The State Verses Derek Morgan-Ch 33
Reid glanced down at his watch and saw that it was almost time for them to head over to the funeral home but he saw his son crying and walked over and sat down beside him on the couch, he wrapped his arm around the crying boy and said, "what's wrong buddy?", Henry looked up at him and said, "I miss aunt P daddy", Reid said, "I know you do, I know you do" as he picked the little boy up and sat him over into his lap.
Henry said, "daddy can you ask hewe to tome back to us?, Reid said, "she can't come back little man, she's in heaven, she's an angel now, remember?", Henry wiped his eyes and said, "but I want hew hewe daddy, hewe wif me". Reid kissed the top of his sons head and said, "me too Henry, me too", Henry cried in his father's arms for several minutes before he started calming down a little, JJ came downstairs and saw the father/son sitting together crying.
Her heart was breaking as she took the few steps over to the couch, she sat down beside them and wrapped her arm around Reid and kissed the top of her sons head and said, "it's okay buddy, it's okay". Henry turned around and looked at his mother and said ,"mommy tan you ask hew to tome back, pwease?", JJ said, "buddy I would if I could but she can't come back now", Henry shook his head and said, "pwease momma, pweaseee".
JJ said, "how about we do this, how about we remember aunt P smiling and laughing like she was at your last birthday party", Henry looked at her and wiped his eyes, his last birthday party was his favorite because of his aunt P. Reid couldn't help but smile as memories of the party came to his mind again, she'd dressed up like Dr. Who and Henry absolutely loved it.
Henry snufffed and said, "momma?", JJ said, "yes sweetheart?", Henry said, "I lub her sooooo much", JJ said, "I know you do, we all do and you know what?", Henry said, "what momma?", JJ said, "she loved us just as much as we loved her". Henry's eyes widened and he said, "weally?", JJ tapped the end of his little nose and said, "yes really so from now on when we think of aunt P why don't we all try to smile because she'd like that".
Reid said, "mommy's right, let's remember her smiling and smile back at her", Henry smiled and nodded his little head and said, "dat por you aunt P", JJ looked at Reid and then back at her son for a few seconds. The nanny walked into the room and said, "breakfast is ready Henry", he jumped down from his daddy's lap, hugged and kissed both JJ and Reid and sad, "lub you" before following his nanny through the house for breakfast.
JJ wiped her eyes and said, "Spence I don't know if I can do this", he intertwined fingers with her and said, "we have to Jayje because she would want us too", after a couple of seconds she realized her husband was right and nodded her head yes. He then stood up and held out his hand to her, she put her hand in his and allowed him to help her up, they made their way hand in hand across the living room and out the front door.
As the car pulled away from the house they knew that today was going to be difficult but together they could make it and together they would make it.
