The State Verses Derek Morgan Ch 60
As the smiling couple stepped off of the bottom step they saw Fran walking out of the kitchen, she said, "I was just coming upstairs to get you, breakfast is ready", Penelope took in a deep breath and said, "ohhhh that smells amazing". Just then Henry and Jack came off of the steps and each one took a hand and led her from the living room to the dining room, they sat down one on each side of her just like they had the night before at dinner.
Derek grinned and shook his head, he knew that the boys were still adjusting to having Penelope back and he thought that the way they were taking care of her was absolutely adorable, he walked across to the dining room and sat down across from Penelope. She shrugged and smiled, he winked at her and mouthed the words, "it's okay, it's okay", she then smiled and mouthed the words, "thank you" back to him.
Soon the entire family was sitting at the table enjoying a delicious family breakfast, their first breakfast where they were all together in what seemed like forever, Fran sighed happily and said, "I can't tell you how much I've missed this, the whole family being together for breakfast, we really need to do this more often" to which everybody nodded their heads yes in agreement.
When breakfast was over Derek said, "sooooooo what's going to happen now, what do I have to do in order to get back to work?", Hotch said, "I talked to the director already this morning and he wants you to take a few weeks off to rest and relax after everything that you have been through", Hotch then looked at Penelope and said, "you too Garcia, you have a few weeks off too and it's for the same reason".
Derek looked at each other and then at Hotch and said, "thank you" in unison before getting up from the table to head through to the living room to sit and talk with everybody for a few minutes. When Penelope looked at Hotch she said, "so how are things going on the Shane front, are you going to be able to help him?", Hotch said, "I'm going to go talk to the judge that handled the case today and see what I can do and considering what lengths he went too I don't foresee any problems in getting his sentence commuted".
Derek smiled and said, "good, because he deserves it, he went above and beyond for sure", Reid said, "once he started he wouldn't stop until he had exhausted all means available to him and when he found out that Garcia was still alive, he was the first one out the door with me so he definitely deserves his freedom", Penelope said, "thank you all so much for believing in Shane", Dave said, "of course we believe in him kitten, he's the one that found you and gave us all our miracle".
Penelope sighed and smiled as she laid her head down on Derek's shoulder for a minute before saying, "wait, where's Mia?", Hotch said, "ohhhh, she said that she had to go to the courthouse, she had some papers to sign regarding Derek's case". Derek said, "I'll never be able to thank you, Mia", he looked around the room and said, "any of you really, you stuck by my side and wouldn't leave me, even when I didn't want to live".
Penelope said, "what do you mean when you didn't want to live?", Derek said, "nothing sweetness, nothing", Fran said, "ohhhh no little mister" and looked at Penelope and told her everything that had happened when Derek got attacked and almost died. When she was finished Penelope said, "Derek Michael Morgan, you are never ever to do that again, do you hear me?", he said, "I can't promise you that sweetness, I just can't be in a world where you don't exist".
Derek felt her hands on his face, she said, "I can't have my future husband dying on me and leaving me alone", he said, "I'm not pla" and hten he caught what she'd said, he looked at her and said, "wait, future husband?", she smiled and said, "I was wondering if you were going to catch that or not", he grinned and said, "ohhh I caught it, i caught it".
Penelope looked around the room and said, "I'm not waiting any more Derek, I can't take a chance on losing you either", everybody smiled, knowing what she was going to do. She took his hands in hers and said, "Derek Michael Morgan, "will you marry me?", he siad, "really, are you really proposing to me?", she grinned and said, "well I'm trying too", Derek said, "in that case, I accept", she threw her arms around his neck and said "I love you", he smiled and said, "not as much as I love you baby girl, not as much as I love you", the room was then filled with the squeals of congratulations as the family hugged the newly engaged couple.
Derek and Penelope pulled apart he said, "I don't have the ring here, it's at my house but I promise you that before this day is half over that ring will be on your finger". She grinned and said, "i believe you angelfish, I believe you" as she threw herself into his arms again as they shared another hug to celebrate their newly engaged status.
