Chapter 9: Blazing Might

After crossing the bridge which connected Motostoke and its outskirts, Ash was finally back to where he had first started out his Gym Challenge, as he started to look around the town, never really getting the chance to explore the place since he had first arrived.
"Now that I get a closer look at things, this place is much bigger from this angle." Ash mused out, completely surprised at how big Motostoke really was.
"Maybe it's because we didn't get to see much of this place when we first came here, Reil." Gallade responded, being as surprised as Ash was.
Taking their time to explore the place before their big fight with Kabu, Ash and Gallade decided to enter a small cafe where they could dine for awhile, after Gallade had eaten the last of their meal along the way to Motostoke as the Trainer sat down on his table.
"Kabu is a Fire Type Gym Leader, so the only real advantage I have is in Lairon a Rock Type." Ash mumbled out, thinking of his strategy while looking at the menu.
"Considering more then half of our team are Steel Type Pokémon, we're going to burned pretty badly." Gallade said jokingly, making Ash chuckle.
The amnesiac Trainer soon made an order as he started to think of how he was going to fight against Kabu and his team of Fire Type Pokémon, knowing that the only real advantage he had was in Lairon's Rock typing.
"It's possible that Kabu has a way to deal with types that matches well against Fire Types." Gallade told his Trainer.
"So, our other options is to see what Pokémon he possesses first, before we can come up with a clean strategy." Ash responded.
True to his own words, it was impossible for Ash to think of a clear strategy when Kabu's Pokémon to him are still unknown, and it is also possible that Kabu knows what kind of Pokémon he possesses from his battle with Milo and Nessa, which makes planning even harder.
"Here is your order, sir." The waiter in the cafe greeted, while placing a plate on the table.
"Thanks." Ash responded, before picking up his fork and spoon, with Gallade imitating his actions.
"I guess we can think after we fill our stomach, and after this we'll have to do some shopping." Ash exclaimed.
As the two of them started to dine on their dishes, Ash and Gallade failed to notice Kabu who was jogging outside as the Motostoke Gym Leader ran pass the cafe onto a longer road connecting to the other side of town, as the Fire Type Gym Leader ran across the bridge towards its outskirts without stopping.
It wasn't long until Ash and Gallade finished their food, as the two of them started to explore the city, taking their time to visit places they have never been before when they first came here such as the Berry stand and grocery store to buy what he needed in case he has to camp out again.
"That should be everything we need, I hope." Ash said in a uncertain tone, while looking at the bag of items in his hands.
He was certain that he had bought more then he had needed, as he started to put them into his bag, before looking around to see where the stadium was located, as he noticed that the stadium was nowhere near where he stood.
"Now, the next problem we have is." Gallade started, as Ash turned his head left and right.
"We have absolutely no idea where the stadium is located." The amnesiac Trainer finished.
The duo continued to look around to notice that the stadium was indeed nowhere in sight, and it was quite impossible for them to miss such a large building, as a pair of footsteps cna be heard walking towards them from a distance.
"It won't help even if you look around, young man. That is because the stadium is located above you." An elderly voice sounded, catching his attention entirely.
Turning his head to source of the voice, he could see a n elderly woman with brown hair and green eyes, wearing a yellow dress with a white coat over it, while holding onto a Corviknight-shaped cane, as she walked towards him.
"Above me? You mean to tell me Motostoke has two levels?" The woman merely nodded at his question.
"That's right, when you first enter by train, you arrive at the upper level of Motostoke, which is why you didn't realise that there was a lower level." The woman responded, as she looked at him.
"Follow me, young man. I'll take you to the stadium." She said with simplicity, while walking towards a certain direction.
Having no other choice, Ash decided to follow the woman towards what seems to be a platform connected to a large circle around a huge gear, as Ash looked at the elderly woman who's name he still doesn't know.
"By the way, miss. Who are you?" Ash asked, as the woman chuckled.
"My name is Professor Magnolia, I'm the Professor of the Galar Region and the one who discovered the phenomenon of Dynamax." She responded, introducing herself to the young boy.
As the two of them stood upon the platform, a railing immediately emerged from all sides of the platform, as the gear rotated, bringing them to the upper levels of Motostoke directly in front of the stadium, as the Professor of Galar turned her attention to the young man.
"I wish you luck in your battle against, Kabu, young man." Professor Magnolia directed her words to him, before turning to walk away.
Watching Professor Magnolia walk away towards a certain direction, Ash himself decided to enter the Motostoke Stadium, where he would finally get to have his battle against Kabu to earn his third Gym Badge, only to be amused by the sheer size of the interior despite having enter it for the second time.
"This place is still as big the last time we've been here, doesn't it, Gallade?" Ash asked, earning a nod from the Blade Pokémon.
"You're right, I wonder just how long does it take to build this place." The Psychic and Fighting Type mused out.
After mesmerising themselves with the stadium for awhile, Ash and Gallade decided to walk up to a gym personnel, in order to request to challenge Kabu to a battle for their third Gym Badge.
"Is Mr. Kabu here, sir? I'd like to challenge him to a battle." Ash questioned, as the man chuckled with a smile.
"You're right on time, young man. Kabu has just returned from his run." He answered, as the sound of jogging footsteps can be heard from behind him.
"You must be Reil, I heard quite a bit about you from both Milo and Nessa." A man's voice rang out.
Upon hearing the source of the voice, Ash turned around to see Kabu standing behind him, visibly sweating having just came back from a run as the Motostoke Gym Leader looked at the young man in the eye.
"That's right, and I would like to request for a battle with you." Ash answered with a request, as Kabu nodded with a smile.
"Very well, in that case, I accept your challenge. Let us both have a blazing and fiery battle, upon this very stadium." Kabu told the young boy.
"Go get changed into your Gym Uniform, and let us have a fiery battle in the stadium for everyone to see." The Motostoke Gym Leader added.
Obliging to his words, Ash quickly ran towards the changing room to change into his Gym Uniform, as Kabu himself ran through the door which led into the stadium in order to wait for his challenger to face him on the battlefield.
And it didn't take long for Ash to change into his Gym Uniform, as he hurriedly made his way to the stadium ground, where Kabu was waiting for him at exit of the tunnel and entrance to the large stadium that where they were going to have their battle.
"I've been waiting, Reil. Let us both have a heated battle." Kabu told the young Trainer, as Ash nodded his head with a smile.
"Count on it, Mr. Kabu!" He responded.
After their exchange of words, Ash and Kabu soon walked out of the tunnel together, as the Fire Type Gym Leader jogged his way to his Trainer Box, whist Ash ran towards his end of the field, where both Trainer were seen standing far from one another.
As both Ash and Kabu took their place in their respective Trainer box, a Rotom Drone soon flew down from the sky and above the center of the field, as the Pokémon possessed drone looked both ways before looking back at the front.
"The Gym Battle between Gym Leader Kabu and Gym Challenger Reil will now begin! Each Trainer is allowed four Pokémon, and the battle will be over when one side is unable to continue!" The Rotom Drone ruled out, before glancing both ways.
"Trainers are to present their Pokémon at the same time!" It added, as both Ash and Kabu took out a Poke Ball each.
"3!"
"2!" At the count of two, both Ash and Kabu quickly enlarged their Poke Ball, before getting ready to throw it.
"1!"
After the final countdown, both Ash and Kabu tossed their Poke Balls out, in order to call out their first Pokémon as Ash's Poke Ball burst open to reveal his Pawniard, as a flash of blue light came from Kabu's Poke Ball, to reveal a yellow fox with nine tails, as Ash took out his Rotom Phone.
"Ninetales, the Fox Pokémon, Fire Type. Ninetales are intelligent enough to understand human speech, and is able to live up to 1,000 years from the energy stored within its tails, Ninetales are also known to be vengeful, putting curse on anyone who mistreat it." Ash's Rotom Phone detailed out.
"Ninetales vs Pawniard, begin!" Rotom announced.
At the signal for the battle to start, a bright shine of light soon enveloped the stadium, forcing Ash to cover his eyes slightly as a beam of sunray burst forth from the skies above them, with Kabu giving off the first command.
"Will-O-Wisp!" He yelled out loud, while pointing his hand into the skies.
Ninetales' eyes flashed out a blue light as its tails stood up firmly, each bursting forth a blue sphere of flame as Pawniard stood ready to receive Ninetales' attack, as the Fox Pokémon soon fired all nine spheres at the Sharp Blade Pokémon.
"Cut them apart with Metal Claw, Pawniard!" Ash instructed.
The Dark and Steel Type soon extended out a blade of steel from both his hands, as he leaped into the air before countering with his own attack, while Pawniard was successful in cutting apart the first four spheres of Ninetales' Will-O-Wisp attack, the additional five spheres soon ran themselves into his body, blasting the Sharp Blade Pokémon backwards back to his Trainer, as a orange mark could be seen on Pawniard's right shoulder.
"Pawniard, are you alright?" Ash asked in concern, as Pawniard nodded.
Recovering from Ninetales' earlier attack, Pawniard soon stood back up on his feet, right as his body burst into a ball of flames from the effects of Ninetales' Will-O-Wisp attack, making Ash sweat at the sight of Pawniard's condition.
"Pawniard, use Fury Cutter!" Ash commanded, taking the initiative to attack.
Enduring the burning injury on his shoulder, Pawniard's hands extended out a green blade as he rushed at Ninetales with high speed, with Kabu observing his opponent's movement, before looking at the Fox Pokémon from where he stood.
"Jump and use Flame Charge!" He ordered with a loud yell.
At Kabu's command, Ninetales immediately jumped into the air making Pawniard miss his target, only for Ninetales' body to turn into a whole ball of flame as it charged down at the Sharp Blade Pokémon, with Ash waving his hand to the side.
"Use Iron Defense to hold it down!" He issued out.
The Dark and Steel Type Pokémon soon turned his body into steel, before putting his hand out to guard against Ninetales' attack, as the Fox Pokémon crashed into his body, stopping mid-air as Pawniard continued to stand his ground against the Fire Type Pokémon.
While it seem to be working for a few minutes, Pawniard's body started to spark in small bits of flames right as Ninetales fully charged its body into the Sharp Blade Pokémon, causing him to fly back to Ash's side of the field, as his body started to erupt in flames, from the effects of his status condition.
"Pawniard!" Ash called out, before taking out his Poke Ball.
"Return for now!" He recalled, returning Pawniard back into his Poke Ball.
After recalling Pawniard back into his Poke Ball, Kabu soon did the same with Ninetales as the Fox Pokémon was absorbed into its Poke Ball, with Kabu keeping it into his pocket before taking out a second Poke Ball from his pants.
"Salazzle, let's go!" He yelled out.
The Fire Type Gym Leader's second Poke Ball soon burst open to reveal a black lizard-like Pokémon, as it stood on the ground before getting on all fours, staring at Ash intimidatingly, right as Ash took out his Rotom Phone.
"Salazzle, the Toxic Lizard Pokémon, Fire and Poison Type. Salazzle releases a unique pheromone that attracts other male Salandits, its poisonous gas can also be made into perfumes that is popular among people." Ash's Rotom Phone detailed out.
Having learned about Salazzle's nature, Ash soon took out his Second Poke Ball before enlarging in his hand as he held it in front of himself.
"Lairon, come forth!" He called out.
His second Poke Ball soon burst open to reveal the Iron Armor Pokémon, as Lairon slammed its forelegs onto the ground in preparation for battle against its opponent, with Ash taking the initiative to attack.
"Take Down!" He ordered.
Lairon soon begin to charge towards Salazzle with its body glowing in a white veil, as the Toxic Lizard Pokémon stood where it stood, awaiting Lairon's approach, as Kabu soon raised his hand into the air.
"Attract, let's go!" He screamed out in command.
Confusing Ash as Salazzle winked its eyes, creating dozens of pink hearts which soon made their way towards Lairon, as the Iron Armor Pokémon soon stopped in its tracks before looking around as the pink hearts started to surround it, before colliding with its body, though to no avail, as Lairon begin to stop its legs on the ground in rage, confusing Kabu and Ash.
"Is your Lairon by chance a female, Reil?" He asked, as Ash scratched his head.
"Well... No, my Lairon is a male but he hates females." Ash answered, with a sheepish laughter, making Kabu open his mouth slightly in shock.
Upon hearing Ash's words, Salazzle was visibly taken aback by what Lairon's Trainer had just revealed, as Kabu begin to laugh a little in excitement, before looking at Ash from his end of the field.
"it's been a long time since I last saw a Trainer as interesting as you, Reil, and that's what makes this battle worth while!" Kabu laughed out, before looking at Ash with eyes blazing with excitement.
"So, let me show you what a real FIERY battle is like. Use, Toxic!" He yelled out in command.
Salazzle soon created a purple glob of purplish goo in her mouth, before firing it off at Lairon, as Ash watch the attack fly towards his Pokémon, knowing that Poison Type had effect on Steel Types, as the glob of purple goo, splashed onto Lairon's body, as the liquid slid down his body.
But to Ash's surprise, Lairon begin to glow in a purple light as particles of purple orbs started to appear above his head, signifying that he has been successfully poison, as Ash recoiled in shock at what has just happened to Lairon.
"I thought Poison Type moves don't work on Steel Types!" He exclaimed in surprise, as Kabu chuckled with a smile.
"Naturally, yes. However, my Salazzle has the Ability Corrosion, which allows her to hit even Steel Types with her Poison Type moves." Kabu explained, making Ash sweat in both nervousness and surprise.
As the poison continued to eat away at Lairon's strength, the Iron Armor Pokémon decided to stand tough as he stared at Salazzle who was visibly smirking, only for Ash to clench his fist before putting it outwards.
"Sand Tomb!" He ordered.
Mustering his strength, Lairon soon slammed the floor with his forelegs, creating a spiralling quicksand underneath Salazzle's feet, as the vortex of sinking sand started to drag the Toxic Lizard Pokémon to the center of itself, only for Kabu to observe Ash's next course of action.
"Now, use Superpower!" The Amnesiac Trainer commanded.
Adhering to Ash's command, Lairon's muscles begin to turn bulkier in both appearance and size, as he soon charged at Salazzle, who was still trapped within the vortex of his Sand Tomb, though the Toxic Lizard Pokémon wasn't the least frightened at the sight of the charging Pokémon.
"Sludge Wave!" Kabu instructed.
Salazzle quickly drew her tail out from within the spiralling sand, as she started to wag it around before tilting it to the side, to unleash a wave of poisonous water, as the Poison Type attack charged its way towards Lairon's location.
"Use Iron Defense and charge through it!" Ash ordered, knowing that with Salazzle's Ability, Slude Wave was still going to hit hard.
Hardening his body with steel, Lairon bravely charged through Salazzle's Slude Wave attack, as he rammed his entire being into the Toxic Lizard Pokémon, sending her flying through the air back to Kabu, before flinching in pain from his poison status as he watch Salazzle get back on her feet.
"I'm impressed at your Lairon's willpower, Reil. Being able to charge through Salazzle's Sludge Wave while having her Toxic eating away at his strength." Kabu complimented.
"You're as strong as the people say you are, Mr. Kabu, I can hardly even find any loopholes in your strategy." Ash responded, making Kabu chuckle.
At the sound of their words if exchange, both Pokémon continued to stare down at one another as they started to each a step to the side each, watching each others movement closely, in order to counterattack when given the chance.
"Take Down/Flare Blitz!" Ash and Kabu announced loudly.
Lairon at Ash's command, immediately charged at Salazzle with his body glowing in a white veil of bright light, only for Salazzle to return in kind, as her body erupted into a huge ball of flame, before charging towards Lairon at Kabu's order, and upon crashing into one another at full force, a huge explosion soon occurred where they collided.
The force of the blow made Ash cover his face, while Kabu stood firm where he stood, as the dust of cloud continued to grow larger in size, only for a something to fly out of the smoke, as it landed in front of Ash, which was revealed to be Lairon who had swirl for eyes, shocking him as Salazzle walked back to Kabu with a badly brushed body.
"Lairon is unable to battle!" Rotom declared, upon confirming Lairon's condition.
Ash soon took out Lairon's Poke Ball as he recalled the Iron Armor Pokémon back into his device, as he stared at his Poke Ball.
"Thanks for your hard work, Lairon, take a good long rest." Ash thanked, as he watch Kabu do the same to Salazzle.
Ash soon took out another Poke Ball as Kabu swapped Salazzle's Poke Ball for another, as BOTH Trainer enlarged their devices, in order to keep the battle going.
"Pawniard, come forth!" Ash called out.
"Ninetales, your aid is required!" He yelled out.
From Ash's Poke Ball came his Pawniard, as the still burned Sharp Blade Pokémon stood firm, as his nemesis appeared from its Poke Ball, where Ninetales' came out majestically from its Poke Ball, as both Trainer stared at one another.
"Pawniard's burned and Ninetales is uninjured. The only way I can win is if Pawniard lands a Revenge, so we'll probably have to lure it in." Ash thought to himself, as he looked at the field, before noticing the Sand Tomb left behind by Lairon's battle.
"Ninetales, use Flame Wheel!" Kabu roared out.
This snapped Ash out of his thoughts as he watch Ninetales leap into the air as it turned into a wheel of flame, before charging its way towards Pawniard's direction, as the Sharp Blade Pokémon stood ready to receive its attack.
"Pawniard, use Metal Claw on the ground!" Ash commanded.
Obeying Ash's command, Pawniard's hand soon extended out a long metallic blade as he slashed it across the field, resulting in a cloud of dust being created as Ninetales charged through the cloud, before landing on the ground when it hit no one.
After its failed attempt, Ninetales started to look around through the cloud of dust, as it could see a small orange light in a distance, which was also seen by Kabu himself as Ninetales once again leaped into the air to perform another Flame Wheel attack, as the Fox Pokémon charged at the light's direction.
"Now, Pawniard, do it!" Ash ordered.
Upon hearing Ash's signal, the ball Pawniard quickly leaped away from wherever he was standing at, as Ninetales crashed into the spot where Pawniard last stood, but when the dust of cloud cleared out, Ninetales found itself trapped inside Lairon's Sand Tomb, being unable to get out after crashing full force into it.
"Alright, now, use Revenge!" Ash instructed.
Pawniard's body soon started to glow in an orange veil, as he begin to gather up a large amount of energy in his body, before leaping at Ninetale with the energy gathered into his hands, as the Fox Pokémon looked quite shocked, as Kabu raised his head.
"Now, Ninetales, Hex!" He roared out, in pure confidence.
At Kabu's command, Ninetales' eye begin to glow purple as its nine tails shot out from the sand as each tip glowed in a purple light, resulting in a purple air being formed. As Pawniard got close to Ninetales to strike, a shroud of purple air soon gathered around his body, as Pawniard swung his hand down upon Ninetales, creating a large explosion, as his body too erupted into a cloud of smoke, as Ninetale' Hex hit its mark.
"Pawniard!" Ash called out in concern.
Within the cloud of smoke stood the silhouette of both Pawniard and Ninetales, as both shadows fell above one another, as it cleared out to reveal both fallen Pokémon, as Rotom flew towards their direction.
"Both Pokémon are unable to battle!" It declared.
Ash and Kabu soon recalled their fallen Pokémon before keeping their Poke Balls into their respective pockets with a word of thank, with Kabu looking at Ash's direction from where he stood.
"It impressive on how you manage to make use of Lairon's Sand Tomb to trap my Ninetales, Reil." Kabu directed his words at the boy.
"Thanks, though I kind of thought of it on the spot." Ash responded, impressing Kabu with his quick thinking.
"Now, you're one very interesting Trainer, Reil." He told the boy before taking out another Poke Ball.
Ash watch as Kabu enlarge the device before throwing it into the field, to re-summon his Salazzle onto the battlefield, as the Toxic Lizard Pokémon grinned at Ash despite her wounded body.
"I've only got two Pokémon left, and Gallade is in no position to use any Psychic Type moves. I'll just have to power through it with Corviknight's abilities." Ash thought to himself.
Taking out his third Poke Ball, Ash soon enlarged the device in his hand before aiming it at the field to call out his third Pokémon.
"Corviknight, come forth!" Ash called out.
As his third Poke Ball burst open, to reveal the Raven Pokémon from within, as Salazzle looked at her still fresh opponent, with both Pokémon and Trainer staring at one another from where they stood.
"Salazzle, use Toxic!" Kabu instructed.
Salazzle soon opened her mouth to create a purple glob of poison, as Ash clenched his fist before throwing it out with pure confidence in his Pokémon's ability to counter it.
"Not this time, use Hurricane!" Ash ordered.
Corviknight at Ash's command, immediately flapped his wings hard, creating a strong gust of wind as the force of his attack soon tossed not only Salazzle's Toxic attack but the Toxic Lizard Pokémon herself into the skies, as Ash opened his hand.
"Steel Wing!" He told the Raven Pokémon.
After his Hurricane attack, Corviknight quickly charged at Salazzle who was suspended in the air with his wings glowing in a white light, before slamming it into the Fire and Poison Type Pokémon, sending her to the ground, as she crashed right in front of Kabu's feet, unable to move from her spot.
"Salazzle is unable to battle!" Rotom declared.
Kabu soon recalled his fallen Pokémon back into her Poke Ball, before keeping it into his pocket only to pull out a third one from his pants as he enlarged the device in his hand before aiming it at the field.
"Centiskorch, forward!" Kabu roared out.
From Kabu's third Poke Ball came a large centipede-like Pokémon that looked extremely similar to Victoria's Sizzlipede, as the newly known Pokémon to Ash stood up straight with it only body as he pulled out his Rotom Phone from his pocket.
"Centiskorch, the Radiator Pokémon and the evolved form of Sizzlipede, Fire and Bug Type. Centiskorch's body temperature can burn up to a total of 1,500 degree Fahrenheit, and through fermenting the food it eats, Centiskorch is able to turn it into flammable gases." Ash's Rotom Phone detailed out.
Ash soon kept his Rotom Phone back into his pocket as Kabu looked at the Trainer opposite of him, before taking out Centiskorch's Poke Ball from his pants, before aiming it at the Radiator Pokémon.
"Centiskorch, come back." He recalled.
Ash watched as Centiskorch was returned back into its Poke Ball by Kabu, as the Fire Type Gym Leader looked at Ash while clutching the ball in his hand.
"You're strong as they say, but I'm afraid it ends here, because I'm about to show you just what a fiery heart is!" Kabu told the boy before extending his right hand to the side.
From the bottom of his Dynamax Band, particles of light soon shot out from the center as they inject themselves into Kabu's Poke Ball, turning it white as the ball grow twice in size before growing another three times larger, right as Kabu tossed the boy into the field with all his might.
When the ball erupted into a large flash of light, dark purple clouds soon covered the entire arena as a purple lightning struck the ground, with a silhouette of Centiskorch growing twice in size before growing even more larger then the last, as it broke apart to reveal its newly changed form, the gigantic Centiskorch was now longer in length and larger in size, with two long whisker going pass its face with a brighter underbody as red cloud can be seen circling around the top of its tail.
"So, his going Gigantamax, huh? Then I should respond in kind!" Ash mumbled, before taking out Corviknight's Poke Ball.
He then recalled the Raven Pokémon back into his Poke Ball, before looking at Kabu as he flipped his hand to where the bottom of his Dynamax Band was visible, as particles of light soon shot out from the center, before injecting themselves into Ash's Poke Ball, turning it white as it grew twice in size before growing another three times larger.
Finally with his ball ready, Ash soon tossed it into he field where it burst into a flash of bright light, as a small black silhouette of Corviknight can be seen, as the silhouette grew twice in size and finally three times larger, revealing himself to have a Gigantamax Form of his own, as both gigantic Pokémon stared at one another.
"Let is begin with Max Flutterby!" Kabu ordered.
Centiskorch quickly coiled itself in a circle, before creating multiple green orbs of light as it started to fire off a green beam with butterflies at Corviknight's direction, as Ash quickly raised his hand in the air.
"Max Steelspike!" He commanded, while punching the floor.
Utilising the red blades flying around himself, Corviknight soon drove the blades into the ground, as large metal spikes soon erupted from the ground, marching their way towards Centiskorch, as both Max Moves crashed into one another, resulting in a large explosion, as the cloud made by the attack was blocked off by a pentagon shaped barrier that protected the audience.
"Now time for the blazing determination from the depths of my heart!" Kabu roared across the stadium, before looking at Centiskorch.
"G-Max Centiferno!" He roared while punching his fist to his palm.
This command made Centiskorch coil its body up against itself, as a massive fireball started to form in front of its body, making Ash and Corviknight sweat at the sheer heat of its attack as Ash looked at Corviknight from his perspective before waving his hand.
"Use G-Max Wind Rage!" He yelled in command.
Corviknight immediately flapped his wings to create a wind storm around Centiskorch as the huge cyclone started to swallow up the Radiator Pokémon's entire being, with the red blades joining the battle, as they dive into the cyclone after Centiskorch, as the G-Max Move of Corviknight started to blaze up in flames, making Ash widen his eyes.
Soon enough, the cyclone made by Corviknight turned into a massive vortex of flames as Centiskorch was successful in launching its attack at Corviknight in addition using its opponent's attack against himself, as the massive fireball struck Corviknight dead center in the body, as the wind storm dispersed in multiple direction, smashing into the barrier that protected the audience from all sides.
"Corviknight!" Ash yelled in concern for his Pokémon.
It didn't take long for a huge beam of red energy to shoot out from Corviknight's spot, as he slowly started to shrink down in size, before reaching back to his original form and size, completely exhausted after taking damage from both his own G-Max Move as well as Centiskorch's G-Max Move.
"Corviknight is unable to battle!" Rotom declared.
As Corviknight's defeat was announced, Ash noticed that Centiskorch was still in its Gigantamax Form, before taking out Corviknight's Poke Ball to recall the Raven Pokémon, as he soon put Corviknight back into his Poke Ball.
"It's all up to you, Gallade, so your best." Ash told his partner, as Gallade nodded.
As his fourth and final Pokémon, Gallade soon stepped into the field before looking up at the gigantic Radiator Pokémon before him, as the Blade Pokémon took a battle ready stance, getting himself ready to fight against his opponent.
"Max Quake!" Kabu commanded.
Centiskorch soon used its tail to slam the ground, as a huge fissure started to make its way towards Gallade's direction, as the Blade Pokémon looked at the moving fissure in front of himself, before hearing Ash's command.
"Jump backwards and dodge it!" He ordered.
Hearing Ash's command, Gallade soon did a backflip as the fissure stopped underneath his feet, as a burst of earth energy erupted from the ground, with Gallade barely avoiding taking a full on blow from Centiskorch's Max Quake.
After missing its Max Move, Centiskorch soon started to glow red as its Dynamax energy started to disperse from its body, with the Radiator Pokémon shrinking in size, before returning back to its original form, as Kabu looked at his Pokémon.
"Fire Fang!" He ordered.
"Brick Break!" Ash instructed his Pokémon.
Centiskorch's mouth soon started to blaze up in flames as it slithered its way towards Gallade, who charged at the Radiator Pokémon with his hands glowing in a white veil of light, but as Gallade was in range to attack, the Psychic and Fighting Type soon punched down on Centiskorch, only for the Fire and Bug Type to quickly move to the side, as Kabu slammed his hands on his knees.
"Wrap!" He yelled out in command.
Gallade was soon quickly immobilised when Centiskorch started to wrap its body around his arms and legs, as the Radiator Pokémon immediately bit down on Gallade's shoulder, making him flinch in pain as a small explosion was created from the force of the attack, with Centiskorch having Gallade held down with its body.
"Gallade, try and break free!" Ash called out to his Pokémon, hoping that Gallade can break free from Centiskorch's grasp.
Gathering his willpower, Gallade tried to force Centiskorch apart as his body started to glow in a purple light, to no effect as Kabu clenched his fist together, before looking at Centiskorch who was still coiled around Gallade's body.
"Time for the finale, Leech Life!" He commanded.
Centiskorch soon created two long fangs from its mouth, as it bit down on Gallade causing the Blade Pokémon to screech in pain, as the Radiator Pokémon threw the Psychic and Fighting Type Pokémon back to his Trainer, with Gallade unable to stand on his feet, as Centiskorch landed in front of Kabu, completely unharmed.
"Gallade is unable to battle, Centiskorch wins! Therefore the winner of this Gym Challenge is Gym Leader Kabu!" Rotom announced loudly, as the whole arena erupted in cheers.
Ash quickly made his way to Gallade, as he started to help his partner Pokémon get back in his feet, as he lend his shoulder to support Gallade's stance, as Kabu walked over to them with Centiskorch by his side.
"That was a good battle, Reil." He commented, as Ash sighed softly.
"Although we didn't really put up much of a fight against your Centiskorch." He told Kabu with sadness in his voice.
"Look ahead young man, you may not put up a fight today, but you may put up a greater fight another day! When your Pokémon manages to gather even more willpower then today, in sure we will fight again." The Fire Type Gym Leader, told the young Trainer as Ash nodded.
Suffering his first defeat, Ash quickly helped Gallade out of the arena as the duo slowly made their way back to the lobby. Professor Magnolia who was up in the audience seats throughout the entire battle, soon made her way out of the arena towards the lobby, leaving the cheering crowd behind her.
Aftet managing to get Gallade to the lobby, Ash quickly helped Gallade onto a seat, as he rested his Pokémon on the chair, before sitting beside the Blade Pokémon with a rather exhausted look, having never lose so badly to a single fight before.
"We didn't even manage to touch Centiskorch once, throughout that entire battle..." He sighed out, obviously sad about his loss.
"What's worst, Kabu didn't even decide need to use a fourth Pokémon." Gallade responded, just as equally saddened as his Trainer.
While both Trainer and Pokémon was quite saddened at their defeat, a sound of footsteps soon made their way towards them as the sound of a cane hitting the floor can be heard nearby them, with a familiar voice ringing out at their direction.
"Don't get too down just yet, young man. It's still too late to be sad right now, because I'm about to give you a life lesson." An elderly woman's voice rang out.
