Nanashi watches the fight unfolding before him with a grimace. It's now the second day of the term, and their first official day of Hero training. Their Heroics teacher, All Might, had brought them out to one of the exam testing sites in order to participate in indoor battle trials.
Currently, everything was going to shit. The teams for the exercise had been decided at random, and some terrible stroke of misfortune had Bakugou and Midoriya's teams fighting one another. As soon as the trial had started, Bakugou had ditched Iida and hunted Midoriya down to try and beat the life out of him. Using the lip-reading skills he'd developed, Nanashi swears he saw Bakugou say something to the effect of. 'I won't beat you so bad they'll have to stop the exercise!'
Knowing Bakugou, he'd push it as far as he possibly could.
Nanashi approaches All Might, "Sir. He's going too far, you need to put a stop to this."
Hallelujah nods in agreement, "Those two should never have been allowed to fight, randomness be damned."
All Might's smile dims a bit, "Yes, I can see that they have their issues with each other. However, if they don't learn to overcome them and be civil they'll have quite the difficult time in the field."
Nanashi can feel his eye twitching, "While I can understand that Sir, these are hardly the circumstances. Any environment that encourages combat will only stoke the fires of hatred, not dampen them."
All Might hums, but nothing more.
Aizawa, who had woken up when Nanashi approached All Might, chimes in, "The kid is right, All Might. This is going too far. Stop it now."
All Might… Hesitates? Clearly there's something mentally holding him back, but frankly, Nanashi doesn't care.
"Fuck this," he snarls, "If you won't do something about this I will."
Before anyone can stop him, Nanashi bolts from the observation room and towards the building trembling under the power of Bakugou's attacks. Making his way inside, Nanashi sprints towards the sounds of combat.
He arrives in time to hear Bakugou say, "If you know anything about my Quirk, then you'll get a kick out of this! If those extras in Support designed my gauntlets right, they've been collecting my sweat this whole time!"
Nanashi's eyes widen as he realizes just how devastating that explosion would be. Seeing Bakugou reach for a pin on his gauntlet, Nanashi reacts and draws the sidearm he'd requested for his costume. With instinctual aim, he nails the gauntlet, shattering it. Though, with the way Bakugou reels in pain, it would seem the projectile pierced his arm too.
What the fuck. They'd given him live rounds. They gave a first year in high school real FUCKING BULLETS.
With a grimace, Nanashi shoves that thought to the side. He'll have to deal with that after he defuses the situation.
Just to be thorough, Nanashi rushes Bakugou and draws his sword, the special custom one he requested for his costume, bringing the hilt down and shattering the other gauntlet.
In a series of fluid motions, Nanashi stores his weapons, grabs Bakugou, and pins him with his hands on his back palms down.
Shortly after, Aizawa comes on the PA, "This exercise is over. Both teams and Callaghan please return to the observation room. Any Quirk use or insubordination will result in an immediate detention."
Releasing Bakugou, Nanashi goes to check on Midoriya before guiding him back to the observation room.
When everyone is assembled, Aizawa speaks, "Iida, Uraraka, Midoriya. You three handled yourselves well all things considered so I'll be giving you a pass on the exercise. Bakugou. You took things too far and risked seriously injuring yourself and everyone else. Also, why is your arm bleeding?"
Bakugou growls, "Don't look at me! Buzz-cut over here fucking shot me!"
Aizawa turns to Nanashi, who takes out his gun, "That's my mistake. I didn't do a check on my ammunition beforehand, so I was unaware they gave me live rounds."
Aizawa's eye twitches, "They WHAT?!"
Nanashi empties the pouches of his Hero Costume, an updated version of the outfit he wore while training with the Hunter's Association, of all magazines and passes them to Aizawa before removing the one in his gun and clearing the chamber, flicking on the safety as he places the final bullet into the magazine and passes it to Aizawa.
As Nanashi holsters his sidearm, Aizawa checks the magazines before swearing under his breath. All real bullets.
Aizawa sighs, "I think we can let it slide for now, given the circumstances. However, in the future, always double check your equipment."
After he receives a nod from Nanashi, Aizawa turns back to Bakugou, "Back to what I was saying. After seeing how eagerly you endangered yourself and all those around you, I'm placing you in detention and signing you up for anger management with Hound Dog. This is non-negotiable."
Bakugou grumbles about it, likely because he'd never even been to detention before and loathed the idea he wasn't naturally perfect in all regards, but eventually gives a, "Yes Sir."
Aizawa nods and turns to Nanashi, "Callaghan. You acted against orders and ran out into an active fight that should've been left to a teacher. However, given the… special circumstances," Aizawa sends a harsh glare at All Might, causing the taller man to shrink away, "I think I can let it slide this time. However, if it happens again, you'll be headed straight to detention."
Nanashi nods, "Yes Sir."
Aizawa looks to Midoriya and Bakugou, "You two, head to Recovery Girl and get patched up. Otherwise, we'll be continuing the exercise under my guidance."
As the two injured leave, Aizawa designates a new building and asks for the next two teams to go set up. Nanashi and Hallelujah as the Villains, against Shoji and Todoroki as the Heroes.
Nanashi's smirk bares itself again. This is perfect! Todoroki seems decently strong, so perhaps Nanashi will actually have a challenge here.
Nanashi carefully observes the other team, and is able to make out the basics of their plan. From the looks of it, Todoroki has completely underestimated them.
His smirk now bordering on feral, and his toxic green eyes gleaming with excitement, Nanashi begins discussing his plan with Hallelujah as they head into the building.
As the exercise begins, Todoroki encases the entire building in ice. However, with Nanashi and Hallelujah having access to fire magic, they're entirely unaffected. Moving on stealthy feet, making almost no sound, Nanashi makes his way to the front of the building and opens a window to look down.
He's positioned directly over Shoji. Perfect! Now to wait for the opportune moment.
The time soon arrives, as Shoji goes to stretch his arms. As his highest arm nears the peak of the stretch, Nanashi falls out of the window and towards Shoji. Catching the arm as he reaches the bulky teen, Nanashi rolls forward to plant his feet firmly on the ground, turning all of his downward momentum into rotational force as he seemingly effortlessly throws his tallest classmate over his shoulder.
Shoji hits the ground, hard. All of the air escapes the boy's lungs, leaving him defenseless as Nanashi quickly ties him up with the capture tape.
Aizawa soon calls out Shoji's defeat. With a fierce smirk, Nanashi turns back toward the building and begins to climb, leaping upwards between window ledges before climbing back in the window he exited from and shutting it behind him.
Hearing what must be Hallelujah battling Todoroki, Nanashi dashes down the hall towards them, entirely unimpeded by the slick terrain.
As he rounds a corner, Nanashi spots Todoroki and fires off a Zanma, sending him flying down the opposite hall. As the boy tries to stand, a blast of Agilao from Hallelujah sends him on the defensive, Nanashi using the time to close distance and engage in melee combat.
As soon as Todoroki turns his attention to Nanashi, Hallelujah gets him with a solid punch the causes his bones to creak. However, when he tries to deal with Hallelujah, Nanashi catches him in the ribs with a nasty kick.
As soon as Todoroki tries to strike one, the other attacks to cover the first. Using his ice to try and hit both is ineffective, as the two are throwing around fire that renders his attacks null. Every base is covered. Without even looking at each other, much less speaking, the two have Todoroki trapped, and it's all he can do to hold out a few minutes before his defenses eventually fold.
Aizawa comes on the PA again as Hallelujah finishes tying up Todoroki, "Todoroki has been captured. The Villain team wins. Both teams head back to the observation room so we can discuss and move on."
With a victorious smirk, Nanashi fistbumps Hallelujah as they head back to the observation room. The Battle Trial hadn't been a challenge, but damn had it been fun anyway.
A/N: What's this? Another update the next day? Frankly, I'm just as surprised as you are. Don't expect this often, I just had a particularly potent burst of inspiration and needed an outlet. See y'all whenever.
