The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 22

By the time Hotch and Mia made it to the hospital Derek had already been taken into surgery, the only thing that the nurses could tell him was that he was stabbed really close to his heart and that surgery would take several hours. Before Hotch walked over to sit with Mia the nurse said, "when we find out anything I'll keep you updated", he smiled and said, "thank you, I appreciate that", he then walked over and sat down beside Mia.

Dave and Fran were the next to arrive, Fran was beside herself with worry, she said, "what happened, wasn't he being watched, where were the guards?", Hotch helped her sit down in a seat and said, "I don't know anything other than he got stabbed several times and was brought here".

Dave said, "first kitten gets killed and Derek arrested and now Derek's in there fighting for his life, how much more can this family take, we can't lose anybody else", Fran reached out and took his hand and gently squeezed it and said, "he's going to be fine, he's going to be fine", Dave nodded his head and said, "I know, I know, it's just", Mia said, "you're worried, of course you are he's your son and you love him, you all love him".

Hotch blew out a deep breath and siad, "he's in surgery right now, they said that it will take several hours", Fran said, "what aren't you telling me Aaron?", he said, "the nurse told me right before you and Dave got here that one of the stab wounds was really close to his heart", she shook her head and said, "my poor baby boy, my poor innocent baby boy, who and why is what I'd like to know".

Mia stood up and pulled her cell phone out and said, "I'd like to know the answers to those questions myself Fran, excuse me for a few minutes and I'll try and find out something", Fran smiled and nodded her head as Mia walked away. Hotch looked at Fran and said, "Derek is innocent and we will prove it", Dave said, "of course we will, we're gonng get him out of there and put the people that killed kitten and framed him in there in his place".

Mia walked back over a few minutes later and Hotch said, "what did you find out?", she said, "I found out that one of the guards was paid off so that he would leave the shower room guard less for a few minutes, that's when several men that Derek helped put in there went in the showers, beat him and stabbed him several times in the stomach and chest".

Fran covered her mouth with her hand and said, "so he never stood a chance?", Mia said, "from what I was told, the men that did this to him, left him for dead so no, no he didn't stand a chance, he was suppose to have died in that shower". Fran felt tears stinging her eyes for what felt like the millionth time today, she had cried so much that she didn't think she could cry anymore but, this, what happened to her son proved to her that she could.

After what felt like forever a nurse walked over and said, "Mr. Morgan is out of surgery, he held his own but the next 48 to 72 hours are going to be critical for him", Mia said, "when can we see him?", the nurse said, "he'll be in recovery for a couple of hours so that they can monitor him before he's moved to CCU".

Dave said, "we'll be here, if you don't care will you let us know when we can see him?", she smiled and said, "sure thing", Hotch sighed and said, "thank you", he then pulled his cell out of his pocket and sent a text to JJ, Reid and Emily letting them know that he was holding his own in recovery right now and that it would be several hours before they would be able to see him, Emily told him that she finally had Jack tucked in and he'd just fallen asleep.

Hotch sent Emily another message saying, "I love you, I don't know what time I'll be home, get some rest if you can", to which she replied, "I love you too, be safe and tell Derek that we love him", He sent one final message and said, "will do Em, will do" before sitting back in the chair to wait with the others to get to see Derek
