Authors note: One of the reasons I removed my content on here 2 years ago was because of "rude" people and I am very much tempted to do so again. Please be aware that asking a content creator "When will you update again?" or "Please update." or "Why are your updates so slow?" or "UPDATE!" is highly disrespectful and downright disgusting behaviour. We have personal lives that we must live, and if we don't live our lives, you wont get any sort of update. If you must know, I have been dealing with health issues and that is why my online presence has been minimal. Now, if you weren't previously aware of that, please keep this in mind for future reference when commenting on someone's work.
Another reason, Lotus2109, you didn't have to be a dick and say it like that. A nice person would have said "I noticed that this fic includes A/B/O topics, would you please add it to the description?", doesn't that sound better? I will do as I please with my work and I will not allow anyone to dictate me. You can kindly go and shove it.
Well, here is another update, and depending on how I get treated on here from now on, determines if I'll update again.
Thanks for all the others who have good manners, hope you enjoy!
The morning after a fitful slumber had been a tad hectic, even though it was Izuku's first day off in over a month, but he was determined to finish his residency. He only had two and a half years left for it. He had just finished his thesis paper and just needed to do final editing when he heard a knock on the door. "You can't be serious, first yesterday and now today." He got up from his seat on the floor in front of the coffee table and went to open the door.
"Izu sweetie!" There was a flurry and suddenly he was being hugged and scented.
He slumped in defeat because he knew it was futile to stop the coddling. "Akita, why didn't you warn me you were coming?" He returned the hug. "I could have tidied up a bit."
She pulled back and stepped inside. "Oh pish tosh, we used to live in the same room together, I'm quite used to your mess."
He sighed as he closed the door. "Still, a warning would be nice, I'm busy with my thesis."
She kicked off her shoes then grabbed his wrist and pulled him further into the apartment. "Then you would have not allowed me to come and we both know that." She shoved him down onto the couch and sat next to him. "So a surprise visit is the only way I'm going to see my favorite green bean."
He rolled his eyes at the nickname but pulled his legs up and leaned against his friend nonetheless. "So to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit?"
"Well, I got an offer to work for a new company and I don't know if I should take it or not. I am hoping you would be able to work through the contract with me. I want to see if there is anything I should be worried about, but we can do that later, I want to spend some time with you as well." She pulled him into a side hug. "I miss you and you're always so busy all the time."
"Well I might become a little more busy from now on…"
She craned her heck to give him a suspicious look. "Did you get a boyfriend?"
He spluttered out a laugh. "No! Denki asked me something but you have to keep it a secret."
"Honey, how do you know me?" The look she gave was unimpressed.
"Yeah yeah I know, nothing leaves your lips ever, whatever." He took a deep breath. "He asked me to be his Birthing Omega."
She looked down while she sat and thought about what he said. He could practically hear the gears in her head turning and then suddenly her face was bright with mirth. "Denki's pregnant!?" She excitedly hugged him, her body vibrating with excitement. "Oh I'm so happy for him!"
He laughed at her reaction, feeling excited himself. "Yep, and he wants to see who will figure it out at his next pack gathering so only myself and Hitoshi know, well you as well now, but you don't know the rest of the pack."
"I wouldn't say anything anyway, but I've been thinking of taking up Denki's offer to meet his pack, we should do that together."
His excitement died down at her words and he worked to school his scent to neutral - a necessary exercise, even with scent patches. "You know I can't do that Akita, so don't ask me."
She let out a deep sigh. "Oh come on Izu, you don't even know if he is the same anymore, he could be a better person now. I mean I hear a lot of good things about him on the news and TV shows. He might even apologize to you."
He shook her arms off him, stood up abruptly and walked to the kitchen. "I don't care if he has changed or not, I don't want to see him, so stop asking me." He put on the coffee machine roughly, water sloshing dangerously against the sides.
She had followed him, and the look on her face was that of sympathy. "Izu, you need closure. Even if he didn't change or didn't apologize, you need to find out why he did what he did. Otherwise you are going to keep blaming yourself when it most likely isn't your fault." She stood next to him and nudged his shoulder with her own. "Remember what Dr. Shishiki said, `It's not about him or what he has done, it is all about you and what you need and you need closure so you can finally move on from this whole story.'"
He rubbed his face with his hands in exasperation. He knew she was right, he knew he needed to confront his demons so that he could finally let go and live his life without this proverbial cloud hanging over his head twenty-four seven. He knew that asking Katsuki was the only way he was going to get answers, but he was scared. He shifted from foot to foot, fiddling with the hem of his shirt.
He was scared to find out if what happened was truly his fault even though so many said that it wasn't. He didn't want to face the Alpha and have all his fears confirmed. However, he knew he couldn't keep running away, one of his closest friends was in a pack with Katsuki and it was only a matter of time before he would run into him. It won't stop him from trying to keep that eventual meeting from happening, he should have at least seven and half months before Denki gives birth.
"I get it Akita, I know that I will eventually run into him, heck, maybe even treat him as a patient one day, but I want to do it on my own terms. He doesn't even know I'm friends with Denki and none of the other pack members have mentioned me to him because Denki asked them not to." He watched as the coffee dripped into its pot, finding it much easier to focus on that than think about the consequences of having his fears confirmed. "I just need time, okay, that's all I'm asking for, please."
"I get it Izu, truly I do, and just remember, no matter what happens, Denki and I will always be here for you, even Hina and Banri." She pulled his arms to her and enveloped him in a hug. "Don't ever forget how much we care about you. We love you Izu."
He melted into the hug, feeling the tension leave his shoulders. "I love you guys too, and thank you."
Suddenly she pulled back and smiled at him. "By the way, guess who got a date with a sexy Alpha!"
He couldn't help but smile back, her energy was infectious. "Let me guess, you?"
She squealed as she shook him in excitement. "YES! It's on Saturday! I finally had the guts to ask Himari to court me and she said that she had planned on asking me Saturday but because I asked her, she said we can have our first official courting date on Saturday because she already had it all planned!"
"I'm really happy for you Akita, but don't forget, she better treat you well." His voice had taken on a dark edge at the end of his sentence, leaving no place for an empty threat.
Akita rolled her eyes. "Yes mother, I'll make sure she treats me right and I won't stay out past my bedtime," came her sarcastic reply.
"I'm serious Akita, she will not survive if she hurts you." He was adamant to get his point across.
"Don't worry Izu, I'm a big girl, I can handle myself." There was a glint of mischief in her eyes. "I can also bite really hard."
That caused him to let out a surprised laugh. "Don't I know it! I vividly remember the man's face when you bit him."
"Yes, well, he shouldn't have touched what didn't belong to him. Touch and I bite. So don't worry, I won't go past first base on the first date."
He felt his face heat up at the insinuation. "Akita! I do not need to know that! Please don't ever say that again!"
She laughed at his embarrassment. "Oh my innocent little green bean, one day you will learn the joys of the sensual touch…"
He covered his ears and refused to listen to her scandalous talks of her idea of "romance". It was mortifying. "La la la la la la I can't hear you! NO! I will not hear you!"
He could hear her laughter through the fingers covering his ears, and see the tears gather in her eyes from her exuberant laughter.
Sure he knew how it all worked and knew what to expect from such an encounter, but unlike Akita, he was still a virgin and didn't think it would change any time soon.
She reached for his hands and a tug of war ensued. "Come on Izu! You can't avoid it forever!"
"Nooooooo! I can and I will! My will is stronger than you think!" The scuffle for his hands continued until they were wrestling for the upper hand.
"I will get you to pop that cherry of yours one way or another!" She pinned his arms to his side.
"I like my cherry, thank you very much!" He was unable to get his arms free with her using her keeping a death grip on him to keep his arms pinned.
"Just imagine it, Izu, some hunky Alpha coming to you, courting you, kissing you…" She leaned down closer to him with an evil smile. "...touching you, feeling you…"
His face could put a hot stove plate to shame at this point. "Akita! Staaaaaaaap!"
She cackled and released him. "You're so fun to tease, it's basically my hobby at this point.
"It's not basically, it is, period!"
"Is it really your goal to become a spinster or are you just scared you're too broken again?"
He rubbed his arm, unwilling to look her in the eyes. "It's not that simple okay…"
She huffed out a breath. "Izu, I want you to be happy, I don't want you to end up feeling alone in any way. Friendship only goes so far, you need a partner, I know it's what you want…" She lifted a hand to point a finger at him when he tried to argue. "...and don't deny it. I know you better than you might think. You think I don't see how you look at other couples with that longing and wistful look on your face? Well I do see it and I want you to have that, I just wish you could want it as well."
He kept quiet at her words. Once again she had seen right through him and it unnerved him somewhat. Sure he loved her as he would a sister, family, and he was glad she was always there for him when he needed her, but he wished she wasn't so perceptive, he just wanted to be able to hide parts of himself that he wasn't ready to face yet.
"Anyway, I just came here to tell you the good news and check up on you. I hope you have been looking after yourself and giving yourself a break when you need it. I need to get going. I'll send you an email with the contract when I get home." She pulled him into one last hug, giving him another scenting, and he returned it.
"Thank you," came his quiet whisper. "I'll think about it a bit more, okay?"
She pulled back to smile at him. "That's all I ask. I just want you to be happy! You're my family and I want my family to be happy."
He nodded then walked her to the door. "Thanks for stopping by, let me know when you get home."
She patted his cheek. "Let me know when you're off again and we can go spoil ourselves okay?"
"Sure." With that she left, leaving Izuku to think back on their conversation. He made his way to his kitchen to grab a mug and pour himself a cup of coffee that he had forgotten about.
She might be right that he wanted to have that, but only because he wanted his own family. He wanted to be able to love a little one of his own, but that didn't mean he had to have a partner for that. That's what artificial insemination was for. If his mother was able to raise him alone…
His mind stopped at that moment, because the truth was she was able to raise him alone, but not well. He thought back to when the bullying had started and how she saw the signs and didn't know what to do about it. Was he willing to do it alone? Would he be able to handle the same situation should it happen to his own pup? He didn't know if he could, for all he knew, he would be worse.
He shook his head, this wasn't the time to be thinking about it, he needed to finish his thesis. With that he sat back at the coffee table and got to work.
The next week had been a much more calm week for him at his work, able to get in a proper breather after they hired more interns. He was able to get an extra day off that week and decided to go shopping for a gift for Denki and his pup.
He was currently in a baby store that had bright pastels everywhere, making his eyes smart with how bright it was. He stared at a pair of booties and contemplated if he should get a pair because he didn't even know if newborns wore shoes. They didn't start walking until they were at least a year old. As he was turning away to look at something else, something caught his eye, a shock of blonde spiky hair over the isle. He blinked in confusion, not sure why it would catch his attention.
The spiky hair started moving down the aisle and looked to make a turn around the aisle to walk into the one he was in. When he got a look at the face belonging to the blonde, his blood ran cold and he let out a squeak in shock.
The sound caught the attention of the blonde, looking up and catching Izuku's eyes. The shock mirrored his own and it looked as though all the blood had drained from his face.
There stood Katsuki, wearing civilian clothes, with a mask and cap to try and hide his identity. However, Izuku would never forget those piercing red eyes. It didn't matter how much he had changed or grown, it was difficult to forget your tormentor. He would be able to spot the Alpha from a mile away.
"...Iz…Izuku?" The voice was strained and disbelieving.
In a panic, Izuku turned around and ran from the store. He could hear the blonde chasing after him and sped up, hoping his legs would be able to carry him away from the blonde, but he wasn't fast enough.
When he reached the corner of the intersection, an arm grabbed his elbow and pulled him to a jerking stop. Without thinking he turned around and let his hand swing, slapping Katsuki across the face. The Alpha let go of his arm and looked at him with bewildered shock with what Izuku thought could maybe be remorse, but as far as he was concerned, Katsuki never felt remorse.
He took a step back. "Izuku please…"
"NO!" Izuku screamed. "I don't want to hear anything from you! Just leave me alone!" He turned around once more and hastily made his way home. He heard Katsuki calling after him, but not following. He refused to turn around and look at him, scared his resolve would crumble and become a snivelling mess. He wanted to get back home before he started crying.
He never expected he would run into Katsuki this soon. He expected to at least have some time before that encounter had to happen. His heart was beating erratically in his chest and he was on the verge of hyperventilating. Seeing Katsuki again for the first time in years brought forth emotions he was unprepared for. Fear, sadness, shock, agitation, anger and confusion were the emotions swirling in his chest. He was unable to discern the one from the other at this point, everything feeling like a jumbled mess and causing havoc in his heart.
He needed to get home…
