*PLEASE READ*
To avoid any spoilers before every chapter, giving warning for violence, profanity, inappropriate scenes, I will use this opportunity to tell you now. From any point onward, this fanfiction will likely turn dark. There will likely be violent scenes, there will be profanity, and there may be inappropriate scenes. I strongly advise anybody under the age of 16 against reading further on. It is, however, entirely your decision whether you wish to continue reading, although there will most likely be disturbing and descriptive scenes which will be inappropriate for young readers.
I'd like to clarify a few things regarding this fanfiction. I have, on multiple occasions, read fanfictions that are solely romance based. In my personal opinion, they are not very entertaining to read. I'd like to clarify that this is not solely romance based, although romance will likely be involved. Note that I often change the genre and characters of the story (in my story description) as I progress through the story. This is purely to avoid spoilers. This fanfiction is not yet near the climatic stage, and it is going to get more intense and heavy with the plot. And as I've previously mentioned, there are a lot more implications in the text than a lot of ordinary fanfictions you may read. Everything has either a reference to the past or future of the fanfiction, or reference to real life events or morals. You may be either disappointed or relieved/excited to know that this fanfiction is most likely not even half way through, although as I get to the thicker parts of the plot I will be posting a lot faster. (I write faster when I'm excited about what's happening.)
Just in case you need reminding, T = Transition in and out of memories, M = Transition from memory to memory.
Double Defence Against the Dark Arts that day consisted of the same seating plan. Hannah noticed that Shinayd was looking extremely uncomfortable, her eyes darting across the room at the other students and Umbridge. Hannah watched her, now feeling somewhat guilty with what she made Umbridge say to her the other day. She didn't even know if what she made Umbridge say was true. In fact, she didn't even care if it was true, she just knew it would be offensive to any normal Slytherin. Fred and George had convinced Hannah earlier that day to try and get Shinayd on our side, on the side against Umbridge. Perhaps, if she turned against Umbridge completely, then so would the rest of the Slytherins, seen as she was so popular. "Shinayd…" Hannah risked a conversation starter.
"What?" Shinayd snapped. Perhaps another approach.
"What's up your ass? Your work is in front of you, not written on Umbridge's face." A more Slytherin approach.
"Nothing of your concern." Shinayd eyed Umbridge a little longer before ducking her head to her work.
"Just fucking tell me, it's not as if I have the friends to spread shit to." Shinayd eyed Hannah dangerously, before ducking her head down again. "Legilimency is a handy skill." Hannah pressed on.
"Like fuck you know Legilimency." Shinayd muttered, her head still down.
"So you give me permission, in other words?"
"I'm not scared of you." Shinayd suddenly looked taken aback as her memories flashed before her eyes.
T
A stream of paranoid looks, eyes darting between each Slytherin.
M
Sitting uncomfortably in her group of friends, all chatting oblivious to Shinayd's discomfort.
M
Umbridge stalked her way over to Shinayd's desk. The voice echoed with extreme reverberation. "I know you're a mudblood, bitch."
M
"Darling, I know you wouldn't want us to be seen by your friends." Mr. and Mrs. Mariana wove as they bid farewell to their daughter, 1km away from Kings Cross Station.
T
Shinayd sat, shocked. Her mouth dropped, her eyes wide. "You can't…"
"I won't tell a soul." Hannah gave a sympathetic look. "Under one condition."
"What?" Shinayd gave Hannah a pissed off and frightened look.
"Get all your friends to despise Umbridge." Shinayd let out a long sigh.
"Easy enough."
Hannah arrived back into Snape's quarters after her detention, where he cleaned up her wounds with Murtlap Essence. "Sir," Hannah began, Snape's head shot up with slight surprise. "Do you think, possibly, you could give Adrian and I permission to walk about after curfew?" Snape glared at Hannah.
"And why would I allow you to do that?" His stare would've sent a Gryffindor fleeing from his rooms.
"I think you'd understand more than anyone the disadvantages of being introverted in a crowded school, sir. A conversation during the day is hardly private." Snape thought over her proposal. He still hardly ever saw her conversing with anyone, other than Adrian and the Weasley twins at the rarest of times. Perhaps the contact could do well in her growing up to have a bit more of a promising life than his.
"As much as I do trust Adrian with your safety, Miss Byron, I'll still consequently be questioned as to why I allowed two students to roam the school alone past curfew, especially when one of them is known to perform dangerous acts at such hours." Snape gave Hannah a knowing look.
"Well, Adrian is meant to be tutoring me for Charms, and he hasn't had the opportunity to with my ongoing detentions."
"So you expect me to lie?" Snape furrowed his eyebrows.
"For a double agent I would've thought you'd be used to the concept, but if you insist on truth, we could chuck a few spells here and there." Hannah reasoned. Snape let out a heavy sigh.
"I'll write a note to Dumbledore, and floo to the Slytherin Common room, then."
"Thanks, sir."
"Oh, and Miss Byron." Hannah raised her head. "I expect you to speak to your superiors, like myself, with more respect than that." Snape drawled.
"Perhaps, when you call me by my first name, asshole." Hannah could swear she saw a faint smile cross his face, before Snape disappeared in the green flames of his fireplace.
Snape and Adrian entered through the door to Snape's quarters, obviously avoiding flooing to discuss something on their walk from the Common room. "I expect you both to arrive here before 2am. I'll escort you to your Common room myself, at the time of arrival, Mr Pucey." Adrian nodded, his eyes unconsciously fixed upon Hannah. "You may go."
Hannah and Adrian arrived in the same room Hannah and Dani had practiced in previously. Adrian sat on the floor with his back against the wall, his arms resting on his raised knees. "So, what were you and Shinayd talking about in Defence today?" Adrian conversed as Hannah sat next to him.
"Just something Umbridge said to her the day before."
"You mean when you Imperiused Umbridge?" A smirk crept to the corner of his mouth.
"Ah, so you caught on?" Hannah gave an equally mischievous smirk.
"You're like a closed book with an overly descriptive blurb of implications."
"What do you mean by that?" Hannah furrowed her eyebrows in puzzlement.
"Impossible to understand unless you've read the book." Hannah raised her eyebrows. "Not that I've read the book, just that I've seen enough to decipher those implications."
"I could say the same about you." Hannah raised her eyes to level with Adrian's.
"Possibly, but you portray yourself more malevolent, whereas I tend to aim for innocuous." Adrian's smirk lengthened.
"Perhaps I am malevolent."
"If you are, it's more towards yourself than anyone else." Adrian's eyes softened, as they drifted to Hannah's scarred leg, and back up to her eyes.
"I'm sure Pansy would disagree." Hannah attempted to lighten the conversation again.
"Well, as long as I'm on the safe side then I'm content with whatever." Adrian joked. "Anyway, what did you make Umbridge say to Shinayd?"
"Something I assumed any Slytherin would find offensive. It so happened that what I made her say was true, therefore Shinayd was pretty upset. I promised her that I wouldn't tell a soul, but I think it's needless to tell you. I think you're insightful enough to figure it out yourself." Adrian nodded.
"Yes, well. I think my assumption is pretty accurate. How did you get her to tell you what Umbridge said?"
"I didn't." Adrian gave Hannah a puzzled look. "Legilimency. Not that I needed to, I just thought it'd be an entertaining way to frighten her." Hannah blew air out of her nose in amusement.
"Malevolent." Adrian smiled at Hannah.
"At least I'm not submissive."
"I think you're very much mistaken if you think I'm submissive. I'm… defensive, would be the word. Retaliatory, when it comes down to certain situations."
"I could hardly envision that." Hannah joked.
"Just hope you never have to witness it, then." Adrian gave a slightly more serious expression. "It'd be a rare occurrence." The two sat in uncomfortable silence for a moment.
"By the way Snape told Dumbledore you were teaching me charms." Hannah broke the silence.
"Do you really need teaching?"
"Probably not. I've read all of the "Book of Spells", but I did tell Snape we were going to throw some spells around just to soften his lies." Adrian pointed his wand in an upwards diagonal and fired a stream of random spells.
"Good enough?"
"Yep." Hannah smiled. Adrian smiled in return. The two maintained eye contact for a long moment, before awkwardly moving their heads away as they simultaneously realized they were staring.
"You wanna head back?" Adrian eventually voiced.
"Not entirely. But we probably should." Hannah looked at the time on her watch necklace.
"Yep." Adrian returned awkwardly, before they walked back to Snape's quarters.
Thanks again for reading. Please review, please please please correct any grammatical mistakes I've made, the offer for having a character in this fanfiction remains (details are on pretty much every other chapter), and a little apology: I now have 2 jobs. Well 3. And basically it's difficult to balance this and those jobs at the same time. I'm literally working a full time job with 2 part time jobs filling in every other hour I'm awake. Anyway, although I have very little time for writing, I promise that I'll dedicate every moment I do have off to completing the fanfiction. And I PROMISE that this fanfiction WILL be completed. I promise I will not leave you hanging with an unfinished story. But yeah. I do have a day off of work completely tomorrow, so I'll try my darnedest to get a chapter done then.
Anndddd I just got a power cut as I was about to post this. Thank you 3g, you are my hero.
