Introduction / Note from the Author
The following is a fan-written alternate ending for the Namco video game Klonoa Heroes: Densetsu no Star Medal, told from Klonoa's point of view. As a fan work, it is not considered canon (thank Claire).
For those who don't know, Klonoa Heroes was the only game in the series where the title character gets a completely happy ending. So, it got me thinking about how the aftermath of the Nahatomb battle would've played out if the game kept up the series' tradition of downer endings.
(Okay, so Moonlight Museum does give Klonoa a happy ending as well, but given that it was a prequel to Door to Phantomile, those who played the latter game know how that turned out.)
With that being said, we enter the story near the end of Klonoa, Guntz, and Pango's fight against Nahatomb within Nahato's Darkness. Thanks to the power of their dreams, and the dreams of their friends (who were currently trapped in nightmares due to Garlen's nightmare mist), Nahatomb has been vanquished, and his Star Medal was nowhere to be seen.
Two important things to note (if you haven't played the game to the end):
- Right before Nahatomb's defeat, our three heroes' medals briefly became Star Medals, signifying them as among the greatest of heroes for just that moment, before reverting back to Gold after the battle.
- When sending their dreams towards Nahatomb, Lolo seemed to be putting in more effort than anyone else… perhaps too much effort…
