A griffin and construction
Hiccups POV:
I was leaning against the railing of my ship looking out at the endless ocean admiring the waves crashing against the water. We've been on our way home for the past ten days. I couldn't help but think the things that have happened to me on this long journey, which started out as a simple trip to Egypt. It was then I saw a small island up ahead and figured it couldn't hurt to give Scaulder a break. This would also give my animals a chance to stretch their legs since they don't like to be stuck on a ship, which is probably why Phlegon has been running around the lower decks where I keep livestock and Nylene keeps walking around the top deck. I hope being back on dry land would help them calm down a bit while I'm able to restock on some things we need like some more drinking water.
I lay the gangplank down before walking down onto dry land followed closely by Nylene and Phlegon who seemed all too happy to spend some time off the ship. I admit Phlegon had spent a lot of time flying around the ship. I looked around the area we had decided to dock at and saw sandy beach on either side of me with dense forest up ahead of me. I figured I would be able to find a good clean water source like a creek or spring. I had a basket on my back full of flasks to fill with water with my regular sword at my side in case I ran into trouble. I walked up to the side of the ship where Scaulder was resting in the shallow water as he lowered his head towards me before I rubbed the top of his head and said.
"Thanks for the help big guy. Take a nice long rest and we'll continue our travels in two hours." He crooned before I turned to face Toothless and said. "You stay with the ship bud! Make sure nothing goes wrong and be sure keep everyone here in line since the last thing we need is any damage accidently done to the ship." He just crooned before he gave me a quick nuzzle and went to keep an eye on everyone while I turned around and made my way into the forest.
30 minutes later
I was kneeling by a small creek filling up the last of my flasks with water for the long trip home. I pulled the flask away from the creek and brought it up to my mouth before taking a long drink of the cold refreshing water. For a moment I just closed my eyes and enjoyed the taste of the water but was quickly brought out of it by what sounded like a roar mixed with a eagles screech. I could easily tell by the sound that it was a cry of distress so without hesitation I dropped the flask I was holding and ran towards the sound. I ran for three minutes non-stop as the cries got louder. When I reached the source of the cries I found myself in a clearing with a cliff at the end however it was what was on this cliff that caught my attention. I saw a giant twice as big as my father wearing a loincloth around his waist and a metal helmet holding the ends of two large chains while the other chain ends were wrapped around what I think was a griffin who was struggling to get out of the chains. The giant kept yanking hard on the chains as he yelled out.
"COME HERE YOU WORTHLESS BEAST! YOU WON'T STOP ME FROM CLAIMING THE TREASURE YOU GUARD!" The griffin just screeched in pain from the chains digging into its skin.
I had heard about griffins being guardians of great treasures and artifacts of true power, which means big trouble if this giant got his hands on whatever it was this griffin was guarding. I took out my sword and charged at the giant from behind letting out a battle cry before I plunged my sword into the back of his left leg. I heard him let out a roar of pain before letting go of the chains giving the griffin a chance to escape which it took by flying off the cliff with a small chest in its claws. It was then the giant turned to face me and yelled out.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THAT MORTAL!" He then swung brought his fists down towards me but I was able to dodge them.
I looked up at him before looking down at my empty hands wishing I had brought an extra sword before I had to dodge another strike from the giant. It was then I felt something form in my hand only to find it to be my star sword. I smiled at it knowing I needed it now but my joy was short lived since it was at that moment the giant took another swing at me but I ducked through his legs and made it to the cliff. He turned around and charged at me fists raised. I charged at him with my star sword ready before I kneeled and slid between his legs while slashing at his knees. With my blade they cut through the giants skin like a hot knife through butter. I heard the giant roar in pain before he fell to the ground and slid over the cliffs edge. The last thing I heard was a loud scream followed by a large thump. I walked over to the edge of the cliff and found the giant lying motionless at the bottom on a small rocky beach. I then heard a screech from above me and looked up to see the griffin coming in for a landing in front of me. I noticed it had brown-feathered wings with a body that was covered in fur, which was a lighter shade of brown, then the wings, then the wings, the white feathered head of an eagle and yellow talons for front legs. I noticed it still had the chains wrapped around his body, which seemed to be digging into its skin. I read that when dealing with griffins you should treat them with nothing but respect since they're very proud creatures. I stabbed my sword into the ground in front of me and bowed to the griffin to show my respect. It bowed back before I slowly approached it and took note that this one was a male. I gave him a gentle pat on the head before I decided I should try bonding with him like I do with my dragons so I took a step back before looking away and holding out my hand. I waited a few moments before I felt the griffins feathered head against my hand. I slowly turned my head to face the griffin and smiled
I noticed a metal collar around his neck that was connected to a long chain leading over the cliff. I ran my hand along the collar and felt the griffin wince before I felt the lock on it. I gave the griffin a gentle pat on the neck and said.
"Don't worry my friend. I think I can get this thing off you if you just give me a chance."
He lowered his head in reply allowing me access to the lock that was at the top of the collar. I pulled out my dagger and stuck the point of the blade in before I began to pick the lock of the collar. As I picked the lock I figured someone had captured the griffin and used the chains and collar to keep it here as some kind of guardian but a guardian to what was the question running through my mind. I knew the only way to find out was to follow the chain once I got the collar off of course. It was then I heard the satisfying click of the lock opening up followed by the collar coming off. I smiled as I heard the collar hit the ground before the griffin once more stood up and stretched out his wings before he ran to the cliff and took flight. I couldn't really blame him since he must have been stuck here for a long time so I couldn't blame him for wanting to stretch his wings a bit. I decided it best wait till he got back before I went to see what he was guarding since he might take it as an insult that I would invade his nest without his permission or without him being there to keep an eye on me.
It was three minutes later that he returned and bowed to me once more as I bowed back and asked.
"Would it be alright if I saw what you were guarding so closely?" He just bowed before nudging me towards the cliffs edge.
It was when we were at the edge of the cliff I saw a large ledge sticking out which formed a path leading to a large cave. When I entered the cave, I saw multiple piles of gold drachmas and jewels surrounding a wooden nest that had been lined with gold. I took note that the end of the chain, which once held the griffin, was literally built into the wall of the cave. This was more than enough proof for me to understand that this griffin wasn't guarding this treasure of his own free will but was instead captured and forced to guard it. I turned to the griffin and said.
"You're free now! You don't have to continue to guard this treasure unless you want to!" He let out a screech before nudging me towards his nest. "Is there something you want me to see in you nest?" He just let out another screech before nudging me again.
I slowly walked over to the nest and looked inside to see lying in its center was what appeared to be a palm sized orb, which I would have mistaken for a giant pearl if it weren't for the faint glow it was giving off. I slowly reached for it but looked at the griffin for permission but he just stared at me without moving. When I picked it up it felt warm in my hand as if it were alive but there was definitely off putting about this thing. I looked up at the griffin and asked.
"How in the world did this thing get here with you?" It was then I felt the orb begin to vibrate in my hand so I looked down at it before saying. "What in the world?" It was then an image began to play in the orb showing a rich man if his clothes were anything to go by holding the orb up and laughing before he said.
"With the eye of the Graeae's to tell me everything I need to know in order to become rich beyond my wildest dreams." I then saw the griffin enter the image pulling on its chain as it tried to claw the man who just glared at him. "Oh shut up you worthless beast! I paid a pretty drachma to get you so you could guard my treasure so get used to your new life here!" He then let out a cackle and put what I now know is the eye of the Graeae's into the nest before walking out of the cave.
It was then the image faded as I turned back to the griffin and said.
"Okay now that guy is just cruel. Honestly who forces an incredible creature like you to be a prisoner like this?" The griffin just spread his wings and screeched before the realization of what I had in my hand hit me. "Odin's ghost I have to get this thing back to the Graea's or there's going to be big trouble if they find out I've got it now." I turned to the griffin. "Well enjoy your freedom big guy but right now I have to run."
I ran out of the cave and back up to the top of the cliff when I noticed a sudden fog heading my way, which seemed to possess the voices of elderly ladies yelling at each other. It was then the griffin ran out in front of me and got into a fighting stance when the fog began to clear and I got my first look at whom the voices belonged to. The voices belonged to three old woman wearing grey tattered robes with large blindfolds over their eyes and golden headbands with large circle indents in the center. They had grey skin, which resembled storm clouds in color along with long hair that was full of knots, split ends and parts that were sticking out. They kept yelling about the eye and demanding its return from me. Knowing it would not be a good idea to anger them I gave the griffin a pat on the head to calm him down before I held the eye up and said.
"Calm down please. I just found the eye and I have no problem with returning it to you three." One of them came forward and held out her bony hand.
"Give us back the eye child!"
I slowly reached my hand with the eye forward before dropping it into her hand which she quickly pulled back to her body the second the eye was in it. She then took the eye and put it in the dent on her golden band on her head where it surprisingly changed to resemble an actual eye. She leaned towards me, which I admit made me feel uncomfortable before she said.
"You aren't the one who stole the eye from us!" I admit she was terrifying but I had seen worse.
"No, I found the cave where the eye was being kept while being watched over by a griffin." It was then the two others came up from behind her and stood on either side before the one on the right said.
"Well I take it you want something in return for retrieving the eye."
"No, I'm good." I saw their jaws drop before the one to the left asked.
"You truly want nothing. Not even the knowledge of your future we can bestow upon you?"
"No, I prefer not to worry about my future and cross the bridges when I come to them." The middle one replied.
"Wise words for a mortal but a word of advice. That griffin will now be loyal only to you so best take it with you as it shall be helpful in the upcoming battles."
"I will and thank you." The fog that once concealed them appeared again before once again concealing them and then clearing leaving nothing where they once stood before turning to the griffin. "You know the sad thing is that this isn't the weirdest thing to ever happen to me but you get used to it." He just cocked his head to the side as I chuckled. "Okay well they said you were loyal to me now so do you want to join me? There are other animals who are on the team so you would need to learn to get along with them as well." He bowed to me as I smiled and gave his head a rub. "We'll need to think of a name for you." I ran my hand through my hair. "Now what to call you? It should be something noble and proud like your kind are." The griffin stood proud hearing this before I snapped my fingers and said. "How's about Plutarach which means wealth since your kind has known to guard great treasures?"
He just bowed to me showing his acceptance of the new name before I gave him a pat on the neck. It was then he lowered his body down offering me access to his back. I hesitated for a few seconds before slowly mounting him before he began to run and took off from the ground flapping his wings. I enjoyed feeling the sun on my face as the wind rushed through my hair before I directed Plutarach towards the ship. When we came in for a landing my dragons and Phlegon and Nylene looked ready for a fight before they saw me on Plutarach's back as I dismounted him. I walked out in front of him and said.
"Easy there guys! No need to be hostile! This here is Plutarach and he's the latest addition to our team so try to be nice okay?" They all lowered their heads in agreement. "Good now Scaulder I need you to take us around the island because there are some things we need to collect." He growled before I loaded everyone back onto the ship and took off.
1 hour later
We were once again out on the open ocean only this time I had the giant's helmet and the chains he used to try and capture Plutarach with in my cargo hold as souvenirs along with every single bit of wealth that was in that cave. I figured the noble who would Plutarach deserved it for what he did to him and besides I left him a message on the wall thanking him for the riches. I also took Plutarch's nest so he had some place to sleep and from what I could tell he liked his nest. I looked out towards the summit and couldn't help but wonder what the Graea's meant when they mentioned my future battles but I knew I would deal with that when it came to it. For now when I get home I had a lot of work to do since in my spare time I've been designing fountains, a bathhouse for my home, plans to replace all the glass windows in my home with glass that only dents, building highways through my jungle and forest to make things a bit easier if I just wanted a stroll and possibly building my own coliseum but instead of holding fight in there I planned to train my dragons there since a coliseum would be perfect for training dragons with so much room and the ability to fill it with water for tidal classes. All I know is that when I get home I have a whole lot more work to do starting with the strange blue crystal the Egyptian gods gave me along with the statues.
15 days later
We were finally home and I could see my island in the distance as my heart swelled with joy at the thought of being back on my own island. I admit I could have travelled there using my portal doors but travelling on a ship was half the fun of a journey. I knew I was in for a lot of attention from my animals and dragons when I got home but I figured it was best to get through it then help everyone settle in with the new members of our group. Once all the excitement of our return was over I still had to figure out those statues and blue crystal.
20 minutes later
We finally docked in the ship shed at the island and found all my dragons and animals waiting for us. I had a hard time calling them off so I could breathe while I also tried to avoid being drowned in dragon slobber. I pushed their heads away along with trying to get my wolves and jaguars to get off my chest and getting my monkeys to stop screeching. I looked around at them all and said.
"Sorry we took so long guys. Our trip to Egypt turned into a bigger adventure which wound up taking us to Rom but rest assured that that trip is the last one for a good long while." They all roared, barked or screeched hearing this as I smiled. "Now let's introduce you to the latest members of our group."
Half an hour later
We just finished unloading everything and were just taking stock of everything. Seeing all the stuff I now had I knew we would first need to get some wagons down here to begin moving it all into the building I call home so I could sort it all out. I was going through the stuff I got from Egypt when I noticed the blue crystal I got from the Gods was glowing as if it were pulsing with some kind of power. I picked it up and much to my surprise it felt warm and almost alive. I held it away from my body towards the island and saw it begin to glow a little brighter before I pulled it back towards me the glow dimmed slightly. Seeing this I held the crystal out towards the volcano and saw it glow brighter but when I turned it away from the volcano it dimmed. I figured this was a sign that there was something at the volcano that was drawing the piece towards it. I looked down at the piece and figured I could deal with it after I had all my animals settled in and everything up at the house.
Half an hour later
I was now with Toothless flying towards the volcano with the crystal in the palm of my hand as it glowed and vibrated like crazy as we got closer to the volcano. All the stuff I had gathered was all in my home and sorted into their rightful places but not set up yet since my curiosity about the crystal was driving me nuts. The books I had gathered were now all waiting in the library waiting to be sorted later, my trophies were on a large marble table I built into my trophy room so it would rise from the floor and become a part of the floor. I built this table so I would be able to sort out any trophies I bring back from my trips when I had the time. The golden Falcons and the statues I received from the Egyptian gods were now in my private study. The falcons were there since that is where I planned to use them while the statues were there so I could study them. All the weapons I gathered were now in my armory and the food was in storage including the wine I had bought from Rome. Phlegon was now settled into one of the free dragons pens in the room I built for stoker classes which would suit him until I could build him a proper stable which could withstand his flames while Plutarach had yet to stop flying around the island. I'm guessing he was just getting a feel for his new home. Nylene was mostly lounging around with my jaguars in the jungle since I'm guessing she enjoyed the warmth and the shade of the area. Heatwave like Plutarach was flying around the island somewhere most likely exploring it.
It was then I saw that we were approaching the volcano and would be there soon and the crystal was glowing and shaking like crazy. As we came in for a landing I looked down at the crystal that felt as if it were pulling me towards the statue of Toothless whose eyes I began to notice were glowing and seemed to be pulsing as if they were alive. It was at that moment the statues mouth opened before a long unending plasma blast shot out of its mouth and onto the ground in front of it. It was then to my surprise the ground opened up before a large blue crystal model of my island came out. When the beam stopped coming out of the mouth it closed up before the crystal in my hand began pulling again only this time it was way stronger then before so this time I let it go. I watched as the gem flew towards the other side of the model before slowly hovering over it. It then slowly floated down and became fit into the side of the model like a puzzle piece. As it slowly fit into the spot I noticed the crystal was changing color from blue to yellow. When it was firmly in the spot I felt the ground beneath me shake before I ran to the edge of the volcano, which gave me a complete view of the island to see what was happening. It was then I saw rising from the water was a new piece of land that looked to be a desert. I realized it was in the same place where the crystal piece fit in on the crystal model, which meant the gift from the Egyptian gods, was my own desert. I then heard a rattling from behind me, which I saw, was the model going back into the ground. I turned to Toothless and said.
"Well bud it looks like we have a new section of island to explore." He just crooned before I mounted him and we took off.
4 months later
It has been three months since we got back and I still haven't gone to Berk to see what's going on but I've been busy with arranging all my new stuff helping my new animals and dragons settle in and exploring my new desert. The new desert did of course mean I had new ideas for new buildings that were added to my construction plans. In the time I've been back I have been doing a whole lot of work such as putting all my new trophies on proper display.
The helmet I got from my fight with the giant before I saved Plutarach was now resting against the back wall of my Greek trophy room on a foot tall marble pedestal with the chains the giant used circling around the helmet. In my regular trophy room on a marble pedestal behind a glass case was the eye that came with the tablet from when I summoned Heatwave. The statue of the manticore now rested in the middle of the room on a marble pedestal, which was a foot tall and in front of it was another pedestal that reached up to my waist and behind a glass case on this pedestal was the amulet I got from the defeated manticore surrounded by its quills pointing towards the amulet. The gladiator's triton was now hanging proudly on the wall, while the Uraeus of the Sphinx now rested on its own marble pedestal behind a glass case. My wreath of victory sat proudly on a marble pedestal while the sword of the general I defeated hung on the wall for all to see. I had done one addition to all my trophies and that was under each of them was a small bronze plaque saying what it was, when I got it and where I got it. I had also placed some of the art pieces like statues, vases and paintings I've gathered in either the art gallery or displayed them around the house in someplace while the weapons I gathered were now in the armory with the armor I took with me on my trip.
Speaking of the armory I had installed a special sealed vault in my armory, which I built to hold my star sword. This vault was at the back and imbedded in the wall. Now I admit this wasn't really that much of a vault as it was a locked box in a wall since it wasn't big and held only enough room for my star sword. To describe it the outside of the vault looked like a gronkle iron lions head with ruby eyes built into the wall but inside the lions mouth was the star sword at the back. In order to open the mouth I have to open a small door on the lions forehead to show a slot where my stone of good fortune would need to be used as a key to open the mouth of the lion. When the mouth is open I have to reach in up to my shoulder before I can grip the handle and pull out the sword. Some may say I went a little overboard with the swords protection but it was just a precaution since I may be the only one able to use the sword but it doesn't hurt to be safe.
As for the new desert addition to my island, I had done a full fly over the entire area and saw that it was mostly sand and desert with a few rocks coming out of the sand from time to time and a large oasis in the center. I also took note that when I crossed over into the desert it got a whole lot hotter as if I were in Egypt. I admit this place was definitely going to come in handy to push myself to the limits in the future. It didn't hurt that Nylene and Heatwave had taken to the desert like fish to water, which wasn't surprising since Nylene was a desert cat at heart while Heatwave was literally made of sand.
Speaking of the islands new arrivals they had all settled in quite well to their new environments. Phlegon now helped pull wagons to move large quantities of items and of course he still continued to pull my chariot on the ground so I could enjoy the view of the different environments from the ground and I did enjoy the thrill of riding my chariot. Plutarach now helped guard the island and spent most of his days circling the sky keeping an eye on things. Plutarach patrolled the sky's for any trouble below and when he wasn't he would be in his nest keeping a watchful eye over the island. Nylene roamed the desert, keeping lookout for any form of trouble or just lounging around the oasis. Heatwave also stuck to the desert but mostly stuck to his sand form when moving around the desert.
The thing that kept me busy the most however was the construction and renovations I've been doing around the buildings. I had replaced every glass window with the glass that doesn't shatter but dent. This way it would be a whole lot harder for anything to try and break the glass. I had also with the help of my dragons installed highways like they had in Rome going all around the island. I even had them running through the Mayan jungle and desert though I did have to build them into the ground and make walls at the sides which were a foot thick and reached my knees in height to prevent any plants growing onto the road or sand covering the road. Phlegon did enjoy racing down these highways pulling my chariot behind him and I couldn't blame him since it did get my blood pumping as well.
Then there was the bathhouse I had built on the side of my house so I was able to build a hallway to it. The bathhouse contained one large bath in a large room. The bath was made of pure white marble, as was the whole building with the bath at the end of the room against the wall. The bathhouse started with a large door at the end of the hallway from the main house, which leads to the bathhouse. When you first enter through the door you find yourself in a wide white marble hall with white marble columns built into the wall. I had covered the bottom of the walls with mosaics which reached up to my waist as they took the form of different tidal classes swimming through the water. I had also placed marble two marble benches at the end of the hall for me to sit on or place my towel and clothes. Above next to these benches were towel racks so I'd have a place to hang towels for me to dry myself off with. Finally, at the end of this hall past the benches were three steps which lead up to the bath.
The bath itself was built to be shaped like an octagon with each side holding a bench for the one bathing to sit on with a large walkway circling around it the entire bath which could be accessed at the front of the bath, at each point of the octagon was a large pillar built into a wall which was pointing in but where each pillar reached the walkway there was the head of a Scauldren pointing into the bath and from these heads the water would come out while higher up on the pillars were torches, at the front of the bath were four steps leading into the bath itself while at the back was three stain glass windows. The middle one had a bewilderbeast breaching the water, the one on the right was one of a scauldren breaching the water facing the bewilderbeast and the one on the left was a seashocker breaching the water facing the bewilderbeast. In the center of the bath on the floor was a circle made of black marble and when lifted the water drains from the bath and flows out into the ocean through some pipes. In order to fill the bath, you just have to pull a lever on the pillar that is on the right side of the baths front where a person enters and to drain it you just have to pull the lever on the left. (AN: If you are having trouble picturing the bath then just picture the prefect bath from Harry potter but take away that fountain with all the taps, replace the stain glass windows and put Scauldren heads on each of the pillars surrounding the bath) Above the bath on the ceiling I had painted the tidal class dragon symbol in the center of the circular ceiling so it took up the majority and surrounded it with smaller paintings of the other dragon class symbols. The heat from my fireworms nest was the thing that heated the water, which allowed me to enjoy a nice peaceful bath when I just wanted to clean myself and not use the hot springs that I prefer to only use after a battle to help rest my muscles and help heal my minor wounds.
Another addition to my islands buildings was the marble gazebo I built in the desert by the oasis. This one was rectangular in shape with a total of six marble pillars on the front and back sides while there were three one the left and right side holding the roof up, a marble Egyptian style handrail surrounding it, there were three steps leading up to the platform, between each pillar were yellow curtains which came down and could be anchored to the platform incase the winds started to pick up and began blowing sand. On the platform there was a large circle shaped fire pit in the middle, circling around the inside against the handrail were marble benches with alpaca fur stuffed cushions stuck to the tops for comfort which Nylene slept on at night and for some of the day, also hung on the top of each pillar was a torch being held by a statue of an Egyptian god holding their arms out that had been carved out of the marble I used to make the pillar. Bastet loved this gazebo and considered it her den where she rested and it's also where I dropped off her food.
The next big addition to my island was a tall tower I had built in the forest. I had named the tower 'The Griffins Roost' and the reason for this name is because it's the tower I built for Plutarach to call home since Griffins prefer to live at high altitudes. It was fifty feet high and I mean my dads feet, made of white marble, circular in shape on the outside but square on the inside, it had a pulley system on the inside to lift the gronkle iron platform with handrails and four built in torches at each corner, to the top level with the pull of a lever, along the way up there were square shelves sticking out of the walls which held different metal statues I had made for decoration and to hold torches which were all filled with small amounts of monstrous nightmare gel. I had used the gel and some inner pipes in the statues to connect all the torches together so when I lit the ones at the bottom floor they would all light up and to refill them all I would have to do is pour the gel into a slot at the top of the tower. In between each of these statues was a small rectangular window to allow both sunlight and fresh air in while also letting the smoke from the torches out.
Once the platform reaches the top it enters through a hole in the roof allowing me to walk out onto the floor I built underneath the roof. This room was circular in shape, had a circular table running around the walls with five pillars holding up the next floor with glass windows which could slide down to open them and mirrors that reflected the sun to different parts of the circular table. In the middle of this room sat a single table holding the chest with the two statues I got from the Egyptian gods and circling around them were stairs leading up to the next floor. Up the stairs and through a trap door is a large platform with five pillars holding up a dome shaped roof forming a gazebo with marble handrails built in between the pillars except for two pillars, which had a large white marble landing platform, there was also a large slab of marble which Plutarch used to sharpen his talons and in the center of all this was Plutarach's nest where he spends his nights. Meanwhile at the bottom I had painted the insides surrounding walls with murals of griffins in flight and set up four standup torches in the corners of the tower. I have to say though out of all my buildings this was the one I was most proud of since I felt it was a work of art on both the outside and inside.
The Griffins Roost was of course more than just a nesting area for Plutarach though. On the floor where I kept the statues I got from the gods was where I kept one of the most destructive weapons I've ever seen. This weapon was the statues and I admit at first glance they didn't seem like more than decorations but when lined together with Sekhmet behind Ra with light shining directly into Sekhmet they are the most dangerous things I have ever seen. It took me a while to figure it out but eventually the instructions made sense to me. The trick was to line them up with Ra in front of Sekhmet and then channel light onto the statue of Sekhmet. The light would then fill up the statue before the light shoots out of the eyes and into the statue of Ra and fill it up. Once the statue of Ra was full it would then shoot out a beam that could destroy a sea stack and I know the beam could do this because a sea stack was the first thing to be destroyed with it. I knew if this power fell into the wrong hands it would mean chaos which is one of the reasons I kept the statues here were Plutarach could guard them. (AN: Idea from batman series.) Another reason I kept them here was because this room was built to handle them with the table allowing me to properly aim them and the mirrors to focus the suns light.
Then there is Phlegons stables I built next to the dragon pens since the dragons had begun considering both him and Plutarach one of their own. This like my other buildings was made of pure marble so it would be hard for him to burn down. It was a typical stable with three pens but instead of wood I used gronkle iron for the pens gates to avoid a fire. Inside the pen were two gronkle iron troughs on the left and right sides against the walls with one for water and the other for food. Phlegon had filled his bed at the back with straw and branches, which fortunately never caught fire since his flames dulled to barely warm when he was going to sleep. Phlegons chariot waited outside the pens for when I wanted to go for a ride along the trails so it was always ready.
Looking back at all the latest additions in both buildings and inhabitants I have to say I was pretty proud of what my dragons, my animals and me had accomplished. Call me arrogant but I had to say all our hard work would most likely be remembered far into the future. Today however I wasn't going to be putting up any new buildings, forging any new weapons, designing any new inventions or travelling to any new and exotic places. No today I was going to be doing something far more challenging but it had to be done no matter how much I didn't want to do it. Today I was going back to Berk to check up on the village and its inhabitants who I have not seen since I left for Egypt months ago. I knew this would mean everyone would be swarming me to know what happened and what challenges my latest adventure threw at me. Then there is also the case that my father and Gobber doubt I have all the stuff I have on my island, which with the help of my golden falcons I've been able to see they still doubt. I also know they are planning to ask me to give them a tour of my island which I intended to give if it would shut them up and crush their doubts about me doing just fine on my own. If nothing else it would at least shut them up about me not doing well on my own and possibly get them to leave me alone when it comes to moving back into the village.
Right now I was on the ship I always use when I was visiting Berk. With me was Maelstrom and Toothless in case some trouble started. I leaned over the rails of my ship looking at the fast approaching island and knew I was in for a whole lot of questions on why I've been away for so long when I said I was just going to be visiting Egypt for a few weeks. I knew I was right about the people wanting answers if the large crowd at the dock with my dad and Gobber at the front of it all. As we came into dock I tossed them a rope to tie my ship to the dock. I let the gangplank down and walked down with Maelstrom at my side and Toothless following behind. When I reached the dock my father stepped forward and asked.
"And where have you been all this time. You said you were just going to Egypt for a couple of weeks but it's been months." I shrugged.
"Well some things came up and I wound up visiting Rome." Gobber then stepped forward.
"Rome? Lad what in the name of Odin were ye doing in Rome of all places."
"Well let's see I was stopping two coups, partaking in a chariot race, killing a manticore, forging a sword from a star, fighting in the coliseum, attending political balls and studying the inventions of Rome." Everyone just stared at me blankly before Gobber asked.
"What?"
"It's a long story Gobber." My dad then stepped in.
"Well you'll have plenty of time to tell us everything because you aren't leaving Berk until we hear everything." I shrugged.
"Okay let's go to the Great hall and I'll tell you everything from when I first arrived back in Egypt." He nodded before we all made our way to the great hall.
3 hours later
It has been three long hours of telling everyone what's been going on in my life and answering questions that come up. I did however leave out some details like the golden falcons and powerful statues I got from the Egyptian gods since I didn't want everyone to know the power I had in my possession. The reason why I decided to keep them a secret was because I highly doubt they would take it nicely that I had a weapon that could easily destroy any building on Berk like it was nothing with my statues or that I could see and hear whatever they're doing with my golden falcons. Of course I had other fears like what the twins would do if they found out about the statues since there is no doubt they would try to get me to lend them the statues which would mean big trouble and Snotlout would most likely want the falcons so he could either sell them or use them to spy on me to learn how I train dragons or possibly spy on girls when they're bathing. Now however it is finally done which means I could go home and spend the day taking a stroll through my jungles with my jaguars and monkeys, go for a stroll with my wolves in the forest, enjoy the view from the top of the griffins roost with Plutarach and Ikan, go for a swim with my tidal classes and Kal, work on my tan with Nylene and Heatwave in the desert or perhaps just spend a quiet day in the library. It was with these thoughts in mind I stood up from the table and said.
"Well you all have your answers as to what I've been up to so if that's all I will be on my way." As I began to leave I felt a hand land on my shoulder stopping me. When I turned to see the hand belonged to Gobber. "What is it Gobber?"
"Well lad we know you've been pretty busy but your father and I were hoping-" I held up a hand silencing him.
"Let me guess! You want me to give the both of you a tour of my island and my buildings."
"How did you know what I was going ta ask?"
"Gobber! I have my ways and let's leave it at that."
"Alright but what do you say?" I paused for a moment before I answered.
"Sure! When do you want to take the tour?"
"Oh come on lad just think abou-" He paused for a moment. "Did you just agree to it?"
"Yeah I did and I have no problems as long as you both obey the rules." My dad stepped forward.
"And what are the rules?"
"Nothing serious dad. Just don't steal anything, don't touch anything, don't aggravate any of my animals or dragons, don't wonder off and stay together."
"We can do that."
"Good! Now when would you like to do the trip."
"How's about in an hour?" I shrugged.
"Sure why not." Gobber then said.
"And while we wait how's about you help me in the forge lad? Work's been piling up since you left!"
"Sure it'll keep me busy." He chuckled.
"Just like old time aye."
"I guess so." We then left for the forge with Toothless and Maelstrom.
1 hour later
I was now at the dock waiting by my ship with Gobber just waiting for my father to get down to the dock. Toothless and Maelstrom were on the ship waiting for us. It was then my dad came down the dock and said.
"Sorry I took so long but had to resolve a fight." I shrugged.
"It happens dad. I got used to you being late for things a long time ago like how you were always late to pick me up from school." He looked down at this. "Well let's get going since I'd like to get the tour done before night fall and before the other teens try to sneak on again."
"The teens tried to sneak aboard?" I shrugged.
"They didn't make it far with Maelstrom guarding the ship." He nodded before we all proceeded to board my ship before taking off.
AN: Well that does it for this chapter and I hope you all enjoyed it because in the next chapter there is going to be a bit more action and I'm not talking about the tour. For those of you who are having trouble remembering all the rooms and buildings on the island you can use this to help keep track of them all. Please be kind with the reviews and keep in mind that my town is going through load shedding which means long power outages, which means less writing time, which means new chapter could be a while. Just be kind with the reviews okay.
