Chapter 10: Academy Arc Part 3
Naruto was bored, his time spent in the academy, while fruitful, was just not enough stimulation for him, Even with the addition of a new subject: Genjutsu, it was still relatively easy for him to get a grasp on the subject, since he received permission to learn both the 'Tree Walking' and the 'Water Walking' chakra control exercises bumping his total Chakra Control to 40% which was a massive win in his eyes, and sure the Taijutsu Tournaments and Shoji matches were fun, Naruto needed something else, something more exciting, to have him use every ounce of skill he possessed and what better way to do that than a Dungeon he found in a room of the Academy.
Academy Dungeon
A dungeon in which you will find enemies different from the ones you have faced in the past, with previous rules such as enemies having levels five above you is now changed to all enemies having levels five to ten above you. Bosses are ten to fifteen levels above and the Hidden Dungeon Boss is fifteen to twenty.

Naruto discussed this with his girls and they carefully decided on how to make sure no suspicion would be on them once they exited the dungeon bruised and battered. Sumire suggested entering the dungeon when they would be in the bathhouse, and since time doesn't flow in the dungeon, nor is it required for them to be in the Academy to enter the dungeon since Naruto could access it from his dungeons tab in the menu, Naruto felt that it was an excellent idea and decided to attempt the dungeon a week before his birthday which was only ten days away.

Three Days Later
Naruto and the girls had prepared themselves; stocking up with kunais and shuriken, as well as their weapons tailored to them, gifts given to them by Kushina and Minako before they left Uzushiogakure, chakra-enhanced claws for Wasabi, with abilities ideally suited to enhance Wasabi's overall skill, Sumire received a mask, a pure white mask with demonic horns protruding from the top, and Namida received a blowpipe and a jug filled with solution to create bubbles.
They were ready, and just as planned they made the excuse of freshening up and entered the bathhouse, setting aside their extra clothes and completing a last-minute check on their gear, Naruto pressed the 'Academy Dungeon' option and all four were transported to the outside of the Academy. Instead of the boundary of the dungeon being trees, as in the previous dungeon, the Academy Dungeon had a literal glowing border with lines going all across it, forming squares and while see-through made everything on the outside black and white.
The Academy was large; consisting of multiple buildings all connected to one main building called the hub, and each building had its use and purpose, such as 'The Hub' contained everything about the students and faculty, any admissions to be made, the Academy's finances and budget. Still, more importantly, it was where the graduation test took place, and where the Rookie and Kunoichi of The Year received their headbands personally from the Hokage. For the five years of education that the students would complete, they created five separate buildings, each smaller than the next, for example, the building for Year 1 is the largest a lot of potential SHinobi are admitted, and in those five years, as the weeds are removed, the space required also decreases, so the final year of the Academy barely has a dozen or two dozen students when compared to the first year.

"Girls, stick close to me, until we know what enemies we are facing, I will not allow you to explore freely. I will take the lead, Wasabi-Chan, behind me, Sumire-Chan and Namida-Chan, each of you beside me." Naruto ordered and the girls followed. The group entered the building, Naruto's sensory abilities unable to reach out, and scout within the building itself, a form of a barrier surrounding it, disrupting his reach, so they went in blindly and almost immediately they were attacked saved only by the precautionary clones that Naruto had created the instant his instincts triggered of the incoming attack.
The clones bodied the attack, exploding on contact, the smoke providing excellent cover for the girls and Naruto to counterattack, as they swiftly dealt with the attackers and pulled back, Naruto's clones covering their retreat, bursting through the Academy doors, sealing the exit behind them.
"Hmmm, that was interesting; our enemies attacked us immediately, and I could barely sense them. Girls, I have a plan, and it involves us separating and covering different parts of the Academy but don't worry, I will have my clones accompany you, besides, I'll still know your location regardless. The chokers I gifted you act as locator beacons, so if you are ever in any trouble, pulse some of your chakra through it, and I'll come to you as fast as I can. Sumire-Chan, Namida-Chan, you two are together and I'll have four clones with you, and Wasabi-Chan, you'll also be with four of my clones. I'm giving you an hour, defeat as many enemies as you can, and we'll meet up right here. And don't worry, the enemies will be fairly easy to defeat, so calm yourselves and don't rush into battle."

The girls were, suffice it to say, tired, and while Naruto expected them to be, the way they panted and were lying on the ground taking in deep breaths of air made Naruto regret taking them along, but also made him think. 'This shouldn't have happened. My girls are way stronger than any of the enemies here, they should be able to dominate any who came in their way.' Naruto paused as he created clones that helped the girls move into a sitting position, rubbing their backs in soothing motions. 'Have I overlooked something, are they not capable, no, that's not it, they have plenty of experience in fighting opponents stronger than them, mainly me, but still, I don't pull my punches? Wait! Didn't the description also have a debuff tab on it? Damn it! I completely overlooked it!'

"Damn it!" His frustrated exclamation startled the girls who looked at him in surprise, curious to know what brought about his reaction.
"What's wrong, Naruto-Sama?" Wasabi inquired as she shakily stood up, Naruto's clone supporting her, "Is everything alright?"
"No, Wasabi-Chan." Naruto sighed, "Everything is not alright, and no, it isn't your fault, all I need is some time to think and we'll continue with the dungeon." 'In situations like these would the stat points be helpful, but that debuff is in the way, and unless I find a way around the debuff, I'll have to send the girls back, and they won't be too pleased with me once I complete the dungeon by myself.'
"Girls, listen up, we have a problem on our hands; this dungeon has a debuff, and it has been placed on the three of you, reducing all of your stats to the current lowest stat you have. And while I could use our saved stat points to increase the lowest stat, I have decided not to, and I will send all three of you back, and I will complete this dungeon myself." Naruto raised his hand to stop the girls from complaining, "But, I will also let you complete the dungeon on your own so that the dungeon's debuff isn't applied on anyone and so you can gather more experience to make yourself not as much reliant on me, for situations I won't be around. So for now, I will be sending you back, and with how the dungeon mechanics work, as soon as you three get back, I'll be there a second later."

'Now that the girls are gone, let's return to work.'
Naruto had a plan in mind and it all revolved around the gift Mito had given him; to be able to communicate with him even from such long distances, Naruto, with her help, had been able to make those seals as well, with the chokers he gifted to his girls the product of it. Since he had a communication seal on him, therefore, his clones did as well, so all he did was relax while his clones went out and levelled up his skills, especially in Kenjutsu and Taijutsu, since he was satisfied with the level of his Ninjutsu in each of the five chakra natures.
Sure enough, Naruto soon started receiving notifications of enemies being killed and his eyes flickering with satisfaction seeing the number go up for another hour straight reaching seventy with multiple messages of his skills levelling up but frowned as the number started trickling and memories of his shadow clones returning, Naruto stood up, very much perplexed since even this shouldn't be happening; his stats alone should be enough to give him an advantage, whatever the situation, so what now.
"Damn it! This is a problem, if the girls are with me, they have a debuff on them, if they are not, then I'm the one with the debuff." Naruto muttered, glaring at the bolded debuff in front of him.

1 If the Gamer brings no companions, his stats will be restricted to remain at 100, except for Chakra, Vitality, Intelligence and Wisdom for the duration of the dungeon, and this debuff cannot be removed until the Gamer exits the dungeon. Also, any buffs that the Gamer could have on him through his Taijutsu or Kenjutsu are also not applied.
'So all of my stats are 100 other than my Wisdom, which was 45, Chakra and Vitality, but funnily enough, I don't feel all that different. But talking to myself won't help anything, the most I can do now is to complete the dungeon relying not on my stats but on my skills. Hmph! At least it'll be fun.'
Naruto ventured forward, blitzing through the empty rooms where his clones had previously cleared of enemies and used his sensory abilities to guide him towards the nearest enemy which led him through a series of corridors and ended in a circular hall with eight other aisles including the one he entered from. The hall was dimly lit and just like the exterior of the Academy, his sensory abilities could not see what lay at the end of the corridor. So, with all things considered, Naruto felt that it was a trap and what better than to spring it?
Naruto stepped forward, his guard up, but it wasn't enough to prepare him for the gut punch and he bent over, spittle flew from his mouth as he desperately grabbed hold of the arm responsible, his mind racing, his only thought was to pull away from the attacker, hopped in the air and aimed truly as his target's hand was wrenched away from him sending him flying into the wall. He gasped in relief, glared through watery eyes and used 'observe'.

'How did he sneak up on me, my sensory abilities would've warned me about any incoming attack, and if he had hidden himself beforehand, why can I sense him now?'
Naruto didn't let the shinobi regain his balance and rushed ahead, rapidly closing the gap, his Katana in his hands glinting as the dim light bounced off it, his cold face reflected on the blade. Slashing downwards, aiming to cut straight down the middle and if it weren't for his Katana he would've never noticed that he was being flanked by two other shinobi armed with kunai, his sensory abilities failing to sense the enemy.
Side-stepping letting both shinobi go past him and jumping backwards, a low growl emitting, he once again used 'observe' but instead of any description, a box appeared.

'Really, first I couldn't sense him, now his buddies show up, and I can't even sense them, and what kind of a name is 'Trio De Dangers', it's ridiculous is what it is. But never mind the name, three enemies at once, all relatively with the same stats as the first one, and with the debuff on me...I'm in trouble. I need to take them out in surprise and finish it quickly.'
Naruto eyed the three warily, their odd appearances as well as their ability to disappear without a trace placed him on edge, but relying on his instincts had gotten him through some tough situations, so all he needed to do was to trust himself and let loose. He took a step forward and it was all that was needed to trigger the trio to attack; each leaping in different directions, surrounding him in a triangle formation, their guards up, and the one who first attacked him, who he presumed was the leader, had nothing but a kunai out, while the other two both had a tanto.
Wasting no time, Naruto locked eyes on the one in front, flinging a kunai towards him and sprinting immediately after, the kunai acting as a sufficient distraction as he twirled around, his Chakra chains enveloping the shinobi completely, his Katana barely holding back the weight of the two kunai pushing him down to his knees but by enhancing his arms with Chakra, he was able to push them off, sweep their legs from under them and scissor kicked one of them straight into the other.
Commanding his chains to crush his enemy, blood spurting out from the small chinks in the cage, the chains unwound to reveal nothing but tattered clothes and a mixture of blood and muscle covering the chains which soon disappeared into dust.

'Well, look at that, it seems that Chakra Chains are the way to go.'
Naruto felt a surge of chakra from the direction the two remaining shinobi were, and his eyes widened as a huge wave of water was rushing towards him, small flickers of electricity surging through it, he quickly went through a couple of hand seals, 'Earth Flow Wave' and the ground beneath him erupted colliding with the river stopping it in its path.
The flow subsided and Naruto poured his chakra into the remaining earth, his hands forming the snake hand seal, 'Earth Flow Spears' on the off-chance that they remained where they were and were in the range of his jutsu. Naruto heard a small 'shick' from behind him and his chains leapt into action, deftly grabbing onto the tantos, wrenching them from their grip, as well as attempting to pierce the two shinobi straight through the gut. Still, they were able to wedge two kunai into the chain links, using the momentum to launch themselves into the air, swiftly manoeuvring through hand seals, inhaling and exhaling out huge swathes of fire while the second one supported with a gust of wind propelling the fire to even further heights.
Naruto quickly hid underground using 'Hiding like a Mole' and sent a decoy shadow clone, before launching himself above, letting his clone take the brunt of the damage, surprising one of the shinobi, slashing his neck with his Katana and gaining another 5000 EXP. The remaining shinobi was now cautious as it stayed far away from Naruto, out of range of his Katana and chakra chains. Hence, Naruto decided to instead take the battle to him, using 'Swamp of The Underworld' to deter him from moving and enhancing his legs with chakra giving him a quick burst of speed taking the shinobi off-guard slicing his head off and completing the mission, receiving another 5000 EXP in the process.

"So 15000 EXP and 'Restriction'. What even is that?" Naruto tapped on the word and a description popped out.
'Restriction' is an in-game ability that allows the gamer to restrict his stats to certain criteria such as Civilian: 1-20, Genin: 21-50, Chunin: 51-100 etc. The gamer can also restrict the stats of his companions as well. For defeating the Mini-Boss the Debuff has been removed but will be placed back if the Gamer leaves the Dungeon.
"Tsk! I still can't bring the girls back. Whatever, I'll complete this Dungeon myself."
The rest of the Dungeon was a breeze for Naruto, without the debuff on, the enemies didn't stand a chance until he defeated the final enemy and triggered the Dungeon Boss to appear transporting him to where the Dungeon Boss was located; back in the hub.
The Dungeon Boss was an eyesore, with scars littering his body, his face deformed, a bulbous nose, red eyes and rippling muscles, he would give anyone nightmares, and with three lackeys surrounding him, the Mini-Boss; the 'Trio de Dangers', it was going to be a troublesome battle indeed.

'Slightly slower than his lackeys, but extremely strong, and could probably withstand multiple attacks with how high his Vit is...so then, the plan is simple; defeat or incapacitate his lackeys and then fully focus on him...easier said than done.'
"So," The Boss started, "You are the annoying little brat who was able to defeat my team."
"They were weak, pitiful shinobi who failed to put up a decent challenge, but I hope you would at least exceed my expectations and make me break a sweat, and if you do that I'll give you a mercifully quick death." Naruto taunted and it worked magnificently, the 'Trio de Dangers' picking up on the bait, charging Naruto only seeing red while the Dungeon Boss fruitlessly attempted to calm his team.
It was over in an instant; a quick burst of speed, three flicks of his Katana and three heads rolling their way to their leader, as their bodies lay limply on the ground.
"Very anti-climatic don't you think? Charging in with such bravado, such arrogance, and look at them now, dead beneath my feet, you are a pathetic leader." Naruto once again taunted but unlike before, the Boss did not take the bait and stood his ground, growling menacingly, his chakra flaring up as lightning crackled around his skin, his muscles tensing, yet did not move from his position. "Oh what's this, a lightning-style user, using a very familiar jutsu, so why not do the same." Naruto's body crackled with electricity, his hair rising due to the static and he covered his Katana with lightning, with the blade now humming with power. "Now then, entertain me, before I get bored and chop your head off the same way I did for your team."
And that was what pushed the Boss over the edge, "Remember my name, boy, Ryu Doragon, the person who will cut you down." The ensuing battle was fierce and destructive, their lightning cloaks scaring the walls and the ground, steel clashing against steel. Neither had the advantage and while Naruto was holding back considerably with his base stats still comfortably higher than Ryu's, to give Ryu the impression that they were equal in strength is why he used 'Lightning Release: Overdrive' and it worked if only for a few minutes.
The hindsight Naruto had was that he didn't change his expression to convey the feeling of struggle, and it remained as if he didn't feel the pressure in the slightest which Ryu picked up on and redoubled his efforts to break through Naruto's guard, yet even then he failed and only succeeded in tiring himself out. The two separated with Ryu glaring menacingly, "Boy, why do you hold back? Do you wish to insult me? If you have any honour in you come at me with your full strength, and if I die, then so be it!"
Naruto shrugged thinking to himself why not, so he calmed himself down lowering his chakra and dissipating the lightning surrounding him, his eyes closed and in one fierce pulse, his chakra soared and he called upon the Kyubi's Chakra; his eyes red, pupils slit, canines growing into fangs and nails growing into claws, dense red chakra covered Naruto, with a single tail forming at the base of his spine. Naruto revelled in the fear he witnessed which grew with every passing second, the shaky trembles of Ryu as he was pushed down to one knee, the pressure that the chaotic chakra exerted was simply too much for Ryu.
"Your arrogance is what has led you to this, on your knees, your eyes begging for forgiveness, but I don't do forgiveness Ryu, I am a Shinobi, and you are my enemy." Naruto gruffly spoke slowly walking towards Ryu who was petrified, "And now, you're going to die, and I won't even bat an eye, so say your prayers, Ryu, 'cause you won't be getting another chance."
Naruto rested his Katana on Ryu's right shoulder, the blade's length pointed towards his neck, he bent down close to his ear and whispered, "Buh bye." And one flick later, his head dropped to the floor, his perpetual fear plastered on his face. Naruto released the Kyubi's chakra surrounding him, thanking the Kyubi for lending his strength and then read the notification that popped up.

'That's neat, so from just one Dungeon I received 30000 EXP from completing the quest, another 15000 EXP from defeating the Mini-Boss, another 15000 EXP from defeating the Dungeon Boss and finally 25000 EXP from defeating the 100 enemies, so in total 85000 EXP, and that's without counting the fact if there is the 'Hidden Dungeon Boss' but I doubt it.' Naruto closed the notification and exited the Dungeon, appearing in front of the girls as he had expected; the girls were still tired from their excursion with him to the Dungeon.
"Oof!" Naruto was pushed down, his sight blocked by his girls' teary-eyed faces and immediately went to apologize; hugging them close and kissing their cheeks which fortunately calmed them down. "To be honest girls, even I struggled in the dungeon and if I had brought you along you three could've gotten seriously hurt, so I wasn't going to risk that, but I promise that you'll have a chance to complete the dungeon, but once I'm sure that you could handle the enemies. Ok?" They reluctantly nodded but still did not loosen their grip on him.

A Few Months Later
Naruto was in the Academy and this was one of the rare days he was excited about being there since today was the day they would be tested to see which shinobi field are they most suitable for and the test would include both written portions as well as physical. Currently, Iruka was explaining that they would have to choose at minimum three subjects or a maximum of five after they had given the test to see where they would most likely thrive.
"You see," Iruka explained "When you receive your results, you will be given options from a variety of courses such as; Genjutsu, Iryojutsu, Fuinjutsu, Kenjutsu, Bojutsu, and Barrier Ninjutsu, that is of course if you pass all the requirements for the subject as if you don't you certain courses would not be available to you, whereas some subjects such as Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Shurikenjutsu and Genjutsu would remain a compulsory course for you to complete. Yes, I said Genjutsu twice because regardless if you don't choose Genjutsu as a specialisation, we would still teach you the basics of Genjutsu and how to defend or resist its effects. And since you would be specialising in specific courses, you will be taught by different teachers who are experts on said course and can teach you effectively. Do you have any questions?"
Sarada raised her hand, "Iruka-Sensei, say, for example, after I complete the aptitude test and the result stated that I was not qualified for a certain course, but I wished to take the course, is there a way to take a trial course in which you can see if I'm capable or not regardless of results in the test."
"An excellent question, for which an answer I do not have. I shall come back to you after I discuss this with my superiors. Any other questions? No? Well alright then, I shall be giving you fifteen minutes to spend however you like, after that I will be handing out the test."
A Week Later
"OK everybody, your results have come in, and I shall be calling your name and handing you a piece of paper in which the courses you can take are listed down, which you will take home and discuss with your parents or guardians."
After a few minutes, everybody received their results and went home, talking excitedly back with their parents about what they might get and what they would choose.
At the Hyuga Compound
"Alright, one by one, I want you to unfold your piece of paper and read out what your result is. Hinata-Chan, let us start with you."
"Hai, Mother.!" Hinata slowly unfolded her paper and calmly read out her result, "I passed the requirements for Genjutsu, Iryojutsu, Fuinjutsu and Kenjutsu."
"Hinata-Chan, what courses would you like to choose?" Hitomi's kind and encouraging voice rang out.
"I am thinking of choosing all four of the suggested courses, and my reasoning behind it is that Hyugas are typically associated with using only Taijutsu, but since I would choose Genjutsu and Kenjutsu, I would have other options if my opponent has way better Taijutsu than me. Iryojutsu simply because I would like to be able to heal my bruises and cuts, but my reason for choosing Fuinjutsu, is something I'd like to keep a secret." Here, Hinata subtly glanced toward Naruto, an action that Hitomi and Hiashi noticed.
'Kawai! Hinata-Chan has a crush on Naruto-Kun. My little girl is growing up.' Hitomi's expression remained unchanged, nodded to Hiashi who acknowledged the gesture.
"Hanabi-Chan please read out your result."
Hanabi swiftly opened her paper, and she quickly read the result before announcing, "I passed the requirements for Kenjutsu, Bojutsu and Barrier Ninjutsu," and stayed silent, her brows furrowed in concentration, Hitomi and Hiashi noticing the telltale signs of her being deep in thought also stayed quiet, letting Hanabi speak when she felt ready. "Mother, Father, why do you think that I qualified for courses almost the complete opposite of Elder Sister?"
"If you would want to exactly why, then you would have to speak with your sensei, but if you want to hear what I think then I will gladly do so." To this, Hanabi nodded and so Hitiomi continued, "To put it simply, you and your Sister are different; you take on after your Father, while Hinata-Chan takes on after me, you have your Father's fierce and determined personality, you would not hesitate to go into the fray, even when you two were young you would always protect your Elder Sister from bullies, while Hinata-Chan has my softer personality, she is the kind of person who would rather solve any problems without any violence, but would do so if necessary. Hiashi-Kun, do you want to add anything?"
Hiashi shook his head and said, "You explained it wonderfully, Hitomi-Chan, I don't think I would need to add to it, but Hanabi-Chan, if you are unsatisfied with your results and would like to choose a course not on the list, we could put in a request for it, otherwise even with the courses you would choose now, you would do splendidly on them."
Hanabi beamed and replied, "Thank you, Mother, Father."
After 15 Minutes
Sumire, Wasabi and Namida also read out their results, with Sumire choosing Fuinjutsu, Kenjutsu and Barrier Ninjutsu, Wasabi choosing Iryojutsu, Fuinjutsu and Barrier Ninjutsu, and Namida choosing Genjutsu, Iryojutsu and Fuinjutsu.
"Naruto-Kun, it's your turn, tell us your result," Hitomi asked.
Naruto didn't waste any time, unfolding his result and reading it out, "I passed the requirements for all of the courses, but Mama, what should I choose, Fuinjutsu, Kenjutsu and Barrier Ninjutsu are not needed since I am good at them, I have no interest in Genjutsu, Iryojutsu or Bojutsu."
"This is a dilemma for which I only have one answer: choose all of them. Yes, there are six courses and you can only choose five, but since you have larger than most Chakra reserves, we can surely convince your sensei to accept a Shadow Clone in your place," Hitomi suggested. "Though, just out of curiosity, how many Shadow Clones are you capable of making at once?"
"Around thirty Shadow Clones using half of my Chakra reserves." Hitomi's eyes widened; this was the most Shadow Clones that anybody was ever able to make, it was rumoured that even the Hokage was only able to make ten, though she shouldn't even be surprised, Naruto was an Uzumaki as well as having the Kyubi boosting his Chakra reserves. "But Mama, even if I did want to choose all of them, would they allow it, regardless of me being an Uzumaki and having the resilience of withstanding the creation of so many Shadow Clones."
"Don't you worry about it, either I or your Father will talk with the Headmaster, but it is your job to convince your sensei, so now I want you to go back the next day, stay after classes end, talk with her and see if she can do anything about it."
"Hai, Mama!"
The Next Day
