You: "Hey Lily!" you yelled running to your older sister, with a ball in your hand.
Lily: "Ugh what is it now (y/n)?" Your sister groaned turning around to face you.
You: "Can we please play catch? Mom's inside right now she won't catch us. Please!"
She looked around the yard to see if what you said was actually true, still skeptical of it. But you were right your mother wasn't anywhere to he found.
Lily: "Fine, but just for a few minutes then we have to get back to training" She sighed grabbing the ball from your hand. "Now you go long and try and catch it!" She started backing up.
You: "Hehe, I won't have to try." You giggled in a cheeky tone running from your sister to catch the ball.
Lily: "we'll see about that!" She shouted in a sassy tone so you could hear her.
The second the ball left her hand you both watched as it flew over your head and Into the dark forest behind you.
Lily: "ha, looks like I win-" she cut herself off as her cocky expression changed to panic and confusion.
The trees started rustling and the ground underneath them breaking into two.
You: "L-Lily!" You called out in fear keeping your eyes on the fracturing ground, struggling to get your words out.
You were like a deer in headlights. Your entire body had froze as you watched the ground in front of you tear into two.
Lily: "(Y/n) move!" Sh yelled from behind, her voice moving closer and closer toward you.
You felt your body being thrown against the hard ground. You frantically shook your head, raising up snapping back to reality.
You: "Lily!" You screamed out in terror as your voice cracked, and your body started to tremble.
Your sister dangled in the massive crack in the ground, barley holding onto the ledge. You were in a complete panic and quickly ran over to her.
You: "Grab…. my… hand! Come on Lily!" Your voice straining, stretching yourself as far as possible for her reach.
Lily: "(Y/n) go!" She said with shake in her own voice as tears swelled in her eyes as she looked up at you. "The ground's unstable you'll fall down here too!" One of her hands fell from the ground she's latching onto and she slightly yelped.
You: "Lily!" You screamed, not wanting to leave her as tears of heartbreak and fear ran down your face.
Lily: "Listen to me for once and go you idiot!"
You sniffed nodding your head and started backing up trying to think of how to save her. You tried using your quirk to lift her up but in the moment you couldn't focus enough to do so. Your eyes shook back and fourth and your heart felt like a drum inside your chest. You slowly watched the ground around you start to form even larger cracks and you started to run back with your head over your shoulder keeping your eyes locked on your sister. You stopped as the ground she was holding onto crumbled in seconds as you watched her hand slowly fall into the abyss. Once she was gone the ground stopped cracking and the air was filled with dust. You stood staring at the ground in completely shock letting out silent screams. Your body and voice in some much pain you couldn't muster any sound. You heard leaves crunching to your left and slowly turned your head to the sound. The red ball from earlier was rolling toward you and gently hit your foot. You started at it for a few seconds and then completely realized what had happened. You started running toward your house tears streaming down your face. You bursted through the back door and ran to the living room to your mother.
You: "Mom! It's Lily sh- she fell and I can't get her you have to help, please!" You loudly begged struggling to get your words out.
Your mother: "(Y/n), stop your crying. You won't amount to anything if you cry over every inconvenience." She stated emotionlessly, not even giving a second thought to your words
"You: Bu- but lily's gone we have to fix it we have to save her!" You begged in a calmer tone confused on to why she had little to no reaction.
She walked over to you and your eyes went all fuzzy with a stinging on your cheek.
Your mother: "The council has no need for your sister anymore. Go to your room and start packing we're moving to a new house where her presences won't be known." She demanded walking off the your fathers office.
You dropped to your knees and gasped for air as emotions over came you.
Your mother: "And don't you dare go back outside!"
You slammed your hand against your mouth muffling your crying as you ran upstairs. Once you were in your room you slammed the door, dropping to your knees letting you and your tears fall onto the floor.
13 years ago on that day, the day you lost the person who was your best friend, who you were safe with, who loved you no matter what. She was gone and it was all your fault. You promised yourself you would never give death to those who didn't deserve it and to those who did you would bring justice and slaughter them.
A loud beeping noise went off waking you up. You groaned looking over, shutting your alarm off. Today wasn't just another (crappy) day, it was a (freaking crappy) day. Your supposed to battle higher status classes to determine if you can move into the hero corse at UA high. Right now your in general studies because you purposely failed the entrance exam about 11 months ago due to your parents. However that doesn't matter anymore because you have to pass this test otherwise your parents will kill you, 𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑙𝑦. You quickly got dressed and left the house. You weren't in the mood for eating breakfast, it wasn't the first time and definitely wouldn't be the last.
You finally arrived at the gates of UA. You shook your head and put a smile on your face, hiding your true feelings. You had to think positively otherwise you'd make a bad impression on the other students and you CAN'T stand out. You took a deep breath and thought of how hard you worked to get here.
You: "This is it (y/n)! Your only chance at freedom starts today!"
You had to become a hero to stop C.O.S and be free from your deluded parents control.
You sprinted to Mr. Aizawa's office and knocked on the door.
Mr. Aizawa: "Come in."
You opened the door and Mr. Aizawa was getting up from his desk holding a briefcase, it was your hero suit!
You: "Hello Mr. Aizawa" You greeted him with a soft smile.
Mr. Aizawa: "Hello Toshiko, please follow me I'll show you where to change." he explained.
You two arrived in a small changing room near the training grounds.
Mr. Aizawa: "Get dressed in here and wait. I'll knock when it's time to get you."
This was the first time you were able to try on your hero suit and surprisingly it fit and looked really good. The black leather fit you like a glove showing your slim figure. Long black boots ran up your legs with a higher platform supporting your feet for any rough movement during battle. Your white wings sat comfortably rolled up behind you where your water tank was hooked at. Two tubes from the tank ran up behind you to your mask where your mouth was. It offered the hydration your body constantly needed especially in battle. Your eyes were shielded with large glasses to protect them from debris while flying. And lastly your comfortable headphones were connected to your glasses were connected to hero radios when needed.
After a few minutes of nervously waiting you heard a knock on the door, and opened the door to Mr. Aizawa.
Mr. Aizawa: "Good your ready, I'll explain the rules when you're with the others."
You nodded your head and followed him to a stage with a huge screen next to it where everyone else was at.
Unknown: "Hey! Toshiko it's good to see you again"
You turned to see a red haired man followed by a blonde with a lightning bolt in his hair. You met them at the sports festival but completely blanked on their names.
You: "Oh…hey uh-," you awkwardly muttered with a soft pink tint of embarrassment bubbling up on your cheeks.
Kirishima: "I'm Kirishima and this is Kaminari." He introduced himself and his friend.
You: "right sorry", You softly smiled at the cheery boys.
Kaminari: "No sweat Toshiko, it's been a while since we last saw each other."
Mr. Aizawa started explaining how the training would work, "Class A and B will each be split into 5 groups, 4 people for each group. Toshiko will be with class A and B one time, the groups will be randomized. Your group will win by capturing all 4 of the members of the other team or knocking them out."
Unknown: "So that means new kid's dead weight" some guy scoffed in a mocking tone.
You rolled your eyes ignoring him. You couldn't tell who said it and brushed it off but they weren't exactly wrong.
The Team list was presented on screen:
1. Kaminari, Koda, Asui, Kirishima and Toshiko. VS
Shishida, shiozaki, Rin, and Tsuburaba.
2. Tokoyami, Yaoyorozu, Hagakure, and Aoyama.
VS
Komori, Kendo, Kuroiro, and Fukidashi.
3. Todoroki, Iida, Shoji, and Ojiro.
VS
Tetsutetsu, Tsunotori, Honenuki, and Kaibara.
4. Bakugo, Jiro, Sero, and Sato.
VS
Kamakiri, Kojiro, Tokage, and Awase.
5. Midoriya, Uraraka, Ashido, and Mineta.
VS
Monoma, Yanagi, Kodai, Shoda, and Toshiko.
After the teams were shown on the screen your team was up, they didn't give much time for you all to make a plan which slightly annoyed you.
Ausi: "So Toshiko, how does your quirk work exactly?"
"Oh, well I can expand and control water. But the expanded water goes down to its original amount after 30 minutes, and I am able to make water extremely hot or cold if needed. My wings,however, work like regular bird wings but I'm able to turn them to water and manipulate them. Although I usually just use them to fly."
You left a few major parts about your wings and water manipulation's true power, those were secrets not to be shared with anyone.
Before anyone could say anymore about the plan the alarm went off and the match began. You started to walk with Koda, Kirishima, and Kaminari while Ausi walked on the walls. You all stayed quiet letting Koda concentrate. He sent some birds out to determine where your opponents were,
and found Rin and Shishida with Tsuburaba on his back but Shiozaki nowhere to be found.
Shishida was quickly charging towards you all.
Kaminari: "So much for trying to track them down" he muttered getting into an defensive. And then shot a charge of lighting at Shishida but it didn't affect him in his beast form.
Kirishima went in for an attack as Shishida got closer to Kaminari. But as Kirishima went to attack Shishida Tsuburaba popped up from his back and shot an air box around the red head. Shishida then took care of Kaminari knocking him unconscious. He then came for you but you quickly manipulated the water under your feet, expanding it outward to form a ice path that quickly froze the beast and his comrades. Shishida broke out of the the ice and Tsuburaba blew an air box around you and Koda trapping the both of you. Asui jumped behind your opponents and grabbed Rin with her tongue before he could do anything. You quickly broke the boxes you, Koda, and Kirishima were in with water pressure.
Kirishima: "Thanks for the save (y/n)" he said with his signature bright smile as he got ready to get back in the fight.
Asui: "I'll take rin back to the jail, you guys gonna be good?" She asked as she caried Rin on her back with her tongue.
You: "Of course" You replied as you flew up above Shishida and Tsuburaba.
Asui nodded and went off to the jail. You were out of reach from Shishida's hits but that didn't mean the other two were. Shishida focused on Kirishima and Koda while Tsuburaba still tried to trap you in more air boxes.
You dodged the boxes aimed at you with ease with a slight hint of boredom in your eyes.
Kirishima went in with an attack but Shishida blocked it. He grabbed Kirishima and threw him, sending him flying. With both of your opponents distracted, even if it was for a split second you acted without hesitation. You flew down to the two with your wings curled to your sides like a shell, helping you move faster through the air. You created a sword hitting Tsuburaba with it in the stomach causing him to crash against a wall knocking him out. Shishida quickly grabbed you after you attacked. You froze him once more but much colder this time and with more pressure in the ice causing him to stay frozen. You squeezed yourself out of his hands while Koda helped Kaminari get back up after being knocked out.
Koda: "You okay Kaminari?" He very quietly asked as his Friend stood up.
Kaminari: "Yeah thanks-" he started to speak still a bit out of it but cut himself off as the ground and buildings quickly started shaking.
With everyone else down that meant the trembling in the ground was from one person, Shiozaki. Her vines came in like a wave, consuming the area and she grabbed Kaminari and Koda, then went for you. You pushed off from the ground, and flew off, before her vines could reach you. Water formed at your sides in the sky and froze into multiple large ice spears. You sent them down to her vines and they cut through, freeing your teammates. You flew off with speed similar to a race car and followed where the vines sprouted from. As you got closer you found Kirishima unconscious tied up in the vines. But kept your attention on your last opponent. She sent out vines through the air right at you but you dodged, without a single drop of sweat. You reached her and froze the vines around her leaving her helpless. You went in to kick her, freezing your leg causing more of a impact. You knocked her back, sending her flying into a wall and now being completely out. With 3 unconscious and 1 in jail your team won! You met with the others as you all started to go back to the stage.
Kirishima: "Wow Toshiko that was incredible!" He said with such enthusiasm in his voice as well as that cheerful smile. "You really carried us back there" he chuckled.
Kaminari: "Yeah your battle skills are great" Kaminari added with that same excited tone his red haired friend held.
You: "Aw thanks you guys but it wasn't anything special. And please call me (y/n)" you replied in a humble tone, softly smiling at them.
They nodded as you all kept walking back. Some of their classmates ran up to all of you congratulating you and your teammates on winning. You rarely received this kind of praise. It was nice but you had no clue how to react to all of it, and it was quite overwhelming. Before being able to thank everyone for their nice words your arm was suddenly snatched away and pulled off by a blonde boy from class 1B.
Unknown: "Toshiko, I saw the way you used your quick, it's not just for long distance fighting like you did in the sports festival. So I have a perfect plan for our team to succeed and beat stupid class A. So explain to me how your quirk works" he exclaimed with a bit of thrill in his voice but mainly seemed completely determined to win the match.
You explained to him exactly what you told Kirishima and the others.
Unknown: "I see, so there are a lot of options for you in battle. That's quite useful I think we'll make a perfect team" he smiled a bit crooked with the perfect plan in mind to beat his rivals.
You nodded and he lead you to the rest of the group. You've always been the kind of person that shuts down at the first sign of kindness or compassion. You were bullied heavily in school, and abused by your parents, so you just don't know how to react when someone treats you with respect or kindness. It feels alien, and you freeze up like a deer in headlights.
Monoma: "This is Yanagi, Shoda, Kodai" he introduced them while gesturing at them. "oh, and I'm Monoma"
Shoda: "Nice to meet ya, toshiko" he greeted you with a warm smile.
You: "Hello everyone, it's a pleasure to meet you" you bowed in a formal greeting. "but please call me (y/n)."
Monoma: "Alright (y/n), then let's get planning!" He said as you all sat down getting ready to discuss your strategy.
Two matches had passed and your team finally came up with a full proof plan. Yanagi, Shoda, and Kodai would fight Ashido and Mineta, Monoma would copy the others quirks, however he couldn't use yours, he said it was a blank but you didn't know what that meant. He would then separate Uraraka and fight her, leaving Midoriya for you. You didn't know much about his quirk but it seemed like a power type like Shishida's quirk, and so you planned to over power Midoriya just like Shishida in the first match.
You didn't care for the other fights but since the planning was done you decided to watched the 4th fight play out. You recognized one of the members of the fight from the sports festival, Bakugo Katsuki. You only remember him because he won but he seemed more composed compared to the last time you saw him. His combat skill were still incredible just like the last time you saw him, and in fact everyone in the two classes were incredible. You started doubting yourself "Could I really reach the level everyone has reached?"Negative thoughts started creeping into your mind as the confidence you once had completely disappeared. A loud buzzer went off snapping you out of your thoughts.
Monoma: "You ready (y/n) our match is beginning soon" he asked as he walked up to you.
You: "Yes!" You replied cheerfully hiding the cracks in your heart with a bright smile.
