Chapter 10: Seeking True Strength
A/N: Three chapter update streak!
Otherwise enjoy!
Ash who was within Motostoke Stadium, right after he had lost against Kabu in an earlier fight, was now face to face against Professor Magnolia, who approached him shortly after he had been defeated by Kabu, as the elderly Professor looked at the young man.
"Don't get too down just yet, young man. It's still too late to be sad right now, because I'm about to give you a life lesson." She told the young boy, as Ash looked at her in confusion.
"Life lesson?" This made Professor Magnolia nod her head, as she started to face the entrance.
"Follow me." She said in an ordering tone.
Getting not even a single chance to respond, Ash simply followed Professor Magnolia out of the stadium and into the streets of Motostoke, as the elderly Professor soon stopped in her tracks in front of the lift that led them to their destination the first time they met.
"Your Gallade evolved into what he is, after evolving into Kirlia, isn't that correct?" She asked, shocking Ash at how she knew.
"Seeing your shocked expression, my guess must be correct." She added, as Ash soon opened his mouth
"But, how did you guess it, Professor?" He asked, making Professor Magnolia look at both Trainer and Pokémon.
She first gazed at Ash before turning her attention to Gallade, before turning her gaze to the center, as she held onto her cane before hitting it against the floor lightly.
"The answer is simple, Reil. During your battle with Kabu, I saw how your Gallade was unable to gather any if his psychic energy to use any Psychic Type moves." She started, before looking at the Blade Pokémon.
"And the answer for that too is also very simple, you see. When Pokémon who uses an Evolution Stone to evolve, changes their form too quickly, they will be unable to control their power and that prohibits them to use certain moves." She told the young man, before continuing.
"Since Gallade who evolves using a Dawn Stone, have not much prior training evolved too quickly. His body was unable to adept to the rapid changes in both his body and power, therefore is unable to keep his psychic powers in check." She explained, making Ash and Gallade look at one another.
It was true that he made Gallade evolve into who he is after he had became a Kirlia, but Gallade himself too knew that it was what he wished for, as both Trainer and Pokémon looked quite disheartened at what they wanted too quickly, as Professor Magnolia stomped her cane on the floor, snapping then out of their expressions.
"Of course I'm not saying there isn't a way, for Gallade to regain control of his psychic powers." She told the young boy, who immediately brighten up.
"If there is a way, please, I want to help Gallade." He pleaded, as Professor Magnolia smiled.
"The only way for Gallade to regain his psychic powers, is to go through training tougher then what he had originally went through when he evolved into Kirlia." She told him, before signalling for him to follow her again.
Obliging to her gesture, Ash decided to follow Professor Magnolia down the lift as she soon brought him to the entrance of Motostoke, before entering what seems to be the Wild Area, the place where they first met Pawniard, as the Galar Region Professor soon took a few more steps forward, before taking out a Poke Ball from her coat.
"Let's have a mock battle, your Gallade against mine." She challenged, before tossing her Poke Ball into the air.
Her Poke Ball soon burst open to reveal her own Gallade, and unlike Ash's green Gallade, Professor Magnolia's Gallade was blue in colour, as the elderly Professor's Blade Pokémon took a battle stance, preparing himself for combat.
"Have your Gallade to challenge mine, this should give your Gallade the first insight he needs." Professor Magnolia directed her words at Ash.
The amnesiac Trainer soon looked at his partner Pokémon, as Gallade decided to step forward in front of Professor Magnolia's Gallade, as the Galar Region Professor signalled for Ash to have the first move, being extremely confident in her own Gallade's skills.
"Use Brick Break!" Ash ordered, accepting Professor Magnolia's offer to start first.
Gallade's hand soon glowed in a green light, as he rushed at Professor Magnolia's Gallade, who stood extremely calmly in his spot, but as Gallade made his first swing, the Professor's Gallade simply tilted his head to the side, before using a single hand to push away Gallade's other hand, easily repelling his opponent's attack.
"Shadow Sneak!" Ash commanded.
Ash's Gallade soon cast a black shadow towards the Professor's own Gallade, as the shadow rose from the ground to obscure his vision, as the Blade Pokémon charged at his opponent from behind the cover of the shadow, as Professor Magnolia looked at her Pokémon.
"Block it." She instructed with calmness in her voice.
As her Gallade closed his eyes, the Blade Pokémon quickly extended out his right hand to stop Gallade's punch, as the amnesiac Trainer's Gallade found himself unable to get out of his opponent's grasp, as the Professor stomped her cane on the ground lightly.
"Psycho Cut." She told her Pokémon.
Her Gallade's right hand soon took up a purple glow, as the Blade Pokémon slammed his right hand into Ash's Gallade's abdomen, sending him stumbling backwards as the young Trainer caught his Pokémon before he could hit the ground.
"Gallade, you alright?" Ash questioned in concern for his Pokémon, as Gallade nodded.
Professor Magnolia's Gallade soon relaxed itself, as the Psycho Cut on his hand soon dispersed, with the Galar Region Professor walking towards Ash and his partner Pokémon, as she stood in front of them, with a rather stern look.
"What makes a Pokémon isn't just strength alone, young man. It's the bond and skills of both Trainer and Pokémon that makes them strong, so, it is until you can achieve that piece, will your Gallade be able to use his psychic powers." She lectured.
"While you and Gallade may share a relatively strong bond, because of how much you trust one another. You lack the necessary skills to make that bond come to fruition, why don't you take a walk around the Wild Area and see the scenery for yourself, and maybe you will find the answer you need." She added, lecturing Ash about Gallade's missing strength.
After her speech, Professor Magnolia soon walked back up the stairs and into Motostoke, leaving Ash behind to experience what he needs for himself, having giving him enough words of advice, as the amnesiac Trainer stood in his spot for a moment, before looking at Gallade.
"Let's start exploring, maybe we'll be able to use this time to get in a little lesson or two." Ash mused out, getting excited to explore the big field.
Both Trainer and Pokémon soon made their way through the open fields of the Wild Area, wondering what kind of Pokémon they will find if they do, as the young Trainer and his partner walked through what seemed to be a large flower field, being the home of several Grass Type Pokémon.
"This greenery reminds me of the trees back at Postwick." Gallade mumbled, making Ash chuckle.
"Does it now? I was kind of thinking the same thing actually." He responded.
Ash and Gallade soon arrived at a much more open area, as the amnesiac Trainer noticed that he was standing in a huge plain, before an idea shot in his head, as he placed his bag in the ground before rummaging through his belongings.
"This place is the perfect place to set a camp, and I'm sure both Pawniard and Corviknight are dying to eat my curry again." Ash chimed out, before magically pulling out his tent pitching equipment.
"Mind helping me get the rest out, while I pitch the tent, Gallade?" Ash requested, as the Blade Pokémon nodded.
The Psychic and Fighting Type soon unclipped three of Ash's Poke Ball from his belt, before tossing them into the air to call out his three other friends, as Ash was busy pitching the tent together, only to be assisted by Pawniard and Corviknight, who helped him hold up the still unbuilt tent.
"Thanks you two." Ash thanked with a smile.
"Gallade, Lairon, mind helping me get the pots and berries out from my camping bag?" Ash shouted across the field, to his two other Pokémon.
Gallade and Lairon soon ran over to Ash's huge camping bag, as the Iron Armor Pokémon stare at the stuffs inside, not knowing which is the pot as he watch Gallade take out a medium sized Berry Pouch, while fumbling on which berries to take out, as the Rock and Steel Type decided to drag out a random item from the bag, as Gallade lifted it up straight, revealing it to be the pot.
It wasn't long until they were joined by Ash to took out a tri-stand as he placed the pot on it, handing from a metal hook, before looking at Gallade who gave him the Berry Pouch in return as Ash looked across to Corviknight and Pawniard.
"I'll need some help to gather firewood, would you two go into the nearby stacks of wood to find some?" Ash requested, as Gallade stood up.
"I'll go along with them, and let Lairon help you out here." This made Ash mod his head, as Gallade ran off with the others.
While his three Pokémon were gathering firewood so that he could cook, Lairon carefully walked over tk his bag, before dragging out a folded table as he laid it on the ground, waiting for his Trainer to unfold it, due to him not having any hands, only for Ash to unfold it upon noticing Lairon pulling out the folded table from the bag.
"Thanks, Lairon. I'll handle things from here, can you help find me a few stones?" He told the Iron Armor Pokémon, who happy obliged as he walked off.
It didn't take long for Ahs to set up both the table and the chair for himself, as Gallade's team returned with a pile of small firewood, at the same time upon their arrival, Lairon himself too returned with a good amount of large stones in his mouth as Ash took the necessary items he needed tk start a fire.
After placing the firewood underneath the pot, Ash soon surrounded in stones, before pouring water into the pot, and finally setting the firewood on fire with the matches he had in his bag, before pulling himself back, in order to not get burned by the flames.
"This should do it, now, to set up the ingredients." He mumbled to himself, before looking at his team.
"Why don't you guys take a rest for now? I'm sure you're all tired from the previous battle." Ash told his Pokémon.
It didn't take long for three of his Pokémon to fall asleep, as Pawniard laid on Lairon's body casually using the Iron Armor Pokémon as a bed, while Corviknight was resting beside the tent, with Gallade approaching Ash, who was busy cutting up the berries he had used for his previous meals.
"What's the matter, Gallade, can't sleep?" Ash asked, only for Gallade to sit on the chair.
"It's not that, how did you get over the fact that we lost to Kabu so quickly?" The Blade Pokémon questioned, noticing that Ash's enthusiasm was not of someone who just came out from the defeated zone.
"Well, I haven't actually. It still kind of hurts, losing to someone so badly, but if losing can really make someone a better Trainer, then I really don't mind losing much battles if that's what it takes to be stronger." The amnesiac Trainer answered.
Taking Ash's words into consideration, the Blade Pokémon soon fell asleep on the table as Ash continued to make his dish, while his Pokémon rests around the area, and it was long before the sun started to set, as the aroma of his curry started to fill the nearby area, instantly waking up both Corviknight and Pawniard from their slumber, as the noise they made woke up both Gallade and Lairon.
"I see that you guys are awake, and it's perfect too, because the food has just been made." Ash told his gang.
Setting up four plates, Ash soon placed the spaghetti onto each plate, before covering them with
Setting up four plates, Ash soon placed the spaghetti onto each plate, before covering them with the curry he had made, and it didn't take long for both Corviknight and Pawniard to start drooling on the table, before being taken away by Gallade and Lairon respectively, as they waited for Ash to finish setting the plate.
"Alright, it's done, time to eat!" He yelled out.
Even before he could take a bite out of his meal, Corviknight and Pawniard quickly went to devour their plates, as the two Steel Types were eating his food, as if they hadn't eaten for days, only for the rest to watch them devour like some starved Pokémon, while slowly eating their dishes.
"It's been a while since we last camped out, don't you think?" Ash asked, earning a nod from each of his Pokémon.
The gang continued to slowly devour their food, as the bushes beside them started to rustle, successfully earning their attention as Lairon and Pawniard stood in front of the rustling bush, in case it was some wild Pokémon trying to attack them during they're meal, that was until something small rushed out at another direction.
Whatever dashed out wasn't going towards them, as they turn their head to the pot to see a wild Morpeko eating the curry like some starved Pokémon, as Ash noticed that it wasn't yellow and brown but black and purple with angry looking eyes, as it quickly changed back to its normal self, after devouring a bit of Ash's curry.
While Morpeko was busy clinging onto the steaming pot, it didn't take long for the Mouse Pokémon to notice what it was hanging on, before leaping into the air from the heat of the pot, as Ash soon caught the Electric and Dark Type in his hands.
"Where have I seen this Morpeko before?" Ash chimed out, wondering who's Morpeko it was until a voice started to ring out.
"Morpeko... Where are you...?" A soft yet panting voice called out, as the Mouse Pokémon rose up.
"Mor!" Morpeko quickly called out, giving away its position.
The bushes once against started to rustle, as someone familiar popped out from the bush as Ash looked at the person, who was revealed to be Marnie from where he stood, with her Morpeko in his hand, as the Mouse Pokémon was waving hello to its Trainer.
"Marnie? I was wondering why this Morpeko looked familiar." Ash called out, as Marnie looked rather glad.
"Reil! What are'ya doing out here?" She asked, only for Ash to point at the tent behind him.
It was clear to Marnie that Ash was camping out in the Wild Area, until her Morpeko stumbled into their camp, as Ash returned Morpeko to Marnie, who held the Mouse Pokémon with her arms.
"Say, how did your Morpeko ended all the way out here? It just suddenly jumped out to eat my cooking." Ash asked, while taking a bite from his still half-eaten meal.
"Well, ya see. I hadn't have the time to restock on Morpeko's food, and this little fella got kinda moody from hunger and ran off after smelling something." Marnie explained, before sighing.
"I'm sorry if Morpeko ate ya food, this fella must have ate quite a lot." She apologised as Ash pointed to the pot behind her.
Curious as to why Ash pointed behind her, Marnie turned around to see a pot full of curry, still boiling from the fire beneath it, as Ash smiled at her.
"On the contrary, Morpeko only took four bites before jumping away from the heat of the pot." The young man told the Spikemuth native.
"Really? It's actually kinda surprising that Morpeko didn't eat everything ya had." She voiced out in shock.
While they were having a conversation, a sound of grumbling stomach soon rang out as Ash turned to find the source of the noise, as he turned around to face his Pokémon, who all shook their head, denying having made any noise, right as he turned to Marnie, who looked quite embarrassed about the noise, making Ash laugh lightly.
"It seems that Morpeko isn't the only hungry one, while you're already here, why not join us for dinner?" Ash invited, before putting down another chair.
"Ya sure? I don't want to be a bother, ya'know." She said with uncertainty, as Ash laid down a plate of food for her.
"It's fine, really. I could really use some human company, if you know what I mean." Ash responded, gesturing for her to sit.
Taking up Ash's offer, Marnie soon sat down with Morpeko on the table chewing on a left over seed it had, as the two Trainer ate their food, that was until Marnie decided to strike a conversation with Ash.
"If ya near Motostoke, that means ya must have fought Kabu, right?" She asked, as Ash merely nodded.
"Well, yes I did, but I can only say that it didn't end as well as I hoped." He sighed, remembering his defeat in Kabu's hands.
"Kabu himself is a league of his own, his skills isn't like Milo's or Nessa's." He added, remembering Kabu's strength.
The two of them soon continued to eat their meal in silence for awhile, until Ash decided to try to learn more about his friend, as he lift his head to look at Marnie's direction.
"Say, Marnie, what make you decided to become a Trainer?" He asked, as Marnie sighed a little.
"Well, my hometown is kinda in a mess right now, so I was hoping to become Champion to make lively again." She answered, while taking another bite from her food.
It wasn't long until both Ash and Marnie finished their food, as Ash decided to wash the dishes with Gallade by his side drying them, and by turning his head to the right, Ash noticed Marnie looking quite troubled about something, as she continued to stare at Ash's well-made tent, only to be approached. Y Ash himself.
"What's the matter, Marnie? You look kind of troubled." Ash questioned, making Marnie look the other direction.
"It's nothing, but I guess I'll make my way to Motostoke now." She answered, turning to face the other direction.
Her statement made Ash raise an eyebrow as he noticed that the sky was beyond dark at this point, and as he brought his vision down onto his tent and thinking about the dark sky, an idea struck Ash's head as he hammered his fist onto his palm.
"I get it, you don't have a tent!" He exclaimed loudly, making Marnie jolt up in shock.
"Ya don't have to say it out loud." The girl said in a embarrassed tone.
This made Ash chuckle as he looked at Marnie before gesturing for her to stay in the tent, as he pulled out a sleeping bag from his own bag, before laying it on the ground.
"It's already too dark for you to head towards Motostoke at this point, and it's not really right for a girl to stay outside, so you can stay in the tent instead." Ash's voice rang across the area.
"And there's no point in arguing because I've already made up my mind." He added, not giving Marnie a chance to respond.
Ash soon laid down on his sleeping bag, as Gallade slept under a nearby tree with Corviknight above him, while Pawniard once again used Lairon as a bed, as he laid on top of the Iron Armor Pokémon to take a nap, and taking up Ash's offer, Marnie entered his already made tent in order to rest, as she let out a soft smile before turning in for the night, with her Morpeko by her side.
The next day rose quickly, as Ash got up from his sleeping bag, before getting up to wash himself with Corviknight soaking his head in the water spot nearby, as the young Trainer went on to make breakfast for his team. It wasn't long until Marnie stepped out of his tent, as Ash looked at her direction, with a scoop of curry in his spoon, as he gave Marnie a smile.
"Morning, I've made breakfast, so why don't you eat before going off?" Ash offered, before laying down a plate of cooked rice.
"Thanks, ya kinda remind me of a girl I met on the way." She thanked, while speaking her mind.
"While not as reserve as ya, she's too energetic." The Spikemuth native added.
After half an hour have passed, Ash had already cleared up his camping spot, as he stuffed his camping equipment into his camping bag, before strapping it behind his usual bag, with Marnie walking up to him with a thankful look.
"Thanks for letting me stay the night and for the food." She told him, only for Ash to chuckle.
"You're welcome, and have a safe trip back to Motostoke, the road back up can be kind of rough." The amnesiac Trainer responded, giving her a warning about the proceeding terrain.
Having exchanged their words, Ash and Marnie soon parted ways as the two of them walked off in separate direction, with Ash going downhill and Marnie going uphill. While venturing away from Motostoke, a shining star soon shot pass above his head towards another part of the Wild Area, as Ash turn his head to see where the shining star flew.
"I wonder what was that, isn't it too early for a shooting star?" Ash questioned.
As both Gallade and himself continued to observe where the shining star landed, the sky soon turned purple as a large spiral cloud can be seen from a distance, shocking Ash at the occurring phenomenon as he looked at the sky near him.
"Doesn't this only appear when a Pokémon Dynamax?!" He yelled out in shock, before feeling a huge tremor.
"This doesn't look good, come one, Reil, let's go take a look." Gallade retorted, holding Ash preventing him from falling.
After getting back his footing, Ash and Gallade quickly raced to the source of the Dynamax battle location, only to run into multiple fleeing Pokémon as the horde hastily made their way out of the area, with a huge metallic spike appearing from the ground moments later, nearly striking them in the process.
Finally bypassing the horde of fleeing Pokémon, Ash and Gallade were now face to face against what seem to be a gigantic floating Pokémon that resembled some sort of floating machine with a long spiky nose, with two arms as Ash took out his Rotom Phone from his pocket to scan the Pokémon before him.
"Metang, the Iron Claw Pokémon, Steel and Psychic Type. Metang is able to produce a strong magnetic field which allows it to float in mid-air, using its strong psychic powers, Metang is able to stop objects from moving, and has enough strength to tear through steel." Ash's Rotom Phone detailed out.
Observing the picture of the Metang on his Rotom Phone, Ash could notice that the colour was oddly different from the one on his phone, as the Metang before him wasn't teal in colour but white in colour instead.
"Metang, stop what you're doing, you're hurting the other Pokémon!" Ash screamed out, as Metang turn to face his direction.
"Tang!" Metang gave out a loud angry roar, as it drove its hands into the ground.
Moments after doing so, huge metal spikes immediately erupted from the ground, only for Gallade to pull Ash away to safety, as the Max Steelspike fired by Metang crashed into the ones that was behind them, as the attacks erupted into a huge explosion, barely catching them in it in the process.
"Thanks, Gallade." Ash said with gratitude, before looking at Metang.
"Doesn't look like Metang is in a talking mood right now, giving its angry expression." The Blade Pokémon commented.
As he got up from the ground, Ash could notice that Metang's eyes were glowing red as the Dynamax energy around the Iron Claw Pokémon wasn't close to dispersing, and without any other options, Ash turned his head to Gallade, making the Blade Pokémon nod his head.
"If does seem like fighting is our only option here, Reil." The Psychic and Fighting Type started, as Ash bumped his fist into his palm.
"Then let's do it, let's stop Metang here where it stands." The young Trainer chuckled.
Gallade quickly took on a battle stance, getting himself ready for battle as he lifted his head to observe his gigantic opponent's next course of action, only for Metang to crash its hands together, before slamming it onto the ground, creating a large crack beneath Gallade's feet.
"Use Shadow Sneak and dodge it!" Ash instructed.
The Blade Pokémon quickly stretched out his shadow towards Metang before disappearing into the darkness of the shadow, as the crack erupted into a gust of yellow light, missing its target with Gallade appearing underneath Metang's body, unseen by the Iron Claw Pokémon.
"Brick Break!" The young Trainer commanded.
Charging his right hand with a glimmer of white energy, as the Blade Pokémon slammed his attack against Metang's underbelly, sending the Iron Claw Pokémon backwards, only for it to quickly recover from the attack, as Metang's body started to glow purple, as the light dispersed from its body.
Confusing both Trainer and Pokémon, a ring of psychic energy soon shot down from the sky at Gallade, as Metang's Max Mindstorm hit its mark, forcing the Blade Pokémon to guard himself against the attack, as Metang's Psychic Max Move was taking a huge hit on Gallade.
"Gallade, I know this sounds crazy, but don't block the attack, try and take it into your body!" Ash called out to his Pokémon, having a crazy idea in mind.
Choosing to believe in Ash's crazy idea, Gallade soon took down all forms of resistance as the Max Mindstorm continued to rain down on his body, causing Gallade mortal damage as the Blade Pokémon's body started to glow in a purple light, with Gallade trying to absorb the attack instead of blocking it off.
Ash at the same time was hoping that his plan would work, as he watch Gallade absorb Metang's attack into his own body, only to notice a wave of psychic energy gathering within Gallade's right hand, as he looked at his Pokémon.
"Now, release it!" He commanded.
Gathering all his might, Gallade immediately swung out his right hand, before firing off a huge blade made of psychic energy at Metang, effectively knocking the Iron Claw Pokémon backwards a few metres, as the Steel and Psychic Type Pokémon immediately created two black orbs beside its body, before firing off two beams made of darkness energy at Gallade.
Upon Metang's immediate retaliation, Gallade used his hands to block against the attack only to be send backwards to Ash's location, as Gallade's body started to glow orange before bursting out a large amount of orange energy, as the blades on both his arms started to extend in length, while growing in size.
"Teleport!" Ash instructed hoping that Gallade's psychic powers had returned.
Much to his joy, Gallade immediately vanished from sight as he appeared above the gigantic Iron Claw Pokémon, as the Blade Pokémon went unseen by the Steel and Psychic Type Pokémon, with Ash clenching his fist together.
"Psycho Cut!" He ordered.
Gathering the remaining psychic energy in both his blades, Gallade immediately spun a round in the Ur while firing off two blade of psychic energy into Metang's head, dealing it a significant amount of damage, right before slamming his fist onto its head, knocking it to the ground as the Iron Claw Pokémon started to shrink down in size.
After finishing their battle, Gallade immediately went back to Ash before kneeling on the ground from exhaustion as the young Trainer held onto his Pokémon, before helping him on his feet, only for Metang to open its eyes.
"Metang?" Metang said in a questioning tone, before looking around the area where it had went on a rampage.
"You're saying you don't remember? You went on a rampage just now, and it wasn't easy stopping you too." Gallade told the Iron Claw Pokémon, who looked disheartened.
"It's all good, Metang, at least the Pokémon know you didn't do it on purpose." Ash reassured the Steel and Psychic Type.
After hearing Ash's reassuring words, Metang soon gave a smile before floating in the air showing that it had recovered a bit of its strength, before pointing its hand at Ash's Gallade, with a smile on its face.
"Tang, Metang!" Metang rang out, as Ash looked at Gallade who nodded.
Without any words of communication, Ash soon took out a Poke Ball from his pocket, before enlarging it as he held it out towards Metang, who pushed the button with its left hand as the ball opened to suck in the Iron Claw Pokémon, which then shut itself after absorbing the Steel and Psychic Type, as it clicked without even shaking once.
"Welcome to the team, Metang." Ash mused out, directing his words at the Poke Ball.
He then clipped Metang's Poke Ball onto his belt, as the sound of someone walking towards him can be heard, only for it to stop eventually.
"Well done, young man. It would seem that absorbing Metang's Max Mindstorm helped Gallade regain his psychic powers." Professor Magnolia's voice sounded, making Ash turn around.
"Thanks to your words, Professor. If you didn't tell me what I was lacking, I doubt I'd be able to help Gallade at all." Ash said with a cheeky smile, making Professor Magnolia chuckle.
The duo could then hear someone running toward them from a distance, as they turn around to see a man roughly a bit older then he was running towards them. He had purple hair and yellow eyes, wearing a black shirt with a fancy cape overlapping his shirt with a pair of white trousers and overlapping shorts and a pair of black and white sneaker while wearing a hat on his head.
"I heard that there was a rampaging Dynamax Pokémon around here?!" He yelled out, only for Professor Magnolia to sigh softly.
"You're a bit too late, Leon. This young man has already taken care of it, long before you even arrived." The Professor retorted, shocking the man, Leon.
Hearing the Professor's words, Leon turned his head to look at Ash before smiling, before extending out his hand to the younger Trainer.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Leon." Leon introduced himself formally as Ash shook his hand.
"Reil is my name, and this here is my partner, Gallade." Ash returned words of introduction, as Professor Magnolia looked at Ash.
"Believe it or not, Leon here is the Champion of the Galar Region." She told him, making Ash turn his head to Leon.
Leon merely gave off a happy smile, as Ash's face turned into a shocked one, with his mouth gaping open, and that was because Leon did not give off much of a Champion's vibe, much less acted like one as Gallade looked at his Trainer from his position.
"Professor, I think I'm going back to Motostoke to have my second challenge against Kabu." Ash told her, making Professor Magnolia nod her head.
"Thanks for everything you've done to help, I really appreciate it." He added, with Professor Magnolia smiling.
"You're very welcome, Reil. Now, I wish you luck against Kabu." She told him.
As Ash carried Gallade back to Motostoke to recover, Professor Magnolia and Leon soon made their way towards another direction, with the Professor chewing out on Leon about something, as the Champion of Galar was more or less frightened at her speech.
