After spending an hour of dressing shopping for tonight's Founders party, Caroline spent few more hours curling up in bed with Stefan. Caroline arrived To the boarding house wanting to confront Damon about last night, and to warn him that if he kills another innocent tonight, Caroline would drive a stake through his heart herself. But according to Stefan, Damon hasn't been home in the last two hours.
" Did you know that Elena invited Damon, instead of Matt?" Caroline asked breaking the silence.
" Yeah, he told me this morning. Are you gonna be okay with that?" Stefan asked as he ran his fingers through her hair. When Damon mentioned that he was going to go to the Lockwoods tonight, Stefan made Damon promise he will behave tonight. But just in case he doesn't, Stefan has a back up.
" After learning about the two victims from last night, this morning, and my mom claiming it to be another animal attack. No I am definitely not going to be okay with this. Something horrible is going to happen and someone might end up dead again, and if that happens. I am not going to have a choice to-." But Caroline was suddenly cut off when Stefan silent her with his mouth. Caroline moans softly against his lips as they kissed each other deeply and passionately.
Caroline slowly pulls back as she raised her brow for a moment." What was that?"
" You're not going to stake Damon."
" Why?"
" Because I got a back up." Stefan answered as he got out of bed and put his shirt back on.
" What kind of back up? Where are you going?" Caroline asked as she jumped out of his bed.
" Come with me, I wanna show you something." Stefan said as he grabbed Caroline's hand and walked out of his room with her. Walking downstairs towards the back of the boarding house. Stefan pushed the door open and showed Caroline." This is my back up."
" What is it?" Caroline asked as she stepped closer and ran her fingertips against the plant that looked like lavender flowers.
" It's vervain."
" Vervain?" Caroline asked as she looks at him confused.
" It's like an herb for humans, but it's lethal for vampires. Humans uses vervain to protect themselves from vampires and keep the vampires from compelling them, and getting into their heads."
" What happens when a vampire touches it?"
" It would weaken them, but unfortunately not for long though."
" So, you're planning on weakening Damon, and then what?"
" Lock him up in the basement and have him starve until disaffection."
" For how long?" Caroline may have lot of questions but she can't help herself.
" Hopefully for the next fifty years or maybe longer. But at least everyone of this town would be safe from Damon." Stefan knows the risk he's going through tonight, but if Damon does go back on his promise and hurts another innocent, Stefan won't have a choice to bring him down.
" Wow, there's so much to learn." Caroline had just recently learned about vampires and now she's learning about vervain and what it could do to vampires. Caroline hates keeping this kind of information to herself, but it's the only way to keep the people she cares about safe.
" Are you gonna be okay with this?"
" Yeah, look I know Damon is your brother, but after last night we gotta do what we need to do to keep everyone in this town safe, and if that means to take Damon down, yeah I am gonna be okay with this." Caroline refuses to let Damon to hurt or kill another innocent again, and she definitely refuses to let her mom believe that it was another animal attack.
Stefan wrapped his arm around her waist and pulls her closer to him as he kisses her forehead." I know I've been asking you a lot by keeping my secret, but of course it's Damon's secret as well." Stefan said as he pulled Caroline inside and closed the door behind them.
Caroline shook her head." Stefan, as much as I hate keeping this secret to myself especially from my two best friends. It's the only way to keep them and everyone else safe." Caroline knows that Elena is probably going to hate her, but it's the risk she's going have to take.
" Damon's home." Stefan said as he could hear Damon pouring himself a glass of his favorite drink Bourbon.
" You know what, I was gonna confront Damon about last night, but I need to get ready for tonight." Caroline said as she sighs softly. Caroline wanted to so go off on Damon, but now that might have to wait until tonight.
" Come on." Stefan said as they walked further back into the boarding house, towards the main room.
" Ahh, were did you two love birds been hiding?" Damon asked with a smirk as he took another drink of his bourbon.
" That's really none of your business, now is it?" Caroline asked with a fake smile and crossed her arms over her chest.
" Where have you been the past few hours?" Stefan asked before Damon had a chance to say something stupid.
" Oh you know, had a lunch at the grill. Hooked up with a couple of waitresses." Damon responded with a shrug and a smirk.
" Eww, I really didn't need to know that." Caroline said as she flinch a little. She then turned her attention to Stefan." I should get going. Still picking me up?" Caroline asked as she put her jacket on.
" Yeah, I will be there around seven." Stefan said as he leans down and gave Caroline a quick kiss.
" Awe, how cute. you two should get married." Damon said mockly.
" Oh shut up Damon." Caroline said as she gave Stefan another quick kiss." I will see you tonight." Caroline said as she walked out of the front door of the boarding house, closing the door behind her.
" She doesn't like me too much, does she?"
" You haven't really give her a reason not too. That reminds me, you're going to be on your best behavior tonight, remember you promised?"
Damon sighs as he rolled eyes." Yes, Stefan, I promise to be on my very best behavior and not to kill any innocents tonight at the party. I won't even feed on them." It's taking everything in Damon not to go back on his promise and just sink his teeth into the next available vein.
" I am serious Damon, no more killing innocent people. We can't have another animal attack in this town." Stefan said as he crossed his arms over his chest.
" I hear you, Stefan and as I promise, nothing is going to happen tonight." Damon said as he poured himself another glass of Bourbon.
" Good, now if you don't mind, I got a date to get ready for and I suggest you do the same." Stefan said as he walked away from Damon and headed towards back upstairs where he found Zack standing at the top.
" Do you really believe Damon is going to behave tonight?"
"No, but that's why I am thinking of spiking someone's drink tonight with vervain. I thought about spiking the Bourbon but Damon is gonna know right away, so I am gonna spikes someone else's, and that would weaken him". Stefan isn't sure what's going to happen or how this is going to play out, but it's the only way to stop Damon and save the town.
Tonight's Founder's party at the Lockwoods was good so far, and Damon is actually on his best behavior, and Caroline is finding it weird, considering she knows Damon will snap soon. For only knowing Damon for a few months, Caroline has never known him to be on his best behavior.
" Are you going to keep watching them all night ?" Stefan asked as he walked behind Caroline and wrapped his arms around her waist.
Caroline sighs as she drops her shoulders and leans back against his chest." Tell me, again why are we actually trusting him?" Caroline asked as she couldn't stop watching Damon and Elena dancing together.
" Because, if we don't start trusting him now, another innocent will die tonight."
" I am gonna go talk to Elena, I was kinda hard on her today at the mall." Caroline said as she walked away from Stefan and walked over to Elena. She thought of doing this on Monday morning, but she didn't want to wait for two days to apologize to her best friend.
" I hate to interrupt, but I kinda need to borrow my best friend." Caroline said as she grabbed Elena by the arm and pulls her away from Damon. After dragging Elena to another room and sat her down, Caroline took a deep breath as she started to speak.
" I want to apologize for today. I shouldn't have bitten your head off, and I shouldn't have judged you either. I mean I'm dating Stefan, so if you want to date Damon. Then that's your choice, I am not going to judge." Caroline said with a small chuckle.
" Caroline, you're one of my best friends and I know you're just looking out for me, and I do accept your apology. But I am not going out with Damon." Elena said as she shook her head.
" I don't understand, if your not dating him, then why is he here with you tonight?" Caroline asked confused.
" Because after you warned me about Damon last night, I decided that if Damon was dangerous like you said, I wanted to see it for myself, and as far I can tell. Damon doesn't seem to be dangerous... so maybe you can back off and cut Damon some slack?" Elena asked.
Caroline sighs as she nods her head." Yeah, I guess I can." Caroline desperately wants to Elena, that Damon is a vampire and that he's been behind all the animal attacks. But instead, Caroline kept her mouth shut and promised Elena to give him a chance.
" Ahh, Elena there you are." Carol Lockwood said as she found Elena talking with Caroline.
" Oh hey, Mrs. Lockwood." Elena said with a friendly and nervous smile.
" I still can't find the pocket watch, didn't you put in the box, that I asked for?" Carol asked.
" Um, yeah I know, I remember you asked for it. But I still couldn't find it anywhere in my dad's stuff." Elena said as she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head.
" Well, just keep looking and make sure you bring it, it's important that you do." Carol said as she nods her head and walked away from the girls.
Caroline scrunched her face as she scoffed." What's so important about an old pocket watch?" Caroline asked looking at Elena confused.
" I don't know, but she could be drunk too." Elena answered with a snicker.
" So, did you even find it?"
" Yep."
" Where did you hide it?"
" I didn't, I gave it to Jeremy instead. Come on let's go find Damon and Stefan." Elena said as she got up and headed back towards the party. She wanted another dance with Damon and of course another drink too.
Caroline got up and followed Elena back to the party. When she noticed Elena and Damon together again on the dance floor. She then spotted Stefan at the bar." Hey." She said as she walked up to him.
Stefan set his glass down on the bar as he reaches for Caroline. He pulled her closer to him as he leans down and kisses her passionately and deeply." Mhmm, come dance with me." He said softly with a smirk.
" What about Damon? Shouldn't we keep an eye on him?"
" Not tonight, so far he actually has been on his best behavior, but who knows about what's going to happen tomorrow. Tonight I wanna enjoy the rest of the party and dance with my girlfriend." Stefan wanted to put Damon down, but so far Damon has actually behaved himself, which means Damon is up to something, and that's not good. Not good for everyone. But Stefan will worry about that tomorrow.
Caroline didn't say anything as she smiles even bigger and giggles softly as she grabbed Stefan and dragged him out to the dance floor with her. The moment another slow song started, Caroline stepped closer to Stefan as she wrapped her arms around his neck. They then started to move along with the music.
" Where you able to get it?" Liz Forbes asked as soon as Carol closed the door behind her once everyone was in the office and away from the party, and un wanting ears.
" She said she couldn't find it, but she will find it once she gets home tonight."
" I can get it." Logan Fell said as he leans back against the chair he was sitting in.
" And, how the hell do you plan on doing that exactly?" Liz Forbes asked.
" I'm going over there for dinner tomorrow night, Jenna invited me over. Trust me, I can get it and I will."
" Good cause we are going to need it, before the next animal attack." Liz said as she nods her head and look around the room." Because if we don't, our families even our children could be next."
" What the hell does that mean?"
" It means, they've came back and it's up to us to stop them, before they kill again." Logan answered as he sat up straight. Everyone looked around each other and nods their heads in agreement. Mystic falls once again have a vampire problem, and they gotta stop it before it's too late.
