Hey there guys! Remember an old story called Masked Vigilante that was uploaded a year back? By Ancient Keeper of Scrolls? Well, that was me and I'm sorry I never got around to updating the story way back then. I had some real-life issues that left me homeless for quite some time hehe. Thankfully, I'm doing much better now so I decided to get back into the game! I realize that this is a new account I am posting from, I forgot the email to the old one, heck, I didn't have when I went homeless, so I had to restart so to say. So, I'll be posting from this new account! I had to copy over the first 2 chapters, so here they are! I also typed up a 3rd chapter as well! So, enjoy!
New York City, a city so famous that it has garnered many names, such as 'The City that never sleeps' or 'The City of Dreams', but perhaps the most known is the 'Big Apple'. The city with all of its glamor and charm also has a dark underside, a city of crime. It is a city riddled with crime, not surprising considering that it hosted a massive population. However, the city had attracted two things to combat crime. The first was a company called Vought, a massive company that manages what they and the people call Supes, Superheroes. The mammoth of a company has many Supes under its license, thus allowing it to generate billions in profits, from movie, merchandising and other ventures regarding their Supes, with their flagship Supes being the 'Seven' as they are dubbed.
The other thing that New York has attracted is not a company, it attracted a vigilante. Going by the name of 'Fox', this vigilante is not a licensed hero under Vought, however, his actions to combat crime any and everywhere has earned him the title of a hero. However, it is because of the fact that he is not licensed under Vought, he is labeled as another vigilante, a title that Vought counties to push on him.
"Can't you guys like not commit a crime on a weekend?" A fox masked figure requested with annoyance as he dodged another punch effortlessly, his white cloak fluting as he spun around the common thug, delivering a devastating kick to the thug's head, sending him flying into some garbage cans. The cloak settled down and could finally be seen in its majesty. It was pristine white, with red flames licking the very bottom with Japanese kanji. To those who knew Japanese or had translated the Japanese, the kanji's translated to 'Fourth Fire Shadow'. Many people had tried to decipher the meaning, but none ever could.
"Hey! Watch the Cloak!" The man, young man, shouted as he dodged a piss poor attempt by another thug to stab him with a knife from behind by backflipping over the thug and springing forwards, delivering a spine shattering punch to the thugs back. He huffed as he stood over the two injured thugs. Crossing his hands over his chest he waited for the cops to arrive.
"I'll keep you lot company until the cops arrive. You're lucky that it is not one of those 'Supes' that found you. You'd have far worse injuries than a broken spin and a slightly cracked skull." He commented with a sigh. They were petty criminals, trying to jack cars.
"Hey look! It's the vigilante Fox!" A random citizen pointed as the now identified Fox rolled his eyes. He threw his hands up in the air, his cloak fluttering once more as one could see the cloths he wore underneath. Simply black pants, combat boots and a flak jacket.
"For the last time! I am not a vigilante!" Fox shouted in response as he huffed once more before looking to his right, hearing the sirens of the police cars. Nodding to himself he turned to the thugs laying on the ground.
"Well, here comes the cops. Now do be good and try to not cause any more trouble." Fox stated before he burst into white smoke as people began to take his photos in hopes of getting more information on the unknown vigilante, only to be disappointed when there was no sign of him after the smoke cleared. Once more the vigilante of New York struck again and as always, he vanished in a burst of white smoke. While many people were just glad that Fox kept them safe, there were others who hated him for various reasons.
Vought Tower:
Vought Tower was well known as a skyscraper made to house Vought flagships Supes; the Seven. At floor 99, the Seven, or rather the Six for now, were having a meeting, a meeting about the very vigilante known as Fox.
"This motherfucker has been driving our sales down! When the fuck are we going do something about this cocksucker?" One of the Sevens, Translucent, questioned as he tossed his tablet on the table, annoyed at the fact that he was losing profits. Translucent was virtually invisible to the human eye and was known for his diamond skin. His perverted tendencies were lesser known.
"Translucent is right. Somehow this guy can respond to crimes faster than I can!" A-Train, the worlds 'Fastest Man', cried out, his pride, reputation and ego taking a huge blow. Another man chuckled as the two turned to him with a frown.
"Well, I for one have to thank Fox." The Deep responded as he chuckled at his fellow Supe's problem. He himself had not taken a huge hit to his reputation or points within the market as his primary operating field was the water fronts and the oceans. While his powers associated with the ocean were considered somewhat a joke, they ironically were not keeping himself within the market.
"Of course, you don't give a damn! This 'Fox' guy isn't going around sticking his dick in blowholes!" Translucent joked as most of the Seven laughed at Deep's expense. Deep in the meanwhile was not happy.
"For the last time, I don't fuck dolphins!" The Deep countered as Translucent and A-Train only laughed more. Black Nori and Queen Maeve ignored the banter between the three while the sixth member, their leader, stared out of the large glass window that gave him a good sight of the city. He looked at the city below with judgmental eyes before he took a deep breath and turned around.
"Why is it that we are being upstaged by a vigilante in our own backyard? Hmm?" Homelander questioned the group. With his question, the argument between the three members ceased and everyone's attention as on him. Homelander looked at them with a smile, a smile that they knew well if they angered him.
"Cause he's just…faster…" A-Trian opened his mouth but quickly shut it as Homelander turned his gaze at him, keeping his smile.
"Is he now?" Homelander questioned as he slowly walked up to A-Train's chair. The others merely watched, keeping their mouth shut and watching the proceedings.
"Yh…I guess…." A-Train responded once more, however, Homelander let lose a low chuckle as he rested his hands on A-Train's shoulder.
"But I thought…you were the fastest man on Earth?" Homelander questioned as he tightened his squeeze on A-Trains shoulders, causing the said man to feel discomfort, but he dared not say it. Homelander's low chuckle faded as his smile was replaced with a slight frown.
"So, you are telling me…that a mere…vigilante…is not only able to out compete Vought, but also does your jobs better then you can?" Homelander questioned them as his anger slowly start to build and rise to the surface.
"Come on Homelander, look, we are just down a member. Afterall, we are the Seven, not the Six. Just wait till we get another seventh member, and we can fix this whole mess." Translucent tried to appease the man, but Homelander merely gave him a stern look, as if an adult scolding a child.
"If the six of us can't do anything, then what the fuck will a seventh member do?" Homelander questioned, his patient running very thin. Queen Maeve sighed as she decided to finally speak up.
"Why don't we just bring him in? Have him licensed under Vought. That'll make things easier." She suggested as A-Train and Translucent frowned, while Black Nori kept quiet, doing his own thing. Homelander thought about it before chuckling.
"Not happening. Madelyn has already made clear that she does not want him for Vought. Hell, she's the one who pushed so hard to try and discredit him." Homelander responded, to which he somewhat understood. This 'Fox' person most likely worked alone and thus would no doubt refuse to work with them to begin with.
"Then let's just kill him." Translucent suggested to which Homelander chuckled even more.
"Sure, if you can find him. Vought spent a whole year trying to find him with no luck." Homelander countered as he sat down on his seat as all eyes set on him.
"For now, we continue doing our job, but, if anyone of use run into this 'Fox', then we should all be upstanding citizens and remind him to cease his dangerous game, least he hurts someone." Homelander stated with a smile, but they knew better. Out of then Seven, Homelander was the most dangerous and he did not tolerate any shit that went against him and while Homelander may not fully show it, he was quite angry with this whole 'Fox' situation.
"Now then, how is the search for the new Seventh member going?" Homelander questioned, his personality doing a 180.
Downtown New York:
Annie January had always wanted to do one thing; to save the world and to do that she had assumed that her first step was to join Vought and more importantly, the Seven. She was gifted with a unique power; the ability to absorb ambient electricity before releasing it in a focused blast. Beyond that, she had superhuman strength, durability, and recovery. Thus, she had gained herself the nickname 'Defender of Des Moines', a nickname she was proud of as she had always tried to stop crime whenever possible. However, her life was about to change today.
"Mom said she would meet me in a few days…" She mumbled to herself as she explored the busy streets of New York. She had been so excited by the news that she was selected to give an interview for vacant place on the Seventh that she went to New York ahead of her mother, eager to get familiar with the city she would, potentially, spend much of her time in.
"This city is so big." She awed at the size and scale of the city. While she knew that New York was a big city, seeing it in person gave it a whole new size and scale. As she walked down the busy streets, her attention was quickly pulled away from the sites to the sounds of gunfire and screaming. Frowning, she quickly focused on the issue, a bank robbery.
"I guess crime also never sleeps in this city." She said to herself as she readied to stop the robbery, but just as the robbers came into her sight, their weapons drawn at the crowd to ward off any would-be hero, they were immediately disarmed by…knifes?
"What?" She thought. No, not knifes, Kunai's. She knew what they were because Black Nori was known to use them as well and they were typically associated as tools for assassins. She briefly wondered if Black Nori was here, but her unspoken question was answered when a figure landed in-between the crowd and the robbers.
"Seriously, first car-jackers, then I had to stop some small-time thugs trying to rob an old lady and now this? Give me a break!" The figure grumbled out as the robbers gulped and took a step back.
"Its 'Fox!" Someone from the crowd shouted out as Annie's eyes widened. So, this was the infamous 'Fox' that she had heard about.
"S-Stay back!" One of the robbers shouted out as he pulled a handgun and pointed at an innocent child who he had taken as a hostage for a situation just like this. The child, a girl, was terrified at the situation. Fox did not move as he looked at the scum that would use a child as a shield.
"You'd use a child as a bargaining chip? I was going to just tie you guys up, but now I'm going to beat you to an inch of your life." Fox stated as he vanished, leaving the on lookers in surprise. Annie however was more than surprised.
"That was pure speed! He's faster than A-Train!" She shouted mentally as she watched the vigilante appear behind the robbers before yanking the one holding the girl hostage back, violently. The robber did not know what was happening. One second, he was holding the child hostage and the next he was staring at the sky before his head connected with the concrete wall, effectively sending him to dreamland.
"What th –" The next robber did not get to finish as a quick succession of precision hits immobilized him. The last robber panicked and tried to run, key word being tried, as Fox, with extreme speed, threw another kunai that cut through the shoulder with such force that the robber was jerked forward, the kunai carrying him forward with its momentum before slamming him into a wall, effectively pinning him. The vigilante huffed as he looked at the robbers.
"Next time don't bring a child into your stupid crimes and maybe you won't get hurt so much." Fox stated as was about to leave before he felt a tug on his cloak. Turning around he looked down the find the child that he had saved, her face covered in her own tears and snot.
"T-Thank you mister." The child cried out. She had been separated from her mother during the robbery and the robbers had snatched her to use her as a shield. Fox raised his hand and rubber her ruffled her hair.
"Don't worry kid, so long as I'm around, scum like them won't be harming anyone, not on my watch." Fox declared. While he wore a mask, Annie could almost feel his smile as he comforted the child before the police arrived and with their arrival the masked vigilante was gone once again in a burst of white smoke. Annie was left speechless. She had heard many things about this vigilante, however, to see him in action was a whole another thing. There was not a single wasted movement in his strikes, no hesitation, and his precision and speed were astonishing! He was quick and efficient, appearing and disappearing once the crime was over, with no need or rather desire to bath in the people's praises. And it was at that moment she realized what kind of superhero she wanted to be, she wanted to be like Fox.
On-top of a building:
At the roof of a nearby building, Fox appeared before he walked over to the ledge to see the police arrive at the crime scene he had just thwarted before he reached for his mask and pulled it down while in a poof a scroll appeared out of nowhere in his other hand.
"And here I thought I was going to have a relaxing day today." The vigilante sighed as he opened the scroll and placed his mask near it before the mask poofed and vanished. He looked up as he took the sights of the city with his blue eyes as his blonde hair gently swayed back and worth thanks to a breeze. Perhaps the most unique feature on his face were his whisker like marks, three on each cheek. He repeated the same process with his cloak and flak jacket, leaving him in just his black pants, boots, and a simple orange shirt.
"Like that'll ever happen. This whole city is a cesspool of crime, despite what those tights wearing 'hero's' do." A deep voice stated within his head causing him to nod. He agreed with that statement completely. Despite having the 'Seven', the supposed greatest Supes on Earth, they could not even stop all crimes in their own home city.
"That's why I'm here." He replied, confidently, as he puffed his chest out. The being in his gut rolls his eyes at that.
"You mean you're here because that punk Uchiha was too much of a bitch to accept defeat and tried to take both himself and you out in a kamikaze style attack?" The being questioned as the Fox's chest deflated and began to mumble something about smart ass nine tailed beasts.
"Did you really have to bring that back up, Kurama?" The vigilante asked the now named Kurama, who merely chuckled in response.
"If I don't keep your ego in check, who will Naruto?" The tailed beast questioned his friend. Fox or rather Naruto, sighed at that, but smiled none the less. They may fight at times, but they were like brothers, a bond they established by fighting in a war. He was broken out of his musing when he heard another set of sirens.
"I just wanted ONE DAY OFF!" And with that he was off again, going to stop another crime in progress.
