The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 21
The next morning Derek woke up to the sound of the guard screaming that it was time to shower, he reluctantly stood up and waited at the door for the guard to come and get him to take him and the rest of his block to shower. He had to admit that the thought of a shower did sound good, it's just too bad that he has to shower with 11 other men but a shower was a shower so he'd take what he could get.
When they were led to the showers the guard said, "you'll have 10 minutes so I suggest that you don't waste any time", the inmates stripped out of their clothes and started showering since they only had 10 minutes, they all knew that they would have to hurry or lose the chance until the next shower day.
Derek stood under the hot water and to say that it felt good to his aching muscles would be an understatement, the water felt great but he knew that he was running out of time so he finished showering, dried off and got dressed. When he was getting ready to head out of the shower he looked up to see several familiar faces, it was then that he knew that he was in trouble, he knew he was about to be in a fight for his life.
The men surrounded him and one of them said, "do you remember me Morgan, you put me in here?", Derek said, "sorry, you look familiar but I don't know your name, so please don't think you're special because I've put a lot of people away". The men got closer and closer, everything in Derek was telling him to fight but then flashes of the night he supposedly killed Penelope filled his mind and he couldn't move, he just froze.
At the Hotcnher residence Hotch slipped quietly into the living room, after hearing from Emily that he'd had a rough night he wanted to be there for his son, he eased his way upstairs and heard Jack sniffing through the door so he raised his hand and knocked on the door and said, "Jack it's me, it's daddy can I come in?", Jack ran to the door and pulled it open and jumped into his daddy's arms and siad, "she's gone daddy, aunt P's really gone". Hotch held his son and said, "I know buddy, I know and I'm so sorry", Jack wiped his little eyes and said, "nana Fran said that Aunt P was going to be our guardian angel now, do you really think that daddy?", Hotch ruffled his little boys hair and said, "I do buddy, I really really do", Jack wrapped his arms around his daddy's neck and said, "I love you daddy", he said, "and I love you" as he stood there holding his crying son.
As the men started hitting him he didn't do anything, he didn't raise his arms to protect himself or he didn't throw any punches, his heart was broken, his baby girl was gone, what did he have left to live for, nothing, absolutely nothing. Derek was on his knees, the leader of the little gang pulled something out from behind his back and said, "now Morgan, now you die" and he stuck Derek several times in the chest and stomach.
Derek fell the rest of the way to the ground and laid there gasping for air, was this what his baby girl felt as she was taking her last breaths, was this what she went through as she died, was this it for him, would he soon be seeing his baby girl?, a smile graced his lips at the thought of seeing her again.
His eyes started getting heavy, he looked down and saw that his jail house clothing was covered in blood, he was losing blood to fast, this was it, he was dying, he would never see his mother or sisters again, he'd never see pretty boy or any of the others. As his eyes started to close he said, "I never got to tell them good good goodbye".
Reid waked through the front door and saw Henry walking down the stairs, he looked up and saw his daddy and ran down the stairs and jumped into his arms, Reid said, "how are you doing little man?", Henry looked at his daddy with red, tear filled eyes and said, "daddy I dweamed about aunt P wast night", Reid said, "you did?", he nodded his head and said, "I did, she was an angel and she was fwying around daddy, she had beawutiful wings and she was fwying around". Reid couldn't help but smile at his 5 year old son, he said, "what else was she doing?", Henry grinned at him and said, "she was tectin us daddy, she was tectin me and Jack wike a fairy Godmother does", Reid laughed and said, "so you know that she'll be protecting you and Jack all the time now, right?", the little boy nodded his head and said, "uh huh but I still wish she was hewe", Reid hugged his son and said, "me too Henry, me too".
The guard walked into the showers to make sure that all of the inmates had showered and left, he ran over to Derek when he saw him laying on the floor covered in bright red blood, he then started blowing the whistle that was around his neck. In seconds several guards ran into the bathroom, one of them said, "call an ambulance, call one nowwwwww", the guard nodded his head yes and ran out toward the guards station.
A few minutes later Derek was being strapped down and cuffed to a gurney, as his eyes closed he said, "I love you baby girl, I love you so muchhhhhhh" and then he lost consciousness, the medics said, "we've got to get out of here, he's lost too much blood". As they wheeled him by the guards one of them said, "you need to notify his attorney, let her know that he's been seriously injured and heading to Mercy General".
The guard said, "on it" as he ran and pulled up Derek's information on the computer, listed was his attorneys so he picked up the phone and dialed the first number on the list and waited for somebody to answer. After a couple of rings they heard. "Hotchner". The guard said, "is this Aaron Hotchner?", Hotch said, "it is, who's this?", the guard said, "my name is Hector Sanchez, I'm one of the guards at county lockup".
Hotch said, "how can I help you?", Hector said, "I was calling to notify you that your client Derek Morgan was stabbed several times in the stomach and chest while he was in the shower earlier, he is loaded and in route to Mercy General". Hotch said, "thank you, I'm on my way", after the call ended he sent a quick text to the team to let them know what was going on, he then called Mia and said, "Mia meet me at Mercy General ASAP, Derek's been stabbed and from what the guard told me it's bad, really bad".
As he ran for his car he said, "what else is gonna happen?", he blew out a deep breath and said, "we can't catch a break, first Garcia gets killed and Derek arrested for her murder and now Derek gets stabbed in the shower at the jailhouse". He climbed behind the wheel of his car, started it and put it in drive before pushing the gas pedal to the floor, he had to get to Derek, he couldn't lose anybody else, he just couldn't, not now".
