Chapter 1: Shut Out and Left to Die
The rain was pounding on the ground outside of the restaurant. Despite its name it was not common for Hurricane, Utah to get that much rain at one time. Yet, inside of Fazbear's Family Diner it was dry, and everyone was having a good time.
On the show stage the two animatronics were singing the songs that Charlie Emily knew by heart. Still, the young girl sat in a small booth in front of the stage to listen to them like she did every night. Her father, one of the owners of the diner, had given her a slice of pizza to eat, some soda to drink, and a few tokens for the arcade for when she finished eating before he went back to the office. He also gave her something that he had said was very important: a green bracelet.
"Listen to me carefully, Charlie. Do not take this bracelet off," her father had told her after he returned from the office where he worked.
"Why, daddy?" Charlie asked.
"Just please- do not take this off," her father reiterated.
There was both fatigue and sincerity in his voice.
A few days earlier Charlie had overheard her father talking to her mother about how William Afton, his business partner and co-owner of Fazbear Entertainment, had been spending more and more time "working" from his home and not as much time in the restaurant. She assumed that explained that her father seemed more stressed than normal.
Charlie knew that Mr. Afton had seemed sadder recently, but she did not know why. It did seem to be for a reason that affected her father in a very adverse way. She remembered one day she came home from a friend's house and saw her father and mother both crying. She did not ask why but she did overhear something about Evan, who is Mr. Afton's son. It was something like, "What will William do now? Evan was so young". Even though Evan was 2 years older than Charlie they were good friends. Still, she could never understand why he did not like Freddy or Bonnie. Her father's creations were wonderful! It had been a few weeks since she had last seen Evan at the diner. Come to think of it, she had also not seen Elizabeth or Mike, Mr. Afton's other children, for a while.
Charlie got out of the booth to throw away the paper plate and paper cup that once contained food and drink. After she got the trash can she saw three of her friends- Jason, Alec, and Jessica. She noticed that they each had bracelets like the one that her father gave her. Jason's was orange, Alec's was orange, and Jessica had a pink one. She still wondered what the bracelets meant and why they were all different colors. Charlie excitedly walked up next to her friends.
"So that will teach her a lesson," Charlie heard Alec say to Jason and Jessica.
"Yeah," Jessica agreed. She then looked up to see Charlie and seemed very startled.
"Charlie! How long have you been there," Jason asked as all the color flushed from his face. Charlie smiled at her friends.
"I live here," Charlie said with a smile on her face. It was an inside joke that the four of them had. Jessica once asked Charlie how often she comes to Fazbear's Family Diner. Before she could give an answer Alec said that it seemed like Charlie lived in the restaurant. It was only a half joke, however. To Charlie there seemed to be times when it did, in fact, feel like she lived there. Of course, she didn't but she liked to imagine what it would be like to live at the diner.
The three friends seemed relieved to find out that Charlie had not overheard too much of their conversation.
For the next few hours, the kids played some of the arcade games that Fazbear's Family Diner had. There were honestly not too many games- a dancing game, one about a princess who had to collect torches, a hunting game that Charlie really did not like, a basketball hoop game, and one based off a cartoon that Charlie watched sometimes. Charlie's favorite game was the princess one, which was called Princess Quest. While she was playing Princess Quest her three friends left. They told her that they needed to go to the bathroom. Charlie did find it strange that they walked towards the entrance of the restaurant when the restroom was the other way.
When her friends came back, they all seemed very excited about something.
"Charlie, you need to follow us outside," Alec said quickly. Jessica and Jason both laughed.
"What's going on," Charlie asked.
"Follow us and you will see," Jessica said assuredly. Charlie trusted Jessica the most. Jason and especially Alec were known for their pranks. However, Jessica would often try to talk them out of whatever they were planning. So, Charlie decided to go outside with her friends.
She passed a box with another box on top of it. The larger box seemed to be moving very quickly. Charlie took note of that and thought that it was very strange. She knew that the diner was a place where fantasy and fun come to life but that was just something that her father and Mr. Afton came up with to sound fun. Right?
Charlie was in the front of the group as she opened the door. She saw that the bigger box was now shaking violently. This sort of scared Charlie. Yet, she did not stop going outside. Whatever her friends had seen had to be cool enough to justify them coming back to share that thing with Charlie. They were such good friends. They did not want to enjoy whatever was outside without their friend. Just then Charlie heard a sound. It was the sound of the door to Fazbear's Family Diner shutting and locking.
"Guys! What are you doing," Charlie called out.
"You live here, right? Don't you have the key," Jason asked with a smile on his face.
"Yeah, unlock the door, owner's girl," Jessica teased.
"Come on. You know that I do not have the key. It is raining. Let me inside," Charlie cried out. Without saying another word her friends turned around. They started to walk back to the stage where Freddy and Bonnie were singing together. Charlie screamed for them to come back and let her inside again. They ignored her.
Just as Charlie was starting to lose her voice a bright light shone. It was the headlights of a car- a purple car. Charlie knew that car. It was Mr. Afton's car. He had the key to the door. She was saved and just in time. By that time she was beginning to drip with the water from the rain.
