The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 23
Dave was sitting deep in thought,it was like the world was closing in on him, he needed to get outside, he needed some air, he stood up and said, "I'll be back in a few minutes", Fran looked up and said, "do you want me to come with you?", he said, "no, no, stay here and wait on news about Derek, I won't be out long".
Fran said, "okay honey", before he walked off she said, "if I hear anything I'll let you know", he said, "thank you", she said, "I love you Dave", he said, "I love you too Bella, I love you too". She then sat there with Hotch and Mia as they watched Dave walk across the room and through a set of double doors and disappear out of sight, she knew that he needed some time alone and she would give him that time.
As he headed down a corridor he looked up to see a sign that said, "chapel", he weakly smiled, yes, that was where he needed to go, he needed to go to the chapel to be alone with his thoughts. a couple of doors down he found the chapel, he opened the door, walked in and headed up to the front.
Dave sat down on a bench, he looked around to see that he was alone, he blew out a deep breath and said, "why us, why do this to us, why take my daughter, why kitten, why take her, she had so much to live for". Tears were now streaming down his face, he said, "she was such an amazing person, she was so sweet, kind, loving and had the biggest heart of anybody I've ever met in my life so why her, why her".
He closed his eyes and memories of the first time he met Penelope filled his mind, he couldn't help but chuckle a little because the first time he met her he didn't know what to think of her, she seemed so odd, so out of place at the BAU. Dave shook his head and said, "ohhh how wrong I was kitten, you are without a doubt the best analyst and person I have ever met in my life and it's not going to be the same without you".
He sat there balling his hands into fists, he said, "kitten, I promise you that we will find out who did this and I will make them pay myself no matter what I have to do, I will get revenge for you, I swear it".
As Dave sat there crying he couldn't stop, no matter what he did he couldn't stop crying, he'd lost his daughter and his son was inside fighting for his life and why, why, her, why him, nothing makes sense anymore. Dave had always been the strong one, he had to be for Fran, Desi, Sarah, JJ and Em, now that kitten was gone he'll have to be stronger for everybody else and for Penelope's sake he will, he'll be their superman, he'll take care of them the way Penelope always had before.
He sighed and thought to himself, "we've had good times, sad times and our share of bad times together but Penelope was one of the people that was always there with a smile, a hug or both, she was there to give you whatever you needed. Dave raised his head to look at the stained glass in the chapel, he wiped away the tears and said, "you would like it here kitten, it's so calm, so peaceful, it's a place where you can really think".
Before standing up to head back out to the others he said, "I'm not usually a crier Penelope but, but losing you has killed me to the heart, it's gutted me, why you, why use you to get revenge on Derek, I mean I get it, he loves you and you love him but still why did they have to do this to you?", tears streamed down his cheeks, he wiped them off and stood up, turned around and headed toward the door.
He stopped at the chapel doors and said, "we love you kitten, we'll always love you and we will catch the people that did this to you, I promise but if you can hear me please be with Derek, especially now, he's so broken without you". He cleared his throat stepped out into the hallway and headed back to the others
