Sabrina is a traditionally feminine name with roots in Celtic, English, Latin, and Italian. It can also mean 'from the border' or, most delightfully, 'legendary princess'.

Code Geass and its characters belong to Gorō Taniguchi and Ichirō Ōkouchi.

The Daughter of Zero

Chapter 2: A Peaceful Era

(Main Timeline)

April 2020

The feel of warm soft lips on his own pulled Lelouch from his dream as he opened his eyes and smiled at his beloved, who was lying on top of him.

Kallen wore a short pink pyjama silk dress with sweetheart neckline and lace fabric covered the shoulder and collarbone.

"Hey."Kallen whispered gently."Did I wake you?"

Lelouch smirked. "Yeah, but I'm not complaining."

Kallen settled back against him and buried her face in his throat.

"You'd better not."Kallen chuckled.

Lelouch wrapped one arm around Kallen's back while his other hand began stroking her hair.

"Did you sleep well?"Lelouch asked.

"Yes, Lelouch."Kallen answered."And you?"

"Like a rock."Lelouch joked.

"Then I would have to make you feel relaxed all over again."Kallen insisted.

Lelouch and Kallen were about to kiss, but then heard a whimpering sound coming from the cradle that was not far from their bed.

The couple went off their bed to go over their cradle to check on their daughter.

Sabrina was an eight months old baby girl with red crimson hair that were kept in small pigtails and purple eyes. She wore a pink pyjama dress.

"Hey, sweet pea."Kallen greeted lovingly as she picked up Sabrina in her arms."Did you sleep well?"

Sabrina gurgled happily at her mother as Lelouch held her little hand.

"Perhaps the most important thing that parents should remember that effective parenting is really about trial and error."Lelouch exclaimed with a smile."But what I hope is our daughter gets to have a better childhood than both of us had."

"I'm sure she will, Lelouch."Kallen responded."Sabrina is growing up to be a happy and caring girl."

"Yes. But when me and Nunnally were younger, we were always cheerful being in Aries Villa with our mother and half-siblings. The two of us thought the world was a gentle place and hardly saw any cruelty."Lelouch exclaimed and frowned."But when our mother was 'killed', we've learned how cruel the world can be. I was so upset of losing my mother because she was so loving towards me and Nunnally. There was even a time that she threatened to hurt Carine's mother with her Knightmare because she insulted us. Though I still find it repulsive to have learned what she was really like and hope I, no, we become better parents than she and that man ever were."

Kallen gives Lelouch a kiss on the cheek.

"And we will, Lelouch."Kallen declared firmly."Don't ever doubt that."

Lelouch gives Kallen a smile, silently agreeing with her.

After putting their normal clothes on, the Lamperouge Family then made their way downstairs to the dining room and saw Sayoko had prepared breakfast for them.

Lelouch wore a pale blue buttoned shirt with a indigo tie, grey trousers and brown shoes.

Kallen wore a light pink buttoned shirt with a dark top under it, help up by straps that are tied around her neck. The pink shirt had a purple butterfly print on the left side of her waist. She also wore a blue skirt with a white belt around her waist. Below she had beige leg warmers and brown heels.

"Morning, Master Lelouch and Mistress Kallen."Sayoko greeted with a bow."Breakfast is ready."

Lelouch and Kallen smiled at seeing steamed rice, miso soup, pickles, and several side dishes on their tables.

"Thank you, Sayoko."Lelouch thanked.

"It looks delicious."Kallen remarked.

Kallen placed Sabrina in her baby chair before she and Lelouch sat down between her.

Lelouch used his chopsticks to try his bowl of rice with seaweed and immediately liked it.

"Hey, it's great."Lelouch complemented."It's nutritious as well, right?"

"You've got that right, Lelouch."Kallen agreed as she fed Sabrina a small spoon of rice. "The smorgasbord of rice, soup, protein, vegetables and preserves that make up Japanese breakfasts means both that the eater will be satisfied until lunch and that the eater will be gaining a lot of important nutrients. Best of all, Japanese breakfasts are as tasty as they are nutritionally beneficial."

Kallen took a sip from her miso soup bowl as Lelouch notice a green sauce near his dish.

"The sauce must be good too then."Lelouch assumed.

"Wait, Lelouch!"Kallen protested. "That's-"

Lelouch tried the green sauce, only for his face to become utterly red and desperately drank down his cup of water.

"What…in…the…world…was…that?"Lelouch gagged.

"That would be wasabi."Kallen said with a sheepish smile.

"Don't you like spice, Master Lelouch?"Sayoko asked.

"Only on my meats."Lelouch responded and rubbed his neck."Apparently, this kind of spice is too strong for my taste."

Sabrina cooed joyfully as she clapped her hands.

In Ashford Academy…

Euphemia stifled her giggle and held her study books to her chest as she was chased by admirers in the hallway.

"Please, Euphie! Will you go out with me?"

"Do you like movies? I know cool movie we could watch together!"

"If you want a nice place to study there is a cool restaurant that the two of us can go!"

The bubblegum pink haired girl turned around to look at the group.

"I'm very flattered by your requests, gentlemen."Euphemia assured."But this weekend, I'm not available since I will be helping my older sister."

Euphemia walked away as her admirers looked at her with hearts in their eyes.

"Euphie! You're an awesome babe!"

An exhausted sigh escaped from Euphemia's face.

Ever since she started attending Ashford Academy, the former 3rd Princess of Britannia had been chased by boys that admired her as well as getting love letters and bouquet of flowers from them.

"Euphie!"

Euphemia turned around and saw Shirley, Rivalz, Nunnally and Nina coming towards her.

"Hi, Sister Euphie."Nunnally greeted.

"Hey, Nunna and everyone."Euphemia responded.

"Did it happen again?"Nina asked.

"Yes, Nina."Euphemia said and sweat dropped."They don't ever seem to leave me alone."

Rivalz smirked at Euphemia.

"Can you blame them?"Rivalz sneered."You are a former Britannian princess and a pretty girl, Euphie."

A small blush appeared on Euphemia's face while Nunnally covered her mouth to giggle.

"Oh, give her a break, Rivalz."Shirley retorted, making Rivalz chuckle before looking at Euphemia."Don't you worry, Euphie. You just need to pick one guy to date and all the others will scurry off."

"I guess so."Euphemia agreed.

"How about we take photos of all Euphemia's admirers and find out which one is her match?"Nina suggested.

"Hey."Rivlaz chuckled."That's a great idea, Nina."

"That could work."Nunnally suggested.

Shirley nodded in agreement.

"Of course it will, Nunna."Shirley agreed."Let's start right after we have lunch."

Euphemia smiled at her younger half-sister and three friends, who wanted to help her with her problem.

But she doubted she'll find the right guy after learning what Suzaku had done and would've done if it hadn't been for her niece from the future.

In Pendragon…

Marrybell mel Britannia, the 100th Empress of Britannia, dragged herself out of bed at 05:00 am to begin another day of her reign.

It had been a year after the battle against Emperor Schneizel, the empire disintegrated and later reformed as the Principality of Britannia.

It was regarded as one of the great powers of the United Federation of Nations, holding a similar amount of influence as the founding members of the United States of China and the United States of Japan.

Due to Empress Marrybell's desire to reform the Holy Britannian Empire into something more tolerant, it can be assumed that the Principality no longer held the majority of the former Areas which meant they have their independence.

She expelled the crumbling infrastructure and treasonous nobles within her administration that didn't believe she didn't have any right to the Britannian Throne.

Also, the ruler of Britannia listened to her subjects or advisors for anything they had to say or report to her and carefully make the right decisions.

Her coronation was a huge success.

She being out and about among the people and they adored her.

Even those that were non-Britannians.

Empress Marrybell wrote her signature on a sheet of paper in her private officer until she heard a knock on the door.

"Come in."Empress Marrybell responded.

The door opened and Carine arrived inside the office.

"Your highness."Carine retorted bitterly with a bow.

"Hello, Carine."Empress Marrybell answered."What can I do for you?"

Carine went over to Marrybell's desk as the Empress paused herself from writing and placed her ink pen away.

"Actually, there's something I want you to answer."Carine said with a fake smile. "Just a couple of questions."

"Alright."Empress Marrybell replied.

"First of all, what happened to discrimination against the Numbers as our national policy?"Carine demanded with an irritated tone as she sat on a chair."What gave you the idea to give them their rights and independence?"

"To explain things more clearly for you, I gave people, who aren't able to defend themselves and starving from death, their freedom that they had lost for a long time because of our father."Empress Marrybell admitted."And stop calling them 'numbers', they're human beings just like us."

An annoyed scowl escaped Carine's mouth at hearing Marrybell's respond.

"Unbelievable!"Carine scowled."You, the former leader of the Glinda Knights, became the next monarch of our glorious homeland, who was supposed to rule the premier power of the world, with an iron fist and endlessly wages war on all foreign nations to expand and conquer them to cement the dominance of Britannia! Instead, you've decided to be an absolute soft grandmotherly woman that decided not to do things that our father and his predecessors would've never done!"

"Carine, I'm not going to do things our father and predecessors did as well as repeat their mistakes. Which means I won't do any of their horrible cruelties. Not even Schneizel's."Empress Marrybell admitted in a firm yet strict tone."I will only rule Britannia and don't wish to conquer any other country. Also, not support any rebel against the rightful ruler of another country."

"Ugh!"Carine retorted in annoyance."You've gone soft as Cornelia had!"

The 100th Empress of Britannia rubbed her head feeling a slight headache at hearing Carine argue with her before speaking to her younger half-sister.

"Hey, Carine."Empress Marrybell spoke up."Would you like to know why our father established the Ragnarök Connection?"

"Sure."Carine said with an unfazed expression.

"Because he had given up on humanity."Empress Marrybell explained."He was born in a time where our relatives would kill or lie each other just to be on the throne. So he and his immortal older twin brother Vincent decided that humanity was beyond redemption and thus the only recourse was to defang it. In other words, they planned to make a world that suited their ideals with Lady Marianne."

Carine became stunned at the mention of Lelouch and Nunnally's mother.

"What do you mean with Lady Marianne?"Carine questioned."She was murdered before those commoners twits were sent to Japan and we invaded it."

"Yes. Lady Marianne was assassinated by V.V because he believed their love for each other was seeing our father's' faith in mankind restored. And that faith was causing him to waver on the need for Ragnarök, and distance himself from V.V."Empress Marrybell explained."Regardless if we followed his beliefs or not, he didn't care about any of his children or his own Empire. Not even Lady Marianne. The same goes for Schneizel. It's because of him that it would've been the end of us and the rest of our family, if he had unleashed the F.L.E.I.J.A in Pendragon."

Carine rolled her eyes, looking at her older half-sister with a unfazed look on her face.

"Fine. Whatever."Carine responded with a frown."Don't expect me to help you if assassins or kidnappers come after you."

Carine then stood up from her seat and left the office.

Empress Marrybell simply shook her head before going back on her state papers.

It would take a while for Carine and the rest of the royal family to accept her as Empress of Britannia.

But at the end of the day, it was always be earning the love of her people and the whole country as her first priority.

Not just her family members.

She will follow her heart instead of her mind like her late mother, Lady Flora had told her and her little sister, Julia, a long time ago.

Back in Japan…

Lelouch and Kallen sat together in their car while Sabrina sat at the back, but in her baby seat.

Sabrina wore a dark pink baby footie with a matching pink rabbit hat on her head.

Their destination was a restaurant, fifteen minutes' drive away from their home.

They drove to Chuo-dori, the main street in Ginza, was lined with Japan's leading jewellery stores, world-class luxury brands, and long-established department stores.

Sweets shops, cafes and restaurants can also be found in Ginza's high-end stores. This was a place to enjoy a rare taste of luxury. Choices include sushi, tempura, Chinese food, French food, cakes, ice cream, and seasonal fruits.

The Lamperouge Family arrived to their destination parked outside it.

Their destination was a place with the sign above the entrance read 'Café Zero', complete with a Zero mask.

Lelouch took out Sabrina from the back as she relaxed in her baby chair while Kallen close their car with its keys.

The couple entered the cafe, revealing an interior decorated fittingly to it's name: The chairs and round tables were decorated with small ornaments, the walls had the symbol of the Black Knights and the counter where the assortments of drinks, pastries, cakes and other goods would be. There was also a second floor, to which a spiral staircase led up to.

"Hey there, favourite customers!"Tamaki greeted.

"Hi, Tamaki."Kallen responded.

"It's been a while."Lelouch commented.

Lelouch and Kallen went to sit in a table for four.

Kallen placed Sabrina in her lap to feed her bottle of milk as Lelouch checked the menu.

"Hey, Kallen. Look at this."Lelouch remarked while pointing at the Lunch List of the Menu."There's kitsune udon topped with aburaage fried tofu. Guess we both know where that inspiration came from."

Kallen's smile saddened a bit at the mention of Kitsune.

"Yeah. Kitsune."Kallen answered with a slight smile."Our daughter."

Lelouch glanced at his wife.

"Something wrong?"Lelouch questioned.

"I don't know, Lelouch."Kallen said as she looked at Sabrina, who drinking her bottle of milk."Our daughter is right here. But I strangely miss her."

"The one from the future and changed our lives for the better?"Lelouch assumed.

"Yeah."Kallen agreed with a nod."I can't help, but wonder what she's doing now."

"Probably now living life to the fullest."Lelouch suggested.

Sabrina stopped drinking her bottle of milk to let out a happy laugh.

"Our daughter is still a baby, but she seems to know when to cheer us up."Kallen chuckled."She'll grow up to be a great beauty."

"Of course, she will."Lelouch agreed with a smirk."Look at her mother."

Then Benio Akagi, one of the waiters, came to get their order.

"Hi, Lelouch and Kallen."Benio greeted.

"Hey, Benio-san."Kallen said with a smile.

"What can I get you guys?"Benio asked.

"Two Zero Frappuccinos and a plate of sushi for Sabrina."Kallen requested.

Sabrina gurgled in respond as Benio wrote down her parents' orders.

"She's so cute."Benio cooed and gave the couple a bow."Coming right up."

Benio walked away as Lelouch and Kallen glanced at the TV.

On the TV, they saw Prime Minister Kaguya having a conversation with Empress Tianzi and Margaret Walpole, the current President of the United Republic of Europia.

Diethard was the one reporting the event.

"Kaguya has really become more popular since becoming the Prime Minister of Japan."Lelouch complemented smugly."My former future wife."

Kallen raised an eyebrow at Lelouch.

"Lelouch."Kallen said with a frown.

"Don't worry, Kallen. I only see Kaguya as a friend like many of my other admirers."Lelouch exclaimed."Back in Ashford Academy, if I spoke with Milly or Shirley, the others would get jealous. Then again, all girls were like that around me."

"Of course."Kallen responded smugly."Yet you've never lost any of them even though you hardly showed any interest in romance or dating."

"Good point."Lelouch replied.

Benio brought two Zero Frappuccinos and a plate of sushi for the Lamperouge family.

In Pendragon…

Lila la Britannia hummed as she painted a portrait of Empress Marrybell on her coronation in her own room in Warwick Palace.

She carefully mixed the correct colours to make the Spanish pink colour that was her older half-sister's hair colour before doing the rest of the colours for her portrait.

"I will find it hard to accept the horrible things that you have done in Shinjuku, Clovis."Lila thought with a bittersweet smile."But I'll never stop loving and missing you, big brother."

In the Countryside…

Anya Alstreim-Gottwald, the former Knight of Six, removed her cap to wipe away the sweat in her forehead.

The sun shone blazingly on the clear summer sky.

For the oranges in the field, this was an ideal weather.

After putting some of the oranges away, Anya went to sit in the cool shadows of the tree she was in to safely shade herself from the burning sun.

For the first time in her life, she was truly happy and free.

Most years of her life had been robbed away and was treated as a puppet.

The former Knight of Six silently cursed Marianne vi Britannia for all that.

But all the painful things that happened in the past was behind her.

Anya was herself and broken free from the influence of Geass.

Jeremiah then walked over to his adopted daughter.

"Anya, it's nearly lunchtime."Jeremiah informed."You must be hungry after working so hard all morning."

Anya nodded at Jeremiah.

"Okay, Jerry. I'll come."Anya answered with a smile."Otherwise, all of the ice in the pitchers will melt."

Anya followed Jeremiah to the cottage where they live.

Not far from the cottage, C.C was sitting down in a lake.

The Immortal Witch was looking through the calendar on her phone.

Her light yellow eyes landed on a schedule that was on April.

"April 15th. Sabrina vi Britannia's first birthday."C.C read with a small smile."And it's only a couple of weeks away."

C.C glanced at her reflection in the lake.

"There's a but, isn't there?"C.C murmured as a troubled expression grew on her face."I can feel it. Like a rain cloud."

Somewhere...

Dark hooded figures gathered around a table that contained files that included information on Code-R, the Geass Order and photos that showed the members of the Britannian Royal Family which included Vincent (V.V), Charles, Marianne, Cornelia, Euphemia, Marrybell, Lelouch and Nunnally.

A photo of Sabrina wearing a middle Ashford Academy uniform was among them.

The room the hooded figures were appeared to be one that belonged within a castle of medieval times though the candles that lightened the place gave a sinister environment.

Footsteps were heard and a figure wearing a dark red hood and black gloves walked forward, revealing to be the leader of the unknown group.

"We must capture Sabrina vi Britannia."A voice scowled."She won't escape punishment this time."

The dark hooded figure then brought out a dagger before jamming it on the photo of Sabrina and cutting it in half.
