The night and the fury
Hiccups POV:
It has been two weeks since my little trip to Outcast Island and things have been busy since then. My dad interrogated me on everything that had happened on Outcast Island so he could get a better idea of what Alvin knows. After I told him everything I mentioned he once again told me to start training some of the villagers to ride dragons but I just told him it was only to be used as a last resort. He just kept pestering me about it until I went back to my ship at the docks where he followed me as people built up Berks defenses. When we reached the docks he told me this was a time for a last resort but I just told him there were no outcasts on dragons so I was not training dragons for Berk but I would continue to help patrol the island and fight any fleets. This shut him up for a while but I knew he'd keep trying until I gave in but I was in no hurry to teach those who used me as a punching bag for so long how to train dragons. I knew Alvin wasn't training dragons yet because we hadn't seen any Outcast riders but if the last attack was anything to go by he was just using the things I said against us. He released a flock of changewings that would have been able to cause a lot of damage to the village and caused a whole lot of trouble. Fortunately Angel was able to intercept them and calm the flock down but it wasn't easy to calm them down enough to follow me and Toothless back to their island. Since then things have surprisingly been quiet since then which was worrying but I used my falcons to keep an eye on the Outcasts but Mildew keeps telling Alvin that Berks destruction is on its way but he has to be patient.
Lately my dad has been worried about Alvin collecting dragons from Dragon Island and I admit I was worried he was right which is why I went there twice a week to see if there were any Outcasts. My dad had also made it clear to everyone in the village that the island was off limits to everyone since if the outcasts were gathering dragons from there then they might be able to capture any Berkian who decides to visit the island. I was all right with this since it meant nobody would find my mine, which I prefer to keep hidden and it makes my other project on Dragon Island easier to do without disruptions. For my new project I have been working on training some of the local terrors to keep an eye out for anyone coming towards the island then to come to my island. The way it works is each terror patrolled a different part of the island and depending on which terror came then that section had an intruder. Training some terrors to do this would be anything but easy but I was making a little progress. It also didn't hurt that I was able to use these trips to continue my mining operation, which resulted in the contents of my vaults jewel section expanding. Seriously I had more than enough jewels to fill the great hall to the roof and still have plenty of jewels left over.
Right now it's nightfall and I was on my way to Dragon Island with Toothless, Violet, Scorch, Coal, Gas and Flash. The reason for us being on our way was because the teens decided to ignore my fathers orders about staying away from Dragon Island and go do some training there for future battles against any future Outcast attacks involving dragons. Fortunately Fishleggs left his parents a note informing them of what was happening and where him and the others were. When his parents told the other parents and my father let's just say when they get back I would hate to be in their shoes since when my dads done tearing into them about disobeying his orders they then have their angry parents to deal with. The reason I'm going to collect them however is because the last thing I need is for them to find my mine which I know will only cause trouble for me in the future.
I looked at my dragons and knew I made the right choice when it came to choosing them since their species were the ones that were native to dragon island so them being there wouldn't stir up too much trouble. It was at that moment the island came into view so I turned to my dragons and said.
"Alright gang let's round up the trouble makers." They all just growled before we flew in.
We then flew down to the island where I saw a boat docked and knew it belonged to the teens since it had the Berkian crest on it and fortunately my mine was on the other side of the island. I turned to my dragons smiling as I said.
"Let's get to work."
We took off on a low height this time flying just over the trees as we searched for the missing teens. It wasn't long before we found Snotlout who was on the edge of a cliff whit a torch and sword. I signaled my dragons to stay low while me and Toothless got closer so I could hear what he was saying. When we got close enough I had to hold in my laughter at him monologue himself as a super Viking when he was just being an idiot. I dismounted Toothless and slowly walked up behind him as he said.
"Completely unstoppable!" I leaned forward from behind him.
"And a complete idiot!" He looked back at me and gave a shriek before he backed up off the cliff into the small lake below as I looked down with Toothless. "Like I said, a complete idiot." I mounted Toothless and glided down to the edge of the lake where Snotlout just got out of the water looking up at me. "Have a nice swim?" He looked up at me.
"What are you doing here?"
"Collecting you and the others who decided to ignore the chiefs orders and came to the island when they were told not to."
"Oh come on!" I just rolled my eyes before I signaled my dragons down before they flew down and surrounded him.
"Come on Snotlout let's go round up the others." He just grumbled but a growl from each of my dragons shut him up.
After that it didn't take us long to find Fishleggs who walked right into Violets face, took one look at her and screamed so loud it made me and everyone of my dragons flinch before he ran back and right into Snotlout. They both went tumbling into a bush, which I recognized as a thorn bush and had to hold back my laughter. When they finally got out Snotlout glared at Fishlegs and asked.
"What's the matter with you fish face?"
"There's a big nadder back there!" I chuckled and walked forward and gestured Violet forward.
"Violets not going to hurt you Fishleggs but I'm pretty sure you're parents will when we get back to Berk." He turned to me.
"Hiccup!" He began to shake as he looked at me just realizing I was here. "When did you get here?"
"I arrived on the island a few minutes ago and I have been here since you ran into Violets face."
"Oh well what brings you here to Dragon Island?"
"Your parents worrying about you and my dad wanting to punish you and the others for disregarding his orders."
"He wasn't happy was he?"
"Let's just say when we get back I would not want to be you." He gulped and I couldn't help but smile. "Whelp come on let's go gather the others."
After that we had no trouble collecting the twins who didn't even realize we were there because they were too busy fighting with each other. It took Gas and Flash picking them up by the back of their shirts to get their attention. When they were dropped we went through the motions of me telling them that when we got back to Berk they were in a whole lot of trouble. They of course didn't care and Ruffnut began flirting with me much to my annoyance saying how grateful to me if I talked to my father and got him to go easy on her. I just had Scorch pick her up by the back of her shirt and put her down away from me so we could go find Astrid and go back to Berk. When we finally found her she was looking down over a cliff at what looked to be a campfire. I walked up behind her and said.
"Hey Astrid how's it going?" She jumped slightly before turning around to face me with her axe at the ready but when she saw it was I she lowered her weapon.
"What are you doing here Hiccup?"
"I could ask you the same thing but to answer you my father sent me here to pick you and your crew up." I stepped forward. "Now what are you doing here?"
"Well since you refuse to teach us how to handle the dragons I decided we should come here and learn how to deal with them ourselves."
"Ignoring my fathers warning about Outcasts possibly being here able to take people hostage along with his orders to stay off the island?"
"What were we supposed to do? You won't tell us anything about how to handle the dragons out of some stupid grudge."
"Do you honestly think I won't teach you lot how to train dragons out of some ridiculous grudge?" She nodded. "You're being ridiculous if you believed that!"
"Then why don't you teach us?"
"Because I would rather not make life a whole lot easier for our enemies who want to train dragons by giving them more targets to capture." She paused and stared at me for a few seconds.
"How do you know that you can't train us to be as good as you?"
"My skills came from months upon months of training and practice which I don't have the time to go through with you lot."
"Why not?"
"Because I have too many things going on to train any of you lot." I turned away from her to face my dragons. "My dragons will take you lot back to your ship and make sure you lot stay there while I investigate that camp fire." She didn't say anything as she walked towards the others and my dragons. "Oh and by the way if any of you mess with my dragon then you'll be swimming home." I could tell by their expressions they knew I was serious as I signaled my dragons to take them back and guard them while signaling Toothless to follow me.
20 minutes later
Toothless and me did a small fly around the camp before coming in for a landing after not seeing anybody. I signaled Toothless to stay in the sky and to keep an eye out for any trouble. I unfolded my shield and took out my sword before I made my way into the camp. I saw in the middle was a campfire while set up around it were multiple weapons but I kept my shield raised in defense. As I made my way towards the fire someone pounced on me from the side but I used my shield to block them and use their momentum to toss them over my head. Once I heard the person behind me hit the ground I got up and turned around with my sword and shield at the ready but when I saw whom it was I lowered them and asked.
"Dagur?" It really was the chief of the Berserker getting up off the ground and looking at me.
"Hiccup old friend. Hohoho!"
"I haven't seen you since-"
"Since you saved me from that dragon attack back on Berk and you fought off a nightfury."
I rubbed the back of my head when I was secretly signaling Toothless to stay out of sight. Dagur then went on about the fight while swinging the sword in his hand. When he stopped he looked at me and pointed his sword at me before he asked.
"What are you doing here though Hiccup?" Before I could answer however he continued. "No don't answer that I know why you're here! The same reason I am. You're here to hunt dragons." I decided to play along with the idea to try and avoid Dagur finding out about my dragons and me.
"You got me I came here to hunt down some dragons on my own."
"So what ever happened to that nightfury?"
"It got away."
"That's great!"
"It is?" He threw an arm over my shoulder
"Yes! New plan! You and I are going to hunt down the unholy offspring of lightning and death itself once and for all."
From there I just had to play along and pretend to be into it and want to hunt down some dragons as Dagur bragged about his kills. He pointed to the skull of a monstrous nightmare impaled on a spear, held up a deadly nadder spine as he told me how he stabbed into its leg and then as he talked about the gronkle as he pulled out a roasted leg of something. I admit I was afraid was the gronkle but to my relief Dagur informed me it was yak. It was then he picked up his crossbow that he said was his weapon of choice when on the hunt. As we walked through the forest I continued to secretly signal Toothless while Dagur went on about the hunt and how the two of us weren't so different.
How we were both alike both being natural born leaders and both being sons of chiefs who's fathers needed to be eliminated in order to gain power. I pointed out to him that my father was still alive and he just said that all it would take was one quick shot before firing his crossbow towards my side and into a tree behind me. It was here that things went down hill since Toothless saw this as an attack and shot a plasma blast towards Dagur knocking him back. He laughed claiming I had lead him to the nightfury and called me brother. From there he chased after Toothless as I followed to try and make sure he didn't hurt Toothless. It was when we were nearing a cliff Dagur told me he had brought his armada with him to the island which could only mean big trouble for me. My concerns were especially confirmed when multiple flaming arrows came down upon the area in front of us. It was when we reached a cliff and Toothless was hanging off it Dagur pointing his crossbow at him that I stopped the act and said.
"You are not going to touch that dragon Dagur!" He looked back as he asked.
"So you want to share?" He shrugged. "I suppose you can take home a wing or something." While he was distracted Toothless was able to get back up.
"No I'm going be taking all of him home with me." I then let out my Nightfury call and summon Toothless back who was all too happy to get behind me as Dagur took note of his saddle.
"Is that a-"
"Saddle! Yes it is a saddle."
"So I was-"
"Right all along?" I shrugged. "Not entirely because you see Berk doesn't train or ride dragons." I gave Toothless a gentle nudge to get into attack position. "I'm the only one who does that!"
"Your father lied to me!" He walked up to me and pointed up at me. "You lied to me."
"Both me and my father were only trying to keep the peace between our tribes."
"By making me look like a fool?"
"Please Dagur when it comes to looking like a fool you don't need any help."
"You could have been my brother Hiccup but instead you're my enemy!" I folded up my shield as I answered.
"I don't consider Berk my home Dagur but I will defend it from any threat including you." I pointed my sword at him. "I have my dragons Dagur and I am not afraid to use them."
I sheathed my sword before signaling Toothless to take off. As we flew away I didn't notice Dagur throwing two bolas at us. The first one tied up his tail fins while the second bolas wrapped up his wings sending us down to the ground. When we hit the ground I was thrown off Toothless who went rolling forward. As he rose his head to let out a roar Dagur threw another bola at his muzzle tying it shut. I saw Dagur approached Toothless with his sword raised as I ran towards them. As the sword came down I slid towards them as I unsheathed my sword and blocked Dagurs strike before pushing him away from Toothless as I glared and growled.
"Don't you ever touch my dragon!"
He just glared before he threw two daggers at me, which I rolled out of the way of while unfolding my shield. He then proceeded to throw a barrage of daggers at me while I used my shield to block them while I charged forward towards him. He backed up as I got closer which is exactly what I wanted since it gave Toothless the chance to slap him to the side with his tail. Unfortunately he landed right next to his crossbow that he was quick to pick up and point at me and say.
"Your move Hiccup!"
He then proceeded to begin shooting wooden arrows at me that I either dodged or blocked before saying.
"You aren't the only one with arrows Dagur."
I sheathed my sword before I prepared my mini crossbow and hid behind my shield while firing some of my mini speed stinger venom arrows at him. He dodged them as they embedded themselves in either the bushes or trees behind him before he picked one up and laughed.
"Do you really think these pathetic little things can hurt me?" I smirked at him.
"Considering they're made of a special iron which can easily break through a shield and they're covered in a special venom I'd say they could."
"Oh really now brother?" I nodded before noticing a weak branch above him. "And what type of venom do they have?"
"Speedstinger venom!" I took out my sword and steadied my aim knowing I only had one shot. "Oh and I'm not your brother."
I then flung my sword toward the branch's breaking point cutting into the parts holding it onto the tree making it fall on Dagur. While he was pinned on the ground I made a run for Toothless as I took out my dagger and began to cut the ropes around his mouth. As I was about to break through Dagur tackled me from the side knocking my dagger out of my hand but I was able to hold him off using my shield. As I struggled to get Dagur off me he laughed like a maniac before I used my free arm to punch him in the face. This distracted him long enough for me to toss him over me and into a tree. I quickly got up and ran for my dagger so I could finish cutting Toothless free. Before I could make it to him however Dagur once again charged at me with his sword raised but when it came down on me I used my dagger to block it. When his sword struck my gronkle iron dagger his sword broke leaving a stunned Dagur to ask.
"What the heck is that dagger made of?" I stood up smiling.
"A little something I like to call Gronkle iron." I then kicked him in the stomach towards the edge before Toothless snapped the ropes around his mouth allowing him to fire a plasma blast at Dagur who was sent flying over the edge towards his armada before he started chanting.
"DRAGON ATTACK!" While he did this I finished cutting Toothless free as he growled in the direction Dagur went but I patted his neck.
"Don't worry bud he'll be back and when he is we'll have our chance to take him down." I quickly grabbed my sword and folded up my shield before mounting Toothless. "Let's get back to the others and get out of here now." He just growled before we took off to the ship where the teens were with my other dragons.
When we got back to Berk I told my father I told him everything that happened on Dragon Island and he was not happy with Dagur finding out. I could tell he laid some of the blame on the teens since if they hadn't disobeyed his orders Dagur wouldn't know about my dragons and me now. Long story short they are going to be mucking out stables with their bare hands for a long time under strict supervision and their parents aren't going to let them out of their site for a while. I'd say it was a fare punishment but for now I had to worry about Dagur and the Berserkers along with Alvin and the Outcasts.
AN: Hey all I hope you all enjoyed the chapter and had a happy Easter and I'm sorry this chapter took so long but this one took a while to figure out how to alter the episode. That along with the fact that I'm on holiday and spending time with my family so I've not had that much time to write.
