The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 4
Tasha led Reid into the refrigerator where she kept the bodies that were waiting to be picked up for burial, when they stepped inside Tasha said, "she's right here" as they walked up to the table. Reid uncovered the head and his heart dropped, laying there in front of him very dead was Penelope, her face was bruised, she'd had beating and looking at her Reid said, "there is no way that Derek could have done this to her".
Tears streamed down Reid's face as he stood there looking down at her, the woman he loved as a sister was gone, she was gone and not coming back, he couldn't believe that another person left him and he didn't get to say goodbye". Tasha looked at Reid and said, "are you alright Spencer?", Reid wiped away the tears and said, "no, no I'm not, my friend, my sister is gone, she's gone" but he blew out a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry Tasha", she shook her head and said, "you don't have to be sorry, she's your friend and you love her".
He looked at Tasha as he tried to get back into agent mode and said, "what about the scar from where she was shot, is it here?", Tasha nodded her head and moved the sheet to the side to show the scar, Reid said, "I was hoping that it wasn't there, I was hoping that it wasn't Garcia". Tasha said, "so was I Spencer, so was I" as they stood looking down at her.
Tasha said, "what do you want me to do with the body, does she have any family?", Reid said, "she has four brothers in California but they don't get along so it will be us, her family that will handle everything", Tasha nodded her head and said, "again, I am so so sorry Spencer, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers", Reid said, "thank you Tasha, thank you for everything", Tasha weakly smiled and said, "I'm sorry that this happened to her, she was one of the sweetest people I've ever met".
Reid nodded his head and said, "she was like the sister that I never had, she was always there for me, she would always help me when I needed it, she was without a doubt one of my best friends". Tasha put her hand on Reid's shoulder and said, "and I hope that when you find the person that actually did this to her, that you throw the book at him", Reid said, "ohhh don't you worry, when we find the person that did this, they are gonna pay and pay big time", he then turned around and walked out of the fridge and headed back to his wife.
Once Reid got out into the hall he stopped and laid his head against the wall and said, "it happened again, another person I loved is gone and I didn't get to say goodbye, I didn't get to say goodbye", he put his head in his hands and said, "I love you Garcia and I promise you that whoever did this to you will pay, they'll pay in spades", he then slowly started making his way back up the hall to his heartbroken wife.
JJ looked up when she saw Reid walk into the room, she said, "please tell me that it wasn't her, please Spence", he hugged her and said, "I wish that I could Jayje but I can't, it's her, it's really her, Garcia's gone, she's truly gone". JJ broke down in her husband's arms and he held her and ran his hand up and down her back as he tried to console her as his own tears streamed down his cheeks, their hearts were all broken, they had lost the heart and soul of their team, their all seeing, all knowing oracle was gone and now their mission was to find him and make him pay.
Back at the jail Mia and Hotch were still with Derek when the officers from earlier came back into the room, one of them said, "he'll be heading out for arraignment in a few minutes, I assume that you both will be going with him?", Hotch and Mia both nodded their heads yes and she said, "of course", they then stood up and Hotch said, "don't worry Morgan we'll find out who really did this and make them pay", Derek said, "whoever did this to her deserves to die", Hotch looked at Mia and then said, "we'll see you in the court room".
Derek nodded his head and then watched as they turned around and walked from the room, it was only a few seconds before he was told you stand up so that they could put his cuffs on for transport. He stood up and put his hands behind his back, he blew out a deep breath as they snapped them shut and then one of the officers said, "okay Derek, it's time", he nodded his head and headed across the room and out the door.
Derek's arraignment, Emily sent Reid and JJ a message letting them know to meet them at the court house before joining Dave, Hotch and Mia as they made their way to the court house.
