Welcome to my story, everybody! This is my first One Piece fic and I hope you all enjoy. I am personally a huge LuNa shipper (remember, to each their own) so I decided to write a fic set after Wano. It takes place a few weeks before the 'next arc' (avoiding manga spoilers for those not caught up or for anime-only fans). I'm not sure how long it will be, but I couldn't help myself after watching Nami call Kaido a lying snake. It was wonderful watching that scene come to life.
*This story will be rated M due to language and sexual content.

"Mugiwara Luffy is dead!"
Nami immediately sits up, beads of sweat rolling down the side of her forehead. She attempts to catch her breath as tears involuntarily spill from her auburn eyes.
After taking a few moments to collect herself, she throws the covers off her body and pulls on a robe while exiting her quarters.
The ship is silent, only the swishing of the waves sounding throughout the deck. Nami tiptoes across the ship, quickly locating Luffy's room.
While taking a deep breath, her lithe fingers wrap around the doorknob before opening the door ever so slightly. She peaks inside and lets out a small sigh of relief when she finds Luffy sleeping, taking solace in the rise and fall of his chest.
Now comforted, the redhead returns to bed and falls back asleep almost immediately.
This goes on for a week straight.
(...)
On the seventh night, Nami opens Luffy's door yet again. However, she wasn't expecting to find him sitting up, almost as if he was expecting her. Her eyes widen, unable to help the shriek that escapes from her lips. Horrified and humiliated, she turns around and attempts to run away.
Her attempt instantly fails the moment she feels a rubber arm wrap around her waist and yank her to his bed. Nami comes crashing down onto the plush mattress, her face a brilliant shade of red. "What was that for?!" She screeches, tempted to whack him upside the head.
Luffy's brows furrow. "Why have you been coming here every night? Do you wanna have a sleepover or something?" The look of confusion is instantly replaced with a giant smile, eyes lit up with excitement.
"No! Baka! I was just, uh…" She stutters, tripping all over her words.
He blinks at her.
"Wait, how did you know I've been coming here every night? You've been asleep."
"Haki, duh! For someone who calls me an idiot all the time, you can be so dumb!" He laughs, slapping her on the back.
Nami scowls, replying by actually hitting him upside the head this time.
Luffy pouts. "Hey!"
"Well! Don't call me dumb." She pokes her tongue out at him, watching as he mimics her.
Nami shakes her head, and she gets up, realizing this conversation isn't getting anywhere.
"I'm going back to bed."
"Wait! You didn't tell me why you keep coming here every night. You know you can sleep in here with me, if you want." He pats the bed beside him innocently.
"I can't do that, Luffy! I swear, you're so dense sometimes."
He cocks his head to the side, a puzzled look painted on his face.
The redhead sighs, knowing deep down inside that she owes him an explanation. She then sits back down, but this time, on the edge of his bed.
Luffy moves to sit next to her, his face hardening when he notices that she's serious and clearly distressed about something.
Nami toys with the hem of her robe, her fingers fidgeting ever so slightly.
"It's only me, Nami." The boy chuckles softly.
She takes a deep breath, mentally preparing herself. Vulnerability has never been easy for the girl.
"I keep having the same dream over and over again…Kaido is telling everybody that you're dead and um…you just never get back up." The redhead sniffles, raising her wrist to her nose to wipe it. "I keep coming in here to make sure you're still alive…to ensure myself that it really is just a dream."
Luffy's eyes soften, knowing very well how it feels to have recurring nightmares of someone you care about dying. Once upon a time, he had many nightmares about Ace too, except when he woke up, his fear had remained true. Ace was—no, is really gone.
The rubber man grabs the infamous straw hat from his nightstand and he places it on Nami's head, watching as she turns her head towards him with an incredulous look etched upon her features. Pink dusts her cheeks, but not from embarrassment this time.
"I get it. I had nightmares about Ace dying too…it's not easy. But hey, you're the navigator to the future King of the Pirates. I'm not going anywhere, not if I can help it!" He offers her a big goofy grin, hoping that she'll cheer up a bit.
Nami removes the hat from her head and holds it against her chest, nodding as his words seep in. He might be an idiot 99% of the time, but he knows what to say when it counts. "Thanks, Luffy."
"Of course! What else are nakamas for? Shishishi."
Her chest tightens a bit at the word "nakama." Yes, he is her best friend, but every now and then, a small part of her wishes they were more. He was the man who saved her, who never gave up on her, and because of that, her feelings for him seem to grow little by little everyday.
"Alright well, I'm gonna go back to my room. Thanks again, Luffy, really." She smiles softly before extending her arm towards him, his hat in hand.
"Keep it for tonight."
Nami chews on her lip, nodding. She then stands up and walks to his door.
"Nami?" Luffy calls out before she exits the room, causing her to swivel her head back around at him briefly.
"If you keep having those nightmares, you're always welcome to come back here. Okay?"
"Okay." And with that, Nami returns to her room, falling asleep with the strawhat clutched tightly to her chest.
(...)
The next morning, Nami quietly enters his room and places the straw hat back on the nightstand before rushing out of there. Then, while waiting for the rest of the crew to wake up, she makes a cup of tea before going into the library to work on a map. It's rare she gets any peace and quiet, and she was definitely going to make the most of it.
Despite her wishes, the silence doesn't last long. The navigator sighs to herself, hearing Chopper, Usopp, and Luffy rough housing loudly on deck moments later.
"Nami-swannnn!" Sanji bursts into the library, clearly looking all over for her. "I made you another cup of tea, my delicate flower."
"Thanks Sanji-san." She replies, grabbing the tea from him while ignoring his usual fawning.
"I'm just about to make breakfast! What would you like?" He stares at her, hearts replacing his eyes.
"I'll take some pancakes." She smiles at him warmly, watching as blood immedately flows from his nose.
"My beautiful Nami-swan!" He calls out as he dances out of the room.
Nami shakes her head, immediately getting back to work.
It takes about 30 minutes before she's interrupted by Sanji's voice yelling out "breakfast!"
By the time she enters the dining room, she notices everyone sitting around the table already, wasting no time to begin eating.
"Oi, Nami! I saved you a spot." Luffy calls out while stuffing his face with a few links of sausage.
Her cheeks flush at the attention as she sits down beside him. She doesn't know what's going on with herself lately. Despite her growing feelings over the years, she's always kept her cool and brushed it aside. However, after recent events, she's become much more aware of the fact that she could lose Luffy at anytime and therefore, has become hyper-aware of her emotions.
Zoro reaches across the table and takes one pancake off a plate placed in the center. Sanji immediately goes up in flames. "You stupid Marimo! Those pancakes are for my lovely Nami-swan!"
"Eh?" The swordsman replies, clearly annoyed with his fellow shipmate. The two of them get up in each other's space, Zoro's hands reaching for his sword's sheathes.
"It's fine, Sanji-san. I can deal with one less pancake. Now quit fighting before I send you both overboard!" She threatens, exasperated by their constant fighting.
Everyone laughs, and Zoro and Sanji separate.
"This breakfast is SUPERRR delicious!" Franky comments while taking a handful of bacon to his mouth.
"I would agree, but I don't have any tastebuds! Yohohoho!" Brook rejoins, guzzling down some milk.
Robin places a hand over her mouth and giggles before sipping her tea.
Nami then grabs 3 pancakes from the stack before drizzling some syrup over them. Luffy eyes the stack hungrily, drool beginning to drip down his chin. Honestly, how did she fall for this idiot?
"It's okay, Luffy, you can have some pancakes too."
Luffy's smile brightens before he grabs the whole plate. He then opens his mouth wide and dumps the rest of the stack down the hatch.
"You're the best!" He says with a mouthful of food.
Seriously, he only has one thing on the mind all the time…and it's not sex like every other young man. Sometimes she wishes he was like normal boy. It would sure as hell make things a little bit easier.
Nami laughs before taking a bite. "Anything for my captain." She winks. Wait, that didn't sound right…not that he'd notice any other implications anyways. Robin looks at her knowingly but remains silent.
(...)
That night, Nami finds herself walking to his room yet again. It's quickly become a habit, needing that reassurance that Luffy is okay and not going anywhere. He died, he actually died for a moment…She almost lost him. He wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for the fact that he ate a certain fruit one fateful day.
Nami opens the door and shuts it behind her, her heart beating erratically. Luffy sits up, rubbing his eyes as he yawns. "Nami? Did you have a bad dream again?"
The navigator nods and approaches the bed nervously. "I'm taking you up on your offer, is that okay?"
Luffy perks up, smiling widely. "Of course it is! I love sleepovers!" He laughs while pulling back the covers.
She bites her bottom lip and sits down on the bed beside him, a foreign feeling invading her body. This is just so…intimate, but of course this bonehead doesn't see it that way. Butterflies erupt as she pulls the covers up and over her waist, but she is hesitant to lie down. She's never slept in the same bed with a boy, after all.
"C'mon Nami, lay down! Unless you want to have a pillow fight or something, shishishi."
"What're you, 12?" She can't help but laugh a little at his ignorance to the situation.
Luffy ignores her, promptly grabbing a pillow and whacking her with it.
"You moron! I never agreed to this!" The milkan hair-colored girl shouts. Regardless, Nami takes her pillow and swings, attempting to hit him back.
They exchange a few blows until Luffy finally grabs her pillow and pulls it, causing her to come crashing down on top of him.
The navigator's eyes widen at their compromising position. Why did she think this was a good idea? Her idiot captain just thinks they're playing games.
"I win." Luffy laughs, staring up at her. Clueless.
Nami huffs and climbs off him, returning to her side of the bed. She then snatches her pillow and places it against the headboard.
"Baka…I'm going to bed now." She repositions the pillow and lays down, her back turned away from Luffy. The captain pouts and lays down too, the front of his body facing her back. Fortunately, there's a healthy gap between their bodies.
"But I was having fun…" He whines.
'That's not the kind of fun people typically have in bed,' she thinks.
She sighs and closes her eyes, ready to drift into a tranquil slumber now that she knows he's very much so alive and safe.
Luffy, however, is now wide awake. As she shifts, a whiff of tangerines hit his nose. He sniffs, realizing the closer he gets to Nami, the more intense the smell becomes.
The raven haired boy then buries his face into the back of her hair and inhales deeply, enthralled by the fact that she smells like the tangerines that she's so fond of. 'Mmm, Nami smells like food…I wonder if she tastes like food too,' he thinks.
Nami freezes in place as she feels Luffy now pressed against her backside, his nose in her hair. Does he have any idea what he's doing?
"Luffy!" Nami shouts in a whisper, trying not to wake anybody on the ship up. "What on Earth are you doing?"
"You smell good…" He trails off, nuzzling deeper. His arms wrap around her frame, yanking her closer. He had no idea she smelled this good.
"Stop it, you moron!" Her heart picks up its pace again, swallowing thickly at his sudden embrace.
"But Namiiiii," he complains, pulling back his nose from her hair. "What happened to 'anything for my captain?' Shishishi."
Her blush turns a darker shade of red. He really has no idea what he's doing to her.
"Do you know how perverted that sounds? Cut it out! People will get the wrong idea."
Luffy laughs and lets go of her. He then scoots back to his side so he doesn't piss her off further.
"Since when have I cared what people think? You should know me better than that."
"I know you don't, that's the problem. Just go to sleep, Luffy."
She keeps her back turned to him, her face still beet red.
"Hmph." Luffy sulks as he stares at the ceiling, arms crossing over his chest in a petulant manner.
Nami sighs before turning around to face him, her mouth in a straight line. "What is it? Why are you pouting?"
"It's a sleepover! I just wanna have some fun before we go to bed." The boy sulks.
She blinks rapidly at him a few times. He really doesn't understand sexual innuendos, does he?
"Again, do you have any idea how bad that sounds? You're such a child!" She grumbles in irritation, wishing he'd shut up and settle down already. She came here for comfort, not to be filled with debaucherous thoughts.
"Bad? How does fun mean bad?" He gives her a perplexed look.
"Forget it." Nami lets out an aggravated sigh before turning her back towards him yet again.
Luffy lets it go after realizing she's annoyed with him, eventually falling asleep after spending 15 minutes or so wondering why that was the case.

Luminous rays of sunshine filter through the curtains, signaling the fact that it's finally morning. Nami is the first to wake, her eyelids slowly opening as she takes in her surroundings, initially confused at the feeling of a foreign bed beneath her body. 'Right, I'm in Luffy's room, not mine.' The redhead processes.
She feels rubber arms around her body, surprised to find that he's deep asleep and cuddled up against her again. Idiot…
Nami panics, unsure of what to do in this situation. She begins to wiggle a bit, attempting to break free from his grasp.
Luffy groans in his sleep, tightening his grip on the redhead and nestling his face into the crook of her neck. "Tangerinessss…" He murmurs, still sound asleep.
She then moves a little more, hoping her movements will wake him up. Despite her efforts, Luffy surprises her when he moans softly into her neck.
The navigator's eyes nearly pop out of her head, finding that something is hardening beneath his waist…and it definitely wasn't armament haki.
She gulps. This really was a terrible idea.
Luffy's eyelids flutter open, astonished to find himself wrapped around her body. His stomach growls, frowning when he realizes he's not actually eating any tangerines.
Nami moves again, ignoring his obvious arousal in hopes that she can sneak back off to her room before he wakes up.
The captain grunts at the friction, his lower half bucking a little unintentionally at her ministrations.
"Nami.." He breathes against her neck. His teeth clench together, a strain present in his voice.
She nearly chokes, flabbergasted that he's now awake and at how his body is responding. It peaks her curiosity a bit, she must admit.
"Luffy…let go of me." She mutters, not sure if that's actually what she wants.
He pulls away and rolls on to his back. "I feel funny."
Nami sits up, unable to contain the gasp that emits from her lips when she sees him pitching a small tent.
"I should, uh, go now…especially before anyone else wakes up."
His brows knit together. "Why? Is it because they'll think we're doing 'it?'" Luffy laughs.
Nami's face burns, horrified at the fact that he can just say something like that so casually. "What exactly do you think 'it' is?" She quirks an eyebrow, skeptical at where his mind is going.
"Sex, obviously." He continues to laugh.
"Stop laughing, moron! Just keep this to yourself." She sighs in defeat, rubbing a hand over her face. Nami then climbs out of his bed and sneaks back to her quarters.
(...)
Nami quickly gets dressed for the day before leaving her room again, shrieking when she finds Robin awake and halfway through a book. "Shit! You scared me… I thought I was the only one up." Nami chuckles and sits in a chair next to the brunette, pulling out a book of her own.
"You're not the only early riser." She smirks, putting the book down. "Why were you leaving Luffy's room this morning?"
Nami's jaw drops, the color of her face now mimicking the shade of a tomato. "You— you saw that?!"
"Oh Nami-chan, I see everything." The older woman laughs at her horror.
"Fine, you caught me. But it's not what you think. We were only sleeping."
"Why not sleep in your own room then?" She offers a shit-eating grin, clearly enjoying this.
"It's just…I've been having nightmares, okay? I keep dreaming about Wano. Kaido keeps telling me Luffy is dead and he never wakes back up." Nami exhales deeply. "And…for the past week, I've been checking to make sure he's still here, still alive. I can't help it."
Robin's smile drops from her face. "Oh, Nami-chan…I get it now. But why did it go beyond 'just checking up' on him this time?"
"He- he told me I could come back anytime if I have another nightmare and I took him up on it. It was just a stupid sleepover."
Robin's smirk returns. "Ahhhh, you like him."
"Robin!"
"What? There's nothing to be embarrassed about, Nami-chan. It makes sense, actually. It's almost natural, after all…given everything you two have been through together."
Nami stares down at her lap, unsure of what to say. Is she really that transparent?
"It's not like anything will ever happen. He's oblivious to this kind of stuff."
Robin giggles, shaking her head. "Oh, Nami-chan…He's not as oblivious as you might think."
And that's the end of chapter one! There's more LuNa goodness to come, don't worry ;) I just hope you all liked it. Thanks for reading!
