The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 10
Shane had been surprised to hear that he had visitors so he followed the guards down the long corridors that finally led him to an interrogation room and once he was led inside and cuffed to the table his guests stepped into the room. He said, "welllll if it isn't the G-men, to what do I owe this visit gentlemen?", Reid said, "we need your help Shane", he laughed and said, "that's rich, you need my help, why do you need my help when you have the black queen, my black queen".
Dave said, "son, we have something to tell you", Shane said, "first, I'm not your son, second, I don't want to help you with anything", Reid said, "please just listen to us before you turn us down, this case is very important to us". He was curious so he said, "what kind of case do you supposedly need my help with?", Reid looked at Dave and then back as Shane as he said, "a murder case", he said, "murder cases is what you do so what's so special about this one?", Reid said, "the victim".
Shane sat back in his seat and said, "what's so special about this victim?", Reid said, "we know her", Shane turned his head to the side as Dave said, "and so do you", Shane said, "I know her, who is the victim?", Reid said, "it's Penelope". Shane said, "wait, you said that this is a murder case, who, who killed my queen?", Dave said, "well Derek is being accused of it but he's innocent, he would never hurt her because" and before Dave could finish Shane said, "because he's in love with her".
Reid said, "you knew?", Shane smirked and then laughed and said, "yeah I knew, it was soooooo obvious, I could tell by the way they looked at each other, the way he was so protective of her that he was head over heels in love with her". Dave said, "so will you help us?", Shane said, "what's in it for me?", Reid said, "well other than helping us prove Derek innocent and getting revenge for Garcia what else do you need?", he smiled and said, "can you talk to the judge for me and try to get my sentence reduced?", Dave and Reid looked at each other and then back at Shane".
Dave said, "if you can help us do what we need to do then yes, yes we will talk to the judge on your behalf", Shane said, "so am I suppose to help you from here, orrrrr?", Reid said, "no, you are to be released into our custody but there are conditions". Shane nodded his head and said, "of course there are and I'm sure that I know what they are", Reid and Dave looked at him as he said, "I am under no circumstances to be left alone, I am to be watched at all times".
Reid said, "you're correct", Shane said, "I'm curious about one thing", Dave said, "and that one thing is?", Shane said, "why me, why did you come to me?", Reid said, "because we know that you care about Garcia as much as we do and that you would want her murderer put in prison where he or she belongs", Shane nodded his head in agreement and said, "that I do junior G-man, that I do".
Dave said, "so will you help us?", Shane blew out a deep breath and said, "yes, I'll help you, I just hope that when I do this that you will keep your word and talk to the judge for me", Reid said, "if you keep your end of the deal, so will we". Shane held out his hand and said, "well in that case gentlemen you have yourself a deal", Dave and Shane shook hands and he said, "alright, let's get you out of here and get back to the BAU".
Reid called for the guards and handed them a piece of paper, after getting it signed by the warden Shane was released into the custody of Dave and Reid, as he stepped out into the sunlight he weakly smiled and said, "it's good to be outside again, not under these circumstances but good to be outside none the less", Reid and Dave walked the cuffed man to their car where he climbed into the backseat and started looking out the window as Reid slid in beside him.
As they pulled away from the prison he knew what he had to do, he had to help them prove Derek innocent of killing the woman that they both loved and he had to get revenge for his black queen and so he would, and so he would.
