The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 50
The next morning Mia was already there when Derek woke up, she was talking to Luke finding out how the night before had gone, he saw her smile so he knew that Luke had told her that he'd once again slept all night. He sat up on the side of his bed and Mia said, "well good morning sleeping beauty", Derek laughed and said, "well I don't know about all that but good morning Mia", he smiled at Luke and said, "good morning Luke".
Luke said, "good morning Derek", Mia said, "Hotch will be here soon, he said he needed to check on something first", Derek nodded his head and then said, "what time is it?", Mia pulled his breakfast out of her bag and said, "6:55, it's breakfast time" as she walked over and handed him his breakfast, he said, "thank you" as he sat down and stated pulling the food out of the bag, he was starving an this smelled so good that he couldn't wait to start eating.
Mia and Luke were talking when Anderson walked into the room, he said, "well good morning everybody", Luke Mia and Derek said, "morning" in unison as they smiled at him, he said, "well it seems that everybody is in a good mood this morning". Derek said, "yeppppp, because I got a good nights sleep last night" as he took another bite of breakfast
Anderson said, "so he slept all night?", Luke said, "yeah, he fell asleep a couple of minutes after I got here and slept all night long", Anderson said, "good, I'm glad to hear that, he's had a rough few weeks to say the least". Mia said, "well today will probably finish this trial so wish us luck guys", Luke and Anderson said, "good luck" in unison and then started laughing, Mia shook her head and said, "so Luke do you have any plans for the day?", he said, "I was thinking about going to the courthouse and checking things out before going home and grabbing a few hours of sleep".
Mia said, "well since you're planning to go to the courthouse I guess we'll see you there", he nodded his head and said, "that you will, that you will" as he nodded his head before turning around and heading out into the hall. Mia looked at Anderson and said, "sooooo how are you today Anderson?", he said, "I'm good and if Derek's case ends up getting dismissed today I'll be even better".
Derek said, "hey, you and me both brother, you and me both", Mia smiled and said, "alright, span class="il"Derek/span, so do you remember what we discussed last night?", he said, "yeah, you're going to put me on the stand last, right?", she said, "yes, that way if we put you up on the stand last, it will have a greater impact", Derek said, "and I'm not suppose to give more information than what you or the prosecution ask for", Mia said, "right again".
At the BAU Shane and Reid had been working all night long trying to find something, anything that would help Derek but neither were any closer to finding out anything than they were the night before. Hotch had stopped by to check and see how things were going and Shane said, "well I still haven't been able to crack it but I will, I will", Reid looked at him as he said, "the code can hide from me for a little while but I will figure it out".
Hotch filled Reid in on what they had planned to do with the case today and how they were going to put Derek on the stand last for a bigger impact, Reid agreed that it was a good idea because "Derek being the defendant will be able to show emotions and prove without a shadow of a doubt that he is innocent".
After Hotch headed to the jail to follow up with Derek and Mia Reid and Shane got back to work, they wanted to be able to pull their weight, they wanted to be able to help Derek get out of jail. Shane was looking at the screen, he said, "you can hideeeeee but I will figure you out and then you'll be my bit" and remembered that he wasn't alone in the room and said, "sorry Reid", Reid laughed and shook his head at Shane and said, "no problem Shane, no problem".
When Hotch got to the jail Derek had finished breakfast, showered and was dressed and ready to head to the courthouse, they managed to go over a few sample questions before the guards came to get him to take him to the transport van. Anderson said, "we'll see you at the courthouse", Derek nodded his head yes and said, "see ya later" as the guards cuffed Derek and led him from the room with Hotch, Mia and Anderson following behind.
