That one week in October was too much to bear. I learned of my past and who I truly was in Arcadia Bay. Max was a best friend who I had forgotten about, for the sake of my parents who suppressed my memories of that terrible day. The day William Price tragically dies in a car accident on his way to pick up his wife. I didn't come back to Arcadia Bay for a while after that, five years to be precise. But after those long years, I returned back to attend Blackwell Academy. That's when I saw her, she had a familiar face but I couldn't quite figure out why. Then her and I instantly became friends and sat together in Photography class.
On October 7th, after class Max had left for the bathroom quickly, while I stayed behind in class. I knew Max wanted to be left alone, so I didn't follow behind her. Unfortunately, Max wasn't alone in the bathroom. Nathan had walked in pacing around frantically, talking to himself. The door opened and out came a blue-haired girl, dressed up in punk rock clothing. The girl spoke to Nathan and ended up into an argument between the two. Nathan pulls out a gun, scaring the girl, but then shoots her in the stomach.
Frantic, Nathan leaves the bathroom, however, Max then gains the power to rewind time. She saves the girl in the bathroom before she suffers the same fate, by scaring Nathan with the fire alarm that Max sets off. The girl kicks Nathan and quickly runs out. Nathan follows after as he doesn't want to be seen either.
What neither I or Max were prepared for was the crazy four days to follow, after Max saved that blue-haired, punk girl from being shot. Abnormal weather, whales ending up dead on the beaches, an eclipse, and double moons. Kate almost killing herself by jumping off the roof. And the overall mystery of why such a disastrous storm was going to hit Arcadia Bay by the end of the week.
Chloe, the girl Max saved in the bathroom, was a long time friend of Max, before Max had moved away to Seattle. We later discover that I was also best friends with the two of them, but their memories were erased of my existence. Chloe had been looking for Rachel: a friend of hers and mine, for two years now. Rachel had disappeared back in 2011 and Chloe put missing posters out around town. However, she had no luck, that's when we all deduced that something else was going on in Arcadia Bay.
We started to investigate the school and Nathan's room, after Max stumbled upon files in the garage of Chloe's house. As we gathered evidence from witnesses such as policemen, Nathan, Frank, and anyone else who knew of Rachel. We then connected the dots of drug sales on specific days, license plate numbers, and pictures of places Nathan had taken. All of our clues led us to an old barn outside of town. Chloe drove in her truck and we entered the barn via an exposed hole on the side.
As we explored the inside of the rotting, decaying barn. Max and I stumble upon a hatch that led down into a bunker. There were shelves of canned food and water to last for months, perhaps even years. Behind the plastic curtains was a studio set up: a white backdrop, a tripod to place a camera, and lights shining on both sides. Max walked over to a desk on the other side of the room. She had found binders with girls' names taped on the spine of the binder: Alexis, Crystal, Kayla, and so on. Names that Max and I didn't recognize, but as we continued to look there were three binders that caught our attention. On the three individual binders, the names read as in order: Kate, Rachel, and Victoria.
Chloe grabs those binders and we look inside each of them. Seeing perverted pictures of Kate drugged out of her mind, helpless. Victoria's binder was empty and we assumed she would be the next victim. Lastly, looking into Rachel's binder, same poses and drugged out of her mind like Kate. But the last photo revealed that Rachel was being put into a duggin out hole at the junkyard. The three of us quickly rush back into Chloe's truck, as she drives frantically to the junkyard.
Chloe runs ahead of Max and I, telling us she knows where she's going. We reach the spot and start digging only to discover Rachel's decaying body in the ground. Horrified by the site, Chloe starts to puke as Max and I were there to comfort her. Later that night, Chloe intends on killing Nathan for killing Rachel, who is at the Vortex Club Party. However, we receive a text from Nathan, saying that he's going to destroy the evidence, including Rachel's body. We rush back to the junkyard to find Rachel's body still there, but Max and I are poked with needles in our necks. As we try to warn Chloe, she is shot in the head and killed. Our assailant, Mark Jefferson, our Photography teacher at Blackwell.
Max and I wake up later in the Dark Room. I had been drugged out of my mind and couldn't remember much. I was tied up on the ground next to Max, whose arms and legs were tied down on a chair. We travel through photos to try and find a way out of the Dark Room, and change our past mistakes. Our plan ended up working, Max went to San Francisco and I stayed behind with Chloe. However, that plan also failed as the storm came, even after Max and I fixed everything. Max traveled back through her winning photo and ultimately tore it up to save Chloe. Then the worst possible thing happened, we ended up back in the Dark Room with Jefferson. He had burned Max's journal which contained photos that we needed to fix everything.
Jefferson gave a final lecture to us and walked over to his trolley for a syringe. He filled the syringe with the drug he had been using on us. About to kill Max and then me right after. However, David came in at the right moment and rescued the two of us from Jefferson. We thanked David and lied to him about Chloe being safe, even though she was already dead. We took a car and headed into Arcadia Bay, where the tornado was already affecting the town. Max and I head into the Two Whales' Diner, which was barely holding itself up from the storm.
Warren had an important photo we needed from him the night of the party, and had told Max that he was there at the diner. We took the photo and went back to the night of the party to convince Chloe to stay at her place. Waiting out until David came home from his shift and telling him everything we had found out. Then the three of us end up at the beach, as the storm is out at sea, ready to come into Arcadia Bay. But Max and I were happy that Chloe was alive and well with us.
However, it was only the beginning of this crazy nightmare that followed after. Max and I had passed out then on the beach. Chloe carried the two of us to safety at the lighthouse. As Max and I went through a nightmarish hell that was in our heads. Decisions that led to where we were now, all of our insecurities and thoughts of what people thought about us. All came at us at once, as we had to traverse our way back to Chloe and the storm.
In the end, Max and I escaped but were met with the most difficult choice of all. We either had to risk the whole town of Arcadia Bay to save Chloe, or sacrifice Chloe in order to save the whole town. Max and I didn't want to make the decision, but we were the only two that could. As Max and I looked deeply into Chloe's eyes. It's as if she already accepted her fate before we even made the decision. Max kisses Chloe one last time, as they break apart. I gave Chloe a final hug, tears streaming down our faces. Chloe telling us everything was going to be okay and that she'll always be with us.
Max and I looked at the photo of the blue butterfly that Max had taken in the girls bathroom. As a white light engulfed the two of us and Chloe smiled on as she disappeared in front of us.
