"Now…" Mr C said as he picked up a marker, "these are some machine ideas I've had for a while now, and thankfully Betrayus and his army never managed to squeeze 'em out of me."
He began to hastily write on the white board. He was drawing… fruit? "Uh", Radia began, "guess all those years finally made you crack." Pac just stared, his mouth beginning to water at the very idea of fruit.
"Hush up and pay attention."
He continued to draw, adding more little details onto the fruit. Oh! They were vehicles!
"This'n is called the Cherry Copter. This one's the Pineapple Tank. The Pacerchini, the Lemon Rocket, and finally the Pacnana. I dunno if I'll have enough time to make 'em all, but I'll see what I can do. Let's hope the others can scrape up enough materials to work with. Oh! That must be them now."
The others came inside after Radia let them in. They were carrying all sorts of things- scrap metal, nuts, bolts, circuit boards… It was awesome.
"Well I'll be", Mr C exclaimed. "It ain't much yet, but it'll have to do. Good work, all of you. Hey- where's that blue fella?"
"Here", a voice groaned. Skeebo stepped forward, held out his hand, and dropped a single screw onto the pile of scrap.
"What's the big idea", Mr C snapped.
"I can't do this", Skeebo scoffed.
Mr C was stunned, as was everyone else.
"And why might that be", Mr C said, attempting to hold back his anger.
"I don't wanna."
The other resistance members began to whisper and point, all of them in disbelief.
"Then why are you here", Radia said as she began to raise her voice.
"To tell you guys to knock it off! This is a terrible idea!"
"KID! The whole reason you joined us was to get freedom!"
"Look, I don't wanna fight an entire army, I don't wanna fight Betrayus and I DON'T WANNA DIE!"
Radia was absolutely fuming. "Out."
Skeebo just folded his arms. "OUT", Radia said louder.
Skeebo stuck out his tongue yet did what he was told, but not before turning back to Radia and saying "you will regret this."
"Not cool", Spiral mumbled as Cyli scowled.
"I always had a bad feeling about ol' Skeebs, like him being a jerk in school wasn't bad enough", Spiral said.
"And I thought I was awful", Pac chimed in.
Many silent, awkward moments passed before Mr C cleared his throat. "Good work, but I still need more than this. I also need tools. I'd search myself, but I'm kinda a wanted criminal at this point. So go on out and keep lookin'."
"What can I do", Pac chirped.
"Actually, I think you'd be a pretty big help once it's time. You know the Round House better than any of us so you can help us get to Betrayus."
"You know it", Pac said beaming with pride.
"Alright everyone- head on back out while I see what I can do for now. Believe me, once everything is ready we'll give that egg a taste of his own medicine!"
"Inky? Inky it's me! Open up! It's Blinky!"
Blinky continued to bang on the door, but there was no response.
"I… I'm sorry. I just didn't want Betrayus to hurt you. But I guess I did. Things are looking pretty bad. Betty's going off the deep end more than usual, and something big is coming. I can just feel it. I… I'm scared, Inky. I need you."
"Go away", came Inky's muffled voice.
"Okay, how about this? I'm scared for Pac."
"..."
"I've always felt sorry for the poor lemon ball, and I knew the day would come when he found out the ugly truth. He's probably in danger! We have to do something!"
"Why? All he's done is cause trouble for everyone."
"He's just a kid, you know."
"True, but he's still the reason we're all in trouble. Betrayus was FUMING when we told him the bad news."
"Fine, don't come out. But me, Clyde and Pinky are going to do something."
"They're mad at you too."
"Alright, then I'll do something by myself."
Blinky stomped down the hallway. Ever since the day of the execution he had finally seen Betrayus' true wickedness, but didn't defect out of fear of being hunted down. Betrayus didn't take, well, 'betrayal' lightly. He was never truly dedicated to Betrayus' cause anyway; he only enlisted due to his family being poor.
He wasn't lying when he said he felt bad for Pac. He always had. He knew Pac was more than likely in grave danger, especially now that he was working with the enemy. He couldn't stand by and let that boy be harmed or worse killed. He was going to help the poor kid, or die trying.
But where would he start?! He had no idea where the kid and his cohorts were, let alone just how he would go about his plan.
He was so busy stomping and muttering to himself, he failed to notice the commotion of the soldiers around him, although he did briefly hear something about someone being at the entrance of the building. Eh, probably nothing. Oh how very wrong he was…
