Author's Note
Man, this show is great! I'm only on season 2 so, forgive me if I don't do some things right. I had this idea in one of the episodes where Perry was supposed to congratulate Doof for 'being a good guy by saving a cat' so this is what I got so far. I thought it would be funny and I wanted to try my hand at a mystery. I hope you enjoy!
Perry woke that morning when Phineas sifted in his bed. Perry clicked. Phineas rolled back over, looked at Perry, and smiled. "Hey, Perry!" he said joyfully.
Perry clicked again. "Hey, Ferb!" Phineas exclaimed. Ferb rolled over and glanced at his brother. "What should we do today?" Ferb rubbed his stomach. "Yeah we should probably eat breakfast first."
After the boys changed, they both walked out to the kitchen, where Ferb got them both bowls of cereal. "You two better not be up to anything weird today," Candace said suspiciously as she entered the kitchen.
"Good morning, kids," Linda greeted.
"Morning, mom!" Phineas said. "What are you going to do today, mom?"
"I'm going to help you dad with a few things," Linda said.
"And I'm going shopping with Stacey," Candace said.
"Have fun then, dear," Linda said. "I'll be heading out in a few minutes."
"Okay, mom."
Phineas and Ferb finished their breakfast and joined their father in the living room. In there, he was watching a black and white show. "Hey, dad, what are you watching?" Phineas asked. Ferb picked up Perry and put him on the couch.
"I'm watching a spy show. Currently, Professor Bumblebumpter, is trying to investigate a crime scene where a rare, famous piece of jewelry was stolen," Lawrence said.
"Nice! What is he doing?"
"Right now, he's using a ultra violet light to search for hidden clues like fingerprints."
Phineas and Ferb watched as Professor Bumblebumpter shone an ultra violet light on the floor and the glass case that the piece of jewelry was stolen from. He found a fingerprint, slightly faded, and took note of it. "Why is he taking notes, dad?"
"That way he can look back to it later when he has to put his clues together. At the end, he uses all his clues and proof to solve the crime and catch the criminal."
They continued to watch, even after Lawrence left with Linda. Once the show was finished, Phineas looked at Ferb. "Were you expecting the criminal to be his cousin, Ferb?" Ferb replied by shaking his head. "That was great!" He threw his arms into the air and slid down more on the couch. "Hey, Ferb! I know what we're going to do today! We'll become investigators as well!"
Ferb gave him a thumbs up and began to draw on a piece of paper. Phineas looked around. "Hey, where's Perry?"
Perry sneaked past Candace, currently on a phone call with Stacey, slid his hat on, and pushed a platform in the wall. It opened and he hopped inside, before Candace glanced his direction. The wall slid closed and a pipe opened up from the floor, Perry sliding down in it.
He landed on the floor, slightly behind his normal chair so he just walked the rest of the way. "Oh, Agent P!" Monogram exclaimed. "Sorry to bother you on your day off but," he sniffled, "I have very important news for you."
Perry pulled out his notebook and a pencil and prepared for news of Dr. Doofensmirtz again. He was called in a few times on his days off to stop his nemesis so he was prepared to fight him again. "Unfortunately, this isn't about Doctor Doofensmirtz again. I..." he sniffled again. Perry expression showed curiosity and worry. "I have to let you go."
Perry dropped his pencil. "I have to...fire you, Agent P," Monogram restated, hiding back his tears. This time, Perry dropped his notebook. "I have received a video feed of you...joining Doctor Doofensmitz's side for a solid week and...the proof is...too great to resist..." his voice became shaky near the end of his sentence as he held in a few more sniffles. "So...I have to let you go, Agent P."
"I'm sorry, sir," Carl's voice said off camera. Monogram shooed Carl away with his hand. Monogram leaned in closer to the screen. "Unless you can find proof that we weren't the one working with Doctor Doofensmirtz, Agent P," he whispered. "I trust you did the right thing but I can't go against the proof." He looked left then right and continued. "I could get fired for telling you this, Agent P," his whispers grew so quiet, his voice was almost inaudible. "If Carl would to hear this, he would blab on me. Let's keep this to ourselves, Agent P. I trust you will do great and that you didn't join falsely. I bet someone is framing you. I'll send you over a walkie talkie so we could keep in touch if you need it. Don't tell anyone about this, got it, Agent P?"
Perry replied with clicks. "I appreciate it, Agent P. Good luck today." Monogram leaned away from the camera again. "I'm sorry, Agent P. I know this is hard for you. It's harder on me," he said, speaking normally again. "Goodbye, Agent P." The camera blurred out and static covered the screen.
Perry returned upstairs, after grabbing the walkie talkie that rose from a platform in the floor, and removed his hat. "Oh there you are, Perry. We're about to get started on our disguises. Which color do you think will work better. Moss Green or Burt Cacao Beans?" Phineas asked, holding up a dark green fabric and a dark brown fabric. "Should we go lighter for the brown?" Perry glanced at the different colors and then clicked at the dark brown. "Brown? Yeah, I was thinking that too. I wasn't sure if we should keep it dark or go for brighter. Ferb hasn't come back with a sample of the- oh look there he is now."
Ferb approached the two of them with a piece of light brown fabric. He held it up. "Which shade, Perry?" Perry glanced between the two shades of brown before finally settling on the light brown. He clicked his reply. "I thought so. Thanks, Perry." Phineas and Ferb walked away, with the piece of light brown fabric, while Phineas grabbed a tool box on the way out.
"What are you two doing?" Candace said, stopping them in the hallway.
"We're going to be detectives today," Phineas said. "We made you a design too." He held up one of the papers from earlier. On it is a drawn Candace with a detective suit of her own. "Well don't get me wrapped up in your building business today. I'm going shopping with Stacey and if we're lucky, I might see Jeremy there too!" Adding Jeremy's name made her voice dreamy.
"Okay, Candace. We'll make your in case you want to join us. We'll be outside." Phineas walked outside with Ferb and closed the door behind them. "What are you looking at?" Candace asked Perry. He clicked a reply. She huffed and walked away.
Fired? What could Monogram mean? Why was he fired? He needs to see that clip, without getting Monogram fired. He needs to see the evidence. He needs to find the crime and put an end to it.
