Hello Everyone! I'm rewriting this fanfic and cleaning it up by popular demand. I've just joined Archive Of Our Own (AOO) so I'll be posting across platforms. However, some stories will be on and some will be on AAO under the same pen name. I have new babies that have started following me so...I'm revamping my old stories.
New Followers, Comments, and Favs will be added to each chapter just like as if I first wrote this!
Title: The Perfect Storm
Lord Sesshoumaru had reached the pinnacle of his reign as the Lord of the Western Lands since the death of Naraku. But not even his lands are completely safe as an African Queen is brought to his throne room along with premonitions declaring he seeks the help of his half-brother and the miko to save all that he holds dear.

Chapter 1: Warning Signs
"Iron Reaver Soul Stealer!"
Sharpened claws glided easily through the air towards the body mass ripping it into shreds. It's maimed body now falling down in shock and horror at his circumstances as the half demon flexed his hand popping a few joints. Golden eyes gazed downward upon him with judgement and curiosity while the tips of his snow colored ears swiveled towards the forest around him.
"Why have you come here?" He demanded not really caring if he received and answer or not. He watched in frustration as the rogue creature simply bared its claws and teeth at him in a final attempt at perseverance.
"Feh"
"Inuyasha!" Yelled a priestess as she drew back her arrow and shot it towards the demon now flopping lifelessly on the ground. Pink miko energy engulfed the small area and purified it upon contact. The woman ran up to the hanyou with a frown as she watched the dark energy leave the being and vanish into the sunny heavens away from sight.
"What the hell Kagome! I said go back and I'll take care of this!" Yelled Inuyasha as he watched the woman look up at the sky and frown before she looked at him. Her red and white miko robes rustled in the wind slightly with the summer breeze. Her long wavy locks blew freely without restraint as her arms went up to get another arrow for her bow.
"I'm priestess of this region now Inuyasha! So, I'm doing my job rather you like it or not!" She voiced before notching another arrow in her bow and releasing it. He watched as her miko energy surged and flew towards something at a distance in the tree line. His eyes grew wide at the pure magnitude of power Kagome displayed due to her recent training at various temples that they would journey to when given the opportunity. She was arguably the greatest priestess of the era or so that's what the people have labeled her after the destruction of Naraku and the jewel.
With his great demonic eyes sight he watched as the arrow made contact releasing the tell-tale glow of pink energy. Slowly the same black energy escaped from the rogue demon and rose into the air like the demon before him. The air was calm for a bit in ways he hadn't felt for a long time. The tiny hairs on his arms stood up in warning yet he sensed no danger. He had been like this for days now torn between the desire to fight everybody and hide away his family somewhere safe from all the recent unrest. With the destruction of Naraku came a whole amount of new problems such as famine, discrimination, many civil war among shoguns, and violence. Many opportunists saw this time of temporary peace and began fighting literally for power or control and it was reaching all areas of Japan. And now there were blind demon attacks on his village. Inuyasha frowned at this before looking back at Kagome who simply put away her weapons with a soft sigh. Her hands went up in prayer quickly while her lips muttered away about something to the Kami's.
His eyes traveled along the side of her heart shaped face and glanced along the column of her neck where his courting mark sat bright in its pink-crescent shaped form. Upon bestowing the transitory mark upon his intended, he wasn't sure what to expect and was pleasantly surprised to find that the mark given to his future mate was of royal significance of his Inu pack. He managed to speak to his brother when they weren't exchanging verbal blows to discuss the topic only to find his brother as equally is as surprised. Since then, he had shared more and more of the burden that his older brother had of the Western Lands by becoming a Lord in his own right and protecting all villages in his jurisdiction. At first he suspected it was due to Rin's frequent visiting to her newly acquired "family" but, after a while he saw proof in his older brother's actions and what was noted as an attempt at building stronger pack bonds.
A frown marred his face slightly remembering when he first had given it to her. It was a glorious bright red color reflective of himself onto her tan skin. Now, the mark's coloration seemed to have visibly dimmed to the dull dusty pink slightly upsetting him for unknown reasons.
'What does this mean?' he thought.
Kagome finished her prayers and watched as the demonic remains disappeared from sight, hopefully finding peace along the journey to their next destination in the afterlife. She turned her head and caught Inuyasha's stare with a lopsided smile. "Inuyasha?
She watched the half-demon seemingly come to his senses before looking over into her own big brown eyes. She waited patiently holding out her small hand while looking at him with a soft smile. "You coming? Kaeda made her special stew and I'm sure Sango and Miroku are back from Sango's village."
Inuyasha smiled gently before walking towards her and brushing the soft tendrils of hair from blocking his view of his mark. He watched her cheeks seemingly glow from the touch of his fingers and claws gliding lovingly over the temporary mating mark with a gentleness she didn't know he had until she came back from her own time. He rubbed the mark before trailing upward towards her face before sliding lower till he held her hand in his own.
Kagome watched as a devious grin etched itself onto his face before she was pulled into his arms. Without further thought he walked forward and picked the woman up practically throwing the woman on his back before racing back home to the family.
"Jerk." Kagome muttered holding onto him for dear life watching the forest around her vanish in a blur.
