Alma had continued looking over at Elsa and Bruno, not saying anything. Although she was quiet, Bruno could see a small scowl upon his mother's face. Bruno moved closer to Elsa and put his arm around her. Alma had moved closer to the two while the rest of the family watched in fear or concern. She gazed at her son and Elsa for another minute then she sighed heavily.

"Why did you even come back here?" Alma finally asked, her tone cold, bitter.

"We weren't planning to at all, M'ma, but...some other things have happened." Bruno replied.

Before Alma could question what Bruno had meant, she saw him place his hand upon Elsa's belly. Alma was confused at first but then upon further inspection, she could see that Elsa's stomach had grown...a lot. As if she was...

"Brunito, is she...?"

"I'm-I'm pregnant, Alma." Elsa said, her hand joining Bruno's.

Alma now looked at Elsa and Bruno in complete shock then she had looked back down at Elsa's belly where Elsa and Bruno's hands were still locked together. Alma looked back up at the couple, her look of shock slowly changing into that of anger. That same inner rage building up.

"What do you expect me to say about this?" Alma asked, quietly.

"We only ask for you to accept the baby just as much as the family has." Bruno said, slightly hopeful.

Alma looked back down at Elsa's belly, where her future grandchild was currently growing. She saw her son's hand gently rubbing the bump. A feeling of disgust had blended in with Alma's anger then. She looked back up at the two, her scowl returning.

"Marriage is one thing but you choosing to have a child with this threat is something else entirely."

Bruno and Elsa looked hurt. Bruno had expected his mother to still not accept Elsa but to still see her as a threat. Bruno could now feel anger bubble up inside him. More anger than he felt before. He and Elsa came back to be with the family only to have this happen. Bruno was sick of it.

"You're the threat." Bruno whispered over to Alma, darkly.

"What did you say?" Alma asked, turning to Bruno, making sure she heard right.

Bruno glared at his mother then had moved over to her. There was an intense staredown between them as Elsa and the family watched, wondering what was going to occur next. Alma could see the same amount of hatred she saw in Bruno's eyes the day they had that fight and once again, Alma was not going to back down. And from the look on his face, Bruno wasn't going to either.

"I said you are the threat, M'ma. You've always been the threat. As long as you are around, you will find a way to try to push my love for Elsa away by claiming she's a monster. But the only monster I see is someone who puts my wife down because of her powers, who strikes her. Who doesn't understand what we have is something special but like a beast, will try to eat away at it by any means necessary."

"How dare you." Alma growled out.

"And let me tell you another thing M'ma, if you try to harm Elsa or our child, you are playing with fire and there's no coming back from that if you do." Bruno warned.

Alma glowered at Bruno then she looked over at Elsa who looked back at her, a serious look also upon her face, then she looked at the family, all of them staring at her as if she was the witch. Alma's scornful gaze had faltered slightly, then she turned back to Bruno, then had gripped his ruana and pulled him closer.

"How do you know you won't be the ones who burn from this fire if I do?" Alma whispered.

Bruno stared at Alma, a look of distaste, then he had jerked away from her then had gone back over to Elsa's side and had grabbed her hand, then they looked over at Alma.

"We'll be certain to stay out of your way, M'ma."

Bruno had put his arm around Elsa then they had walked away and up the stairs. Alma looked over at the family and they looked at her, angry and as quiet as could be. Julieta was the first one to walk over to Alma.

"I'm going to see if Elsa needs an extra pillow for bed tonight." Julieta said.

Mirabel and Antonio had joined Julieta's side, staring at Alma, a look of appalment and hurt also upon their features. Mirabel then turned to Antonio and grabbed onto his hand.

"Come on, Tonio, let's go say 'goodnight' to your Tio and Tia." Mirabel said, looking over at Alma, smirking.

Mirabel and Antonio had followed Julieta up the stairs. Alma had looked at the remaining members of her family until they had slowly left her alone one by one. As everyone had disappeared, this was starting to look too familiar for the elderly woman. Once again, according to her, Elsa was ruining everything. Alma had sat down into her chair then she had opened up her locket, containing the small picture of her husband, Pedro.

"I know what you would want me to do in this situation, Pedro, mi querida. But...Our Brunito has stepped beyond the line of my trust...and my love...forever. As long as he's with this woman, I can't accept them both...nor this child they are to have. I had looked to you for many years on advice on how to fix things, to make things right. But...maybe this is something I need to do on my own. I won't fix it the way you want me to...because I don't want to. No more Elsa...no more heartache and worry for our family." Alma said, anger reflecting in her orbs.

Meanwhile, Julieta and Augustin had insisted to Elsa and Bruno that they could have their room and they'd be in the nursery with Mirabel. Inside of Julieta's room, Elsa was sitting on the bed, laying against the pillows, while Bruno was gently rubbing her feet.

"I know that you're thinking that could've gone better than expected." Elsa said, tilting her head up to look at her husband.

"This is why I didn't want to come here, corazon." Bruno sighed out, not looking up at Elsa.

"But doesn't it matter we have the rest of the family behind us? We're not alone in supporting our child." Elsa pointed out.

"I wish I had your optimism on this, mi vida, but...I don't."

Elsa looked at Bruno concerned then she had lifted up her hand and gently made him face her. She sat up then they had pressed their foreheads together.

"What's more important is what we think in the end, not your mother."

Bruno stared at Elsa then he had smiled a little then kissed her then had touched her cheek, their eyes never tearing apart from each other.

"It's not going to be easy dealing with having to be in the same house with her, you know."

"If I can put up with a goofy and too laidback ice harvester of a brother in law being in my castle forever, I think you and I can handle somebody as stubborn as your mother." Elsa said, chuckling.

Bruno chuckled then he had kissed Elsa again then he leaned over and placed his hand onto Elsa's belly, gently rubbing it, staring at where their unborn child was.

"I just don't understand why she wasn't at least happy about us having a baby. For as long as I had known M'ma, each grandchild was easily loved and accepted, they were special to her...at least until Mirabel. But yet, shouldn't the possibility that our child will have our powers mean anything to M'ma at all?" Bruno asked, looking up at Elsa, continuing to rub her belly.

"I think it does matter to her but as long as I'm the one carrying it, she can't see past that." Elsa replied, shrugging.

"I guess you're right. But you won't ever have to worry about me turning away from you or our child."

Elsa giggled then she kissed Bruno's forehead then his lips then had stroked his hair as they looked at each other, lovingly.

"Never will doubt you for an instant."

Elsa and Bruno had kissed. They did not pay attention as the door had creaked open and Alma had poked her head in somewhat, enough to get a look at her son and his wife. She watched as Bruno had focused back on Elsa's belly, watching him rest his head against it, then kissing it. Bruno had looked at the swell of Elsa's belly, love shining through his eyes.

"Your M'ma and I can't wait to see you, mi bebe." Bruno said softly to Elsa's belly.

Bruno had laid his head back down against Elsa's belly and then to Alma's horror, hurt, shock and especially anger, Bruno began to quietly sing to the baby. But not just any song. Her and her Pedro's love song. Alma saw her son and Elsa, a wedded couple, their new future beginning. Happy, content and expecting a child, their dream come true. Jealousy burned into Alma's veins. She had stared at Elsa and Bruno for a couple of more minutes then had closed the door, but again, they did not notice.

Later that night, Bruno and Elsa were sleeping close together. As they were doing so, Bruno had opened his eyes slightly when he thought he heard something. When all had seemed quiet, he closed his eyes again. Only a second later, Elsa now opened up her eyes as she had heard the same thing. But then...silence. Elsa closed her eyes. But then...Bruno heard the sound, only...it sounded closer, like it was right between him and Elsa. Bruno opened his eyes fully this time and had looked over and then could see something under the covers, making it's way towards them. Bruno became concerned then he turned to Elsa and had gently shaken her awake.

"Elsa, amor, wake up." Bruno whispered, urgency in his tone.

Elsa had opened her eyes and had yawned then she turned onto her side and looked at Bruno, confused, while he was keeping his eyes on whatever was underneath the covers.

"Bruno, what's wrong?" Elsa asked.

Elsa followed Bruno's gaze and she also saw the mysterious 'thing' coming over to them. Carefully and slowly, Bruno had lifted up the covers. When he saw it was, Bruno's eyes widened in panic.

"Elsa, we need to get off the bed!" Bruno cried out.

Without another word, Bruno had quickly jumped off of the bed and then he had moved Elsa away just as whatever was had gone over to their pillows. Bruno lifted up the covers and what he and Elsa were staring at was a snake. Elsa's eyes also widened and she grabbed onto Bruno as he held onto her protectively.

"It's a rare venomous snake. They only reside in the rivers." Bruno told Elsa.

The door had opened and Mirabel, Julieta and Augustin had hurried into the room, hearing Bruno yelling out. They went over to the two and then noticed the snake upon the bed.

"Dios! How did it get in here?!" Augustin asked, also panicked.

"We need to kill it!" Bruno demanded.

Mirabel nodded then she had found the nearest blunt object and had thrown it over the snake and the hissing had stopped. They saw the crushed and dead creature and then Augustin had picked it up and had taken it away. Everyone else had slowly calmed down then Julieta had laid a hand on her brother's shoulder.

"It was a good thing we heard you, hermano."

Bruno nodded in agreement then he turned to Elsa and saw her shaking against him, her eyes wide with fear. Bruno had hugged her then he stared at her in concern.

"Are you alright, carino?" Bruno asked.

"Y-Yeah. But it-it happened so fast." Elsa said, her breathing starting to become steady.

"I know."

Bruno kissed Elsa's forehead then his eyes flew down to her belly between them, he had placed his hand upon it, stroking it, then he looked at Elsa. The snake might have not come near Elsa, but what if the baby...

"Elsa, did it...did it get anywhere near..."

Elsa shook her head then she placed her hand on top of Bruno's, giving him an assuring look. Bruno had relaxed again and then held his wife and unborn son or daughter close.

"Papa is right, how did this snake even get inside Casita?" Mirabel asked.

Bruno and Elsa looked at where the snake had been. The only one who could've let it loose was Antonio but...Antonio wouldn't do something that awful to them and he wouldn't even want to encounter something that dangerous either. But then...who would and why? Maybe it was all an accident, but as Bruno kept staring at the bed, another likely possibility had reached his mind but he didn't want to jump to conclusions, not now. As he looked at Elsa and down at his hand against her belly, he just wanted to be grateful that things didn't take a turn. And if everything he was thinking about added up, they wouldn't be put at risk again.
