Hi, it's been a while since I last wrote. I hope you can forgive me for neglecting this story of mine. And I want to say thank you for showing interest in this story of mine and for following it. I don't want to disappoint you and therefore, enjoy the chapter.

The following morning, Ji Hoo was the first to wake up. At first, he had been puzzled as to why there was someone else in his bed, but he recalled he was in Jan Di's bedroom, in her hostel. She didn't have a problem sharing a bed with him just for a nap, however, this was the first time they shared a bed the entire night. He recalled he had dropped by just for a nap but ended up staying longer than planned. As he stretched his limbs and yawned, Ji Hoo couldn't help but smile at the peaceful sight of Jan Di still fast asleep. Her tousled hair cascaded over his bare chest, and a faint smile played on her lips.

Ji Hoo smiled at her as she tightened her hold around his waist and nested further, pressing her nose in his neck, her leg draped around his hip. The warmth of her body against his was comforting, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of contentment wash over him. It was moments like these that made him realize just how much he cherished their connection. As the morning light filtered through the curtains, Ji Hoo gently brushed a strand of hair away from Jan Di's face, careful not to wake her. He marveled at the way she looked so peaceful and serene in her slumber, completely unaware of the world around her.

Lost in his thoughts, Ji Hoo reflected on their journey together. There had been an undeniable spark between them from the first time they met. Their friendship had blossomed into something more profound and meaningful—something that went beyond words. Jan Di had become his sanctuary, a place where he could find solace and comfort amidst life's chaos. Her presence alone gave him a sense of calmness he had never experienced. And now, as they lay intertwined in each other's embrace, he couldn't ask for more. He then slowly leaned in and kissed her forehead several times, taking her hand and kissing it gently before caressing her back in gentle circles. As he traced his fingers along her spine, he couldn't help but marvel at the depth of their connection. It was as if their souls were entwined, dancing to a rhythm only they could hear.

At that moment, all the worries and troubles of the world faded away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of contentment. Their love was a sanctuary, a haven where they could escape from the chaos of everyday life. It was a reminder that they had found something truly special in this vast universe—a bond that transcended mere words or gestures. Together, they created a symphony of emotions in a language that only they understood. And as they lay there, basking in the warmth of their love, he knew that this was where he belonged—wrapped in her arms, finding solace in her touch. He had discovered a profound meaning to life in her presence—a love that went beyond anything he had ever imagined.

Moments later, Jan Di began to stir to wakefulness after feeling something on her palms—something soft and flawless yet muscular. She opened her eyes, and her eyes landed on the hand that lay on the man's bare chest. She opened her eyes fully to see Ji Hoo lying beside her, his eyes closed. Her heart skipped a beat as she traced the contours of his face with her gaze, mesmerized by his peaceful expression. The warmth radiating from his body enveloped her, creating a cocoon of serenity and contentment. In moments like these, she felt an unbreakable bond between them, a connection that transcended words and logic.

'What is she doing?'

Ji Hoo silently asked himself to wait for Jan Di to do something, and then he felt her fingers tracing the contours of his collarbone and landing on the ring that hung in the chain around his neck. Lost in her thoughts, he decided to watch whatever she was doing to him, enjoying her hands caressing his skin. At first, he was surprised by it, but then he wondered what was going through her mind. Was she curious about the significance of the ring? Did she find comfort in the feel of it against her fingertips?

Ji Hoo couldn't help but be captivated by her actions, as they seemed to hold a deeper meaning. Perhaps she was trying to understand him better, to connect with him on a level beyond words. Her touch was gentle yet purposeful, leaving a trail of warmth in its wake. It was in these moments that Ji Hoo realized how much he cherished their bond and how much he longed to unravel the mysteries of her heart just as she seemed determined to unravel his. As he continued to silently observe her, he couldn't help but hope that this simple gesture was a sign of something more profound—a silent promise that their connection would only grow stronger with time.

Jan Di's hands traced the smoothness of the golden ring around Ji Hoo's neck, recalling that he had originally offered her the ring, but she had rejected it two years ago. Back then, she couldn't imagine accepting anyone's heart because she was hurting, but if there was a second chance, she wondered if she would accept it now. The memories of their past encounters flooded her mind, reminding her of the deep connection they had shared.

Ji Hoo had always been there for her, offering comfort and support when she needed it the most. But time had passed, and things had changed. Jan Di had moved on, finding love and happiness with someone else. Yet, as she stood there, feeling the weight of Ji Hoo's ring in her hands, a part of her couldn't help but wonder what could have been. Was it possible to revisit the past and rewrite their story? The uncertainty lingered in the air as they both stood there, lost in their own thoughts. Perhaps fate had brought them together once again for a reason, testing their hearts and challenging their choices. Only time would tell if they were meant to be more than just friends or if they were destined to remain as memories from a different chapter of their lives.

Jan Di innocently began tracing the contours of his muscles. She could see and feel the masculinity of his chest and began wondering if he works out in a gym; after all, he owns one. The muscles were firm and well-defined, a testament to his dedication and discipline. His abs were well-defined, rippling beneath her touch, inviting her to explore further. As she continued to trace the lines of his physique, she couldn't help but be captivated by the strength and power exuding from his body. It was clear that he took great pride in maintaining his physical fitness, and Jan Di found herself drawn even closer to him, intrigued by the allure of what lay beneath the surface.

"Is this what girls refer to as packs?" she questioned herself, still tracing fingers along the contours of his chiseled abdomen. "I better stop thinking and go to shower," she said disentangling herself from his arms but as attempted to jump over him, Ji Hoo drew her over to him, capturing her in a warm embrace.

"Stay a little longer," he whispered, his voice filled with longing. Her legs draped around his hips, while she sat on his abdomen making it uncomfortable for her at the same time natural for her. Ji Hoo was her friend, and this position wasn't good for them to maintain their platonic relationship. However, the intensity of their connection made it difficult for her to resist his embrace. She knew she had to find a way to gently extricate herself without jeopardizing their friendship.

"You are awake?" She said softly, her voice tinged with both relief and hesitation. Ji Hoo blinked up at her, his eyes filled with a mix of confusion and desire. He nodded slowly, his fingers gently tracing patterns on her back. The weight of the moment hung heavy in the air, as they both tried to navigate the uncharted territory between friendship and something more. She took a deep breath, summoning the courage to speak her truth. "I…I think we need to talk," she murmured, her words barely audible.

Ji Hoo's expression shifted, a flicker of concern crossing his face. He sat up slightly, creating a small distance between them while keeping their connection intact. "What's on your mind?" he asked softly, his voice filled with a vulnerability she had never heard before. She hesitated for a moment, searching for the right words to convey her thoughts without causing harm. "I think I should go to bathe. Our lectures are in an hour, we should get ready soon…" she said attempting to get out of his arms, but Ji Hoo didn't buy that excuse.

He tightened his grip on her, refusing to let her go so easily. "No, don't avoid the question," he pleaded, his eyes pleading for honesty. She took a deep breath, knowing she couldn't hide her feelings any longer.

"I'm scared," she finally admitted, tears welling up in her eyes but that is what she didn't want to talk to him about.

"What are you scared of?"

"I'm afraid that once you graduate, I won't be able to make it." Ji Hoo's expression softened as he listened intently to her words. He gently wiped away the tears from her cheeks, his touch filled with reassurance.

"You don't have to worry about that," he whispered, his voice filled with unwavering determination. "We've been through so much together, and I know we can overcome any obstacles that come our way." His words resonated deeply within her, bringing a glimmer of hope to her fearful heart.

She found solace in his unwavering belief in their love and their ability to conquer the uncertainties of the future. "I promised you that we would be doctors in the same field, so…I won't leave you behind," he continued softly, his eyes filled with sincerity. "We'll study together, support each other, and make our dreams a reality." His words ignited a fire within her, reminding her of their shared aspirations. "Do you trust me?"

"Yes, I do," she replied immediately. She had always trusted him with all her heart.

"We should have our lunch by the pool today," Ji Hoo suggested. "I haven't been there in a while," he added.

"OK," Jan Di replied with excitement in her voice. The pool for Shinhwa University was different from that of Shinhwa High School. The one for the university was much larger and had more amenities. Jan Di remembered how much fun she used to have at the high school pool, so she was eager to experience the university pool even if she couldn't swim anymore due to her injury.

"I wish we had a lecture together," he said his voice filled with longing, leaning in to kiss her cheek something he enjoyed doing especially when they didn't share a lecture, and gave her a firm embrace before parting ways to go to class.

...

Lectures went slower than he ever thought possible. These were one of those slow days when they didn't attend the same lectures, and he found himself constantly glancing at the empty seat beside him, longing for her presence. The professor's voice became a distant hum as his mind wandered, replaying their morning encounter in his head. He couldn't help but smile at the memory of her excitement about the university pool, even though she couldn't swim anymore. It was moments like these that made him realize how much he cherished their time together.

As the lecture continued, Jan Di's alarm went off in his heart and he immediately knew she was in danger. He didn't want to assume but his heart began aching with the familiar pain he usually gets when she is in danger. He discreetly glanced around the lecture hall, searching for any signs of trouble. His instincts rarely failed him, and he couldn't shake off the feeling that something was wrong. Jan Di had always been fearless, but her past experiences had left her vulnerable to danger. Without hesitation, he excused himself from the lecture and rushed out of the classroom. His mind raced with worry as he frantically dialed Jan Di's number.

The phone rang and rang, but there was no answer. Panic started to consume him, and he felt a surge of adrenaline coursing through his veins. As he sprinted towards the university pool, memories of their shared moments flooded his mind.

He remembered how they used to spend hours there, laughing and splashing around like carefree children. But now, all he could think about was ensuring Jan Di's safety. Arriving at the pool area, his heart sank as he saw a commotion near the edge of the water. A crowd had gathered, and he could see someone struggling in the water, desperately gasping for air, and then sinking deeper into the water.

Without hesitation, Ji Hoo took off his coat and he dove into the pool, his body cutting through the water with precision and determination. As he reached the struggling figure, he recognized Jan Di's face, her eyes filled with fear and panic. With every ounce of strength he possessed, he pulled her towards the surface, their bodies breaking through the water's surface like a triumphant victory.

"Jan Di-ah," he called out to her unconscious form desperately. "Please wake up," Ji Hoo pleaded, his voice filled with worry and concern. He cradled her gently in his arms, feeling the weight of her limp body against his chest. Panic surged through him as he realized the gravity of the situation. With a sense of urgency, he carried her out of the pool and laid her down on the ground, desperately trying to revive her. He pressed his ear against her chest, listening intently for any signs of life. Time seemed to stand still as he performed CPR, his hands compressing her chest rhythmically. Sweat dripped down his forehead as he fought against despair, refusing to give up on Jan Di.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, she coughed weakly and gasped for air. Relief flooded through Ji Hoo as he held her tightly, tears streaming down his face. He then wrapped his coat over her freezing body to shield her from the biting cold. Jan Di's eyes fluttered open, her gaze meeting Ji Hoo's with a mix of gratitude and confusion. She weakly whispered his name, her voice barely audible. Ji Hoo's heart swelled with newfound hope as he realized that he had succeeded in bringing her back from the brink of death.

With trembling hands, he reached for his phone and dialed his grandfather, asking if he was at home and if Jan Di needed him. His grandfather's voice crackled through the phone, assuring Ji Hoo that he was indeed at home and ready to help. Relief flooded over Ji Hoo as he quickly explained the situation, urging his grandfather to come immediately. He knew that Jan Di needed more than just his coat to survive; she needed proper medical attention.

With a renewed sense of determination, Ji Hoo gently lifted Jan Di into his arms, careful not to jostle her fragile frame. He carried her towards his car, praying that they would reach his grandfather's house in time. The drive felt agonizingly long, with each passing second a reminder of how delicate Jan Di's condition was. Finally, they arrived at the familiar gates of his estate-Ji Hoo's home. Ji Hoo rushed inside, calling out for help as he laid Jan Di down on his soft bed in his bedroom. His grandfather appeared, his face etched with concern and urgency.

"When I found her, she was already drowning." Ji Hoo explained. "Is there any way we can keep her warmer than this?"

His grandfather nodded, understanding the gravity of the situation. "I will fetch some warm soup for her, but you need to use your body to regulate her body temperature," his grandfather said, placing a comforting hand on Ji Hoo's shoulder. "Lie down beside her and hold her close. Your warmth will help bring her body temperature back to normal." Ji Hoo nodded. "I will go get some soup for you, and meanwhile, change your clothes before you catch a cold."

Ji Hoo quickly went to change his clothes, making sure to put on warmer layers. As he returned, he saw his grandfather gently wrapping a blanket around Jan Di, ensuring she was snug and cozy before giving her some soup. Ji Hoo felt a sense of relief seeing his grandfather take care of Jan Di. He joined them, sitting by her side and gently stroking her hair, hoping his presence would bring her some comfort as well.

"How are you feeling Jan Di-ah?" Grandfather asked.

Jan Di looked up at Ji Hoo's grandfather with a weak smile. "I'm feeling a little better now, thank you," she replied softly.

"My child, what happened before you fell in the pool? Did someone push you or did you fall in by mistake?" grandfather asked with concern in his eyes. Jan Di hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much she should reveal. She knew that her answer could potentially cause trouble for those involved, but she also trusted Ji Hoo's grandfather and felt the need to confide in someone.

"Did someone push you?" Ji Hoo asked, his voice filled with worry.

Taking a deep breath, she decided to tell them the truth. "I was pushed," she admitted, her voice barely above a whisper. "There are some students at school who have been targeting me because I come from a poor background." Ji Hoo's and grandfather's faces hardened with anger as they listened to her words.

Yoon Seok Young, as a former president, had always believed in treating others with kindness and respect, regardless of their social status. During his reign as president, he never looked down on people based on their backgrounds. He understood the importance of equality and inclusivity, and he instilled these values in his grandson, Ji Hoo. This revelation only fueled his determination to protect Jan Di and ensure that justice was served.

"No child should ever have to endure such cruelty," he said firmly. "I promise you, Jan Di-ah, I will do everything in my power to put an end to this injustice."

As Ji Hoo listened to the truth unfolds, his heart filled with a mix of emotions. Anger towards those who had targeted his Jan Di, but also admiration for her bravery in speaking up. He knew that he had to stand by her side and fight against the injustice she had faced.

"Grandfather, I promise to protect her better than anyone else," Ji Hoo declared, determination shining in his eyes. "No one will ever hurt her again, I swear it." With unwavering resolve, he vowed to be Jan Di's unwavering support and shield her from any harm that may come her way.

"I know that, but I need to do something as well." Yoon Seok Young replied, walking out of the room.

After their grandfather left the room, Ji Hoo opened the blanket and lay next to Jan Di, to give her warmth. He wrapped his arms around her, kissing the crown of her head gently.

Looking back a few moments ago, when he nearly lost her, he felt a surge of gratitude and relief wash over him. Jan Di was his everything, his reason for living, and he couldn't bear the thought of a world without her. As he held her close, he whispered sweet words of reassurance, promising to always be there for her, no matter what. The weight of their shared experiences and the depth of their connection filled the room, creating an unbreakable bond between them. At that moment, Ji Hoo knew that they were destined to face any challenge together, hand in hand. He would fight for their love with every ounce of his being, cherishing and protecting Jan Di for the rest of their lives.

"Are you still feeling cold?" he asked, stroking her back as he held her tightly against his chest. Jan Di nodded, her body shivering slightly despite Ji Hoo's warm embrace. She had always been susceptible to the cold, but it was more than just the temperature that chilled her now. It was the uncertainty of what lay ahead—the unknown paths they would have to navigate together. But Ji Hoo's presence brought her comfort; his touch was a reminder that she was not alone in this journey.

"Go to sleep," he said, tenderly kissing her forehead before pulling a blanket over her while he held her more tightly against his body. As she closed her eyes, she could feel the steady rhythm of his heartbeat—a soothing lullaby that eased her worries. Ji Hoo's unwavering support had always been her anchor, and she knew that no matter what challenges they faced, they would face them together.

"Kang Hee-soo," Yoon Seok Young growled at the woman sitting in the chair. "I think I should teach you to stay away from my grandson and granddaughter, Jan Di." His voice dripped with anger. "Especially Jan Di-ah, that girl is so sweet and innocent. What do you want from her if you don't want her as your daughter-in-law?"

Kang Hee-soo scoffed, her expression filled with disdain. "Your precious Jan Di means nothing to me. I only care about the power and wealth that come with my son's marriage. She's just a means to an end."

"Is that the reason why you are secretly setting Gu Jun Pyo and Ha Jae Kyung together, once more?" Kang Hee-Soo's eyes narrowed, a sly smile playing on her lips.

"Oh, you catch on quickly, don't you? Yes, my dear Yoon Seok Young, I am indeed orchestrating their reunion. Ha Jae Kyung is from a wealthy family, and her connections could elevate our status even further. Jan Di is nothing compared to the benefits that come with this alliance."

Yoon Seok Young face contorted with anger as he clenched his fists. "You heartless woman! How could you manipulate your own son's emotions like this? You're willing to sacrifice his happiness for your own greed?"

Her laughter echoed through the room as she coldly replied, "Happiness is overrated, my dear. Power and wealth are what truly matter in this world. Jun Pyo will understand that soon enough. Besides he is already falling in love with her."

His voice filled with determination, Yoon Seok Young declared, "I won't let you destroy what true love is. Jan Di deserves better than this twisted son and wicked family like yours."

"Oh! Come on, your grandson Yoon Ji Hoo has got his sights on Jan Di. I'm sure by the time their four years come to an end, he will have won her heart," sneered Mrs. Kang, her eyes gleaming with malice.

Yoon Seok Young's face hardened as he retorted, "You underestimate Jan Di's strength and resilience. She is not one to be swayed by material possessions or superficial charm. Ji Hoo may have feelings for her, but she will make her own choice based on genuine connection and shared values."

Mrs. Kang scoffed dismissively, saying, "Love is a luxury that only the weak indulge in. In the end, it is power and influence that shape destinies."

Yoon Seok Young's gaze turned steely as he declared, "Jan Di will prove you wrong. She will rise above your twisted ideals and find true happiness with someone who cherishes her for who she truly is especially my grandson."

With those words, he turned away from Mrs. Kang, determined to protect Jan Di from the clutches of a toxic world consumed by greed and manipulation. Before he could leave, he turned once more to Mrs. Kang and said, "Make sure you keep your son, Jun Pyo, away from Jan Di because once she becomes my granddaughter-in-law, she will be more powerful than ever before. She will have the support of the Yoon family and you know I still have ties in the government that can make or break careers." With a stern look, he emphasized the weight of his words, leaving Mrs. Kang speechless and understanding the consequences of crossing him.

After his conversation with Madam Kang, Yoon Seok Young returned to his home after making a few important calls that will change both Ji Hoo and Jan Di's lives. He hadn't wanted to get involved in politics or business, but the conversation he had with that woman made him realize he had to protect his grandson, Ji Hoo, and granddaughter-in-law, Jan Di, at all costs. As he entered his home, Yoon Seok Young couldn't help but feel a sense of urgency and determination coursing through his veins. He knew that in order to shield his family from the impending storm, he had to take immediate action.

As he entered his home, he walked to Ji Hoo's room and saw him still wrapping his arms around Jan Di, protecting her—the girl who had brought him and his grandson together after 15 years of separation. Yoon Seok Young couldn't help but smile at the sight, knowing that their love was a force to be reckoned with. He made a silent promise to himself that he would do whatever it took to ensure their safety and happiness, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.

He didn't regret having forced Jan Di to start looking at Ji Hoo as a man, not her best friend. It was a necessary step in their journey toward finding true love and happiness. Jan Di had always seen Ji Hoo as her confidant, her rock, but Yoon Seok Young knew that there was something deeper between them, something that had the potential to blossom into a beautiful romance. And now, as he watched them embrace, he knew that he had made the right decision.

That was it.
