'Rebirth' Island
October 7, 2023, 0600 hours
"Okay Sergeant, Miss Redfield, You two are to restore power to the island, head to the lab, gather intel, blow it up and meet at roof of prison facility for extraction." said Nikolai landing the helo.
"We'll signal you when it's done Nik" said Gaz.
"Rog. Stay safe you two" said Nikolai taking his leave.
"Right then, we're burning daylight fast. Let's move" said Gaz.
Claire and Gaz head to the main power building on the island as it appears like the rest of the island, long abandoned.
"Fuckin hell, said Gaz looking at the neglected state."
Claire takes out a flashlight and lights the room to find the main power switch.
"Gaz! Over here" she said turning on the main switch.
"Aces. That was easy. Bravo 2-6 to Watcher 1 how copy?"
"Go ahead 6-2 send traffic"
"Power is back online, heading to Chemical engineering.
"Lucky for you two it's on the way towards the bioweapons lab. Take the path along the harbor and you should see chemical engineering."
"And where is that?" asked Claire.
"Other side of the island" said Kate.
"And where are we currently?" asked Gaz.
"You're likely in the security area on the island. One of the few entry points via helo. Head along the east side of the island. Factory should be closest up first. Plant the C4, then move on past the harbor and Chemical Engineering should be after that. Blow that up too and it should be a straight shot to the lab." said Kate.
"Fuckin hell." said Gaz
"Gonna be a long ass walk" adds Claire
"There should be some transportation left over across the island. Be advised, we're still in the dark on this one. They used to test the gas back in the 80s remember? Use extreme caution. Deadly force is authorized. Good luck you two. Watcher 1 out"
"Well then, we got a hell of a long walk ahead of us." said Gaz.
"Hopefully not" said Claire taking point.
The two then come across some wheels in the form of an ATV.
"Gaz, found us a ride" said Claire taking the wheel.
"You know how to drive this?" asked Gaz.
"I have a Harley Davidson back home. Take the rear and keep me covered." said Claire starting up the engine.
"Rog"
Claire revs up the ATV as she and Gaz takes a cruise towards the factory, past the living quarters.
"Looks like people used to live here" said Gaz seeing the housing.
"Likely scientists and staff. Maybe even test subjects" said Kate.
"Willing or unwilling?" asked Claire.
"I rather not have us bump into them" said Gaz.
"We're here" said Claire.
"Watcher 1 we are approaching the factory over" said Gaz.
"Copy that 6-2, this is a multi store building, standby so I cam guide you kids."
Gaz and Claire mount up on the door armed and prepared. They nod as Gaz opens up checking to see if it's clear.
"Clear!"
Claire then opens the bag containing the C4.
"Let's hope this works" said Gaz.
"Okay, head to the basement to plant the C4. Place them on the engines. Just make sure you're clear from the blast radius" said Kate.
Gaz and Claire took the stairs down to the basement of the Nova 6 factory getting a good look of the room, getting to work on planting the C4.
"I'm good here you?" asked Gaz
"Planted. Let's get out of here." said Claire
The two took the back exit and worked their way back up passing by a gondola that is connected to the Prison Block roof back to the ATV, continuing their trek.
"Sooo." Gaz began
"Soooo?" Claire asked.
"Thisn your first time on your prison island?" asked Gaz.
"Fifth actually" Claire answered.
"Fifth? You serious?"
"I just can't stay away from them" she jokes.
"What about with a guy?" asked Gaz
"Definitely not the first I've had accompany me on one either. If'you're trying to use small talk to flirt with me, you wouldn't be the first to do so either. Especially one younger than me" said Claire.
"I...erm...uh. Just trying to pass the time. Wait what do you mean younger than you?" asked Gaz
"Gotcha. Well when I was 19, after I escaped Racoon City, I went looking for mt brother. I got caught sneaking in an Umbrella facility and got sent to a prison on Rockfort Island. There I met this kid named Steve. He was 17." explained Claire.
"What happened to him?" asked Gaz.
"He didn't make it?" she answered.
"Died trying to make sure you got off the island?" asked Gaz.
"Died turning into a Bio Organic Weapon. I had no choice but to...you know.."
"I see. I'm sorry" said Gaz.
"But what about you? What did you do before the 141?" asked Claire.
"SAS Domestic Counter Terror. Worked with the Metro Police" said Gaz.
"When did that end?" asked Claire
"Bout four years ago. Al- Qatala Insurgents set off a bomb at Piccadilly Circus" said Gaz.
"And what happened?" asked Claire.
"That's when I met the Captain" said Gaz.
"Price?" asked Claire.
"We were sent in half assed. Bastards strapped a bomb vest onto a hostage. There wasn't enough time to defuse it. I couldn't save him. We stopped the attack, but you can't save em all" explained Gaz.
"At least you and Price saved the day. For what it's worth."
"Thank you Claire."
"Hey Uh, can I be honest with you?" asked Claire.
"Go on.."
"You remind me of a guy I used to know"
"How so?"
"His name was Piers. He used to have the kind of bond you and Price have but with my brother Chris."
"What else was he like?" asked Gaz.
"He was a good man. Never one to give up on people." said Claire.
"I bet he was."
"I also dated him behind Chris' back. You have no idea how hard it was to keep that a secret"
"Did you now?"
"I wanted him to keep an eye on Chris." explained Claire.
"Still with him?" asked Gaz.
"He died 11 years ago saving Chris"
"Fuckin hell." said Gaz.
"Don't worry about it. Maybe if you play your cards right..." teased Claire
"Well I mean...You are very pretty" said Gaz.
"In all seriousness Kyle, I never got a chance to thank you for saving my life." said Claire.
"It's my job. Now lets get to Chemical Engineering" said Gaz.
Claire and Gaz make it to the Chemical Engineering area.
"I'll take the power station, sweep the offices and gather intel to send to Rebecca yeah?"
"On it" said Claire
Gaz heads to the power station to hit thr switch on powering the entire area of the island as Claire heads the office building as she didn't see any computers or your typical office space.
"Gaz, the office looks to be sweeped through. No computers, no nothing."
"Any old files?"
Claire then goes to make another sweep around the office spaces.
"Old boxes, seems to be files on test subjects." said Claire.
"Copy, I'm making my way up through the garage. Standby" said Gaz.
Claire goes through the files on test subjects as she reads documents labeld "Mimic" and "Megaton"
"What the hell?" she asked confused.
"Claire?" said Gaz catching up.
"Take a look at this." she said handing him the files.
"Bloody hell. Didn't Rebecca say that the gas created some sort of variants?"
"It's not just on dogs either" said Claire looking at the photos."
"They definitely tested on humans alright" said Gaz looking over the photos on the Megatons.
"Take a look at this." said Claire looking at the photos on the Mimics.
"Now that doesn't look fucking human" said Gaz.
"Bravo 6-2 to Watcher 1 how copy?"
"Send traffic 6-2"
"Kate we just uncovered more on Nova 6 than we thought."
"More like more questions than answers" adds Claire.
"What do we got?" asked Kate.
"They tested on humans more extensively than we know. The gas mutates on humans just like the dogs found in Las Almas" said Gaz.
"There's something else too. Something not human."
"Gather as much intel as you can, physical or digital. Sounds like you kids found a goldmine"
"Rog. We're continuing the mission en route to the lab 6-2 out"
"There was a small lab underneath us. Maybe there's more to take with us."
"Good call, lets sweep the lab and keep moving."
Gaz and Claire take the intel and head back to the ATV taking the straight shot to the Bioweapons lab.
