The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 27
At the BAU Reid was reading a file and Shane was doing a deep dive for information on Robert and Robin Blakley, he wanted to see if they had any other family not listed on their arrest records and when he came up on the information he smiled. Reid walked over to get another file and saw the smile on Shane's face and said, "I know that smile, you found something didn't you?", Shane said, "I did, they should know that they can only hide so long from me and then bam I'm gonna find ya".
Reid said, "what did you find?", Shane looked up at him and said, "they have a cousin named Charles Blake and it just so happens that he was on the visitors logs to visit both of them a couple of days before they escaped". Reid said, "well that can't be a coincidence", Shane shook his head and said, "and I also found out that Charles has a house on some land about 45 minutes out of town, I mean it's up in the mountains so I can't help but wonder if the twins found their way there".
JJ and Em walked into the room and JJ said, "ohhhh it looks like something good is happening here", Reid said, "do you remember Robert and Robin Blakley?", both women nodded their heads yes. Shane finished by saying. "they have a cousin named Charles Blake and he owns land about 45 minutes out of town", Emily said, "well now, wouldn't that be a good place for the twins to hide, they would be up in the mountains and could hide practically anywhere".
Shane said, "that's what we were thinking too", Reid said, "let's notify Hotch and let him know what's going on and see what he wants us to do next", everybody nods their heads yes in agreement and watch as Reid pulls his cell off of his belt to make the call. At the hospital Hotch and Dave are talking about the trial when his cell starts ringing, he pulls it from his pocket and says, "it's Reid" and hits talk and speaker so that Dave and Mia can hear Reid.
Hotch said, "did you guys find something?", Shane said, "we did", Reid then filled them in on the cousin that lived in the mountains and Hotch said, "that would be a good place for them to hide now wouldn't it?", Reid said, "yes, yes it would". Mia said, "I'll hand over that tidbit of information to the officers at the station, who knows that might help them actually do their jobs and actually look for Penelope's killer instead of blaming himself"
Reid said, "speaking of Derek , how is he?", Dave said, "not good son, he woke up and got so upset that he had to be sedated, so he's going to be out for a few hours", Reid said, "I can tell by your voice that something else is wrong, what is it?", Dave and Hotch looked at each other before Dave said, "Derek didn't fight the men that attacked him, he told us that without Penelope he had no life".
JJ said, "HE WHAT?", Dave said, "that's what he told us, that's also when he got so upset that he had to be sedated, he's still so broken over kitten", JJ said, "we all are Dave, we all are", Dave said, "he doesn't want to live without her, he'd rather die than try to face a life without her", Emily said, "what can we do to help him?", Hotch said, "right now, there isn't anything that we can do, he's got to want to live and until that happens we're helpless"
Fran looked down at her son and said, "we'll talk again when you wake up, I know what you're going through baby, I felt the same way when your father died but I had you three kids to keep me going". She sighed and said, "we'll give you a reason to live, you have to live to be able to get revenge for Penelope, what would she say Derek if she heard what you'd said earlier, she would kick your butt and you know it".
She sighed and shook her head and said, "we will revisit this later son, count on it", she then took his free hand in hers and said, "count on it" as tears threatened to fall again.
