dressed before heading across the street and up to stand before apartment 502 just before nine.

When she couldn't find another reason to wait anymore she finally knocked on the door and stepped back. As she waited her mind floated to the last few months. The texts, both serious and flirty, the way she couldn't stop smiling when she saw Callie sent her something, the way she felt a pull that she couldn't ignore anymore. She might be a fool for this but she had to try.

Callie swung the door opened wearing an old t-shirt and a pair of yoga pants that made Arizona's eyes drop before they shot back up.

"So picture this," Arizona started nervously as a ramble that she had gone over and over in her head came out, "I'm standing in my apartment with boxes all around me. And I know the work that I've come here to do is important. It's going to save lives. And I am so grateful I get to do it. But I'm standing there in my apartment with boxes around me and I'm crying. Because I'm looking a crossed the street at this building and I know my daughter and my wife are in there. And I know you're not my wife. And we can't just pick up where we were when we were wives. We have to figure out if we're more than text messages and late night calls. We have history and baggage that has to be unpacked and sorted. Both sides have work to do. But can we just forget all of that for five minutes? For five minutes can you just be kissing me and I just be kissing you? Because Calliope, I have missed you so much. Can you just be my wife again for five minutes?"

Callie stood stunned at the speech that came out of Arizona before they had even said hello to each other.

Without another word, Callie reached out and tugged Arizona toward her while being mindful of her left leg. She shut the door before pressing Arizona against her and stepping in close so they were pressed together.

This was the moment they had been building toward since they started talking and texting each other. This moment where a decade of history, of friends lost and love shattered and marriage and divorced were left in the past to have grass grow over.

"I really hope I get to be your wife again for more than five minutes," Callie whispered as she pressed her forehead to Arizona's. "But I'm happy to start with five minutes and see how it goes."

"Calliope," Arizona whimpered as her hand came up to cup Callie's jaw.

"I missed you too, Arizona," Callie whispered.

They leaned toward each other in the same moment as their lips connected for their first kiss in years. It started tender and sweet but it wasn't long before it deepened. Callie leaned her frame into Arizona as Arizona wrapped her arms tighter around Callie's chest.

They broke apart when they heard small feet running down the hallway. Callie standing a foot away with her eyes on Arizona's lips.

"Mommy!" Sofia giggled, oblivious to what her mothers had just been doing. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to take you and Momma to breakfast," Arizona said as Callie stepped back.

"Go get dressed, Sofia," Callie said as she smiled her super magic smile at Arizona.

"Okay!" Sofia ran off.

"I'll be back," Callie said.

"I'll be here," Arizona nodded.

Callie snuck another kiss before smiling and walking down the hall to get dressed.

Arizona stood heavy against the doorway with a goofy smile on her lips. She had been nervous about New York but now? Now she felt like she was finally home again.
