After leaving Tokyo, Junior spent several hours swimming through the ocean. He knew where he was going, but he was taking his time, allowing the peaceful quiet of the open ocean to quell the myriad of emotions swirling about in his head. After finally getting those emotions under control, he headed for what he hoped would be his new home, a small piece of land in the middle of the ocean called Adonoa Island.

When Godzilla's meltdown destroyed their old home, Junior discovered this island and hoped that it could replace Birth Island, but he didn't go ashore to see what it was like. He was anxious to find out. After a few minutes, he had arrived. It was now midday and the sun was shining through a thin sheet of clouds. Junior couldn't help but notice just how beautiful the island was in this light. It was rocky with a small amount of trees covering its surface. The dark color of the soil told him that it was volcanic (or at least it used to be.) It wasn't a particularly large island, but it was certainly large enough to accommodate Junior, his father, and perhaps a few more kaiju.

But, as far as Junior knew, he was the last living kaiju on Earth. He had only ever known three, two of which were enemies. All of them were dead. After the emotional trauma he endured the night before, Junior was content with being alone. At the very least, he wouldn't have to worry about anything trying to kill him. That is, with the exception of humans, which Junior had learned to avoid. The only reason he went to Tokyo the day before was because human military forces lured him there in an attempt to attract his father. (Of course, he didn't know that.)

As he came ashore, Junior began to explore his new home. At the edge of the water was a large beach. On the other side was a small swath of tropical forest and two small mountains jutting out of the ground with what seemed to be razor-sharp points at the tops. He ventured between those two peaks and found himself in a grass-covered valley a few miles across, jagged rocky mountains surrounding it on all sides.

This was the perfect home, he believed. The only thing he didn't like about it was the strange smell that filled the air. He had no clue what it was, but he couldn't see anything, so he let his guard down and continued walking. As he headed further into the valley, Junior began to notice signs that he was not the first kaiju to claim this land. Claw marks on a nearby mountain, footprints, and even a whole skeleton from some sort of winged beast made that perfectly clear. As Junior took a closer look at the skeleton, he realized that something about it seemed... familiar.

Then his vision blurred, turned white, then darkened and focused. He saw himself underwater, approaching the surface. Above him was a rocky cliff under a starless night sky. On its edge, a winged reptile stood. Its scales were a light shade of brown. Instead of a toothy muzzle, the creature had a short beak. A pair of horns adorned the back of its head. A pair of beady eyes looked out over the water. He obviously felt threatened by something, but what? Then Junior saw himself fire his atomic breath at the creature, striking the cliff and forcing the creature to take flight.

Then his vision faltered again and he was back in the valley, stepping back in shock. What was that? He had absolutely no idea what just happened or why. All he knew was that it was probably for the best if he continued his exploration. He turned around and noticed a narrow ravine leading out of the valley.

Junior went down this path, which ended a short walk away from a rocky beach. He then noticed that it too seemed familiar. His vision faltered again and he saw himself in battle against the flying beast he saw earlier. During the struggle, he caught sight of a group of humans, one or two of which he recognized, attempting to move a large egg away from the fight. Then his vision faltered once more and he found himself clutching the side of a cliff and breathing heavily. He was beginning to understand.

That egg was his own. The one he hatched from. This island was Junior's ancestral home. But how? How was he able to see himself before he was even born? How did he know that this place was his true home? What he saw was not one of HIS memories. He had no explanation, nor did he have an answer to the multitude of questions circulating through his mind. All he knew was that he was quite exhausted. He felt as if he actually WAS the one fighting that creature.

He went back through the ravine and into the valley, where he laid down to rest. He stared at the skeleton nearby and wondered if it was the same creature he saw in his visions. Knowing that dwelling on these thoughts would keep him awake, Junior turned his head so he couldn't see the remains. Staring into the void that was the entrance to a large cave on the opposite side of the valley, he dozed off, unaware that a pair of eyes was watching him from within the cave's dark depths.

The day's revelations made Junior's sleep quite restless. He kept seeing images, memories, other kaiju he had never seen before. After a while, this passed and he was able to have a peaceful slumber. That is, until it was ended by a terrible nightmare.

He saw himself, the way he looked before his father's death, standing in a vast, empty expanse of darkness. Above him, a storm was brewing, with lightning flashing every few seconds, illuminating the land. Then he heard a roar that sent a shiver down his spine. It was the call of his killer, Destoroyah. Junior turned around and sure enough, there he stood, an imposing mass of red and yellow. Junior turned and ran as fast as he could. Destoroyah bellowed, took flight, and flew after him. Despite his aerial advantage, Junior continued to outpace the demonic creature. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to hide.

Not far away, a huge, thick cloud of fog covered the ground. Junior picked up the pace, hoping that he could hide in there, but he couldn't seem to get any closer. Then he heard it. Another familiar call. His father's. A bright flash of lightning illuminated his silhouette from within the fog. Junior continued to speed up, hoping to reach his father before Destoroyah could catch him. Then Godzilla stepped out of the fog and Junior froze in pure terror.

Soulless yellow eyes stared back at him within a body with sickly green skin and numerous gaping wounds that exposed flesh and bone alike. The creature roared with a high-pitched, distorted version of what Junior heard mere moments ago. The undead beast began to walk toward him. Junior tried to turn and run, but he was frozen in place. Behind him, he could hear Destoroyah fast approaching. As the zombie and demon converged upon him, all Junior could do was scream.

He woke up back in the real world, roaring viciously and firing his atomic breath in all directions, hoping to destroy his attackers. The entrance to the cave collapsed and debris tumbled down from the sides of the mountains. As Junior came to his senses and realized that there was no danger, a loud roar sounded from the cave entrance, now blocked by large boulders and debris. Before Junior had time to react, the wall blocking the cave's entrance exploded outward and a kaiju came charging out.

It rammed into Junior's stomach, sharp horns drawing blood. Then it bit down on his wrist and flung him forward. Just as Junior was about to get up, the creature's foot forced him back down. It roared triumphantly, standing on top of him as if it had just killed him. He could feel the creature shift its weight to look down at him. It sniffed at the wound on his wrist only to jump back in surprise.

Junior noticed too. His wrist was healing, repairing itself before their eyes. The creature screeched, asking "What are you?!" Junior slowly got to his feet, staring at his wrist and replying with, "I'm not sure." "Well what were you thinking, trying to destroy my home?", the creature asked. "Junior stepped back, saying "I'm sorry. I didn't know you lived there. I just... had a rough night, that's all."

"Well," the creature began. "Please try to make sure that doesn't happen again!"

"Don't worry, it won't." And with that, Junior turned around and started to walk away. Behind him, the creature asked, "Hey, where are you going?"

"I don't know," Junior said. "I don't really have anywhere else to go, but I don't want to be a bother."

"You wouldn't be a bother," the creature said. "Heck, I've been alone on this island so long, I'm just glad to have someone to talk to! You could stick around if you want. You look like you could use someone to talk to as well."

That was true. So much had happened in the last day or two and Junior didn't think he could go very long keeping it bottled up inside. Plus, this was the first kaiju he'd ever met aside from Godzilla who actually didn't mean him any harm. The only reason he attacked was because he was defending his home, after all. Junior could understand that.

"Yeah, you're right," he said.

"I've... been through a lot, lately."

"Well, if you need to, we can talk about it later," Junior's new acquaintance said. "But first, I'd like to clear the rubble from around my cave." So he turned around and began to work. Junior had never seen anything like him before and was fascinated by how different they were. The creature was about half his height, possessing a long snout with large teeth, a horn over his nose, and several other horns adorning the back of his head. His body was covered in spikes and armor plating. His tail was long, muscular, and whip-like toward the end. His four feet possessed four claws, those on his front feet being considerably longer than those on the back.

"Excuse me, but what do you think you're staring at?"

"Sorry," Junior said. "I haven't met many others like us. And none of them looked anything like you. You know, I never got your name."

"It's Anguirus. Yours?"

"Junior. Godzilla Junior."
