Hey! RGQC here again with another chapter of Mordred in Remnant for you guys to enjoy and man… The entire Lostbelt 6 huh? Now how am I gonna integrate it into the story without it breaking somehow? Might have to break some parts of the lore to make this work I suppose. This might take some time. Especially after reading through part 3.
You know, it would be hilarious if someone made a TV tropes page on this story, ya know what I mean? Besides that, we got comments to address!
Triscythe59: Yea, the Knight of Rebellion's influence continues to grow with time. How will she face Raven? Stick by to find out! As for Mordred having a sing off against Weiss? Hmmm… Interesting idea.
Zekken182: LiSA is dope yo! And don't worry, Mordred is the only SI in this story of mine if you are concerned.
Jamieoeyes: You raised some really good points. That I would address it later on. Related to Dust, I honestly don't know. Can you credit me where you get some of your info from? That would be helpful. And yes, Jeanne would eventually meet up with Mordred in the future. Sieg appearing? I'll think about it. Oh yea, if I do make Mordred sing in the future, it would probably be one of the Fate songs so don't worry.
SkyChaser17: Yea I honestly feel that I need to adjust the pacing of this story. Everything is moving way too quickly in just a day or so. I plan to rectify that starting from this chapter. Sun and Neptune would appear in future chapters as long as Mordred stays in Mistral until they and their team goes off to Vale for the festival. If you're wondering, Morgan and Salem would also be fighting each other for obvious reasons. So, think of this like a free for all situation.
Alexander of the imperial Fist: Good to know and thanks! :)
Calvinthekill: A shame about that though, since this content isn't your type.
Guest-Questioner: Interesting Idea you've suggested… I'll think about it. Mordred would prefer to work alone and not with Ozpin anytime soon. This occurred a couple of weeks after Beacon started, so Amber is stuck comatose under Beacon.
Runningstar bloodrage: Partially. She had heard about it but had not played much of the story fully yet before Zelretch took her.
NoXIV: Wow. Didn't expect to see you in my stories at all, NoXIV. Nice to see you here and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
ManticoreBlues: Whole Quilty not Quilty thing? I'm sorry but what do you mean by that? Anyways, glad you enjoyed it as much as I have at writing it.
For those who pointed out that Mordred's decision to try to drain magic from Grimm was rather stupid and small-minded. At the time, she was under the assumption that dark magic from RWBY was different to the magic used in Fate. So, she thought that it shouldn't affect her in the slightest.
It was dumb, yes but it was my way to show our dear MC inherited Mordred's rashness and willingness to act without thinking through it without care of the consequences. A side effect of Mordred's influence on our MC.
As with my other works, I do not own RWBY or any of the Fate series. All of them belong to their respective owners as such.
Chapter 5
Battle for the Relic
The world of Remnant. A world that hides many secrets of itself that is yet to be discovered. It could be the fact that humanity is more concerned in keeping itself alive against the Grimm than to care about the secrets of the world itself. Whatever the reason, humanity knows that some places are never to be explored in their lifetime.
One example is the Land of Darkness itself. The modern resident of Remnant wouldn't know its real history, as it too has faded to time and legends. Some say that it was the place in which the god of darkness resides while his brother created his creations of light. Others say otherwise. But one thing everyone could agree on.
There's more to their world that meets the eye.
And that time is slowly approaching midnight.
Salem. Queen of the Grimm was brooding on her crystal throne alone. Ever since time itself, she had thought that she had seen everything. But just a few weeks ago, a strange portal of sorts opened up somewhere in Remnant itself. At first, she was confused as to its origins or why it showed up. However, things changed dramatically as the Grimm kilometres away from it began to surge towards it, and then she finally understood when she looked into the eyes of her Seers near the portal.
This portal leads to an entire new world, rich in magical energies. She could feel it through the Seer she is controlling, and it drives them into a frenzy as they charge through the portal and into this new realm. As the Grimm began to scour across this new land, they came across some sort of dark entity that began to attack them, though they were quickly overrun due to the endless tide of Grimm exiting the portal. Whatever it was, it seemed to be rather aggressive and hostile as the Grimm began to spread out like an infection in a wound.
As Salem continued to observe this new world, they finally found a village and began to descend upon it. People that looked more like humanoid wolves could be seen fleeing in shock and panic, while others raised arms as they charged to defend their homes. Though, Salem could hear them calling the Beowolves, black dogs. As strange as it was, they fought well and held them off, just barely. It does not help that as more of these wolf people panic, the more Grimm begins to flood in towards the Village due to the massive amount of negative emotions felt.
As the slaughter continued, green knights that had horse heads for helmets showed up, and they and the local people began to push the Grimm back with relative success. Until Ursas and Nevermores showed up.
Then it ended up as a stalemate.
Salem still has to wonder to herself after reflecting back. What caused this portal to appear in Remnant? And why? And as she thought through it, something or someone filled with magical energy could be felt among her Grimm connected to her. Her eyes widened as she stood up from her throne and looked towards where Mistral was. She could feel it.
Power.
So much magical power...
"Interesting… This is unusual, what are you exactly?" Salem murmured out loud as she could only wonder with interest. Though that interest would soon turn to confusion as she was suddenly disconnected from whatever that was.
Salem then sat back down on her throne and began to spy upon the new world again, only to see a pale girl with pink hair in a red dress laughing her head off as she unleashes dark crimson red magical bullets onto the coming Grimm. Each bullet tearing through each Grimm as if it was butter to begin with before she, rather gracefully, jumped in before summoning a rather sinister looking bow with multiple strings before she plucked one of the strings on her bow.
In an instant, multiple Grimm were instantly killed with massive claw marks appearing in every single one of them as she cried out in pure ecstatically in her voice. "Come dark beast! Let me hear your screams to prove my worth to my mother! Now die like the weaklings you all are! HAHAHAHA!" She laughed maniacally as she dashed in and kicked some Beowolfs that came for her with such force that they yelped out as they flew back hard and dissolved into nothing.
She then leapt into the middle of the fight as she then began to blast every single Grimm in sight with her magical bullets, while occasionally stabbing them with spikes that emerge from her back. All while a psychotic smile on her face. Though, as the slaughter continued, said smile was soon replaced with the expression of boredom. After all, she butchered them with not a single Grimm landing a hit on her due to the massive power difference between her and these dark beasts. And the fact that they do not bleed.
Especially that.
For the first time in a long time, Salem for a second felt a tinge of fear. She needs to make new plans now, as now with this new powerful wildcard, who knows what they would do. Should they decide to launch an expectation into Remnant, perhaps she could use this to her advantage...
Mordred POV
There she is, Raven. The woman in front of me, who happens to be the Spring Maiden, and the key to get the Relic of Knowledge that I require. Now, how am I going to get her to meet me at Haven Academy to retrieve the Relic? But before I could speak, Raven spoke up first.
"I don't recall inviting this guest into our home. Either I'm losing my memory," She then raised her voice, "or you've all lost your spines!" She then yelled out. Talk about Déjà vu I'm getting.
"Raven Branwen. About time you showed up." I greeted her as I slammed Clarent into the ground before resting my hands on it. "If you've taken any second longer, I would have killed at least a dozen of your tribesmen until you showed up, so do not blame them for their unwillingness to fight me." I bluntly stated.
"And what do you want?" Raven then asked as Vernal was staring at my blood-soaked armour and sword.
"The Relic of Knowledge, in return for not butchering your pathetic excuse of a tribe." I made my demand as several of Raven's bandits began to whisper among themselves or looked at their leader for answers. The most common thing I've heard from them was them asking about the Relics and whether they are real.
Raven, for a second, looked stunned at my threat to butcher her tribe. Vernal, on the other hand, her face turned to one of rage as I could see her trembling at the thought of me slaughtering her 'family'. Raven then calmed down before she ordered her tribe.
"Leave us. Pack your things, then break down camp. We're moving."
All the bandits did what their leader had ordered them to do. In the meantime, I continued to glare at Raven through my helmet before I spoke again.
"I do not care whether you run or hide, at all that has happened so far. As long as you help me, I'll leave your tribe alone."
"And who are you again?" Raven then retorts.
"Someone who wants to focus on the true threat of this goddamn world but needs the Relics, and you will help me. I know you're keeping the Spring maiden with you." I responded back as I bet that Raven's eyes widened behind that mask from hearing what I had to say, as well as Vernal, who looked surprised.
Gotcha. Right where I want you.
"Like I said. I'm willing to turn a blind eye to your… disgusting existence. Once I have what I want, well… I will leave you tribe alone. You will meet me at Haven by midnight today. Fail to turn up, and I'm pretty sure you'll know the consequences." I continue to speak before pointing towards the corpse on the ground.
"You talk as if walking straight into Haven will be easy." Raven then said as she folded her arms.
"That's why we are doing it in the middle of the night. Leave the key to the vault to me. And do watch out for curfew patrols. We wouldn't want you to be caught, would we?" I then asked with a grin under my helmet as I swore, I saw Raven's hands twitched.
"How much do you know about me?" Raven then asked as I gave a shrug in response.
"More than you would ever guess. So, do we have a deal? You'll help me get the Relic in Haven and in return, I won't kill your people." I said as I raised my hand out as Raven stared at my hand as Vernal could be seen gazing upon her leader.
"Very well then…" Raven then spoke after a pregnant pause as she shook my bloodied hand.
"Excellent. Now, use the remaining time to do what you need to do. I expect to see you by midnight." And with that, I let go of her hand as I began to walk out of the camp as various bandits fearfully gave way to me as they packed up.
"Raven Branwen… Your people will live tonight, you and your second, however…" I thought to myself as I exited Raven's camp before giving it one look back and finishing what I had thought.
"... Will die tonight."
Raven POV
As Raven watched the bloodied armoured knight leave her campsite, she was rightfully alarmed and confused. Some random person in a suit of armour just barges into her camp and demands her help in reclaiming the Relic from Haven? And if she doesn't, that person would slaughter her entire tribe by themselves? She couldn't even tell what gender is behind that helmet but whoever they were.
They know more than a normal person should. The fact that this person knows about the Relics and Salem from what she could have guessed, as well as the location of her tribe. The question is how.
How does someone know about the Relics or Salem? Did someone leak it out? No, impossible. Was that person a servant of Salem? And why did she agree to it? As that person laid out their demands, she felt compelled to accept it after some time to think about it. And now she has to go there with Vernal or else that person would butcher her people. She could fight it out but, that person was not lying that they could wipe out her tribe, them covered in blood does not help and the fact that there was a corpse of one of her tribesmen as well as a severed head which says much.
Raven has to prepare herself for anything to come. It was then that her second Vernal then spoke to her.
"Raven, are we doing what that person asked us to do?"
"We are, I doubt we have much of a choice. Besides, I can't get a read on them, can you?" Raven then asked her second who only shook her head.
"No, besides the fact that, whoever that person is, they know that we have the Spring maiden's powers…"
"I see… Then we best make preparations for tonight, I've got a bad feeling…" And with that, Raven and her second walked off back to their tent to prepare to retrieve the Relic of Knowledge unaware that it would be their last night.
Mordred POV again.
As I made my way back to Mistral on my bike and back to my casual uniform. It's surprisingly handy that the blood on my armour also disappears alongside it, good. I've heard that getting blood off metal is hard as all hell. But I got another question that was bothering me.
How I acted so casually about killing earlier...
It terrifies me.
Yet it seemed inevitable at this rate. Securing both the Relic and the Spring maiden's powers would allow me to handle my mana issues, rid Mistral of the banditry of the Branwen's since most likely, they would fall into infighting with the death of Raven and her second (Sorry Yang). And it would allow me to focus on eliminating Salem's lackeys one by one.
Cinder, Tyrian, Hazel and Watts. The main followers of Salem. Killing them would weaken Salem's influence and would allow time for that old man to get his shit together.
Hopefully.
Then that's the issue with the presence of other servants on Remnant. They too would need to be dealt with, either with force or get them on my side. Ok, guess I'll think over my plan on how to secure Lionheart's pocket watch. That's the key to get to the vault and I have the evening to make my own preparations.
Perhaps when he's sleeping? Hmm…
But first, food to calm myself, then I make my own plans.
A couple of hours later and back to Mistral...
As I drove through Mistral, several bystanders could be seen pointing and waving at me. No doubt they were aware of what I performed yesterday and I guess I'm now popular among the locals for one hell of a performance I did. I could only give an awkward smile and waved back at them; I am not used to having attention to me. Why do I keep doing all this to myself?
No matter. I then found a pretty good restaurant and got myself a burger and fries alongside it and began to think of how am I supposed to get that pocket watch. Lionheart would no doubt keep it on him at all times…
I could try and sneak into his office and take his watch or when he's sleeping but I won't be able to find it due to the darkness and I risk waking him up. Alternatively, I get some covering clothing and rob him of it. That could work except that he would know the importance of it and would send search parties after me. And that might lead to the main hall being more guarded or something…
I'm not good at this plotting, am I?
At least this burger is rather tasty and the fries are crunchy. But I should definitely wait until it gets dark to try and snag it. Unfortunately, my meal was ruined when some perverted asshole decided to lay his hands on me. Let's just say I crushed his fingers before I left the restaurant.
Great. I've got people that want me.
Yet as I made my way back, I've come to one conclusion. I should be able to pressure him (Threaten to beat the shit out of him) to give me his pocket watch since he behaves more like a snivelling rat. Or I could just take it and mana burst out of there since it would look like a ghost took it from him and I doubt anyone would believe him.
If that's the case, I need my cloak again for this to work. And back to Mordred's default outfit, I hate wearing it, it makes me feel naked in it. Though I- I mean, Mordred finds it rather comfortable somehow…
The hell was that?
Oh, and I need a mask. I think the mask I got from the festival should do the trick.
And so, I entered my hotel room to pick up my cloak which was thankfully repaired and washed by the hotel staff. How nice of them. At the same time, I went through my bag and managed to find a cat mask which I got earlier this morning at the festival. Good, this should work… Now to wait for the night to come before I come for Lionheart.
As day turned into night, I could see the stars again as I rode on my motorbike and sped forth towards Haven Academy in Mordred's outfit all with a cat mask in my bag. Lionheart does not know me but I know where he is. But I'll need to use mana burst for the remaining journey to remain undetected. Thank you RWBY for showing us where Leon's office is.
I then hid my motorbike a distance away before closing in the distance with Mana burst as I headed straight for Lionheart's office in the night as I jumped from building to building with the help of my servant powers, which I'm getting a hang of it thanks to Mordred's influence, which I did my best to slow it down.
It wasn't long till I reached the windows of the office before peering into it and I saw Leon on his desk reading through a whole bunch of papers before I glanced at the cabinets…
And I sense dark magic in one of them…
Interesting… Is that what I think it is?
"So that's where you hide your Seer in which you communicate with Salem…" I muttered to myself before I took out my mask and wore it on my face. At the same time, I raised my hood over my head as I was preparing to jump right into his office when suddenly, Leon spoke.
"This can't be right… no no no. The reports can't find the person with the same blood sample as the one we found? This doesn't make any sense… just who is that person?" Leon wondered as I watched him rest his head on his hand in frustration. It seems that he and the authorities are searching for me. And blood samples?
…
Shit right! My fight with Danzou caused me to spill a bit of my own blood! And he's trying to find out who it belongs to! But I could only breathe out with a sigh of relief since his efforts are wasted now that I think about it. I'm not native to Remnant so there's no data on me yet. Let's keep it that way.
Now then.
SMASH! SLAM!
And with that, I jumped through the window and into Leon as I grabbed him and pinned him to the ground with my foot to his neck while giving him no time to react. Due to the fact that my armourless clothing has heels on it, I have to adjust my foot or else I would puncture his neck. Can't have him die now yea?
"Don't move, or I'll snap your neck like a twig! This is your first and only warning." I warned him as I put just a bit of pressure on his neck to hammer in the point, all while Leon could be heard choking and struggling to get up as his arms gripped my leg in a rather futile effort to push me off him.
The Mordred part of me wanted to knock him out for touching my leg but I had to resist it, there's other matters to attend to now that I am here. It didn't help that the scroll on the table started to ring, probably his secretary was asking what was that noise.
Leon, understanding the situation, relents as fear could be seen in his eyes. Most likely due to the fact that I showed up out of nowhere and already had him pinned to the ground with my foot against his neck.
"Excellent. Before we do anything else, let's get rid of unwanted listeners." And with that, I raised my hand as I summoned Clarent as Leon's eyes widened in surprise. In an instant, I then proceeded to throw it straight at the cabinet as Clarent pierced right through it and embedded itself onto it. There was an audible crack, followed by the sound of something screeching and dying. Clarent then soon dematerialised at my command.
Ah, that must be Salem's seer.
Leon's eyes widened significantly as he started to struggle even more than it was before, no doubt because I destroyed his only contact with Salem and his life is forfeited because of my actions. But at this point, I couldn't care what happened to him.
He sold his allies just to save his own skin all because he believed that Salem is unkillable. Not wrong to say but that's a dick move on his part, like really. And don't get me started on how he allowed himself to become a pawn of Salem, just so he could live longer at the cost of others.
Pathetic.
...
Oh god, I'm becoming more like Mordred.
"Now that we don't have any more peering ears on us, now we can talk. First of all," I then proceeded to remove my foot from his neck only to pick him up with one hand and slammed him against the wall. Leon was understandably shocked and terrified at me at this point, not that I can blame him. Thank you B+ Strength for allowing me to pick up people clearly larger and heavier than me.
"You will hand over your pocket watch or I'll break every bone in your body slowly and painfully until you give it to me!" As I gave my demand to Leon, I could see his pupil shrinking in fear as he let go of my arm and began searching through his coat for it.
Well, that was easy. Too easy.
"Is he planning something?" I wondered to myself as I watched Lionheart then pulled out his pocket watch and presented it to me. I then proceeded to snatch and dropped him as I observed it.
"W-ho-Who are you? What are you?!" Leonardo then asks with terror after gasping for air with his hand on his throat.
"Someone who needs to do what needs to be done. And why did I do that? You sold your life to someone who would dispose of you when your usefulness wears out. After all, you had already sent several huntsmen to their deaths, am I right?" I proceeded to keep the pocket watch as I glared into his eyes through my mask. Leon winched at my glare as if I was staring into his soul.
"I… I… I have-" Whatever excuse Leonardo was trying to spout was denied when I kicked him in the face hard enough to break his nose and sent him flying across the room.
"Silence! I did not ask for excuses, did I?!" I roared at him before continuing on.
Do me a favour, keep quiet as to what happened here or else, well…" I walked towards Leonardo who started to whimper and crawl away slowly with a broken nose as I approached him. I proceeded to resummon Clarent into my hand before flipping him over with my boot and pointing it directly at his throat and man, Leon turned pale as all hell. I must have really terrified him.
Good.
"This blade is going to separate your head from your shoulders, so do me a favour and shut your mouth, got it?" I snarled as Leon could be seen nodding his head rapidly. The damn coward… You will die anyways, even if it's not by my hand, Salem will end you either way.
You pawn.
With that assurance, I proceeded to disappear from Leon's office with Mana Burst as I reappeared on a tree not too far away but hidden enough. Yet, I could only stare into the night skies as stars could be seen glistening in a sea of black. And despite the cold winds blowing against me, I don't feel much. I just feel tired after so much action and planning in just a day.
"I'm really no longer a human, huh? Such things as temperature don't really affect me." With that, I let out a sigh as I took off my mask. Am I really stuck here? Performing actions that I would never have thought that I would do? Threatening people with violence or spilling blood so that I could save this world? Or is this just me losing myself as time goes by? That Vampire better give me some answer or I'll make him!
Damn it. And this is only the second day of my existence in Remnant...
I then shook that doubt off my head. I've got a relic to secure and a bird to handle first. And with that, I jumped off the tree and made my way to the main hall. It's almost time anyways and hopefully, there's no one there or I have to knock them out. Can't risk them finding out.
Some time passed as I arrived at the main hall. Thankfully, it looks like no one came here at all. It's strange, though, why was it unguarded? It doesn't make any sense. Nevertheless, it's also midnight, Raven should be coming soon. She has to or else her tribe would pay the price.
I then stood in front of the statue of Jinn as I stared directly at her face as my armour appeared all over my body as well as the Helm of Hidden Infidelity. Clarent then also appeared in my hand as Leon's pocket watch in my free hand.
Funny… Why did they put Jinn so obviously for everyone to see? I guess it would remain hidden in plain sight, I suppose. Anyways, Raven finally made it when I heard the sound of wings flapping and the Spring Maiden's powers could be felt inside that bird.
When I finally turned around, Raven was there with her mask. How wonderful. She then pulled her otachi out before slicing the air as her semblance kicked in. Vernal then appears through the portal before it closes as I frown underneath my helm.
"I was wondering if you were going to show up. But since you're here. Let's not waste time, I prefer we do this quickly." I said as both Raven and Vernal walked up to me.
"I assume you got the key?" Raven then asked as I showed them the pocket watch before turning my head back to the statue and walked up to it. "The headmaster was kind enough to offer me his pocket watch. Though, I suppose it won't matter now since he's going to die."
"What do you mean by that?" Vernal then asked as Raven tilted her head with curiosity.
"Oh, I found a Grimm seer in his office cabinet. He's aligned to Salem and will die eventually since I wiped it out. Salem would come for him, but we are getting distracted. All that matters is his pocket watch." I nonchalantly said as I placed the pocket watch in a small niche on the statue.
The hands on the watch gradually spin faster and faster as the statue begins to lower into the ground and become a platform that would take me, Raven and her second down towards the vault.
"Come." I spoke out as I walked onto the platform, as Raven and Vernal followed behind me. As all three of us got into the platform, it then began lower down to take us directly into the vault which houses the Relic.
As the platform was taking us to the vault. I could tell that Raven was staring directly at me through her mask. She no doubt has questions on my allegiance since, no doubt, she can tell that I'm not with Salem or Ozpin.
I then turned my head to face Raven before addressing her. "Speak. You have questions, don't you?"
"Who are you? Really?" That one of all things? Well, I suppose my helm does a good job at hiding who I am. Perhaps I should play with her and foreshadow her death… If she's aware of it.
"Tch. That one? I'm just a person doing what needs to be done. And the relics are one of the items I needed. There's nothing else you need to know about me, since tonight would be the last time we would talk to each other."
Raven just grunted as I could finally see the vault in a massive cavern with a large tree that had glowing orange flowers. How pretty it is to see it first hand, and it feels more magical compared to the show itself. It wasn't long till the platform reached the bottom, and the gate protecting the vault was lowered into the ground.
"Let's just get this done with." I grunted out as I walked off the platform and towards the vault ahead of them both. As I walked towards the Relic chamber itself, I could feel the magic in the air itself…
I feel…
Reinvigorated.
As if I had caffeine and chocolate at the same time! I feel so energized and powerful!
It was then that a symbol that reminded me of the French royal Lily, I think. At the same time, the ground glows bright, as well as the circle enclosed around it. Similar circles with the same symbol in them also glow, leading up to the Relic chamber's door. I couldn't help myself but to watch as the flowers on the trees began to glow even more brightly compared to before, it's petals then began to fall around us and the vault itself.
Yet, a couple of them landed on me and began to dissolve instantly, much to my interest. Yet, I can sense that Raven and Vernal gave me curious looks as I watched as one landed on my hand. It's so pretty in its own way.
"Who knew a knight like you could be so entranced by that." Vernal snarked as my eye began to twitch in irritation before I proceeded to crush the poor petal in my hand. "Besides that, the one with the maiden powers. Step forward and place your hand on the door. Once that is done, it will open up. Once that is done, I'll take the relic, and we will fulfil our bargain, yes?" I gazed upon both of them.
"Yes." Vernal nodded as Raven, then rubbed it off.
"It doesn't matter to us. Let's get this over with."
"Good. Do what you need to do." I extended my hand out to the Vault as Vernal started to walk towards it. I watched as Vernal approached the vault, but then, a voice could be heard whispering into my ears. Funnily enough, I had guessed that Raven would try to pull it off like what she planned with Cinder.
She is going to attack you.
"Let me tell you this, Raven." I whispered out as I could tell that Raven herself paused from reaching Omen on her waist.
"The relics themselves act as beacons of sorts. Grimm would definitely be attracted to it like flies to a flame. If you intend to take it, you would doom your tribe." I then turned my eyes toward Raven, who just stared at me.
I then turned my eyes back on Vernal who had begun to touch the door itself and for a brief moment, the Spring Maiden's powers in Raven flared up, and the door began to open up.
"Wait, she could do that? That should not work, or is it that the Maidens' powers work like that? I have no idea..." I thought to myself as I began to walk forward as the voices in my head whisper again.
Conflict with them is very likely at this rate.
No, it's inevitable with what I'm going to do. Take the relic and use its magical powers to fuel me and crush both of them. Both of them will die here, they know too much. Though, I wasn't aware due to her bullshit stealth, there's someone else here as well. Watching and waiting.
I walked past Vernal who just glared at me as I entered the vault which is just desert as the eye could see with a path leading to the Relic of Knowledge, which rests on a stone pedestal. A teal-coloured lamp with gold all over it, and from where I am, I could feel all the magic inside it.
It's overwhelming!
As I approach it, I can't help but smile like a child, in front of me is one of the Relics of the Remnant! It looked almost exactly like how it did in the show except that… It's real. And I can sense something inside it.
It must be Jinn.
I could only touch it when it appeared that I was right. A surge of pure magic flowed into me as it caused me to collapse to my knees from the sudden input of magic. But soon, I got back to my feet and left the Vault with the relic in hand.
"I feel so weird, as if I'm spiritually full. Yet, I'm glad that it does not cause me to explode or something." I thought to myself both Raven and Vernal could be seen staring at the relic in hand.
"You have it now. Will you now leave my tribe alone?" Raven then asked first as I nodded in return.
"Yes. And that's one less loose end." And without giving them time to react, crimson energy appeared all over my body as I proceeded to plunge Clarent through Vernal's abdomen as it bypassed her aura completely. I suppose it was due to the amount of force I put into it, right before I punched Raven in the face with my other hand, which was still holding onto the Relic. The punch was so hard that it shattered her mask and sent her flying back quite the distance away.
"Unfortunately for you, you're a fool for thinking that I would allow you to walk out of here alive!" I scoffed loudly as Vernal could be seen shocked before she struggled to get Clarent out of her abdomen.
"Stop moving, or you'll die more painfully!" And I proceeded to kick Vernal out of my blade as she screamed in agony from the stab wound before turning my attention on Raven who had just got up.
"VERNAL!" She cried out with concern for a second before turning her eyes on me.
"Oh? you're still fine after that punch? And you're the true Spring Maiden I suppose huh?" I rhetorically asked.
"Vernal was never the Spring Maiden! I am!" Raven roared as she charged straight at me.
Fool.
I proceeded to raise Clarent into the air as the same crimson energy could be seen gathering around it before I let out a roar and slammed it onto the ground and sent a shock wave at her.
Raven eyes widened as she dodged the incoming wave as it slammed against the walls of the cavern before coming right at me with Omen drawn and aiming for my head. "You dare go against our bargain?!" Raven questioned as I could obviously see the tell-tale flames of a Maiden powers glowing around them as her eyes were one of rage. So rare to see her like this. It's actually kind of terrifying.
CLANG!
I immediately brought up Clarent to block Raven's strike. And I can tell that she's not holding back and going for the kill. "I agreed to not kill your tribe, that was our bargain. I never said anything about leaving you or your second alive!" I countered in response as I pushed her blade aside before slamming her in the chest with my shoulder.
I then charged full speed toward Raven as she recovers rather quickly just enough time to parry my strike.
CHING!
"You claimed you're the strongest of your tribe? What a bloody joke you are!" I laughed as I immediately pulled back and struck again with such force that it shattered Raven's blade.
SMASH!
Raven pulled out another blade as we continued to clash but each time, we did it, I could tell that she's barely keeping up with how fast I was attacking since now, I'm no longer holding back against her. Raven then jumped back before freezing my foot to the ground, at the same time, rather large icicles could be seen forming around her as she floated before sending them directly at me.
I could only dodge and parry many of those icicles, but one made it through my guard and knocked off one of my helmet's horns. "Damn!" I cried out as I slammed Clarent into the ground and sent a shock wave out, which destroyed the ice covering my foot and sent many of Raven's ice attacks all over the place. It also covered the cavern in dust, which I used to my advantage.
As Raven was recovering from my attacks, I appeared out of the dust and sent a kick directly into her abdomen and like before, she was sent flying but recovered rather quickly only to see me in front of her face and with Clarent already swinging at her.
CLANG!
Raven ended up parrying that attack, only for her blade to shatter again under such strain of my attacks.
Our fight went on for a couple of minutes or so, as the cavern was filled with only the echoes of blades clashing and shattering. With the occasional sound of Raven getting her ass kicked. It was during that time that I felt that I wasn't in control, as my own body acted independently of how I wanted it to go. It felt as if I was just in the back seat as the fight continued on.
What the hell?
And it was at this point that Raven was getting exhausted from the constant attacks as I jeered at her.
"You're a bloody idiot if you think that you could beat me!" I proceeded to dodge Raven's slice before headbutting her a distance away.
"Claiming that the strong rule the weak, yet, you attack the weak like a bunch of vultures and parasites. What a horrible joke you are."
"For a knight, you have a habit of using unfair tactics..." Raven growled back as he used Omen to assist her back onto her feet. Her body shows signs of sliced wounds as well as parts of her body were bruised badly as if she got hit by a truck going at max speed and is the size of a fist. I doubt she can keep going for very long.
"Silence! I'll grind you to dust either way!" I countered as I pointed Clarent at Raven's head. However, what she did next caught me off guard as well as sent alarms into my head. She then proceeded to slice the air behind her as a very familiar portal appeared in its place.
"Shit! She's trying to escape again!" I thought to myself as I dashed in using my mana burst and grabbed her by the throat. Raven then tried to strike me only for me to disarm her with no issue.
"You're not even a good fighter!" I called out and tossed her aside before rushing up to her and kicking her in the face. Raven went flying as she lost grip on her own sword which flew a distance away from her. She then came to a stop as she could be heard coughing and wheezing out loud as she struggled to get herself back on her feet.
"You ran from your family! Your duty as a huntress! Your goddamn daughter! When she needed you most! And yet, you left them all behind just for what?! Just so that you could hurt others?! You're an utter disgrace of a mother, you are!" I rant at Raven before appearing in front of her and stomped her down with my foot, before raising Clarent over my head.
"You…" I growled as my helmet came down, all while Raven's eyes widened in shock and genuine fear as she finally recognized me. "Will die today you bloody coward!" I roared as I swung Clarent down upon her, as Raven closed her eyes in terror.
Behind you.
I immediately rolled to the side away from Raven as I saw a massive sword swung by where I was originally when I was about to execute Raven. At the same time, my helm quickly reformed around my head to hide my identity as I rolled back to my feet. How did someone get here, but that sword?
No, it can't be.
Well, I couldn't voice my thoughts on our newest guest that decided to join us as Raven answered for me.
"Qrow?" Raven then asked with genuine surprise in her tone.
"Hey Rae. Looks like you've got yourself in quite the pickle. Heh, first time for everything." The man joked as he took a sip from his canteen. He has greying black, spiky hair, faded red eyes, and slight stubble along his jawline. Along with a red, tattered cloak, he wears a grey dress shirt with a long tail, black dress pants and black dress shoes. And that man is Qrow Branwen, twin brother of Raven. And in his hand is Harbinger.
My mind was kicked into a frenzy trying to figure out how he had got here, and only one thing came to my mind.
Raven's portal from earlier...
Did Qrow get curious as to why his sister did not come out to see him when she created that portal? Shit, his interruption wasn't part of the plan! And he would no doubt disrupt my attempts to secure the Maiden's power for myself. How did I not see that coming?!
"So, you're her brother?" I then asked as I walked towards him with the Relic still in my hand.
"The one and only one. And I must say, damn," Qrow then looked at his battered sister who was still struggling to get back on her footing. "You've done one hell of a beating on her. Not many could do the same." Qrow continued as Raven could be seen glaring at her brother.
"Qrow, not now! That person has the relic!" Raven then weakly pointed at the teal lantern in my hand, as Qrow's eyes widened as he stared at the Relic of Knowledge in my hand.
"That's the Relic of Knowledge!? How did he-"
"It's a she." Raven interrupted her brother. She knows that her identity of her being the Spring Maiden would be revealed but, at this point. Saber as she remembered at how that girl introduced herself, is more than she or her brother could take on. And those eyes…
Those murderous eyes filled with rage...
To think someone so young could bear those eyes, and that warning that Vernal gave yesterday made so much sense now, And the magic. She can feel its overwhelming presence pouring out of her every attack. Even her sword has magic inside of it.
This 'Saber'.
She's not human. No one could possess that much magic.
And that relic in her hand. It's probably boosting her strength even more! They have to retreat! It's basically suicide to fight against her now!
"And we have to leave. Now! We can't win this fight!" Raven, for the first time in a long while, allowed herself to look weak in front of her brother to drive in the point. That girl is too dangerous for both of them.
The masked knight who called herself Saber spoke as even more crimson electricity could be seen erupting from her body "She's right you know, but I won't let her leave alive here. She has something I want. You, on the other hand, may leave. I have no qualms with you."
Qrow could immediately tell that the person in front of him was bad news as he stepped forward and blocked the knight's path towards his sister. "Sis, you've got a whole lot to explain after this." And with that, he drew Harbinger out and got into a combat stance. The knight however didn't seem to care about that as she continued to walk forward with her sword on her shoulder.
"You're aware that your sister is the Spring Maiden, right? And that she helped me get this?" The knight lifted her hand up and shook the relic in her hand. Qrow's eyes widened dramatically as he glanced at his twin sister.
"Raven. You're the Spring maiden?"
Raven's guilt on her face told Qrow everything he needed to know. His sister was the Spring Maiden. "Dammit Rae! You got a lot to explaining to do! I'll hold her off until you can get us out of here!" Qrow yelled out as Saber can't help but laugh out.
"You? Stop me? Don't make me laugh, I'd like to see you try." She spoke in an arrogant tone as she pointed her sword at him. Crimson energy could be seen before she dashed in close and swung towards Qrow who blocked it head on. That turns out to be a bad mistake on his part, as the force from the sword forced him to his knees as the ground beneath him cracked from the sheer force transferred to him. Raven could be seen a distance away limping off to grab Omen.
"Get out of my way!" she roared as she pulled her blade back before kicking Qrow to the side as she dashed straight for Raven. Raven on the other hand saw her coming straight for her and used her Maiden powers to freeze her solid. Though that only gave her the respite of a couple of seconds as Saber immediately broke out of her ice shell and resumed chasing her.
Qrow then sends an aura arc from behind as Saber countered it by spinning around and slicing it into two before it hits her. "Nice try!" She mocked Qrow. He then changed Harbinger into a war scythe before dashing in close and clashing against Saber. Both of them began to exchange blows at each other. Both Qrow and Saber could be heard grunting as they blocked, parried, deflected or dodged each other.
They occasionally do chip damage to each other as parts of Saber's armour fell off and crumbled as Qrow suffered small slashes on his body.
Clang! Bzzt! Bang! Shank! Chung! Tink! Clank! Slink! Tung! Bzzt! Bang! Clang!
It was then that Qrow managed to disarm Saber of her sword, only to immediately get punched in the face as he flew backwards and towards Raven who, at this point, had managed to get Omen back into her hand.
"Ow… sheesh, that hurts" Qrow moaned as he quickly got to his feet, as Raven then created the portal with what's left of her aura. Saber noticed it as she was preparing to intercept their escape, only for her to turn around and block a shot that came from behind. As it turns out, Vernal was still barely alive and fired a single shot in an attempt to allow her boss to escape.
"I should have gone for your head," She growled. "But she will still die!" Saber let out an inhuman howl as crimson energy could be seen on her sword before she threw it directly at Raven at such speeds that no one had time to react.
SQUELCH!
Saber's sword found her mark as it pierced through Raven's torso and made a sickening squelch, with at least half of the blade sticking out of her body. Qrow let out a horrified gasp as gushes of blood could be seen pouring out of Raven's wound, as she began to cough out blood.
"Shit! RAVEN!" He cried out in genuine anguish as he picked her up and ran through the portal with the sword still stuck in her, just as it just closed as soon as he entered it, leaving Saber all alone alongside a dead Vernal who bled out.
"Saber's helmet came down as she could only mutter with a panicked look on her face.
"Uh oh…"
Aaannnd cut! Author's notes time!
First of all, what do you think of this chapter? And how do you think it could be done better? Also, we've crossed the goal of 500 Followers! Nice! And at least 400 Favourites. Eh I suppose that will do it for now.
Anyways, lost belt 6 part 3. Man, that was one hell of a roller coaster! Did it deserve to burn and collapse? Perhaps but fuck the fae! Those assholes! Besides that, I got lazy again thanks to some stuff in my corner and also a minor case of burnout.
So, yea, Now Qrow is aware of Mordred's existence and Raven is in a critical state with Clarent embedded in her back. Oh boy, the potential conflicts that will occur in the future would be interesting to write down!
Lastly, I've got a question for ya, out of all the characters in RWBY, which person would be a suitable master for Mordred? Not to add it in, but as a curiosity of mine.
And I'm done talking and I'm just gonna go play Humankind. If you like this new story of mine. Feel free to Follow and Favourite me to keep in touch with this story and leave a review of what you think about it so far. I love reading your comments!
RGQC out!
